GESING/BJORN MEYER/SAMUEL ROHRER, KLAUS Amiira LP
LP version. Includes poster and download code. Songs without words, suggestive and emotional transparency and connection, contemplation and departure, meditation and attack: this music fascinates from the very beginning. It has no need to boast or become talkative, but stays true to itself as it casually develops its poignant pulse and lets it grow, and grow. The web of sounds soon begins to radiate from within, it inspires images in one's head, and invites to musing and introspection. Against the background of a wide horizon the details of their music join, develop a life of their own, and lift off to collective flights of ideas. This music is an invitation to listen without prejudice, offering a way to get lost in dreams while, at the same time, remaining solidly grounded and completely awake. There are many connections between bass clarinetist/soprano saxophonist Klaus Gesing, bassist Björn Meyer and drummer Samuel Rohrer. The experience of playing together and sharing their innovative spirit is a pre-requisite for the artistic co-operation of this new trio, in which the love of adventure and improvisation takes precedence over the pre-composed. Because of this the evocative power of their interaction can generate such strength, the give-and-take of their musical discourse being so intimate. In this music a unique sound structure grows from within itself, layer-by-layer, and involves and enchants the listener. It is broadly emotional and without mystique or pretension. How else could these delicate dialogues develop such gravitational pull and magic? Acoustic and electronic sounds, sensuous rhythms, sumptuous woodwind-songs, earthen and ethereal bass lines, grooves and vibrant atmospheres all merge with one another and graciously rise from silence to hypnotic beauty. The inner logic of the trio's interaction is compelling for it neither strives for attention nor takes the listener unawares. It grows and spreads coherently like a natural organism. The three of them have, each in their own right, worked with outstanding vocalists. Samuel Rohrer with Laurie Anderson and Sidsel Endresen, Klaus Gesing with Norma Winstone, Björn Meyer with Asita Hamidi - all of whom are vocalists that can evoke textures with delicate poise, avoiding trends, and express them in an entirely personal way. It also characterizes the unique quality of this trio's instrumental music: richly colored, highly concentrated and finely balanced, it develops a life of its own without ever imposing itself on the listener.

PRINCE MPLSound CD
2016 repress. Originally released in 2009. On MPLSound, Prince took his retro mission to offer up such tight, funky electro grooves as "(There'll Never B) Another Like Me" and "Ol' Skool Company." Part of what was originally released as a triple album was also released as a double LP with Lotusflow3r. "Prince played every instrument on MPLSound just like the old days, only now he gets obsessive with Pro Tools. He isn't as bawdy as he once was (becoming a Jehovah's Witness will do that), but he's still got a lot of humor and swagger. On the funky '(There'll Never B) Another Like Me,' he sings about his beauty routine (it involves olive oil in his hair), and on the seven-and-a-half-minute 'Ol' Skool Company,' he covers issues from the TARP bailout to the state of radio ('If the White House is black/We gotta take the radio back')." - Gavin Edwards (Rolling Stone, 2009)

CAROLINE K Now Wait For Last Year LP
First ever vinyl reissue of Caroline K's outstanding 1985 album, Now Wait For Last Year. This haunting, wistful work of post-industrial synthesizer music - the late Nocturnal Emissions co-founder's only solo record - has accrued a fervent cult following over the past 30 years, and copies of the original pressing are today extremely sought-after. Tags like industrial, minimal synth or proto-techno can't really do justice to the richly cinematic sound-world that Caroline Kaye Walters, aka Caroline K, describes as "from the sustained ambient tension of sidelong opener 'The Happening World' to the future-primitive rhythms and stately piano flourishes of 'Animal Lattice', and the melancholic, deep-frozen synth sequences of 'Chearth'." Fans of Wendy Carlos's A Clockwork Orange, Chris Carter's The Space Between, and early Detroit techno should pay special attention, but this searching, future-proof masterpiece demands to be heard by all.

BANABILA, MICHEL Early Works: Things Popping Up from the Past LP
LP version. Numerous threads run through the music of sound artist, composer, and producer Michel Banabila (born 1961), whose contemporary work ranges from adventurous electronic cross-breeding of chamber instrumentation through industrial rhythmic sampling and outwardbound modular synthesis to deeply elegiac drones. This set collects the Dutch artist's instrumental 1980s work -- beautiful minimal loop-based electronica, classical-influenced pieces, and ambient drone music -- documenting his early years with material originally released as cassettes, vinyl EPs, and limited CDs. Banabila's piano echoes with a disarming simplicity, its atmospheric gestures bringing to mind the proto-minimalism of Erik Satie. The melody could easily be an additional hundred years old -- except for the fact that the refined patterning is something that likely only could have been pursued in light of the music of Michael Nyman and Philip Glass. The equipment on which this music was made, notably an early sampler, was limited in various ways, key among them the relatively circumspect set of capabilities, especially in terms of memory storage, and the lack of received performance techniques. The equipment was simple and it was new, and neither factor limited Banabila's ambition; on the contrary, the tools concentrated his imagination. If the classical pieces represent the Old World as framed by the new, then the more recognizably "electronic" work here is likewise most at home in a fictional place, an idealized zone. That zone is a quiet neighborhood in the Fourth World, to borrow Jon Hassell's terminology, one in which digital tools render something that is, for all its technological dependency, ultimately a form of folk music -- an otherworldly folk music for another time. Fidgety percussion plays amid a fierce but restrained guitar line (there are echoes of Laurie Anderson and Adrian Belew). An ambiguous and elongated drone, thick with subliminal activity, beautiful in its toxic anxiety, suggests dire activity on the horizon. And yet the horizon wasn't dire. Quite the contrary; what was ahead for Banabila was a long string of releases, a healthy and well-documented career in which so many of these individual threads have been provided time and space to have entire records dedicated to their pursuit. This album of archival works documents the continuity inherent in Banabila's music. It is a map in musical form, tracing a path that crisscrosses back and forth between the Old World and the Next.

BAUMANN, PETER Machines of Desire LP+CD
LP version. Includes CD. "In October 2014 an idea suddenly came to mind. Although I had spent much of my life performing, recording and producing music, my attention over the immediately preceding years had been focused on the philosophy and psychology of human nature. It was a rewarding exploration, but I missed being more creative -- suddenly I felt the urge to play music again. I built a recording studio in my basement and began writing material for the first time in a long while. In November I called Edgar Froese and we met in early January 2015 in Austria. It was an extraordinary encounter and it seemed like it would lead to a renewed collaboration after several decades. As many of you now know Edgar passed away on January 20th 2015, I miss him dearly. Machines of Desire is filled with many influences, not least of them, my time with Tangerine Dream. Recording this album has been a very rich experience that fulfilled my creative desires, with more to come. The title, Machines of Desire, reflects my belief that as human beings we're driven relentlessly by our deepest desires: the desire to experience life and love, to be heard and seen, to connect with others, to be safe, to find meaning and purpose . . . and countless more. We find ourselves in the drama of everyday life with uncertainty at every step, with fear of loss and existential loneliness, and only occasionally interrupted by the fundamental joy of being alive." --Peter Baumann, February 2016

HEIMANN, MARTIN Salto 12"
Frankfurt based producer and DJ Martin Heimann presents his debut single Salto. Enrooted in the soundscapes of '80s proto house the original version of "Salto" is a thriving piece of octave liberation. Consistent changes between harmonics break up the repetitive structure, while FM pads and the 303 are performing a little duet. The release is ennobled by two proper remixes from Moon B and Jex Opolis. While Moon B keeps it bubblin' with some subtle Italo dance floor energy, the B-Side is Jexi-fied with some embellishment to the cords, change in the bassline and a nice 808 snap.

DOLAT-SHAHI, DARIUSH Electronic Music, Tar and Sehtar LP
Limited 2016 repress. This release will undoubtedly be met by the same deep breaths that have been shared by the small group of collectors who, over the past few years, have held original copies of this rare Folkways release in such high regard. In simple terms this LP is the kind of record you wished existed while nothing really came close to the mark. Respectfully and subtly combining traditional Persian instrumentation, modular synth exercises, field recordings and tape manipulation -- this debut release from 1985 by Dariush Dolat-Shahi bridges multiple cultural and stylistic voids and vindicates the vinyl-buying market's disparate interests in bygone Eastern experimental rock music, radio-phonic experiments, musique-concrete, sound design, neo-tantric meditational records and other early accidental acidic electro murmurs. For those who enjoyed the re-contextualized music of Ilaiyaraaja and Charanjit Singh while holding tight to the legacy of Pierre Schaeffer, Daphne Oram, Ilhan Mimaroglu, and harbor penchants for all things drone, Teutonic, electronic, demonic, and euphoric, this record has just changed all your plans for the weekend. A perfect primer for the aforementioned labels and a proud indication of what to expect from this eternally studious camp in 2013. Cut at Dubplates & Mastering.

KATZ, ELON The Human Pet LP
Elon Katz (White Car, Streetwalker) aligns perfectly with Diagonal in a prickling debut vocal release, The Human Pet; containing an intensely personal, puckered perspective on electronic dance music and experimental pop. Structured around a schizoid yet coherent juncture of EBM, IDM, curdled rock music and art school techno-pop, The Human Pet is riddled with idiosyncratic notions on "cryptic topics like rebirth, nullification in stream speed adaptivity, dependence and wealth inequality" to portray a unique intellect and sonic vocabulary operating at the crux of his expressive powers. The project began circa 2012, around the time of Katz's relocation from L.A. to art school in Chicago, and cocks a canny snook, both through candid lyrics and obsessive edits, back towards the megatropolis where he was born and spent much of his youth. It can therefore be considered an attempt to better understand himself in relief of big city manias by channeling and parsing his own stubborn outsider personality from the madness. It feels like a concise dissection of Chicago's industrial history and Californian digital psychedelia; probing at their twisted, fluoro-guts with the inquisitive nature of a mad scientist or psycho-analyst between the yelping, warped and hyper-piquant yacht boogie of "The Rhino Powder of New Sensitivity" and a heavily affected dislocation of harmonized pop hooks and whirring body mechanics in "Clean Crash". It all occupies a strange perch between introspective and exuberant, veering from mid-'90s Aphex Twin-like pop reflection in "You Are Alone", to signature Diagonal tackle in the gas-chugging EBM-pop force of "The Human Pet", whereas unarmed twists into fractal phantasies, all of which maintain a thread of logic that belies the record's period of refinement and distillation. There can be little doubt that this is one of the most complex, rigorous and distinctive in Diagonal's catalogue. Closer attention is required. File amid records by Luc Van Acker, Aphex Twin, Savant, Powell. Mastered and cut by Matt Colton. Artwork by Guy Featherstone. Edition of 500.

NAUJOKS, CHRISTIAN Wave LP
LP version. Christian Naujoks follows his 2009 self-titled debut (DIAL 013CD) and his piano-focused 2012 follow-up, True Life/In Flames (DIAL 024CD/LP), with his third album, Wave, a work dedicated to the electric guitar. Inspired by The Durutti Column, John Fahey, Vincent Gallo, Azalia Snail, David Grubbs, and many others, Christian Naujoks breaks the boundaries between songwriting and minimalism; between folk music and contemporary art. The recording sessions at Electric Avenue Studios were accompanied by engineering master Tobias Levin, known for his work with Kreidler, Faust, Felix Kubin, and Pantha Du Prince & The Bell Laboratory, to name a few. With Wave, Naujoks and Levin create a seductive, state-of-the-art production of ten post-minimalist guitar pieces with an appearance of the artist's signature piano style on two of the songs. This release follows Naujoks's work with his band Sky Walking (with RVDS and Lawrence) and his 2016 piano cassette on Martin Hossbach's eponymous imprint (CABACH 001CS).

He now decides to give it the vinyl treatment with specially commissioned artwork from Belgium artist, Elzo Durt. It unapologetically stitches together field recordings, sound generators, random loops and "unfinished" compositions to accompany weird spoken word moments. It kick started the self-penned Gonzo collage style. "Gonzo has created one of the best tapes I've ever heard, bar none, with Dies Irae. Never to these ears, at least on a cassette, has a collage-style collection of samples and other assorted sounds/noises/atmospheric devices come together so convincingly, as if each element was created strictly to serve the purposes of the end product.'' - Tiny Mix Tapes

First split LP in a brand new series of collaborations, pairing artists working on the fringes - or not at all. Blood Stereo are Dylan Nyoukis and Karen Constance, a British institution, the sound complete immersion for people who don't immerse easily. Idiot twins Burchill and Slim may behave as though they own Sussex, but Constance and Nyoukis are immune to their surroundings, making livid eyes at confused glitter vixens up and down this squalid Isle. Hair & Treasure are Alex Jones and Gonçalo F Cardoso, a prankster randy dust duo from nowhere dwelling on tape loops and webbed finger piano ballads. DEATH IN VEGAS Transmission 3LP
Gatefold 3LP version on 180 gram vinyl. Includes download code. Death in Vegas returns with Transmission, the sixth release from the project begun by Richard Fearless nearly two decades ago. This album forges new miles on the path Fearless carved with Satan's Circus and Trans-Love Energies, and is born of his desire for an ever more raw, refined sound. United over a love of Throbbing Gristle and Chris & Cosey, Fearless partners with artist and writer Sasha Grey, whose lyrics resonate across the soundscape of visceral techno and unsettling, discordant drones, weaving into a state of dreamlike euphoria. Field recordings of the constant drone of air traffic and incessant noise from the steel factory opposite Fearless' Metal Box studio, as well as the Ballardian landscape in which it's set, all exert their pull on the record, searching for light in the dark.

LEWIS, KLARA Too LP
LP version. Following her acclaimed 2014 debut, Ett (EMEGO 190LP), and the subsequent Msuic EP on Peder Mannerfelt's eponymous label (2014), Klara Lewis presents her second full-length, Too. Lewis's skill at sculpting the hermetic shines on Too as she twists her idiosyncratic vision into nine tracks of blurred rhythms and haunted backdrops. Too is a powerful statement in which the individual works tread a vast landscape as dour and aggressive elements rub shoulders with warmer, more optimistic works. Neither looking behind nor forward, these works spiral in a time of their own devising, presenting themselves as a most audacious theater for the ear. With a strong momentum developed from an organic outset the works move into a logic of their own, forming themselves as abstract landscapes, jittered rhythms, and even pop-like structures. Too is a deeply engaging display of sound and skewered sensibility that hovers on the cusp of reason and eludes the concrete. The results are Lewis's boldest statement to date. Written, produced, and mixed by Klara Lewis. Additional sound contributions on "Twist" and "Want" by Simon Fisher Turner. Mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, February 2016. Drawing by Klara Lewis. Layout by Andreas Karperyd.

BURNT HILLS Live At The Low Beat LP
Live At The Low Beat was recorded to digital handheld recorder and mastered in Manchester by Dom Tanner, took place on December 4th 2014, at a local eatery regularly frequented by Burnt Hills. It was the first of what, it has been decided, will be an annual Burnt Hills performance outside the basement. Nine of the ten full-time members of the band were in attendance on this night and it's safe to assume that they were all pretty well smoked, fed and oiled by the time they took to the stage. Close to 50 minutes in total, this is the most savage, raging, oblivion-bound Burnt Hills set yet committed to wax. There's a whole bucket-load of sensitive noodling amidst the chaos - along with the obligatory shred - but it's, of course, the six-guitar pile-up that really takes this crescendo-obsessed troupe of suburban weirdos into the "Lord take me now!" zone. Edition of 250 copies. 140g vinyl in super heavyweight casebound jackets with black paper inners. Cover art by Dylan Hughes (Desmadrados Soldados De Ventura).

ACHER, CONNIE For Giving LP
Connie Acher is the songwriting pseudonym of NYC artist Melodie Provenzano. Known primarily for her hyper-realist paintings, which undermine her love of 20th Century detritus, her debut album for Golden Lab Records, For Giving, gives way to similar thought paths. Titles such as "Treasure", "Rats" and "Precious" (with its repeated pay-off, "Someday we'll all be gone") tells stories of a young woman in early 21st Century New York City, which are at once banal and weighty. Her deadpan voice delivers sublime melodies over sauntering cadences of unadorned instrumentation - acoustic guitar, bass, drums, Casios, Crumars and their ilk - which reinforce a junkshop theme. They're everyday songs of love and loss - drab revenants of 20th Century ideals doomed to haunt us through our memory of promise. Stunning in their understatedness. they take us back to a simpler time. 180g vinyl with super heavyweight casebound tip-on jackets.

First track "Looney Tubas" samples sounds from the Looney tunes propaganda cartoon "Tokio Jokio" (1943). Angel dusty funk is one way to describe it. Title track "Omikron" contains sounds of neurons being fired in an anesthetized cat´s brain in an experiment conducted by neurophysiologist Torsten Wiesel. "Univerb" combines a slow, nervy bassline with sounds from a police video of a sports car formerly owned by the Swedish king, Carl Gustaf, being chased by police. "Lovewasinme", the second Kim Gordon track sounds like running a Teutonic truck against a wall-of-sound. The B-side "Up In Smoke" is a film score in itself, yet to be screened in your private head-theater.

Anyone listening to this selection should try to envision himself floating on an ocean of Satchidanandaji's love, which is literally carrying countless devotees across the vicissitudes and stormy blasts of life to the other shore. ATLAS Solitude EP 12"
Debut EP from Atlas - contemporary of Keysound family member Etch. The Solitude EP's title track has a pensive melodic tension broken only by skeletal drum flickers and sub gravity. It builds through layers of abstraction over four minutes towards a massive emotional apex. "On the Cusp" explores similar themes, using fragments of wistful dialog interwoven with skeletal drums. The EP concludes with "Alone In A Timespan", yet further taking the form & function to near collapse. Finally, it pulls back, returning to more familiar club dynamics with the dubby, bass-heavy rolling of "Calm".

2016 repress; 2013 release. Edward Artemiev's re-recording of his scores to Andrei Tarkovsky's classic films ??????? (Mirror) (1975) and ??????? (Stalker) (1979), reissued on 180-gram vinyl. When Artemiev recorded these scores in Moscow in 1989 and '90, there were no legitimately available releases of the original soundtracks. Artemiev chose to fill that void himself with these recordings, released on Torso Kino in the Netherlands as part of a 1990 double-LP set also containing re-recordings of Artemiev's score to ??????? This set is now long out of print, and Mirumir is pleased to present the collection on two separate LP releases, remastered, with new artwork, and officially licensed by the artist himself.

Catz n' Dogz announce Upsi Bubsi. The opening and title track is a certified floor filler from the get-go. The track opens with a thunderous mix of 909 loops alongside a repeated throb of intense arpeggiated bass. The track is peppered with splurges of crashing cymbals, rolling toms and the hypnotic looped vocal whispering "Don't stop". "Elixir" offers a different experience to its counterpart with a collage of rising melodic chords and an 808 break beat. The track is a beautiful arrangement of graceful choir sounding melodies over warm sub-bass chords, seemingly inspired by early '90s Detroit.

GRAY Shades Of... CD
2016 restock, last available copies. In downtown New York City, in 1979, painter Jean-Michel Basquiat and performance artist Michael Holman founded their industrial-sound band, Gray. Jean named the band after Gray's Anatomy, an important reference source for his paintings and the perfect name to capture the haunting, machine-like ambient music the band wrote and performed. In the Whitney Museum's catalog for Basquiat's 1991 Retrospective, Robert Farris Thompson, professor of Anthropology at Yale, wrote this about Gray: "They worked the Mudd Club, CBGB's, and Hurrah's in New York, where Blondie and the Talking Heads were at that time emerging. They performed, in other words, at the epicenter of New Wave. Here they contended for space and recognition with a style that, in Basquiat's own words, was 'incomplete, abrasive, and oddly beautiful.'" In an Interview magazine review (Jan. 1981) Glenn O'Brien wrote: "Gray became an industrial sound effects band. They played on scaffolds ... Lately, they've really developed their own groove... it's sort of an easy listening bebop industrial sound effects lounge ensemble." Besides Basquiat and Holman, other members of the original group were Nicholas Taylor, Justin Thyme and Vincent Gallo. Just after Jean-Michel Basquiat's passing in 1988, Holman, Taylor, Thyme and Gallo re-united as Gray and performed at Basquiat's Memorial at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in the Citicorp Building. In 1996, the making of the MiraMax feature production Basquiat brought Gray's three original members (Holman, Taylor & Thyme) back together as they reenacted one of their legendary gigs at the Mudd Club with Tony Award-winning actor Jeffrey Wright playing Jean-Michel Basquiat. While reenacting their Mudd Club gig, the members of Gray realized that 1990's pop/ambient music sounded a lot like what Gray was doing in the past. Inspired by their own historic sound, the band decided to return to the studio to create and record new music. This "new" Gray sound evolved from industrial bebop to electronica with poetic vocals and groovy beats. Michael Holman and Nicholas Taylor have now reunited once again to produce the first Gray album ever, titled, Shades Of... on their own label, Plush Safe Records, that harkens back to Gray's sonic roots -- industrial noise melded with electronic atmospheres. This multi-track compilation includes and involves sample tracks from Gray's earliest recordings and performances, with samples of Basquiat's music and voice. Included is a solo performance by Basquiat (recorded by Justin Thyme) called "Suicide Hotline," where Basquiat, in 1980, called a suicide hotline, and in dramatic, and darkly teasing fashion, reads bits of his poetry to the hotline operator, never allowing the operator to know for sure if the "caller" is insane, suicidal, or simply toying with him. The effect of the piece is powerful and disturbing, yet poignant and moving in a way only Basquiat could produce. The other tracks range from Stockhausen-inspired fugues, to trip-hop lanced throw-downs. Holman & Taylor were fortunate to work with John Cale's drummer Dean Anthony on this new music, as well as fabled Tubes drummer, Prairie Prince and downtown scenester/drummer, Lenny Ferraro. Shades Of... is not only a living piece of New York history, it's also an audio interpretation of a journey to where Taylor & Holman see the future of music.

PROSTITUTES Ghost Detergent LP
After countless singles, LPs, and performances around the world, James Donadio is back with his first full-length effort since 2014's Petit Cochon (SP 035LP). Ghost Detergent is a consummate amalgam of fried gear, chunky bass, and fractured samples. Donadio's extraordinary ability to fuse his wide range of influences into a collection of lucidly executed and concise jams has reached its pinnacle. Ghost Detergent is a rhythm-centric maze of fluctuating patterns adorned with crooked fills and raucous melody. Tracks like "Nerve and Gall" and "Government Wrecker" stomp with a coarse, grinding fuss gliding on swinging, bottomless bassline turbulence. Locked-in, puzzle-like sampling patchwork collides perfectly with an array of rogue electronics, creating a sense of daring nearly extinct in the age of gridlocked, BPM-steady 12"s. Tracks like "Pregnant Toad" and "Cheap Amplifiers" play out like a Def Jam bonus beat with ripping, cough syrup-slathered DMX snare sounds. Ghost Detergent has an unhinged, unrelenting churn that stares squarely into a personal vacuum, remaining uninfluenced by the influencers and unflinching in its originality. Neither bird nor egg are relevant here. Prostitutes has managed to carve out its own tenure in contemporary electronic music by delivering in live performance and by shattering expectations on records. Never does the aesthetic outweigh the content, and Ghost Detergent delivers only the wheat and none of the chaff. Conceived, recorded, and mixed at Elbur House, 2014. Mastered by Giuseppe Tillieci at EnnisLab, Rome.

PARSON SOUND Pärson Sound 3LP BOX
2016 repress. Deluxe triple LP box set. A spectacular archival package of primitive drone and minimalist rock/trance/psych from the Swedish underground -- believe the hype as follows; one of the most memorable audio documents ever. After years of research, Subliminal Sounds is proud to present the nucleus of the Swedish 1960s-'70s underground psych rock scene: the legendary Pärson Sound. This deluxe 3LP box set presents the most remarkable Swedish underground band, known in a later incarnation and continuation as International Harvester and Träd, Gräs och Stenar (trans. "Trees, Grass and Stones"), and features both intricate studio recordings and orgiastic live performances. Pärson Sound never released any records in their time and that is why very few have heard about them at all. The recordings date from 1967-1968 while the band explored unknown musical territory as well as inner- and outer space. In 1968, they were invited by Andy Warhol to play at the opening of his exhibition: "Screens, Films, Boxes, Clouds and a Book" at the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm and they also opened for The Doors. Influenced by the musical concepts of Terry Riley, Pärson Sound worked at discovering and perfecting their own unique approach towards the mixing of rock and minimalism, creating some of the most remarkable psych- trance-drone-pre-noise music-rock sounds ever recorded. Pärson Sound's music described contexts, interplay and organic growth and shaped a conception of the world in opposition to fragmentation, individual achievements and intellectual construction. This world was to be perceived as one body, a whole of inviolable parts. Their minimalist repetition with slight changes renders associations with slow growth, cyclic process, breathing, pulse, life, movement and machines. This persistent repetition also gives the listener an opportunity to discover the sounds, to meditate, to go into the music and join the same journey. Many times, one can discover a relationship with music of other cultures, and in comparison, the music of the Western world can feel cursory, unreliable -- as a fear of entering deep into feeling. Pärson Sound's compositions often consist of harsh structures -- rhythm patterns with ostinato bass, a melodic figure which forms a base for improvisation. Other songs have a more thoroughly-elaborated structure that still leaves room for variation. The moment, the audience, the location formed their music. Their key phrase was "We, Here and Now!" and with time, the music came to have an increasingly religious or shamanistic streak, with more intensity, presence and warmth, striving for euphoria and ecstasy. The band's psychedelic approach is so fresh and vital that it transcends time. Listen to it now! A 3LP with informative, revised liner notes in English and lots of photos.

HASHISH A Product of Hashish LP
LP version in deluxe silver foil sleeve. Limited edition of 499. Includes poster. The long-awaited debut album from Hashish. Top-class psychedelia, taking the genre to a new level with a sophisticated approach to Afro-funk grooves accompanied by dreamy, playful melodies that range through a spectrum of Scandinavian occult psychedelia, minimal synth, surreal electronic soul disco, and rare groove. Some have described Hashish as a project that picks up what Goat started. Welcome to tomorrow. The sounds transport the listener into a forgotten world where the future looks different from what it became. On his soft, subtle island capped with clouds of cool fire, Pan weaves his teachings with the wind and the sun, raining sacred melodies on the hearts and minds of humanity and bestowing desperate loves and yearnings with songs of sainthood and madness. Transient temples of the flesh, laughing at death, clothe our lives in fire. On rippling altars of skin we sensual magicians worship bright burning desire. Upon release the album sky rocketed straight into #1 on the official Swedish vinyl chart.

NENGO AND THE DODO WOMEN'S GROUP, OGOYA On Mande LP
LP version with printed inner sleeve. Includes download code. Ever since her childhood, Ogoya Nengo, baptized Anastasia Oluoch in about 1940, would excite listeners around her village with her singing abilities. Very soon she had received her stage name, Ogoya Nengo (which, in the Dholuo language, means "the most precious and expensive singer in the region"). Her 2014 debut album, Rang'ala (Honest Jon's Records), was recorded and produced by Sven Kacirek and Stefan Schneider (Kreidler, to rococo rot, Roedelius Schneider) at various spots around Rang'ala Village, Siaya County, Kenya. Now Ogoya Nengo And The Dodo Women's Group present their second album, On Mande, marking the first release on Schneider and Kacirek's TAL imprint. On Mande presents an even richer instrumentation than its predecessor. We hear nyatiti lute, asili flute, orutu strings, and box guitar, which are swiftly interwoven with fierce rhythms of ohangla drums, various types of shakers, and the scintillating vocal parts of Ogoya and the Dodo Women's Goup. Dodo is a popular traditional female singing style of the Luo communities in the Siaya region of western Kenya. Men are welcome to support the singers on drums, stringed instruments, and flutes. The music on this album may have its origin in the past, but it is truly a contemporary version of a traditional folk music that is unique in that it is a living culture -- a continuously developing art form -- and therefore has an important place in contemporary music. Sven Kacirek and Stefan Schneider were fascinated by this music from their first encounter with Ogoya Nengo in 2013, and decided to record her music without any overdubbing or additional effects. Both musicians, with their individual backgrounds in electronic music and jazz respectively, found access to dodo music through its strong sense of repetition and its complex rhythmic structures, from which they drew parallels to various forms of contemporary electronic music. The recording of On Mande took place in a simple clay building next to Ogoya's house. Most of the songs on the album are songs to honor family members and people of the community -- the best electrician, the most popular wrestler -- while others are played at weddings, funerals, or drinking parties.
