The Authors:

Z'EV, born in California, attended the legendary first year of the California Institute of the Arts, and was mightily influenced by the mass of Fluxus artists congregated there. His solo performing began in 1975 during which time he developed a unique and influential form of instruments and techniques. These innovations became widely known after 1978 when he became a major figure within the Industrial Music scene, recording numerous albums both as solo artist and in co-operations. During this period he was also initiated into Western Ceremonial and Ritual Practice, and employed by the Society For The Preservation of Occult Consciousness. His public work has included co-operating with Konrad Becker on a Ritual Opera for the Vienna Festival in 1984. Z'EV has also recorded and performed with the Psychic Televison projects PTV2 and PTV3. Under the collective name Mother Tongue he has produced Language/Rhythm events and recordings with Gylan Kain of The Last Poets, and with Doro Franck and Andrew McKenzie. A recent retrospective of all facets of his work has been released by TOUCH under the title, One Foot in the Grave. His most recent work with Thee Cube (PTV3) , Direction Ov Travel, was also released during 1991. He is currently living in Amsterdam (having become a legal resident there in 1990) and working on a multi-volume work of ancient Greek and Hebrew Gematria. Rhythmajik, a practical guide to the use of rhythm in ritual work by Z'EV will be published by Temple Press in Spring 1992.

Andrew McKenzie was born in England in 1963, on the anniversary of Salvador Dali's birth. He has worked with research into the corporeal, psychological and spiritual effects and applications of sound for over 15 years. He has collaborated with many individuals over the years on many projects around the world, regardless of compatibility with each other, most frequently under the generic project name THE HAFLER TRIO. This unit now has over 15 commercial releases in the sound domain, and continues to produce new work. As well as writing many texts within the specialist field of non- specialisation, he continues to become more and more confusing, even to himself, whilst communicating more and more clearly that which it is that he communicates. He is currently working on large piles of cheques sent in daily from around the world, and as much sex as possible without an orgasm - his motto: if it isn't broken, don't fix it.

Genesis P-Orridge founded COUM Transmissions in 1969, a Performance Art group that was to be at the forefront of radical performance throughout Europe during the early 1970s. He also co-edited the prize-winning Directory of Contemporary Artists for the St. James Press, a vast and comprehensive catalogue of 20th Century art. His work during this period appeared at many arts festivals around the world, culminating in the transitional show PROSTITUTION at the I.C.A. Gallery in 1976. It was at this time that he rejected the complacency of the Art World, forming the Industrial Music group Throbbing Gristle. T.G. produced several albums of experimental music until their cessation of activity in 198 1. These recordings remain key influences on countless bands around the world. In 1981 he founded Psychic TV, a collaborative project for music and video work. Simultaneously he initiated Thee Temple Ov Psychick Youth as an autonomous, non-hierarchical body that in 10 years has developed into a world-wide movement dedicated to the exploration of occult and cultural symbiosis. His most recent work includes collaborations (separately) with Z'EV and Andrew McKenzie, as well as performances and lectures in America and Japan. He continues to record and perform widely with Psychic TV in its numerous formats. His written work has apppeared in countless magazines and books throughout the world. A collection of his writings which appeared under the title Esoterrorist in America in 1989, is currently being greatly expanded and revised for publication in 1992.
