Anton Newcombe approached the Texas-based three piece about releasing their brand of swirling psych-rock on his Berlin-based label A Recordings Ltd. after catching the band's blistering set at Levitation in Austin. Recorded in the small desert town of Marfa, TX, this EP is loose, grungy garage at its finest, unhurried and hypnotic. OFRIN Ore LP
LP version. Includes download code. Necessity is the mother of invention. Creativity theorists would now most likely identify frustration as a driving force for creative activity. Ofrin flips this notion on its head. What drives the Berlin-based Israeli is the creation of an absence. She offers her creativity to serve the art of omission. In doing so, she proves herself as a master of the art. Ore, produced by fellow Albumlabel artist T.Raumschmiere, is defined by the musical elements it lacks, causing tension and drive throughout. Artists often tend to play into listener's expectations, but Ofrin refuses to fall victim to that practice. Her fourth album opens with "Best Request," which might be called a new form of EBM -- something akin to disembodied electronic body music, as contradictory as that may sound. Orchestral hits, filter progressions, and saw-tooth bass create an unmistakable '80s sound that will warm the heart of every self-respecting old school waver. The lack of beats is what defines this piece, catching the listener off guard and causing a slight abstraction. This variant theme occurs throughout the entire album. "Direction Eclipse" is a dark ballad drenched in trip-hop nostalgia, taking the best from the genre. Ofrin achieves an orchestral grandeur without pathos. Her clear yet never predictable melody stands alone without any orchestral backing as it is forced into modesty, virtually intimate. Ofrin resists the temptation to overload the piece with strings, making it a dark, delicate lullaby. We do get a "proper" EBM track in the end with a slapping snare and metallic synth-bass. Ofrin even takes on the classic ragamuffin style, opting for a barebones approach of pure vocals, throbbing synth, and a noise brass groove. Ofrin uses simple arrangements to great effect, lulling the listener into a false sense of security before taking it all away. Ofrin is the master of her own voice, not showing off any flourishes for their own sake of it, and exercising restraint at all times. She avoids the excessive use of expressive bel canto techniques in favor of unusual melodies. Her voice is cool and composed. Her vocals are confident and incisive -- free of vanity.

JOASIHNO Meshes LP
LP version. Artwork with spot silver foil print. Includes download code. "I always have a spatial vision of music," says Cico Beck, mastermind of Joasihno and member of The Notwist and Aloa Input. Sitting in his basement studio among self-made synthesizers, records, and weird instruments, he points at a tiny robot beating an electronic drum: "That's one of my new musicians." Alongside member and co-producer Nico Sierig, the band is accompanied by a robot orchestra. But first things first. The third Joasihno album, Meshes, is a spectacular transformation. Cico Beck took off for Berlin to meet co-producer Tadklimp one spring night in 2015. Some ecstatic sessions later, the vision was evolving, captured on opener "Nuh Nuh," an experimental electronic piece winding into infinity with a friendly grin, reflecting the amplitude between modular synthesizers and Fisher Price keyboards. Once you're under the hypnosis of this soft monster, you are floating peacefully into the new world of Joasihno's Meshes. Despite a plethora of oscillating ideas and acoustic bubbles, Joasihno never lose touch with the listener, while sailing placidly through all aspects of Beck's vision of electronic anti-pop. The entertaining Meshes features another nine sparkling miniature gems, simultaneously complex and accessible, melancholic and hilarious, bright and deep. The music breathes ideas of smart UK garage-philosopher Four Tet, the crazy street composer Moondog, and some sort of Nils Frahm approach -- and, of course, pop music. Even if most tracks deny structures and rules of pop composing, they are always interacting with pop -- sometimes with a twinkling eye, sometimes in a deep lust for destruction. "In the end I found out, that I was approaching my own roots, the vision I had when I started Joasihno. I wanted the music to be more raw, intuitive and playful." From this perspective, Meshes is some kind of liberation for him Cico Beck. "I had a good time ignoring popular music," he says with a grin on his face. His previous album -- We Say: Oh Well (2011) and A Lie (N 033CD/LP, 2013) -- were situated in the space between Iceland and Africa. Meshes puts a new spot on his musical map: New York, home of great magicians like Steve Reich, Philip Glass, and Raymond Scott. The transformation to the complex electronics of Meshes is both harmonious and unavoidable. Artwork by Aslak Gurholt Rønsen of Yokoland.

CHEVALREX Futurisme LP+CD
LP version.Comes in gatefold printed on uncoated card. Includes CD. Since the release of the album Catapulte in 2013, media have been used to describing Chevalrex' music as "miniature symphonies". For Futurisme, Rémy Poncet, the handyman that plays himself all the instruments, writes his own lyrics and even makes his own cover, has decided to keep the same path but meanwhile, has grown in melodic power and maturity. "I finally let my teen life behind, and from now on, offer me some peaks" he sings in "Aussi Loin". BACAO RHYTHM & STEEL BAND 55 CD
"Shrouded in mystery, hailing from Hamburg, Germany, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band (BRSB) releases their long awaited debut '55' on Brooklyn's own Big Crown Records. Long time multi instrumentalist and band leader Bjorn Wagner spent a few months in Trindad & Tobago where he became fascinated with Steel Drums. His initial intrigue with local steel pan music culture led him to learning the instrument both through help of local players and on his own. After he became proficient on the pans Bjorn had his own instrument built from a used oil barrel by legendary pan man Louis C. Smith. Upon returning home to Germany, Bjorn set out to blend the Tropical Steel into his already sharply honed Funk, Soul, and Hip Hop sensibilities. The outcome is an updated take on a classic format, a truly unique sound. Keeping in the tradition of Steel Drum records, 55 is a journey through re-interpolations and covers with an updated approach, pushing Steel Pan music to uncharted territory. Flawlessly bringing previously untouched genres into the steel pan cannon ranging from Underground Hip Hop tunes to staple Funk tracks and some of all that falls in between. From the smoothed out Reggae cover of John Holt's 'Police In Helicopter' to the DJ sure shot cover of Faith Evan's 'Love Like This' BRSB's 55 is reinvigorating tunes both well known and helping to shed some light on tunes still largely undiscovered. However, some of the strongest tunes on the album are original compositions, from spaced out Disco vibes on 'Beetham Highway Ride' and 'Port Of Spain Hustle' to the ugly face inspiring drums of 'Laventille Road March'. Recorded to analog 8 track tape at The Mocambo Studios in Hamburg, 55 is a gritty, punchy journey in sound drawing on music from around the world, using production aesthetics from across both eras and genres, all coming together seamlessly."

AMM AMMMusic LP
2016 limited repress... First vinyl reissue of the landmark 1967 debut album by AMM, AMMMusic. Remastered and cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin. Exact replica sleeve by Stephen O'Malley. "Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of its recording in 1966, this reissue makes one of the cornerstones of the experimental music tradition available again in its original form, replete with Keith Rowe's beautiful pop art cover and the terse aphorisms by the group that served as its original liner notes. A testament to the interaction between the experimental avant-garde and the countercultural underground, the album was originally released on Elektra, recorded by Jac Holzman (the label's founder, responsible for signing The Doors, Love, and The Stooges) and produced by DNA, a group that included Pink Floyd's first manager, Peter Jenner (the title of Pink Floyd's 'Flaming' is a tribute to AMM's 'Later During a Flaming Riviera Sunset'). Formed in 1965 by three players from the emerging British jazz avant-garde -- Keith Rowe and Lou Gare had played with the great progressive big band leader Mike Westbrook and Eddie Prévost played in a post-bop group with Gare -- AMM quickly evolved from a free jazz group into something decidedly more difficult to categorise. By the time these recordings were made, two more members had joined the group: another Westbrook associate, Lawrence Sheaff, and the radical composer Cornelius Cardew. Then at work on his masterpiece of graphic notation Treatise, Cardew brought with him extensive experience of the post-serialist and Cageian currents in contemporary composition. Using a combination of conventional instruments and unconventional methods of sound production (most famously Keith Rowe's prepared tabletop guitar, but also prepared piano and transistor radio), the group performed improvised pieces often running for over two hours and ranging from extended periods of silence to terrifying cacophonies. On AMMMusic, long tones sit next to abrasive thuds, the howl of uncontrolled feedback accompanies Cardew's purposeful piano chords, radios beam in snatches of orchestral music. AMM's clearest break with jazz-based improvisation concerned the idea of individuality. Initially through an engagement with eastern philosophy and mysticism and later though a politicized communitarianism, AMM sought to develop a collective sonic identity in which individual contributions could barely be discerned. In the performances captured on AMMMusic the use of numerous auxiliary instruments and devices, including radios played by three members of the group, contribute to the sensation that the music is composed as a single monolithic object with multiple facets, rather than as an interaction between five distinct voices." --Francis Plagne

KLIMPEREI & ERIC CHABERT Sing John B Cornaway: Dealings LP
The pataphysical toy music of Klimperei, a collective project led since 1985 by Christophe Petchanatz, gets a lot out of many small things - dismantled toys, organs with burst pipes, squeaking detuned guitars, loose broom. Sung in English by Eric Chabert, the songs on Dealings are adaptations of poems by John B. Cornaway (1957-1994), author of Heligoland. Over Chabert's scratchy voice, still manifesting all its vigor, Klimperei unload its makeshift bric-a-brac, convoking melodica, banjo and metallophone. Child-like without infantilism, these pieces sometimes show their teeth, but the bite is never violent. Woozy cabaret cantata ("Cup of Tea"), Potluck Canterbury School ("Spoil"), punk waltz under a sad sun ("Hard"), acoustic free-blues ("Solution", "Wear On") or haywire krautrock ("Soon"). Mind dust in a stormy mouth, black candy dispenser - broken bottle et verre brisé . The glottis shaking sobs are quickly repressed. Because, yes, despite everything, life is good at Klimperei's. And the wind, Cornaway says, will never die.

CIRCLES Structures LP
LP version. Latecomers to the krautrock party, Circles created a manifesto of frenzied inertia in the late 1980s, swimming in the same gene pool as Cluster and Popol Vuh. Ambient music for the end of time does not get any more authentic than this. The Structures album is a time capsule unlocked, containing previously unreleased recordings from 1985 to 1989. Music that blends the extremes of end-times foreboding and drifting lightness to beguiling effect. Music that succeeds in sounding more contemporary in 2016 that it did when it was made. Its time has come. Mike Bohrmann and Dierk Leitert's duo first saw the light of day in 1983. Krautrock's twilight phase flickered with a few final successes before sliding into obscurity. For a relatively unknown project like Circles, finding a distributor was virtually impossible, in spite of all the time and effort they had invested in their third LP. "We had already pressed up the album and we didn't want to bin it," explains Bohrmann. "So Dierk simply painted roughly 100 white sleeves and we left the other 400 covers blank. Then we visited all the record shops in the Rhine-Main region and gave the LPs away." Collectors are likely to tear their hair out just thinking about the prices such a krautrock rarity can fetch nowadays. With little prospect of success, further recordings disappeared into the cupboard, unreleased -- until now. The shining treasure of Structures has been opened up and dusted off. Right from the start, the first song decelerates ceremoniously into tones that resound for minutes on end. Guitar figures exude a lightness as they complement and carry the track. Sweeping variations are rare and excursions into harmony even rarer, yet everything connects in a perfectly balanced arc of tension. Each of the following tracks has a magic all its own. Electronic keyboards and guitars are the dominant sound sources. One can hear a Korg Trident, a much-prized analog synthesizer noted for its string and brass section; "for the warm, deep layers and harmonies in the upper ranges and bass," recalls Bohrmann. They also used a monophonic analog synthesizer, the Moog Source -- a classic of space-age industrial design considered by some to be the most beautiful synth ever built.

STEFANIK, DANIEL Dots & Pearls 3 CD
Cocoon Recordings is proud to present the latest instalment in their Dots & Pearls compilation series. This third edition is a retrospective of sorts for the label and features brand new and unreleased tracks. It's mixed by Daniel Stefanik, the DJ and producer from Leipzig who has been at the top of his techno game for more than a decade, who also includes four of his own edits. This seventy-minute journey through modern techno all starts with Daniel's owns edits of Guido Schneider & Andre Galluzzi's "Mario" merged with Tim Green's big label smash "Eclipse." The two blend perfectly and get things off to a fine start before the first exclusive, "Music On My Mind" by Subb-an really gets things going. Another one of Stefanik's edits is Luca Ballerini's "Impressions Of A Dawn," masterfully merged and mixed with Tim Green's "Eclipse" and "Thieves." With each new mix, Stefanik steps up the ante and energy levels and includes contributions from Dana Ruh, Fauntleroy (Len Faki remix) and Ilario Alicante, which are all compiled and mixed perfectly together into an engaging passage of techno. Another edit of Luca Ballerini's "Orizzonte" leads to "The Concept" by Waveshape, the second exclusive and previously-unreleased track on this mix. The rest of the mix finds Stefanik mixing a Waveshape track elegantly with Ricardo Tobar's "Blue Mint" into another edit that blends into Traumer's "Kiraf." Cocoon label boss Sven Väth makes an appearance with "Ritual Of Life" (Adam Port 108 Mix) -- an über-classic club hymn that carries you away. Things get a little quieter and more contemplative with "Disappear" by Kamran Sadeghi and Julia Govor. Closing out the mix is we're brought back to Guido Schneider & André Galluzzi and their "ToFu Dubdub" of "Mario," rounding out the tight and fresh mix with a nice sense of circular cohesion.

PITA Get In LP
LP version. After the 2004 release of his last solo album, Get Off (HAPNA 019CD), Editions Mego founder Peter Rehberg embarked on a series of soundtracks for the French artist and choreographer Gisèle Vienne. Out of this collaboration were planted the seeds for the prolific KTL, Rehberg's guitar/computer duo with Stephen O'Malley. After a surprise return to live performance in 2015, Rehberg now returns to his Pita alias with the full-length document Get In. Get In extends the perennial Pita sound into a paradox of intimidation and beauty. "20150609 I" teases the juncture between the human and the tool, the improvised and the composed, and the analog and the digital. "Aahn" inhabits a field of electronic nebula, simultaneously inviting and alien. "Line Angel" could be a new form of minimalism for the post-internet crowd. "S200729" evokes an acid most splintered while "Mfbk" completes proceedings as an ambient drift underscored with classical overtones. Get In is a beautiful, engaging, and unsettling listen. A multi-headed hydra presented as the ultimate dystopian sonic journey. Recorded and mixed by Peter Rehberg at Twisted, Vienna, March 2015-January 2016. Mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin, January 2016. Artwork by Tina Frank. Dedicated to Thomas Jerome Newton.

MYTHIC SUNSHIP Ouroboros LP
Debut album from Copenhagen quartet, Mythic Sunship . The destination is transcendence alright, but the vehicle, ultimately, is assembled from decades of rock - where ferocious drum-pounding and thick, geezery basslines adds fuel to an endless pyre of blazed-out dual fuzz guitar action. This stuff is wild. Spiritually, the band seems connected to present day So-Cal psych-rock, but listening to Ouroboros, also reveals the band's strong ties to the Copenhagen underground scene: members of the band brushing elbows with the avant-garde noise of the record label Posh Isolation as well as the Mayhem venue. There's plenty of blissed-out riff-worshipping here, but there's also something slightly unsettling in the band's skyward travels - perhaps a longing for spiritual redemption. Maybe the road to satori isn't necessarily pretty after all. File next to: Amon Düül II, Earthless, Guru Guru, Travellin' Flower Band .

Featuring tracks performed in the HBO series Vinyl."Back when Thurston and I were working on our book about the New York No Wave scene, a key mystery we hoped to unravel was the one surrounding the band Jack Ruby. I knew George Scott had been in the band, along with Chris Gray, but we were never able to nail down any hard info. Lydia Lunch and Rudolph Grey both had blazing memories of their weirdness, originality and power, but no one could turn up anything solid. Time passed, the book came out and -- chuffed by the fact we'd name-checked the band in the book -- some of the participants began to emerge. Weasel Walter got his hands on a great tape of material which he released on CD (most of which is reprised here), and bits and pieces of the band's story continued to roll out. They'd actually formed in 1973 with Boris Policeband on electric viola and Randy Cohen on Serge synthesizer. The two pretty much constant members were guitarist Gray and singer Robin Hall. They'd done a demo for Epic. The original band never played live, etc., kind of crazy. Then a batch of old tapes was found in Pennsylvania. We sent them to Don Fleming who transferred and catalogued them for us, and we were totally blown away by what he was uncovering. 'Hit and Run' and 'Mayonnaise' are the original line-up recorded in a small Times Square Studio. Boris left after that and they recorded the Epic session as a trio. That's 'Bored Stiff,' 'Bad Teeth,' and 'Sleep Cure.' The other songs were recorded by the later, performing version of the band with Chris and George and another (all but anonymous) person or two. They played five live shows, featuring crawling dolls, buzzing dildos and the cracked Rocket From The Tombs sort of sound they'd evolved. The last one was in November '77 at Max's with Vivienne Dick's then-boyfriend, Stephen Barth on vocals. And the shit may be lo-fi at times, but it is genuinely fucked and a real pleasure to hear nonetheless." --Byron Coley; Includes download code with purchase.

ANGAIAK, JOHN I'm Lost in the City CD
"Officially licensed reissue. Featured on Native North America (Vol. 1): Aboriginal Folk, Rock, and Country 1966-1985. Remastered from the original analogue master tapes. Expanded gatefold edition with John Angaiak painting. I'm Lost in the City (1971) is the sole vinyl LP offering from Yup'ik singer-songwriter, John Angaiak. Born in Nightmute, Alaska, in 1941, Angaiak began playing guitar at a young age, quickly learning the basics before serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Stationed in Vietnam and far away from home, Angaiak forged an astute outlook on his region, his country, and the world itself. Upon his return, Angaiak enrolled in the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, where he became active in the preservation of his native language as part of the school's Eskimo Language Workshop. Inspired by the program's work and a friendship with music student Stephen Halbern, Angaiak recorded I'm Lost in the City, a project that helped to document and promote the previously oral Yup'ik language into a written one through a series of songs. Each side of the album, which showcases John's intimate vocal and guitar style, shares a part of Angaiak's culture and history: Side One is sung in Yup'ik, while the material on Side Two is delivered in English. Both are equally emotional, deeply personal and extremely affecting. Over 13 songs, Angaiak speaks to his community and also to the world. 'Ak'a Tamaani,' for one, became a regional hit in Alaska and reached as far as Greenland where Angaiak later performed in concert. Though I'm Lost in the City garnered a small mention in industry bible Billboard, regardless of the album's cultural value, it sold poorly outside of Alaska and other northern communities, never finding a broader audience. In addition to his work as a painter and author, Angaiak is a proud family man and a source of great knowledge of his people and the changes they have faced over the years, shifting from a subsistence hunting, fishing, and sharing lifestyle to an increasingly urban influenced cash-based existence. An important statement on indigenous life and the human condition, I'm Lost in the City showcases Angaiak's first hand perspective on this challenging transition, something that we can all learn a great deal from."

JB'S, THE Food For Thought LP
"The renowned Get On Down label pays reverent tribute to this classic by pressing it on 150 gram vinyl, in a 70s style Stoughton jacket. There are funk bands. And then there are The JB's. In the early 1970s, James Brown's production stable was quite simply overflowing with soul. Beyond his own genre-bursting music -- which brought funk and R&B to new stratospheres with each platter he released -- he began to curate his own label, People Records, to explore and expose the lesser-known talent in his own groups and musical universe. After a mysterious, psychedelic album by a group calling themselves The Grodeck Whipperjenny in 1970, The Godfather Of Soul released a slew of 7-inch singles for the next several years on People. In doing so, he firmly established the label as the world's premier outlet for super-funk, with artists including James Brown himself, Lyn Collins, Hank Ballard and Fred Wesley. In 1972, the next album on People was an easy choice: The JB's and their ridiculously funky full-length debut, Food For Thought. Made up of JB sidemen including bandleader Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker, John 'Jabo' Starks, St. Clair Pinckney, Fred Thomas and Bobby Byrd, the group was the definition of a powerhouse. As proof, look no further than the fact that the ten songs on this platter have been sampled by an almost uncountable list of producers over the past 40-plus years, and grooved to by hundreds of thousands. From 'Pass The Peas' and 'Gimme Some More' to the sonic attack of 'The Grunt' [which also contained work from William 'Bootsy' Collins and his brother Catfish, who had recently defected to join Parliament-Funkadelic] Food For Thought remains one of the funkiest albums ever made."

"Big Black Coat", the title track of the celebrated Junior Boys album, has received praise for its unconventional mix of techno elements and the signature laid-back Junior Boys sound. Detroit techno legend Robert Hood was an obvious choice for a remix, but with this reworking of the track he has once again outdone himself. As much as the original is in parts a nod to him, Hood's remix in turn gives "Big Black Coat" special treatment. Rather than opting for an all-out techno banger, he carefully deconstructed the original material, rebuilding it as an essentialist industrial club anthem.

YOUNGE PRESENTS VENICE DAWN, ADRIAN Instrumental Versions: Something About April Part 2 LP
"In the years since the release of Adrian Younge's Something About April, he has been coined America's black genius: the evocation of analog vestige in a digital era. His majestic music has garnered him reverence, likened to Ennio Morricone's best work and the Beatles' tenacity to create new sounds. Fortuitously, Something About April has made an indelible impression on modern vinyl heads and producers alike, being sampled by DJ Premier, Jay-Z, Common, 50 Cent and more. The Something About April brand is an axiom to the modern 'Breakbeat' and Linear Labs is happy to announce its successor: Something About April II. As with Something About April -- Something About April II is the sort of recording that is more than deserving of an all instrumental treatment. Recorded with Younge's collection of rare instruments, Something About April II advances his musical paradigm with enterprising concepts and grander compositions -- it synthesizes the boundaries between dark American soul and classic European cinema. Younge is the experimental spirit of the modernist vanguard, looking at the past to create the future. What this album extrapolates, from vinyl culture, will become further magnified by its sampling down the line. Something About April II will replace the former as a holy grail for producers and collectors alike."

THIS HEAT This Heat LP
"Second pressing of vinyl re-issue. First official vinyl re-issue in collaboration with original band members Charles Bullen and Charles Hayward. 24 bit/96 kHz re-master from original analog tapes. Includes booklet with track notes and archival photos. Isn't it so often the case that the most innovative works of art -- the ones that break the ground where others follow -- are the ones that seem to reach only the ears of those who take those ideas and run with them? So it is with This Heat and their eponymous debut album frequently referred to as 'blue and yellow' for its ultra-minimal jacket. Within its 48 minute run time, the seeds of post-punk, avant rock, noise rock and post-rock can be found. Formed in Brixton, a multicultural, and -- at the time -- down-at-heel part of south London, This Heat were born into a music scene in rapid flux, first thanks to the punk explosion and then via new wave and its myriad offshoots into pop, rock and art-rock. But while many sought to apply punk attitude to chart-friendly sounds, This Heat were concocting some of the most experimental ideas ever committed to tape, taking influence from musique concrète, krautrock, the burgeoning industrial scene and even the dub reggae blasting out in their home borough. Their debut album had -- for the time and for the DIY scene -- an unusually long gestation, recorded in sessions between February 1976 and September 1978 in a variety of studios including their own Cold Storage, a converted cold storage room in the Acme Studios complex. Innovating throughout, they combined loops and tape manipulation with live performance and haunting vocals to a complex, dissonant whole. The band recorded everything they ever did -- including gigs -- and tracks such as 'Water' were entirely improvised in the studio. Given the difficult, abrasive, and involved nature of their sound, This Heat never found anything approaching mainstream success, but patronage by the influential Radio 1 DJ John Peel meant they reached a national audience -- whether that audience was ready for them or not. Celebrating This Heat's 40th anniversary in 2016, Modern Classics Recordings will re-issue the band's catalog -- 1979's This Heat, 1980's Health and Efficiency, and 1981's Deceit -- with full co-operation of surviving members Charles Bullen and Charles Hayward. Four decades on, the tireless efforts of This Heat's process can once again be a revelation for new audiences."

THIS HEAT Deceit LP
"Second pressing of vinyl re-issue. First official vinyl re-issue in collaboration with original band members Charles Bullen and Charles Hayward. 24 bit/96 kHz re-master from original analog tapes. Includes booklet with track notes and archival photos. With their debut album and follow-up maxi single Health and Efficiency, This Heat sowed the seeds of post-punk, avant rock, noise rock and post-rock, placing the trio -- Charles Bullen, Charles Hayward and Gareth Williams -- at the forefront of experimental music. However, 1981's Deceit is the one that truly deserves its reputation as a classic of the post-punk era, tying up the myriad threads of their work so far and adding accessibility and melody to the still furiously forward-thinking sound. Recorded in a variety of studios including the band's own Cold Storage, the 11 tracks put a sense of social anxiety and global paranoia to the fore. Some lyrics were 'harvested' from TV commercials ('Sleep'), others described the curtain-twitching of surveillance society ('Triumph'), and some were screamed with raw, ragged abandon, like on 'Makeshift Swahili'. 'Makeshift was a big learning situation for me,' says Hayward. 'I learned to let go with my voice, to release the energy that each song required, no matter where that might lead. The song, about the collapse of language, was central to the Deceit idea.' Musical innovations abound too -- drum tracks were recycled from other recordings, albeit in manipulated and mutated form, and 'Independence' reverses the melody of earlier track 'Fall Of Saigon'. It's an album whose themes and sounds unfurl before the listener, the mood of edgy, pre-apocalyptic tension growing throughout. Says Hayward: 'I still think of this record as a dream within a dream.' This Heat split a year after the release, with Bullen and Hayward completing the final tour without Williams. Hayward went on to form Camberwell Now and Bullen recorded as Lifetones. A tentative 2001 reunion came, tragically, too late -- Williams died of cancer within a month of them meeting to rehearse."

SLOW STEVE Adventures LP
LP version. Includes download code. Are you ready for a bewitching pop adventure? Ex-Fenster member Rémi Letournelle aka Slow Steve presents his debut album, Adventures, following a 7" split single on Berlin-based DIY label Späti Palace and Steps, a six-track EP released on Morr Music in 2015 (MORR 134CD/EP). His bubbling vintage synths (together with an impressive variety of instruments) take the listener on a strange trip through imagined galaxies and secret deep-sea worlds. Call it weird, but this is amateur pop in all its glory, and the most natural outlet for Slow Steve. Think of Ariel Pink, John Maus, early Future Islands, old krautrock luminaries, or Arthur Russell -- a whole school of alternative pop music that Letournelle is set to join. He recorded Adventure with producer Tadklimp over five days in WORM Studio in Rotterdam, using their many glorious vintage synthesizers, and in Tadklimp's studio in Berlin. Apart from the work of Charley Vecten, who started Slow Steve with Letournelle as a live duo in 2012, most of the instrument parts on the record were written and performed by Letournelle himself. When Letournelle moved to Berlin, he met psychedelic pop outfit and fellow Morr signees Fenster; he has since become part of their live shows and contributed to their first two albums. There are certain similarities between the washed-out sound of Fenster and Slow Steve, but Adventures sees Letournelle doing his own thing. "I had weird science fiction in mind, visions of Jules Verne drawings from the early 20th century and science fiction/action movies from the end of that same century," recalls Letournelle. "That's why it's called Adventures: I'm picturing a kind of Indiana Jones going down to the bottom of the sea, to Lilliput and other crazy, weird worlds." Song titles like "The Giant Spider Crab From Japan" imply that this is a cosmic synth dive into creepy depths. Elsewhere, one hears the inspiration that French '70s sci-fi movies and their experimental electronic scores had on Letournelle, for instance in the blissful nostalgia reverberating throughout "Oscillation." Even the sunshiny guitar pop and blurred synths of "Sloth" or "Bali" sooner or later end up as humorous excursions. All the song structures seem to follow some secret rules -- challenging but always easygoing. Adventures does what it says on the sleeve: surprise and mesmerize, wild and spaced-out. Welcome to the curious world of Slow Steve.

"Essential garage Zamrock/soul/funk: the first official reissue of the celebrated band's one and only album. "The musical style that became known as Zamrock came to embody the economic despair that followed the 1973-1974 oil crisis, which flung Zambia into recession and exacerbated a wide range of social tensions. Much of Zamrock also captured the controversy of wider politics in Africa and the world. Perhaps the finest example of this is Black Power by The Peace." - The Guardian. The Boyfriends, from Kitwe's Chamboli Mine Township, supplied the founding members for Zamrock's most famous band, WITCH, and kick started one of Zamrock's best bands, Peace. Their sole Zamrock entry, Black Power, recorded at Malachite Film Studio circa 1973/4 and issued circa 1975, sounds like nothing else in the Zamrock canon: a lost message drifiting from the flower power era, imbued with a fiery Zambian voice."

TURNER/YUKIHIRO ISSO, ROGER Takanehishigu LP
Born in 1964, Yukihiro Isso is a Japanese Noh flutist (hayashikata fuekata) from a family that has been playing this instrument since the 16th century. He received his initial instruction in flute playing from his father, Yukimasa Isso, and performed on the Noh stage for the first time at the age of nine. Beginning in his middle school years, he began listening to a variety of different kinds of music and studying new instruments including the recorder and piano. An acclaimed performer of classical Noh repertoire, Isso is also an accomplished improviser and has performed with the likes of Cecil Taylor, Peter Brötzmann, and John Zorn. Born in 1946, Roger Turner grew up among the Canterbury musical life of the 1960s with a strong jazz foundation. Since 1974 his work has been concentrated on exploring a more personal percussion language through the processes of improvisation. Solo work; collaborations with experimental rock musics and open-form song; extensive work with dance, film, and visual art; involvements in numerous jazz-based ensembles; and workshop residencies have formed part of that development. Takanehishigu is the audio documentation of the first time these artists played together. The results are a breathtaking new music that remains respectful to the individual traditions while simultaneously subverting them. Yukihiro Isso: Nohkan (Noh flute), shinobue, dengakubue, gemshorn, and recorder. Roger Turner: percussion. Recorded live at Cafe OTO on September 23, 2016, by Shaun Crook, mixed by John Chantler, and mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi. Artwork by Paul Abbott. Edition of 500.

Okkyung is one of the most singular voices to compromise the cello's classical origin, while Orcutt has spent many years developing a unique abstraction of traditional guitar blues. Live at Cafe OTO is an uncompromising combination of these individual elements and an ecstatic improvised assault of mind and sense. Okkyung Lee: cello. Bill Orcutt: guitar.180-gram LP in matte sleeve with artwork by Bill Orcutt. Limited edition of 500.

MANIK Recourse feat. Cari Golden 12"
MANIK returns to Ovum with Recourse. MANIK teams up with LA word-painter Cari Golden. Momentum maintained throughout; things take an unexpected dubby twist as the 'VHS' shimmers and ripples with synth insistency. Rolling hi-hats, hip-snapping clap attacks and a timeless vocal shot build around each other, occasionally revealing a fully-juiced bassline swinging and rolling with total consistency. "Los Angeles Dub" is straight up jack, no chaser: a grainy, analog moment of total unabashed machine-melting funk.

J DILLA The Diary LP
"J Dilla's long lost vocal album, The Diary. The tracks come straight from multi-track masters found on 2-inch tape shortly after Dilla's passing in 2006. Many were mixed by Dilla himself. Those that weren't have been mixed by engineer Dave Cooley, who worked extensively with Dilla during his years in Los Angeles. Using Dilla's original demo mixes as his guide, Cooley attempted to finalize Dilla's vision for these tracks, while keeping all of the elements that Dilla had in place in his original demos present. The Diary is an album of vocal performances recorded between in the early 2000s over production by the likes of Madlib, Pete Rock, Nottz, House Shoes, Karriem Riggins and others."

DE PICCIOTTO & ALEXANDER HACKE, DANIELLE Perseverantia LP+CD
The German-American artist couple Danielle de Picciotto and Alexander Hacke are internationally known, Danielle as the founder of the Love Parade, Alexander since over 35 years for his work with the seminal Berlin group Einstürzende Neubauten and both together as members of the band Crime & The City Solution. Since 2001 they have been creating interdisciplinary projects on stage, in theaters and museums as a duo. Perseverantia will be issued on Neubauten's very own label Potomak. Their last joint venture, the album Hitmans Heel was released in 2011 and a video to the track "Time Is Passing", shot in Mexico under Danielle's direction soon developed into a cult classic. "Perseverantia" means "endurance" or "persistence" and the artist couple, otherwise known for their adventurous lifestyle and unusual experiments are obviously concerned with a different theme this time around. Danielle de Picciotto and Alexander Hacke have been leading a nomadic life since 2010, with no permanent home and travelling from one city to the next. The reason for their restlessness is the overall gentrification, the annihilation of individualism, the rising costs of living and the relentless sellout by the mainstream entertainment industry. "Artists need to find new ways of working now-a-days in order to upkeep integrity and autonomy. The old patterns no longer function." The uncompromising decision to abandon their home has since determined their work. Their search for external & internal clarity, researching archaic principles and philosophies has helped them master the rigors of the road. For the attentive listener, Perseverantia reveals a treasure of their truisms. The album was recorded in the Californian Mojave desert and is mostly instrumental, with a few spoken-word lyrics by Danielle. Together with the throat-singing by Alexander Hacke, the purring and squeaking of the hurdy-gurdy and an ether-plucking harp, melancholic violin melodies and the hum and growl of bass and guitar, one is placed in an acoustic world of mysteries, which floats out of the loudspeakers like an epic movie, both disturbing and mesmerizing. "Perseverantia ad finem optatum" they sing in the title track, and is their main consequence of importance: To successfully achieve a positive goal, we need one thing above all: endurance. No matter how stony the road or wild the storm - we must continue following the path of our destiny. Liebe Li Surrender is not an option - for none of us. Limited to 500 copies worldwide.

TELLIER, SEBASTIEN Marie et les naufrages (La Bande Originale du Film) LP
Sébastien Tellier's music has always fused perfectly with images. Many directors have come to Tellier for original scores -- including Gilles Lellouche and Tristan Aurouet for their 2004 film Narco -- and Tellier's music has been included in soundtracks for many memorable films, including Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation (2003) and Daft Punk's Electroma (2006). Sébastien Betbeder asked Tellier to compose the music for his 2015 film Marie et les naufragés (Marie and the Castaways), starring Eric Cantona. For this score, Tellier chose a retro-futuristic electronic path in the tradition of Giorgio Moroder's music, mirroring the free and off-the-beaten-path tone of the film. With the help of friend and fellow musician John Kirby, Tellier diffuses the film's languid themes with tributes to Marvin Gaye and Ennio Morricone. Instrumental music with a deeply sensual twist. The opening title-cut of Mirror seethes with lithe energy and dubbed-out vitality, whilst elsewhere the eighteen-minute closing track "Sodom & Gomorrah" may be the most dystopian piece of music the band have yet created; a harrowing yet fiercely compelling colossus of bleak abjection. "The tracks were pretty much written on the road in May 2015" elaborates Gnod's Paddy Shine. Reflecting and refracting the uncertainty of a darkening era, Mirror is a work of bold reinvention and raw renewal, sculpting chaos and discord into a formidable statement of intent. SPECTRES Dead 2LP
Double LP version. Dead finds the songs from Bristol band Spectres' acclaimed 2015 debut Dying (SCR 090CD/B-LP) remixed by Mogwai, Factory Floor, Hookworms, Richard Fearless (Death In Vegas), Andy Bell (Ride), Robert Hampson (Loop), and many more. The instruction from the band was "kill our songs," and the remains are presented here as a stunning, 13-track album that builds on the original's feeling of claustrophobia and dread -- which won praise for its perfectly realized Sonic Youth-meets-A Place To Bury Strangers noise coupled with darker than dark lyrics worthy of Morrissey in his prime -- but recasts it across everything from brutal techno (Blood Music's "This Purgatory") to New Order-meets-Animal Collective euphoria (Andy Bell's "Sea Of Trees"). It's an occasionally punishing but always rewarding listen that begins somewhere in the depths of a K-hole, courtesy of Vision Fortune's "Drag," and ends somewhere rather beautiful with the celestial synths of Mogwai's "This Purgatory." (Mogwai's classic Kicking A Dead Pig was a big inspiration here.) "We see Spectres as something that can work in a variety of contexts," says frontman Joe Hatt, as he explains the motivation behind Dead. "Our musical interests spread out in different angles and we are always thinking of ways for what we do to evolve and mutate. We put together a list of artists who we admired, and thought would deliver a varied and eclectic mix. Some were close friends who are conveniently making some of the best music around, and others were pipe dreams that we thought would never happen. It was both nerve-wracking and fun waiting for each of the artists' versions to arrive in our inbox, and some definitely surprised us; but none disappointed." Also includes remixes by Oliver Wilde, Giant Swan, Dominic Mitchison, Gramrcy, and Spectres' Joe Hatt.

EXCELLOS, THE Rise Up LP
LP version. The Excellos - Stompin' rockabilly and blues bop played hard and dirty. The Excellos deliver a solid brand of rockin' blues that'd be rough, tough and hard to bluff for any other band raised this side of the pond. Gaining their name from the famous 1950's American blues record label, they play with the authority and gusto of a blues band that grew straight out of the Mississippi mud. Hailing from good old London these guys have wowed the crowds at many blues and rock'n'roll joints the world over. Active for a good many years the line-up revolved around main man Craig Shaw (vocals, guitar, harmonica). A debut album was released in 2009 through London-based Rollin' Records. This album as well as several 7"-es cemented their reputation as one of the hardest rockin low down dirty rockin-blues combos on this planet. A new line up consisting of Craig Shaw (vocals, guitar, harp), Garry Tyrrell Lynch (drums & bass) and Jake Allen (guitar & double bass - himself being a celebrated wild recording artist) finally recorded a bunch of tracks at Denmark Studios, Maidenhead, UK of which twelve made it onto the new album Rise Up! It took them seven years, but it was worth the wait. Again The Excellos launch into some truly rockin' R&B that really goes for the jugular.

LUCY Self Mythology 2LP
Double LP version. 180-gram vinyl. Gatefold cover with luxurious gloss print. Includes download code. The third entry in Lucy's trio of adventurous full-lengths is visually introduced by artwork of a pearl-bearing shell, designed by Stroboscopic Artefacts resident visual artist (and Lucy's brother) Ignazio Mortellaro. This drops a subtle hint as to the nature of its contents: just as a pearl slowly forms within its enclosing body in response to organic challenges, Lucy's work is also a kind of crystallization of memory and experience into an artifact of great value. Listeners will be struck immediately by how different Self Mythology sounds from past Lucy productions, while still retaining the feel of relentless questing ("precision and exploration," in Lucy's words) that defined his two previous solo albums, Wordplay for Working Bees (2011) and Churches Schools and Guns (SA 005CD/STROBO 002LP, 2014). The album is enriched by several layers of ambience and by the wordless, improvisational (yet still somehow narrative) vocals and flute of Jon Jacobs. Without a doubt, it's an album with an initiatory atmosphere best heard in one sitting, with as little interruption as possible. However, unlike many initiatory rites, this is no arduous ordeal; great care has gone into connecting each chapter of the album with the same silver thread of entrancing storytelling. On standout pieces like "She-Wolf Night Mourning," electronic arpeggiation and persistent synthetic flutters perfectly merge with the unique tone colors of resonant acoustic percussion and pensive woodwind. Elsewhere, pieces like "A Selfless Act" reconcile technoid pulses with melancholic yet intoxicating echoes of Mediterranean musical traditions. Interestingly, many of the tracks on Self Mythology refer to old legends and well-known fairytales or to more broadly defined states of consciousness ("Samsara," which features an especially strong, sustained choral interplay between glassy synth sequences and earthy flute sonorities). This is where the album is truly unique and relevant in its ambition. The interplay between the graphic design, the vocal and flute performances of Jacobs, and the sound design chosen by Lucy aims to be an intimate audio autobiography of its creators while also referring back to the stories that have shaped human destiny for millennia. This work is a meditation upon the reciprocity between personal hopes and fears and collective dreams and nightmares; an exploration of the endless interplay between the universal and the deeply individual. It is the tale of that uncanny process by which our own conscious experience draws from the pool of archetypal information, while also contributing to it.

JUNIOR KIMBROUGH WITH THE SOUL BLUES BOYS Do The Rump! LP
2016 repress. "In 1979, historian David Evans, a professor of music at the University of Memphis, chanced upon Junior Kimbrough playing at Ethel's Juke Joint in Holly Springs. The University had recently created its own small record label called High Water and he brought Kimbrough in to cut some sides, including his next single titled, 'Keep Your Hands Off Her.' The sides would be compiled for Junior's first full-length album, Do The Rump!. The result has become hill country legend, and his band, featuring Calvin Jackson on drums (father to Cedric Burnside and one of the most rock steady drummers of all time), created a sound that launched a whole new generation of blues fans. This is the first time this record appears on vinyl." On 180 gram vinyl.

MIRA UN LOBO! Heart Beats Slow LP+CD
LP version. Includes CD. Music as catharsis: a Portuguese artist is driven into an existential crisis by the economic woes of his country, and cascades of electronica show him the way out. Something about Mira, un Lobo! strikes a poetic nerve in the mavens of our time -- US blogger Kavit Sumud (The Sights and Sounds, Indie Shuffle) is inspired by the project's "complex electronica, cascading circadian rhythms . . . serotonin streams and dopamine dancefloors." UK blog Repeat Button marvels at the "unbelievably, inexplicably, insanely intoxicating" work, with "synths so sublime I feel like maybe heaven is actually here on earth." Once in a while, an album comes along that has the capacity to inspire such elegies. Great art is often born of hard times and the celestial splendor thus described is very much a product of life on terra firma. Portuguese artist Luis F. de Sousa knows the harsh realities of life only too well, as he recounts: "Struck by unemployment, crises and depression, we live in hiding, numb, under our sheets, hoping and trying our best to sleep and forget. Mira, un Lobo! allowed me to drift away whilst still being awake, facing adversity, oblivious of any consequences." Such cathartic intensity mirrors the influence of artists like Sigur Rós, M83, Julianna Barwick, and Sufjan Stevens. As befits such a personal album, de Sousa wrote and recorded the songs at home, alone, unencumbered by schedules or deadlines. What began as a musical diary evolved almost subliminally into a full-fledged album. At this point, de Sousa called up several of his gifted friends -- "to smooth the edges," as he puts it. Ricardo Fialho co-produced the album, with de Sousa's former MAU bandmates helping out on guitars (Carlos Costa) and backing vocals (Eli Fernandes). And, as de Sousa reveals, one more very special guest also makes an appearance on the album: "I used my son's voice from when he was a baby on one song." What better way to give a voice to innocence, to new beginnings? In spite of the nearly crippling uncertainties of the current economic climate, which has hit Portugal to such visceral effect, Heart Beats Slow offers hope that a better future may not be beyond reach. Not so much blind escapism as pragmatic perspective, highlighting art's potential for rejuvenation and replenishment.

CLIQUES Dotted EP 12"
Cliques - the collaborative project of Hamish Dixon and George Nicholas - fuse rolling techno momentum with a sound system focus. They present the Dotted EP. Title track "Dotted" sees Cliques take their sparse productions to the limit, focusing on intricate drum programming, an intense bassline and a tightly wound melody. "Untitled" features skittering hats and bassline giving way to a melancholic breakdown. Dro Carey remixes "Dotted" and mutates the melody of the original even further, the broken drum patterns playfully switching up and releasing the tension. Finally, "8th" rounds off the EP with swung drums and murky atmospheres.

CTRLS Nonuser 12"
Token's 60th release comes with Ctrls's seventh exclusive EP on the imprint. The EP opens with "Vocabulary". A rigid percussive framework provides the perfect, albeit heavy backdrop to the track's distorted, detuned pads and tightly enveloped, morphing lead. Nonuser's title track takes dancers into slightly more bizarre territory. It's unrelenting kick drum propels staccato, cut up hi-hats alongside a sporadic melody that falls slightly outside the grid. The release ends with "The Wave", a subtler track. Timbre rich chords fade in and out over a thick and rolling low end.

KMD Mr. Hood 2LP
2016 repress; 2004 release. "KMD (Kausing Much Damage, or a positive Kause in a Much Damaged society) was a hip hop group in the early 90s perhaps best known for launching the career of acclaimed MC/Producer MF Doom (known during his KMD tenure as Zev Love X). After guesting on 3rd Bass' 'The Gas Face,' the trio (Zev, brother Subroc, and Onyx) released the acclaimed and overlooked Mr. Hood full-length. Their political outlook was similar to the group Brand Nubian, who guested on Hood; however, the style was more comical and included a great deal of clips from old children's recordings, mostly notably a sample of the Sesame Street character Bert on the single 'Who Me?' This is the official Elektra Records/Traffic Entertainment Group re-release with original artwork and track listing in its entirety. Cutting edge, ahead of its time production and skits from KMD and Stimulated Dummies (John Gamble and Mr. Dante Ross). Features the singles 'Peachfuzz', 'Who Me?' and 'Nitty Gritty' (feat. Brand Nubian). This is one rap album that is not to be missed."

JUNGLE BROTHERS Straight Out the Jungle 2LP
2016 repress. "De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest may have been more commercially successful, but the afrocentric, jazz political rap movement and unfadeable Native Tounge Massive started with the Jungle Brothers. Their debut full length Straight Out the Jungle opened up many doors that are walked through by today's artists like Mos Def, Common and even Kanye West. Their taste for jazzy horn samples helped kick-start the entire jazz-rap movement, and their James Brown fixation was one of the first. Plus, the group's groundbreaking collaboration with legendary house producer Todd Terry, 'I'll House You,' paved the way for numerous hip-house hybrids that shot up the dance and pop charts over the next few years and appeared to be a staple on every East Coast Rap Album from '88 until '92. The opening track 'Straight Out the Jungle' samples the classic Bill Withers drum break as the JB's tell you where they are coming from. 'Black Is Black' (featuring a young Q-Tip) and 'Sounds Of The Safari' introduces the pro-black edge, while the sexually subtle classics 'Jimbrowski' and 'I'm Gonna Do You' are funny, clever and timely. Hard, smart, fun, clever and brilliant, Mike G., Africa Baby Bam and Sammy G may not have realized it but they crafted a classic rap album that stands the test of time. Available here on high grade, loud pressed, double vinyl for the first time ever!"

ATKINS & MORITZ VON OSWALD PRESENT BORDERLAND, JUAN Transport 2LP
Double LP version. Juan Atkins and Moritz von Oswald -- the two indispensable protagonists of the "Electric Garden" -- plug back into the wilderness. Transport brings together a set of studio-refined sequences aimed at colonizing some of the dark energy that pulsates through those areas that are thoroughly electrified, even if not on the grid. The Detroit-Berlin axis triangulates to a third point that, like the atomic particle that lives in two places at once, flickers between a form of techno-charged ambience and a futuristic club-jazz that cannot be broken down into constitutive parts. Borderland remains caught in a state of enraptured stillness, invisibly moving between every imagined future for electronic sound making. The result: a font from which springs serene and exhilarating musical ideas that vibrate with refined energy for 60 seconds in every minute.

BARTOS, KARL 15 Minutes Of Fame 7"
Communication is the debut solo album by ex-Kraftwerk member Karl Bartos. Originally released in 2003, 13 years after leaving the legendary electronic group. Originally released in 2000, the programmatic track "15 Minutes of Fame" was the first single Bartos released and was an exciting peek into the world that was his upcoming full album. Inspired by Andy Warhol's statement, "In the future, everybody will be world famous for 15 minutes," Bartos used this as a template to comment on the increasing rise of celebrity culture unleashed by casting shows, reality TV programs, cooking contests etc.

Brussels-based duo GoldFFinch (chosen by DJ Mag as "Ones To Watch Out For 2016") follow debut releases on Valence and Exit Strategy, a feature on Innervisions' Secret Weapons series, and remixes for electronic music pioneers The Black Dog and Black Devil Disco Club with Proliferation. "Proliferation" is a versatile, understated club weapon, expertly building and releasing tension without resorting to obvious rises or superfluous tricks. "Shape" adds the claps-on-kicks jack without losing the hypnotic vibe. "For Future Use," which Warp legends The Black Dog remix to close it out, nods to the Warp legends with synth lines that recall old-school Warp electronics.

ZOOM Sweet Desperation LP
"Bored of cover bands and Toronto's stagnant bar scene, Chris Haight and John Hamilton formed Zoom in 1976, inspired by such pre-punk touchstones as the Velvet Underground, Roxy Music, Bowie and Sparks. The band quickly set to gigging locally, but were soon caught up in the punk scene that exploded to life around them. An obscure but seminal 1977 45 -- arguably Toronto's first punk record-- was their sole release before the band dissolved as Haight joined the Viletones and Hamilton began drumming for the Diodes. Despite their duties in two of Canada's leading punk bands, however, the pair didn't want great songs like 'Schoolgirl Hitch Hiker', 'My Baby's Got No Brains' and 'They Only Come Out At Night' to go undocumented, so they entered the studio in 1978 to get this stuff on tape. Produced by Bob Segarini and BB Gabor, and with musical contributions from members of The Ugly, The B-Girls and The Curse, the session captured a pretty special time in Toronto music history. It seems especially poignant that it would then remain unheard for decades. In 2014, Hamilton, who had gone on to an illustrious career of his own but had never entirely forgotten Zoom, located the tapes and had them professionally baked and restored. A trove of photographs, flyers and graphics was similarly uncovered, and now Ugly Pop is very pleased to announce a 13-track LP."

NITAM Cancellate EP 12"
Nitam presents Cancellate EP taking a similar line as his debut Retold EP. Nitam outlines once again his interest in dance music from the late '80s and early '90s, without limiting himself to a restricted pallet of styles. "Keen Insight" has an almost romantic, dreamy and hazy vibe. "Perception" is a more functional and club-enabled cut, taking shape with an acid-informed bassline and moaning synth pads. "Influx" features a springy, muffled yet muscular kick alongside a rising synth line. "Cancellate" has an almost dubstep-like, placid rhythm progression and drive while being dominated by ceremonial synth pads and keyboard speckles.
