it was very restrained, beautiful and mysterious and low-key in the gallery,
which is very much in the heart of the old part of the City of
Vienna....people wandered into the gallery, and there were these
sounds....floating through the place. the piece from the book has a
direct bearing on the things that were happening in my life at that
time, and the CD in the book was made from the sounds of my staying
in Vienna, at a particular location, where many things were
happening. my relationship with Iceland was going through a big
change at that point, and it was ironic or fitting to me (not sure
which of those) that so many Icelandic artists were involved. it also
spelled the completion of a circle with regards to my relationship
with a particular kind of happening in the Art world. so the
performance was very successful in reflecting these things and
bringing part of what I knew and had experienced to invade the lives
of people who would never have normally come into contact with it -
just a for a few moments. the cross-pollination was a very potent
part of the whole process. the piece in the book was the first (and
possibly the only) work sold in the gallery, and immediately, at the
opening.
