Apologies for the impersonal nature of our recent updates, which are due to my overwhelming busyness more than anything else.
I recently spent a couple of weeks in Cairo at the Congress of the International Association of Coptic Studies, and after the Congress spent a few days working in an archive of Coptic manuscripts on the "diplomatic edition" and translation of an apocryphal Christian Coptic text which discusses archangels. I hope that this will be published in an academic journal in due course, perhaps in 2009, as well as perhaps as a small edition published by Coptic Cat.
Beyond that, I have been working on the approval of the mixing for the new AnokPe C93 album, which will be released on December 1, as well as finishing the final pieces for my art exhibition in central London, which opens on November 29. There will be more details on the album and my art show, and the books, catalogue, prints, vinyl and CDs that are being released around it, on the next update which will follow very soon.

HAND-PRINTED BIRTH CANAL BLUES BOOK
A beautiful edition of the text of the four sections of David's recent text BIRTH CANAL BLUES has been printed by the Tipoteca Foundation in Cornuda, Italy who also produced the beautiful volume by Pantaleimon, "Peeling Oranges into Flowers".
The book comes in three separate states: 100 copies with a cream cover, 100 copies with a crimson cover, and 20 artist's proofs which all have a drawing by David on the inner verso of the title-page and an inscription.
Each copy of each edition comes with a free copy of the "Birth Canal Blues" live CD (see description of the CD below). Durtro have 75 copies of each of the cream and crimson editions, and 15 copies of the artist's proof with drawing. The cream and crimson editions are £40 each, and the artists's edition is £150, all plus postage and packing. There is no VAT on these books. Publishing date: 25th October 2008. CD in jewel-case with a 3D cover photograph of ANOKPE CURRENT 93 by the German photographer Raven and with free 3D viewing glasses. This CD EP features the live version of BIRTH CANAL BLUES from the ROADBURN FESTIVAL IN HOLLAND as part of the April 2008 tour, mixed from the original mulit-track masters. The line-up for the Roadburn show was: David Tibet, Baby Dee, Andrew W.K., Matt Sweeney, William Breeze, Keith Wood, Alex Neilson, Joolie Wood, Andrew Liles, Stephen Emmel and Maja Elliott. This CD, previously only available from Durtro and Jnana mailorder, is now available through Revolver and Southern distribution. The cover has been slightly altered. The original mail-order-only edition had Arabic text on the front of the booklet and English text on the back of the booklet. The UK/EU version now available has English text on the front and French on the back, whilst the North American version has English text on the front and Arabic text on the back. The rest of the booklet is the same, apart from some minor textual changes. The CD disc face on the UK/EU edition has a green globe, and that of the North American edition has a red globe; the mail-order edition had a blue globe. CHRIS CONNELLY/FORGIVENESS AND EXILE
This is Chris Connelly's ninth solo album, and the follow up to 2007's critically acclaimed 'THE EPISODES'.
'FORGIVENESS AND EXILE' is again produced by Tim Kinsella and Ben Vida with Chris, and the musicians are the same jazz and improvisational band that played on 'THE EPISODES'. This time, however, the album is strongly augmented with the addition of four of Chris's oldest friends:

* SHIRLEY MANSON (GARBAGE)
* DAVID TIBET (CURRENT 93)
* And actress TORRI HIGGINSON (THE ENGLISH PATIENT, STARGATE ATLANTIS)
The album, apart from the opening song 'ARRAN', is basically one long piece divided into sections; an ever changing and evolving meditation on war, displaced peoples, families shattered by corrupt governments, wrongful imprisonments and torture.
This impressionistic view is characterized through improvisation, dramatic change in dynamics, disparate imagery, ruined landscapes and cities illustrated by Connelly's poetry.
The subject matter here is of course extremely dark, and it has not been taken in any way lightly by its author, and in an attempt to move towards easing the plight of the millions of innocent victims the world over, all monies generated by Chris Connelly for this project will go directly to the MARJORIE KOVLER CENTER FOR THE TREATMENT OF SURVIVORS OF TORTURE, providing medical, mental health, emergency and other support services to help torture survivors overcome trauma so that they may start a new life.
