this was in a period where people were protesting the
"commercialisation" of artspaces in Vienna, and setting up art events
and performances in the living rooms of their apartments. this was
just such a place, and was, literally, in the living room of a large
apartment in the city, part of a large block.
the event was organised by Walter of Syntactic. I prepared a large amount of melted wax mixed with cloves and sage, with a few match-heads to keep the mixture burning, and made two or maybe three pots of this, and set fire to them. I performed a ritual involving a small notebook and "the truth". at a guess, there were about 50 people in attendance. the mixer was provided by Peter Rehberg now of Mego Productions. he may have provided the speakers, but I forget now. as far as I remember, it was pretty powerful. the neighbours did not complain =)
