James Blackshaw - classical guitar, harmonium. David Michael - vocals. All music composed by James Blackshaw; all words by David Michael. Music and vocals recorded by James Blackshaw. Mixed by James Blackshaw.
Album artwork by Jhonn Balance, from the collection of David Michael. The handwritten "Myrninerest" is taken from a postcard by Madge Gill. THE SPEHERE's logo is taken from an original pen and ink drawing that Aleister Crowley made in a copy of his book Khing Kang King (Liber XXI). Both items are from the collection of David Michael. Design by David Michael with Paul Jackson. Layout by Paul Jackson.

The music on this album was written and recorded at home in a few short days during February 2012, shortly after my move back to Hastings from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Inspired by David and the strength of his words, it was a singularly feverish, intense and beautiful experience and one I am incredibly proud to be involved with. I would like to extend my thanks to David for having faith in me to compose music for a project so personal and close to his heart. To Michael Lawrence and Andrew Liles, who helped greatly and selflessly to realise the album as a whole. To my fammily, whose love and patience know no end. And to Ai Fukuda, who couldn't come back sooner.

as Jhonn came softly to me in Haunted Dreams and Haunted Airs. The charcoal drawings reproduced in this album were done for me by Jhonn and were in a box of items that he had intended to give me; also in the box was a Threshold House postcard on which Jhonn had written, in his beautiful handwriting, "Love you David will we ever meet again? Balance". Ossian Brown discovered the box after Jhonn's sidereal ascent and passed it on to me.
I would like to thank Eliot Bates, David Bianchi, Henry Boxer, William Breeze, Ossian Brown, Larry Burton, Michael Cashmore, John Contreras, Geoff Cox-Dorée. Baby Dee, Ladi Dell'aira, Jordi Devas, Giulio Di Mauro, Bill Fay, Julia Giessler, Antony Hegarty, Reinier van Houdt, Nidge Ince, Ian Johnstone, Johan Kugelberg, Michael Lawrence, Andrew Liles, Melon Liles, Alex Neilson, José Pacheco, Davide Pepe, Steve Pittis, Keith Richmond, Steffi Thiel and Lauren Winton. I am grateful to Professor Andrew George for inspiring me to study Akkadian, and for his kindness in answering my questions as I skipped towards Babylon. Without my beloved friend James Blackshaw, this album could never have been - James, thank you for everything, utterly and always. "Jhonn," Uttered Babylon is also published as book by The Spheres which is accompanied by a vinyl album, signed by James Blackshaw and myself. The book was typeset by Miss Kat without whom it would not have been; as always, I extend to her my deepest gratitude. Mark Logan's love and support remains an UrAnchor - bless you always Logan! To Jessica Chappell, my debt is incalculable and unutterable.

James Blackshaw mix.

"JHONN," UTTERED BABYLON, their harrowing and haunted debut, featuring James Blackshaw and David Tibet, is centred on David's friendship with, and love for, the late Jhonn Balance of Coil as well as Jhonn's death and how it affected the circle of friends around Jhonn. With all lyrics by David and all music written by James, the album was recorded during February 2012 with James Blackshaw on classical guitar and harmonium and David as vocalist.

THE SPHERES ONE is mixed by James Blackshaw and comes in a full colour reverse board sleeve with a 4 page insert containing the album's text and reproductions of two charcoal drawings by Jhonn Balance. The painting on the LP cover is also by Jhonn Balance. It carries a cuneiform barcode and the catalogue number THE SPHERES ONE on the spine.
