INTERPOL Everything Is Wrong (Solomun Remix) 12"
Solomun reveals his latest remix for popular NYC rock band Interpol. Taken from Interpol's latest album El Pintor, "Everything Is Wrong" has been given a dancefloor-ready makeover from Solomun. His remix preserves the gritty guitar line, adding a subtle but deep bassline and echoed percussion. The vocals are slightly tweaked, their electronic twang reminiscent of '80s bands. As Solomon's strings slowly grow throughout the track. Solomun's remix of "Everything Is Wrong" preserves the mood and melody of the original, yet is a clearly recognizable production of his own. Includes MP3-codes.

DJRUM Forgetting EP 12"
Djrum presents the Forgetting EP. First up is "Forgetting", taking inspiration from London's Grime scene, with carefully crafted vocal samples adorning a haunting and spacious underbelly of harp arpeggio. "Projection" is an absorbing piece of classical piano, a hypnotic cyclical motif lends a feeling of a heavy love affair. "Induction" is the understated powerhouse amongst the chill, a rolling 160bpm cascade of syncopated drums and percussion with a raw mid-range synth providing a grunt amidst the washes of celestial echoes. Concluding the EP is "Forgetting Coda", a fitting outro, departing as gracefully as it entered.

INTERSYSTEMS Number One Intersystems LP
Alga Marghen presents a reissue of Intersystems' Number One Intersystems (1967). Intersystems' works evoke the heightened awareness, intermittent psychosis, intellectual over-stimulation and giddy nihilism of an acid expedition. "Orange Juice and Velvet Underwear" may indeed be the most typically "Psychedelic" cut of Intersystems entire catalog. Its saturated crypto-Indian drone and bent acoustic guitar notes, are upstaged by Parker's lurid-sounding declamations and Mills-Cockell's fierce industrial clatter. From there, it all spirals further into a vortex of frayed cacophony and sober-yet-surreal orations. The sixteen-minute "Blackout Mix" is a perfect demonstration of just how tenuous their relationship was to even the furthest-out reaches of psychedelia in spite of their own pronounced use of related terminology. All curdled puddles of synth noise and caustic electronic howls, Parker's fragmentary deadpan bark both penetrates, and is enveloped by, the sticky sonic tapestry. He unfurls a series of disparate images, more-than-flirting with the mundane horror enumerated later (and more explicitly) by the likes of Throbbing Gristle. "Vox 3/13/67" is Number One Intersystems' second longest and arguably most varied piece. John's contributions span dimly elegiac textures, evoking distant chimes and striated choral voices. Parker delivers his writing as staunchly as ever, yet hacks certain words into syllabic mincemeat that spills violently and incoherently into the middles of sentences. It's by no means less anxious than other pieces on the album, but its tension is achieved through an eerily pronounced sense of breath and movement rather more aggressive means. Where elsewhere Number One Intersystems seems to forecast post-punk excursions into avant-noise antagonism, here there's more indication of Mills-Cockell's training and more canonical influences in its careful phrase-shaping. Featured throughout the album was a homespun instrument devised by John, dubbed "The Coffin", which was also employed live in their "presentations". Mills-Cockell recalls: "It was a 6 foot long box line with purple satin, housing a long plank strung with many parallel lengths of piano wire held in place with tuning pegs which were adjustable with a wrench we kept on board for the purpose. There were contact mikes which were switchable, just like on a Telecaster except that the switches could permit not only selection of different harmonic spectra when the instrument sounded, but of a variety of loudspeakers in various locations in a performance space." Re-mastered by John Mills-Cockell. Mastered for cutting by Giuseppe Ielasi. Edition of 300. Presented in the original Allied Records sleeve.

INTERSYSTEMS Peachy LP
Alga Marghen presents a reissue of Intersystems' Peachy (1967). The sound work of Intersystems cannibalized stray bits of McLuhanism, psychedelia, Cagean experimentalism, and even the modernist gestural strains of nascent electronic music, yet it was all couched within a very particular DIY ethos. Peachy pushes the meticulousness of Number One Intersystems (NMN 093-1LP) even further and, as such, represents a more balanced amalgam of Intersystems' various disparate stylistic and emotional elements. The truncated opening cut "Experienced Not Watched" is deceptive, beginning with lush, tuneful organ swells that almost border on the ecclesiastical and washed-out metallic pulsations. Yet, the track comes to an abrupt end. What follows is thinner and more gestural, imbued with both poise and awkward buoyancy, owing more to musique concrète than anything on Number One Intersystems. Each sound is framed within ample negative space, inviting listeners to savor each moment, yet its dynamism, and boisterousness, mischievous character steer it well away from being too precious. This impression is reinforced by the decidedly rugged and opaque timbre of much of the sonic activity. Peachy's balance can also be attributed to its consistent flow. The album may superficially be divided into discrete tracks yet the pieces follow one another seamlessly, conveying a single arc, with many continuities and recurring motives. Many of these motives are just mere pithy jolts or shudders of white noise that dart in and out of the aural scenery. In "So They Took The Guns", it matches the gestural profile of the opening cut - it's suddenly lopped off, shifting decisively back toward a slice of Parker's grim narrative, planted squarely in the foreground amidst various percolating abstract chatter. Just as the musical textures have a more unified logic, Parker's texts are also more integrated into the total picture, both aurally and thematically. Despite its sharp veerings into death and violence, the abrupt leaps have a more absurd timbre, than one of abjection and morbidity. And the sudden shifts, of course, are complemented well by the restless intensity of Mills-Cockell's contributions. Parker's voice is subject to a wider spectrum of electronic treatments than before. They're also situated in various places, both spatially and within the mix. Re-mastered by John Mills-Cockell. Mastered for cutting by Giuseppe Ielasi. Edition of 300.

INTERSYSTEMS Free Psychedelic Poster Inside LP
Alga Marghen presents a reissue of Intersystems' Free Psychedelic Poster Inside (1968). Intersystems occupied a difficult-to-reach critical nook between the many tropes that had established to frame the various artistic trends of 1960s. Announcing itself with a quivering beam of fluorescent sound, the beginning of Intersystems' Free Psychedelic Poster Inside feels as though it's slowly piercing right through your frontal lobe. Blake Parker's poetry is a dark glimpse into mundane domesticity and the suburbs. One can't help but sense that they're being brainwashed: the slow metamorphosis of sound is juxtaposed against Parker's even-tempered yet electronically-tampered-with speech. There are occasional hints at the twitchy energy of Peachy (NMN 093-2LP), but everything is braced by a spine of lean, cool tones, making Free Psychedelic Poster Inside a far more stark outing than either of its predecessors. Yet the sense of impending danger and general volatility found in the rest of the catalogue is still present - if not amplified. In contrast to Peachy, the shapes the music cuts are smooth rather than jagged, but one is never sure just when Parker's strangely uninflected voice will emerge from the blinding aggregates of pure color. While these clusters of glowing sustain assert an aggressive mesmerism, they serve as a primer for the ears, ominously readying them for virtually anything to happen. When something does, there's often a sense mild alarm on the listener's part even when said change comes in the form of a reprieve from the relentless swarms of high frequency - cascades of synthetic giggles, sliding slow elastic melodies, vigorous strobing modulations and bubbling passages of electronic fizz. Musician and insatiable collector Julian Cope, on his exhaustive online chronicle of all things rare and psychedelic, "Head Heritage" calls Intersystems third LP "one of the densest, most oblique collections of sound ever". Re-mastered by John Mills-Cockell. Mastered for cutting by Giuseppe Ielasi. Comes with original LP graphics as well as a new insert. Edition of 300.

AIRAKSINEN, PEKKA Buddhas of Golden Light LP
2016 repress. Reissue of legendary underground release Buddhas of Golden Light by Pekka Airaksinen, Nurse-With-Wound-listed founding member of legendary Finnish improv group The Sperm. Buddhas of Golden Light is a highly sought-after crate-digger's classic, originally self-released in 1984. Airaksinen originally recorded the album to tape, using an 808 and DX7, with improvised saxophone taken from an epic week-long solo session and Antero Helander featured on one track. Buddhas of Golden Light is a true underground record that sounds like very little else ever made before or since. Simultaneously alarming and disarming, Airaksinen's work co-opts the sound of the 808 and manipulates the DX7 for a cosmic spiritual jam, Sun Ra style. Airaksinen has been actively making music since the 1960s. Buddhas of Golden Light is from a series of albums he began making in the 1980s, each of which is dedicated to one of the thousand Buddhas and many of which were self-released. At the time of this reissue, he is about a hundred Buddhas deep. Airaksinen is mainly known for his role in the controversial Finnish underground group The Sperm, formed in 1967. The collective's recordings resembled the noise and industrial music of the '70s and '80s, with a pro-drug, pro-sexual revolution rhetoric and a Dadaist sense of humor, influenced by American free jazz, underground rock, and anarchism. After The Sperm disbanded in 1970, Airaksinen continued making experimental music in his own studio. His music is characterized by out-of-sync rhythms, intense dynamics, and feverish visions. His approach is consciously unpolished, spontaneous, and improvised, resulting in a cosmic electro-jazz sound fusing free jazz and the 808. In the '90s he began to incorporate techno influences, filtered through his Buddhist philosophy, and he is still making music at the time of this reissue.

LES RALLIZES DENUDES France Demo Tapes LP
Bamboo presents the first vinyl release of France Demo Tapes. "This just might be the single greatest side of OTT psych/noise guitar oblivion ever put to disc from the most legendary Japanese underground group of all time, Les Rallizes Denudes: the mysteriously-named France Demo Tapes have previously only circulated on wildly dubious CD-R burns, often with contradictory and conflicting track listings/material but the session (whether it was actually recorded in France or not) is consistently dated as being from some time in the late '80s. This gloriously out-of-nowhere release finally delivers on the hype surrounding this much whispered-about session, two massively deformed versions of their classics "Night Of The Assassins" and "The Last One". You have heard nothing" like this and when Mizutani is on this kind of form it's hard to believe that any other rock music exists outside of this singular, blasted universe. If you buy one electric guitar album this lifetime..." -- David Keenan. 180 gram, colored vinyl. Includes detailed liner notes. Edition of 1000.

Re-release of 2010 album from the Australian guitarist, John Butler and his bandmates. April Uprising is John's most focused, diverse and accessible album to date, showcasing innovative sounds from the trippy steel drum detail on "Take Me" to the roaring radio chorus of "To Look Like You"; the tender ache of "Steal It" and "Fool For You" to the rustic folk of "Ragged Mile" and the hysterical Rock attack of "C'mon Now", to the single, a rock disco classic "Close To You" where John lets rip with the electric telecaster. KALMA, ARIEL Interfrequence LP
After the 1978 exploits of Osmose, Ariel Kalma returned to the studio in 1980 to create the space-ambient library record Interfrequence, reissued here for the first time. In a continuation of Kalma's personal research into the combination of electronic machines with natural sounds and acoustic instrumentation, the French musician plays the master of ceremonies with his synths, but he diverges from the symphonic, galactic suites composed by other standard-bearers like Richard Pinhas and Klaus Schulze. One finds 18 short sound-pictures (a few of them in collaboration with M. Saclays) that emanate an unparalleled variety of ideas and ethno-cultural influences. Kalma's distinctive compositional style always returns in a crescendo of ecstatic emotions reflecting on the hidden and secret aspects of the micro- and macro-cosmos. If in Osmose the sampling from the mother Gaia was more explicit, here nature is investigated not only in terms of pure tones, but also in the dynamics of flows and movements dictated by the frequency of Moogs and organs. Complete with embellishments of hyper-space flutes, trumpets, and clarinets, Interfrequence is yet another chapter in Kalma's personal saga of sound imagery discovery.

AF URSIN Aura Legato CD
Blackest Ever Black presents the first CD edition of Af Ursin's 2005 masterpiece Aura Legato. Af Ursin is the alter ego of Finnish autodidact composer/improviser Timo van Luijk. His work is rooted in the use of acoustic instruments (wind, percussion, strings), but his special sensitivity to the timbral qualities of each instrument, and his deft blurring of them, results in a sound-world that is mysterious, amorphous and hallucinatory, full of suggestive shadows, creaks and whispers. Van Luijk's process begins always with pure improvisation: music played in an intuitive, sensual way, without the employment of conscious technique. He performs and overdubs each instrumental component himself, and out of this process micro-structures and loose arrangements emerge: the piece becomes an improvised composition. Aura Legato is one of van Luijk's darker and more acutely psychedelic offerings: a work of profound interiority, but one that also conjures images of old Europe and fin-de-siècle decadence - dabblings in Thelema, the fog of the opium-den - and has earned comparisons to Third Ear Band, Nurse With Wound, Mirror and HNAS.

RAIME Tooth 2LP
Double LP version. Raime presents their second album, Tooth. The widescreen melancholia of their 2012 debut, Quarter Turns Over A Living Line, gives way to an urgent and focused futurism, in the shape of eight fiercely up-tempo, minimal, meticulously crafted electro-acoustic rhythm tracks. The DNA of dub-techno, garage/grime and post-hardcore rock music spliced into sleek and predatory new forms. No let-up, no hesitation. Needlepoint guitar, deftly junglist drum programming, brooding synths and lethal sub-bass drive the engine. The production is immaculate, high definition. No hiss, no obscuring drones or extraneous noise: the music of Tooth is wide-open and exposed. The seeds of its supple dancehall biomechanics can be found in the self-titled 2013 EP by Raime side-project Moin, an ahead-of-its-time synthesis of art-rock and sound-system sensibilities, but Tooth pushes the template further, binding the disparate elements together so tightly that they become indistinguishable from one another. If Quarter Turns was an album that confronted total loss and self-destruction, even longed for it, then Tooth is the sound of resistance and counter-attack: cunning, quick, resolute; calling upon stealth as much as brute-force. At a time when so many pay lip service to experimentation without ever fully committing themselves or their work to it, Raime return from three years of deep, dedicated studio research with a bold and original new music: staunch, rude, and way out in front.

HIGH, MARTHA Singing For The Good Times LP
LP version. Most people don't know that, hidden on James Brown's milestone anthem "Cold Sweat," and in all of James Brown's productions, is one of the best-kept secrets in soul music: Mrs. Martha High. She is the one who sings that crazy soprano note at the very beginning of the song and she is the one who sang behind James Brown for about 35 years. She was with Brown and the JB's in Boston on the infamous night after the Martin Luther King assassination, she flew with him in the dangerous Vietnam skies to entertain the US soldiers, and was also in Zaire celebrating the "Rumble in the Jungle" between Ali and Foreman. Martha was truly a friend, confidant, and supporter of the godfather of soul. Maybe she was just too young and shy to jump over the other soul divas to ask for a solo record. In 2016, things are different. Mrs. Martha High is the hardest working woman in show business. She is still touring worldwide as a lead singer of Maceo Parker's band, and, finally, has recorded the album she always wanted to make. Eleven killer original tunes produced and arranged by Luca Sapio, the Italian soul ambassador, in true analog sound. The tunes evoke the best productions of the golden era of Southern soul as well as the sonic landscapes of the Italian soundtracks of the '60s. This record is made of truth, soul, love, and pain -- a full spectrum of emotions that only Marth High could deliver to your ears. This is not a revival, this is not retro, this is now.

GROSSKOPF, HARALD Synthesist LP
Repressed; LP version. "Harald Grosskopf was in his early twenties when LSD 'blew [his] reality away,' as he recalls. Born in Hildesheim in 1949, he had previously drummed in fairly conventional rock bands, most recently for Wallenstein. Their label-boss Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser was fond of facilitating jam sessions for musicians on his Ohr und Pilz label, often supplying his 'cosmic couriers' with LSD (unbeknown to them, on occasion). In one such session, the drug inspired something of an epiphany in Grosskopf: 'There I was playing the drums when, in the midst of my euphoria, I realized that I had been imitating other drummers. Suddenly a voice spoke to me: stop trying to sound like Billy Cobham or Ginger Baker. From that moment on I felt liberated, free to drum without having to shine in a particular role.' Having discovered his own musical identity, Harald Grosskopf understood that a standard rock combo was not the ideal conduit through which to express it. Grosskopf: 'I was completely in thrall to electronic music and the total freedom that it offered. This was the music I wanted to create. I knew it would be a success, the energy levels were so high.' Grosskopf consequently left Wallenstein. 'I fell into a hole at first, wondering what I was going to do. So I sold my prized drum kit and used the money to buy a guitar, amp and echo device.' A few days later, the doorbell rang. It was Manuel Göttsching, on his way back to Berlin from a tour of France. They knew each other from Berlin's electronic scene and recording sessions for the likes of Ash Ra Tempel. Göttsching invited Grosskopf to sign up for his new project Ashra and the rest is history: Ashra (Grosskopf, Gottsching, Lutz Ulbrich alias Luul) released a series of successful albums in the years that followed. It was not until the summer of 1979, however, that he finally felt ready to release a solo album. Synthesist comprises eight instrumentals, recorded largely by Grosskopf on his own. His melodies, carried along by synthesizers and drums, were reminiscent of works by Berlin electronic friends such as Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream, as well as those 'cosmic' sessions of the early 1970s -- yet each melody retains a unique timbre. Synthesist is thus regarded as a classic by electronic music enthusiasts all over the world, evoking a thrilling musical era of the past with equal capacity to excite today." --Christoph Dallach

GANIMIAN & HIS ORIENTAL MUSIC Come With Me To The Casbah LP
Originally released in 1959. Oft overlooked for over half a century while misfiled amongst exploit belly-dance records and holidaymaker souvenirs, this one-off twelve track album is the only existing full-length record by the best-kept mutant musical secret of the Armenian American diaspora, oud pop maestro Charles "Chick" Ganimian. One of the earliest examples of any kind of recorded fusion between rhythm heavy pop music and traditional Turkish music, Ganimian's developments in New York City - with his sadly unrecorded turk-jerk combo The Nor-Ikes (New Dawn) combo - ran almost simultaneously alongside the rising Anadolou pop scene in Turkey, resulting in his short lived powerhouse of Kif proto-rock under the changing names of Ganim's Asia Minors, Ganimian & His Orientals and Ganimian & His Oriental Music Orchestra. Combining a line-up of mostly unknown musicians from his local community (where he was worked as a butcher), Ganimian, in a short unison with ATCO records, was fortunate enough to accommodate jazz guitarist Al Schactman as part of his studio personnel (launching the career of this Nina Simone regular) as well as French born Armenian folk singer Onnik Dinkjian and reid player Steve Bogoshian (both from the band The House Of The Seven Uncles) as well as the esteemed Turkish raised kanun player Ahmet Yatman. As one of the very few early American recorded authentic Middle Eastern fusion record Come With Me To The Casbah has piqued a refined interest in a new generation of progressive world music collector resulting in a distinct drought in original Ganimian pressings on the collectors' market. This LP includes all of Ganimian's recordings including the rare singles for ATCO and East West which sit awkwardly next to bizarre and unique takes on popular American standards enhancing the exciting freak factor of this record which simply could not be made by today's stifling self-aware anti-standards. Come With Me To The Casbah is the music of this lost enigma of early world music, Eastern fusion and a missing kink in the fabric of New York pop music history captured before his short stint as an exotic Herbie Mann sideman which proceeded his migration into obscurity and his well-imparted tragic struggle with alcohol dependency depriving pop culture of a forward thinking pioneer who paved the way for the more credible exponents of the cross-continental Indo fusion enigma such as John Berberian and hard rock efforts of The Devils Anvil.

MOLINO, MARIO Inside LP
Cinedelic Records presents a reissue of Mario Molino's original soundtrack for Inside (1975). Mario Molino, one of the few composers-guitarists in the fascinating world of library music, created this original soundtrack for a documentary movie produced by RAI, the Italian national TV, of sci-fi environments by blending fuzz, distorted and psychedelic sounds with Hammond organ, clavinet and electronic effects played by himself to merge into symphonic epochal moments. Of the eight tracks that make up the album, many have cosmic krautrock moments. Inside was recorded in 1975 in the then renowned studios Fonit Cetra of Rome. "Tema Spazio" introduces us to the ethereal galaxy before we get into the mysterious stars of "Le Pleiadi" where Molino's prog-rock begins to take shape with fuzz guitar, drum-breaks, deep bass and an orchestra to strengthen the melody with an approach similar to Luis Bacalov for New Trolls (Concerto Grosso) and Rovescio della Medaglia (Contamination), but with spatial inspiration. "Finale Titoli" lends symphonic rock to blues moments; the eight minutes of "Tempesta" are definitely one of the most cosmic tunes where Molino, as well as the guitar, experiences a crescendo of electro-analog effects. "Tecnologia Moderna IIa Parte" is an obsessive psychedelic guitar and drums loop that recalls the Teutonic Can. Comes in a thick cover. Includes a digital download code. Edition of 500.

CHATAM, SHARON "MHATI" Fantasy LP
Cinedelic Records presents a reissue of Fantasy (1973) by Sharon "Mhati" Chatam. Originally released in 1973 on RCA, this obscure library music title was produced by Maestro Gian Franco Reverberi using the pseudonym of Ninety as previously done before for other records like Psycheground Group Library on Lupus and the two Underground Set releases. The style is different from the aforementioned albums and is closest to the style of murky erotic cult soundtracks created for Renato Polselli as "Fire Shadows In The Sunset" features congas, groovy piano, spacey synthesizers and vocals. It contains many other amazing tracks like "I've Got An Idea" which includes insane fat drums, hypnotic bass, trippy piano and beautiful phased flutes, or the jazz groove "Closed In a Drugstore", the up-tempo funk "You're So Vain" (Carly Simon), the hip-hop drum on the cover versions of "Daniel" (Elton John, Bernie Taupin), "Sylvia's Mother" (Shel Shilverstein) and "Vincent" (Don McLean), and the slow psychedelic cinematic lounge of "Quel Che Non Saprei Dirti Mai A Parole". CIPRIANI, STELVIO Rhythmical Movement LP
Cinedelic Records presents a reissue of Rhythmical Movement (1980) from Stelvio Cipriani. Maestro Cipriani is one of the most known and appreciated composers of Italian soundtracks, whose unmistakable style makes it one of the most appreciated and collected. Rhythmical Movement came out only as a promo-library LP for CAM records in 1980 and is therefore a very rare album pressed in limited quantity. But what impresses most is the high level content and, as explicitly expressed in the title, no rhythm decreases. After a jazz intro depart sequentially tunes full of funk, soul, samba and disco, with references also to the classic tradition of Italian poliziotteschi films for which Cipriani is the absolute master. Alternating on a drum and congas base are wah-wah guitar, but also often distorted as in fierce riffs of "Storm In A Teacup" and "Do Not Tamper With My Things", piano-electric and horns. Two tracks, "What Can I Do" and "Living And Loving" were composed with Michael Fraser, the famous UK musician and producer very active in Italy since the early '70s. Also of note are the curious "Percussion Gun" and "Chicago U.S.A." built on the popular bassline of "In-a-Gadda-da-Vida" by Iron Butterfly. An unmissable record to listen and dance to. Comes in a wonderful minimal mirror-cover. Includes a digital download code. Edition of 500.

PRIMA MATERIA Prima Materia 2LP BOX
Limited repress. This deluxe double-LP box set commemorates the tenth anniversary of Die Schactel's 2005 CD reissue of Prima Materia's La Coda della Tigre/Tail of the Tiger, and marks the first vinyl edition of the album since its original 1977 release. La Coda della Tigre/Tail of the Tiger is a totally immersive listening experience and a true testament to the power and range of the human voice in all its harmonic splendor. Originally issued in 1977 by the Italian Ananda label, run by Prima Materia founder Roberto Laneri with Alvin Curran and Giacinto Scelsi, La Coda Della Tigre/Tail of the Tiger is a long, dense, trance-inducing drone of sustained notes, rich with overtones and harmonic embellishments and coming from a space so vast and unexplored that it evokes a non-human, almost ethereal nature. Every molecule of that sound was produced using only the most original and archaic of instruments, the human voice. The musicians of Prima Materia -- founded by Laneri in San Diego in 1973 -- individually researched and developed unusual vocal techniques (originally used in Tantric rituals in North India, Mongolia, and Tibet) based on the use of overtones coupled with a special state of inner concentration, which was the essential condition for both the emission and control of long, sustained, and complex vocal sounds. Their capacity to sustain a note for what seems an eternity and to continue to provide endless variations generates a continuous and sustained drone of sound in which the overtones are clearly perceived. La Coda della Tigre/Tail of the Tiger disappeared soon after its original release, acquiring an almost legendary status among collectors and lovers of experimental music in the decades since. Die Schachtel recovered the original tapes and, in 2005, released the limited CD The Tail of the Tiger, which went out of print itself in a few months. This box set includes the first vinyl reissue of La Coda della Tigre/Tail of the Tiger, plus an LP containing a stunning recording of a 1974 live performance in Cologne, Germany; both LPs are high-quality records pressed in Germany, and are presented in custom coated paper inner sleeves bearing original photos printed in silver ink. The set also includes a four-page explanatory booklet and a 16-page mandala booklet designed by Dinamomilano and inspired by the group's references and philosophy. Limited edition of 300.

MOGARD, ABUL Works 2LP
Ecstatic offer a deeply arresting and definitive collection of Works by erstwhile Serbian factory worker-turned-synthesist Abul Mogard; containing selections from two cassettes released in 2012 and 2013 on Steve Moore and Anthony Paterra's VCO Recordings, as well as a cassette only release on Ecstatic, never before available on vinyl. Abul Mogard's relatively unusual path to releasing music is well documented, but bears repeating here. Upon taking retirement from a job at a factory which he held for decades, Mogard craved the mechanical noise and complex harmonics of the industrial workplace, and found that the best way to fulfil that need was through electronic music - using a limited set-up of Farfisa organs, voices, samplers and a self-built modular system to realize a peaceful yet haunting, sweetly coruscating sound that resonates uncommonly with music from Leyland Kirby to Alessandro Cortini, or Fennesz and Tim Hecker. The nine tracks on Works are soused in an emotional richness that's hard to forget once experienced. Broad daubs of distorted bass and naturally glorious harmonic progressions paint panoramas of wide open, grey-scaled skies whilst equally conveying the intimate feel of a person with their nose to the machine, toiling for a sound or feeling that really means something to them, and by turns, us. The fact that Mogard hails from an area hardly well-known for its synth music, and that he's of an age where most people take up gardening or lawn bowls, rather than synth music, only helps to aid the enigma and magic surrounding this remarkable artist and his layered, emotional music. RIYL: Alessandro Cortini, The Caretaker, Fennesz, Tangerine Dream, Brain Eno, Tim Hecker.

VA Sky Girl 2LP
Sky Girl is a mysteriously unshakeable companion, a deeply melancholic and sentimental journey through folk-pop, new wave and art music micro presses that span 1961-1991. It's a DIY collection of different genres, from different countries across different decades, that are all bound by the same longing sentiment. A concept compilation! A seemingly disparate suite of selections of forgotten fables by more or less never-knowns, Sky Girl forms a beautifully coherent and utterly sublime whole deftly compiled by French collectors DJ Sundae and Julien Dechery. From Scott Seskind's adolescent musical road movie to Karen Marks' icy Oz-wave, the charming DIY storytelling of Italian-American go-getter Joe Tossini and the ethereal slow dance themes of Parisian artists Nini Raviolette and Hugo Weris, Sky Girl resonates on a wide spectrum historically, geographically and stylistically. It unites in a singular, longing, almost intangible ambience. If the names sound wholly unfamiliar that doesn't matter, the nature of the compositions swiftly nurtures an intimacy with these lonely, poignant, openhearted wanderers. Most were available in a very limited capacity at the time of their release, some were never really released at all - Gary Davenport declined to release "Sarra" after he split with the girl for whom the track is named - years later a friend convinced Davenport to allow him to put 100 copies online to sell and DJ Sundae was quick enough to snare one. Beyond their scarcity, these tracks are bound together by a certain raw beauty that's achievable when music is made and no one is listening. Sky Girl comprises of fifteen officially licensed songs, a two year international scavenger hunt through long-folded home label operations, the depths of internet forums and traceless acetates. Both compilers are well trained record sleuths - DJ Sundae's labels Hollie and Idle Press have reissued Arthur Russell affiliate Nirosta Steel and DIY relic Pitch, while Julien Dechery previously compiled Fire Star, a retrospective on Tamil film composer Ilaiyaraaja, for Bombay Connection. Released by popular NTS show "Noise In My Head" offshoot Efficient Space, Sky Girl is enriched with artwork from Perks and Mini mutant Misha Hollenbach and appropriately elegant sleeve notes courtesy of Ivan Smagghe. Includes digital download. Also features: Linda Smith, Bruce Langhorne, The Seraphims, Some of My Best Friends Are Canadians, The Rising Storm, Warfield Spillers, Joyce Heath, Angel, Nora Guthrie and Once.

CLIPSE Lord Willin' 2LP
2016 repress. "The first act signed to The Neptunes' newly formed Star Trak label was a Virginia based duo known as the Clipse. The first single 'Grindin'' impacted the streets with its bare boned but infectious drum beat in the same way that 'Sucker MC's' did almost 20 years earlier. These brothers - Pusha T and Malice combined with The Neptunes groundbreaking production sent a clear message to the rap world ? 'we are not the same' (as rapped by Malice on his opening verse on 'Cot' Dam'). Clipse brings an authentic Virginia sound into the game and created a movement, with not only their darkly layered raps but The Neptunes as well. Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo were able to combine their cyberpunk production with just the right group to create a street masterpiece. Following in the footsteps of such rap criminologists as Kool G Rap, Nas, Jay-Z, and Mobb Deep, the Clipse offer the Virginia hustler's viewpoint with clever, hard-hitting lyrics that is sprinkled throughout the entire album."

SONIC YOUTH Spinhead Sessions CD
"The slow-burn sounds of Sonic Youth's 1986 rehearsals to score Ken Friedman's spooky highway film Made In USA are yet another mile marker in the band's long and varied existence, now being issued as Spinhead Sessions (named for the North Hollywood studio used by SST label acts like Black Flag and Painted Willie). These jams were later built upon for a full-on (and quite different) soundtrack production, but the rough sketches here find the band taking time with truly new and introspective sound worlds. It was basically a brand new way of working for Sonic Youth, albeit a challenging one, under the auspices of major Hollywood film production overlords, routing their way into the world of soundtrack scoring. And it all comes at a key time and place. This newly born Spinhead Sessions release once again defines Sonic Youth in a raw and engaging state of discovery at a terrific time. Is it a missing link between the complex, crafted cavernosity of EVOL and the frayed-electric powerline sizzle of Sister? Yes and no. It's an entirely unique animal, a meditative album where you can soak in the template of tapping overtones, sedate explorations of new chords, even sounding at times like AMM trying to play the VU's Sweet Sister Ray bootleg or something similar. It's trademark Sonic Youth at the core, and in an unfettered, dreamy state and time, there and gone like smoke."

SKULL SNAPS Skull Snaps (Colored Vinyl) LP
Red-colored vinyl version, gatefold sleeve. "Skull Snaps is a legendary funk album that has long been shrouded in obscurity. The band recorded their self-titled debut and a handful of singles in 1973, and then vanished without a trace. In recent years, their vinyl has become ubiquitously sampled and highly collectible. The monstrous break that opens up their classic cut, 'It's A New Day,' furnished the beat for countless hip-hop hits of the mid-'90s (along with James Brown's 'Funky Drummer' and Sly & the Family Stone's 'Sing A Simple Song,' 'It's A New Day' contains the most sampled break in music history). More than just a treasure trove for the hip-hop community, though, Skull Snaps stands as a classic in pure funk and soul. The band's irresistible sound embraces the black vocal group sound of early '70s Temptations, Chi-Lites, and Dramatics, cut with an unmistakable originality. Every song is blessed with a gospel-soaked call and response dynamic that contrasts gritty lead vocals with the band's perfect harmonies."

BJORKE, KASPER Fountain Of Youth LP
Despite having deep roots within the club scene as an acclaimed producer, remixer and busy DJ, Kasper Bjørke in past years, has focused on song oriented compositions for his own albums, suitable for home listening rather than the dance floor. But for Fountain Of Youth, Kasper turns his own full attention to the business of making people move. Fountain of Youth is a mini-LP drawing on Kasper's 15 years immersed in club culture and inspired by some of the genres he plays in his own DJ sets around the world: house, classic electro, post-disco and techno. It's exceptionally executed, a masterclass in exquisite sound and production - an innate knowledge of dance floor dynamics. "Cloud 9" is the haunting and melancholic 808 breakbeat infused lead single (which features Urdur on the vocal version, known from the Icelandic collective GusGus) - an intoxicating '90s vocal house music tribute, that will surely provide both euphoric moments on the club floors and warm the hearts of radio audiences alike. "Cloud 9" is released accompanied by luminary remixes from Gerd Janson, Marvin & Guy and Weval. "Klint" is a throbbing and fun jam that conjures up memories of post-disco and itchy Italo. "Rays" draws on a dreamy, descending synth theme, 808 patterns and a thick, punchy low end. "Zenith (feat. Null & Void)" with its distinct, distorted and glitchy modular synth anthem, is a perfect after-burner for the later hours. "Köln" has Kasper showing his deep love for the German techno capital, with a trippy percussive groove that builds into a futuristic ride topped by a simple, synthetic string theme. "Palindromos" pushes into the dream zone driven by filtered drum loops, giving the whole track a sense of enormous space and that certain UK feeling. "Dawn", works as an outro on the mini-LP - a beat-less, ambient saxophone infused affair. The cover art is by Danish rising artist Lotte Rose Kjaer Skau, represented by IMT Gallery in London. The captivating computer visualized art piece is called "Lidenskab" which translates into "Passion".

It features just two tracks, a tribute to Jaco Pastorius from Davis's 1989 Amandla album and the title-track from 1986's Tutu. It's presented here in digitally remastered sound with background notes and images.

TAZARTES, GHEDALIA 5 Rimbaud 1 Verlaine 10"
Holiday Records presents the vinyl reissue of Ghedalia Tazartes' 5 Rimbaud 1 Verlaine (2006). This is a great tribute to the poetry of Rimbaud and Verlaine made by a favorite French sorcerer, who exceptionally abandoned his typical imaginary language to reinterpret six small poems in his own way, jumping from one musical genre to the other and happily letting them crunch together in a childish, enthusiastic play. Recorded in Paris in his flat around the same time he recorded the wonderful Hystérie Off Music (2007) (HOL 074LP, 2014) and previously available in an almost unnoticed mini CD edition published by the French label Jardin au Fou. LORA-TOTINO, ARRIGO Trio Prosodico LP
Holiday Records presents a reissue of Trio Prosodico (1978) by Arrigo Lora-Totino. Arrigo Lora-Totino is considered one of the fathers of Italian sound poetry. He's mostly known for having curated the anthology Futura: Poesia Sonora (1978), where he collected the voices of the most interesting sound poets of the twentieth century, but also for being a key figure in the Italian experimental poetry. Active since the late sixties, he gave more than 200 performances of "Gymnastic Poetry" and "Liquid Poetry" (using the Idromegaphone, a tool invented on purpose to let the voice sound through water) and a series of mimic declamations of avant-garde texts, from futurism to dadaism, Russian 'zaum, expressionism, surrealism, lettrisme and concretism. This sound poem in six movements - performed as a vocal trio together with Sergio Cena and Laura Santiano - was recorded in 1976 in Torino at Studio di Informazione Estetica (S.I.E.) and is considered by the author himself one of his most important works. First volume in a series of sound poetry releases on Holiday Records coordinated by Luca Garino. Comes in a deluxe edition with the complete reproduction of the handwritten original scores. GEERKEN, HARTMUT Orpheus LP
Holiday Records presents Orpheus by Hartmut Geerken. Fantastic sound poetry piece by Hartmut Geerken restringing the "Sun Harp", the Ukranian bandura that Sun Ra gave him in 1971 when he visited Egypt for the first time. The acoustics of his manual workings emerge without any esthetic intention: the bandura's voluminous resonating body forms the reverb of the room. Each manual action and each contact of the tuning key with the wooden body is "reverbed". The instrument creates its audio space. A mythic dream play is evoked: the myth's space of reverb. An ear ready to absorb, hears the labor pains of voice and string ahead of language and music. A human voice in search for language and thus for communication. A string instrument in search for sound and thus for music. Based on this phonemic pre-space, words do rise only sporadically. Through certain techniques of vocal chords the phonemes move close to the meditative Indian Dhrupad-singing, as well as to lunacy and disturbance. Animal languages, signals, shepherds' calls, silvered drum-language, ham-boning, calls, litany, subconscious voicings, sirens: the search for Eurydike and the search for the origin of letter and syllable, out of the breath. Besides one single "superimposition" no further mounting, no computer-generated sounds, no digital gimmicks, no remix or art mix do exist in this live-recorded dream play. Edition of 200.

POP & DAVID BOWIE, IGGY Mantra Studios Broadcast 1977 CD
"By 1976, proto-punk pioneer Iggy Pop had hit a major rut. Drug problems had led to the collapse of The Stooges, the band with whom he made his name, and he had checked himself into UCLA's neuropsychiatric institute in an effort to get clean. David Bowie, seeing his friend and collaborator in desperate need of support and guidance, was one of Iggy's few visitors. Bowie would later invite Pop to accompany him as his companion on the Station To Station tour, the first time Iggy had witnessed an outing of such scale and magnitude. Impressed by the success of the tour and with Bowie's work ethic, the pair relocated to West Berlin in order to wean themselves off their respective addictions and take full advantage of the burgeoning music scene there. While Bowie began work on his now-legendary 'Berlin trilogy,' Iggy signed to Bowie's long term label, RCA, in 1977. With a new record deal in place, alongside the production skills, musicianship and songwriting assistance of David, Iggy was able to record and release what would become his two most acclaimed albums. In March '77 came art-pop masterpiece The Idiot, which produced the singles 'Nightclubbing' and 'China Girl.' Although certain purists would criticize the record for being a David Bowie album in disguise, The Idiot was a resounding success both critically and musically, becoming highly influential on the early industrial and post-punk scenes. On 29th August the same year Lust for Life appeared, a more typical affair for Pop, but ultimately his most successful album to date which spawned one of his signature tunes, 'The Passenger.' The two albums, in addition to the world tour Iggy undertook with Bowie as sideman the same year, would ultimately revitalize the waning performer's career, unleashing an energized Iggy Pop onto the music scene by the end of the decade."

IKIN, KANE Basalt Crush 12"
"Whoompf. Another knockout record from Latency. Five grippingly widescreen, warmly immersive, dubwise soundscapes - propulsively roiling, droning and ticking, smudging the limits of their own coherence. 'I'd been thinking a lot about this idea of skewed club tracks that constantly shift in and out of time like they're on the precipice of dissolving or collapse,' says the producer, from Melbourne. 'Straining against whatever holds them together but maintaining that tension. Tarkovsky calls it 'space frozen in a dynamic equilibrium'. 'I'd also been listening to a lot of Steve Reich, Monoton and Arthur Russell, particularly how their work can induce this meditative trance-like state through drifting repetition in rhythm and melody.' Another lovely, inkily silk-screened cover, too - freshly evacuated, awed, anxious - like a still from Force Majeure."

LOUDER THAN LOVE Louder Than Love - The Grande Ballroom Story DVD
"While the West Coast was groovin' to the sounds of the 'Summer of Love' in 1967, Detroit was pumping out a hard-driving, gritty and raw sound that was 'Louder Than Love.' The Grande Ballroom stood as the epicenter of the Detroit rock music scene that spawned in the late '60s. Serving as the starting point for bands such as MC5, Iggy & The Stooges, Ted Nugent & The Amboy Dukes and more, the Grande not only influenced local Detroit musicians but inspired bands from all over the U.S. and Great Britain. Legendary acts like Led Zeppelin, Cream, B.B. King, Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd and the Who soon began to grace the stage at the Grande on a regular basis. This story is about the hallowed halls that started it all, told by the artists who helped create its epic stature."

BLACK DISCO Night Express LP
"Insurgently crossing Philly Soul, Cape Jazz and bump jive in 1976, the same year as the Soweto Uprising; poignantly shot through with Timmy Thomas' 'Why Can't We Live Together.' 'It was so important for us to play a kind of crossover then, to weave in touches of Motown, Philadelphia soul and Teddy Pendergrass that the coloured community appreciated, and Basil's Cape Town sound, and Sipho's sound that was legendary in the black community, and make music that people could all enjoy together? The regime divided us: people classified coloured had identity documents; black people had the dompas. We didn't accept that separation. Sipho, although he was born in KZN, could play any feel. Sometime he'd joke, Does my bass line feel coloured enough?' Another landmark Matsuli. The title track is killer."

WOOD & WOODLANDS, ROBERT Live at Lons Le Saulnier, 1974 LP
2015 release. Monster Melodies present Live at Lons Le Saulnier, 1974 from Robert Wood & Woodlands. An exceptional recording, dating from September 1974, featuring a band that has never released an album up to now. Robert Wood, an English vibraphonist, guitarist and singer, is a veteran of the jazz scene, free jazz, jazz and experimental rock having played with Alan Silva, Don Cherry, Gong, Marc Bolan, Sam Gopal, Kent Carter, Bernard Vitet, Lard Free, Christian Vander, Fred Frith and Yannick Top. He spent the majority of his career in France. Woodlands was formed in 1973 with Olivier Didier (Herbe Rouge) on drums and Simon Wheatley on electric bass. Patrick Fontaine (Ame Son and Bananamoon Band) replaced Simon Wheatley a few months later and it is this second line-up that is featured on this album. In 1974, Robert Wood & Woodlands played more than forty concerts in France. The group's music is bursting with energy. Robert Wood plays his Deagan Electravibe and Premier Vibraphone in a manner which is both extremely personal and relentlessly perfectionist, producing a unique sound enveloped by the bass and the drums. Using a technique which includes as Robert himself explains: "My own choice of mallets, sticks, different types of pieces of wood, finger cymbals, the palms of my hands, the soft tips of my fingers and the harder attack of my finger nails. Each of these different types of attack engendered their own characteristic sound parameters which could naturally be played in a myriad of intermingling sound colors. I have always strived to open the range and flexibility of expression of the vibraphone as an instrument complete in itself and not simply an extension of the percussion family. I added a Cry Baby wah-wah from the '60s and a legendary amp, the Mike Matthews "Freedom Amp". The mutational frequencies of the wah to go even further into my 'improvisational madness' as certain people called it. On my Premier Vibraphone, I struck the key(s) at basically five different positions on each key, with a further four intermediate positions on each key which I would also strike for modelling the inherent harmonics. Applied to the Deagan Electravibe this technique literally exploded the conceived limitations of the vibraphone, and also created new soundscapes for my vocals, shooting us off into a cosmic voyage of time, sound and rhythm." - Extracts from an interview by Ron Kane.

PAPATHANASSIOU, VANGELIS Amore LP
2015 release. Monster Melodies present the original soundtrack of Amore (1973), a film by Henry Chapier, composed and performed by Vangelis Papathanassiou. An unreleased recording dating from July 1973. Vangelis Papathanassiou was the composer of the group Aphrodite's Child, he composed the band's music and the songs of Demis Roussos. Later Vangelis became famous for the soundtrack of the film Chariots of Fire (1981). In 1974, Henry Chapier after several atypical movie, An American Summer (1968), Sex-Power (1970) and Hi, Jerusalem (1972), directed the fiction film Amore. Here is an extract from the Divan d'Henry Chapier interview with Papathanassiou directed by Jean Claude Longin 2011: "This is happening in a city constantly threatened with death. At the time, I thought, there were a lot of documentaries and that I would do it differently. I imagined Venice in the guise of a heroine, a very beautiful woman, Sonia Petrovna, a girl of the Venetian aristocracy ailing, representing a page of history that has passed. But the fact remains that in the frame, in the subject, there was a little journalistic approach. Also because one of the actors, Daniel Quenaud, was presumed to be a reporter, sent to consider the merits of an architectural plan which would save Venice. So in the agreement, there is a slight journalist contamination. Otherwise there was also a love story... I think it's more of a fiction film than a documentary nonetheless." Chapier had this to say about going about the score: "The first time, it was at the Olympia, at the band's concert. I found the music to be trippy and wonderful, I, who above all, loved the Pink Floyd. I thought the Pink Floyd, I could never get them for my films. So I stormed in backstage at the Olympia, I said to Vangelis, 'Listen you are made to be an independent composer.' Things clicked between us instantly and so I asked if he wanted the script. He told me, 'no, we will see, me, I improvise from images.' This is a technique that is practiced today, but back then, it was unheard of. We did not have people like him, who recorded the sound on sixteen tracks, playing all the instruments themselves and who already had in mind how they would edit the soundtrack." Colored vinyl. Includes unpublished photos, the film poster and a postcard.

CHERRY, NAPOLEON Walk Alone LP
Repressed. The subject of Music From Memory's fifth compilation is the elusive and mysterious Philadelphian musician Napoleon Cherry (aka Cool Waters). Oddball funk biz! In the late '80s and early '90s Cherry privately released two LPs and an EP, which form the basis of this retrospective, alongside a previously unreleased cut, "When You Had the Chance," which was released as a 12" in 2015 by US label Peoples Potential Unlimited. Recorded with a very DIY aesthetic and a strong presence of gospel and RnB, Cherry's unique take on soul and funk music reflects a rawness that stands in contrast to the slick, over-produced soul of that era. With appearances by jazz musicians including the late celebrated saxophonist Byard Lancaster, who coincidentally also played with MFM's previous compilation subject Vito Ricci (MFM 005LP), Cherry's music seems to defy any clear categorization. From cocktail jazz funk to intergalactic synth workouts to melancholy bedroom soul, his use of synths and drum computers, though perhaps unknowingly, also seems to strongly echo elements of early house music.

LIBERATION Liberation LP
"Liberation is the latest evolution by David West, a dedicated underground dweller and traveler with his groups Rat Columns and Rank / Xerox who has also been spotted in Lace Curtain and Total Control. Familiar elements of West's songwriting creep out from the speakers this time around, albeit in a more adventurous and personal manner - swathed in analog and FM synths, pinned down by near-funk drum machines, and with a vision expanded into the past and future. In previous incarnations, West's alienated and fragile vocals have battled with jangling guitars and distortion, but Liberation sets free his woes and ruminations into space. Taking inspiration from the heyday of Mute Records and electronic dance music's early experiments with sampling, Liberation's debut LP is ten songs of the road, about the nameless ghosts on the highway, accidental lovers, the alienation of the stranger in a strange land, the unbearable weight of freedom. Esteemed engineer Mikey Young's (Total Control / Eddy Current Suppression Ring) production prowess makes for a distilled yet inviting loneliness."

PEACE, THE Black Power CD
Repressed. "Essential garage Zamrock/soul/funk: the first official reissue of the celebrated band's one and only album. "The musical style that became known as Zamrock came to embody the economic despair that followed the 1973-1974 oil crisis, which flung Zambia into recession and exacerbated a wide range of social tensions. Much of Zamrock also captured the controversy of wider politics in Africa and the world. Perhaps the finest example of this is Black Power by The Peace." - The Guardian. The Boyfriends, from Kitwe's Chamboli Mine Township, supplied the founding members for Zamrock's most famous band, WITCH, and kick started one of Zamrock's best bands, Peace. Their sole Zamrock entry, Black Power, recorded at Malachite Film Studio circa 1973/4 and issued circa 1975, sounds like nothing else in the Zamrock canon: a lost message drifiting from the flower power era, imbued with a fiery Zambian voice."

TALABOT, JOHN Fin LP+CD
2016 repress; LP version with CD. While staying true to his sound, John Talabot has nevertheless shown a constant evolution as a producer since his first release. He has traced a solid musical path that has turned him into one of the big references of European house and has made him also a highly in-demand remixer. This progression now crystallizes in Fin, his first full-length album for Permanent Vacation -- a record in which the Barcelona mastermind sets aside danceable immediacy to expand his stylistic palette more than ever. For that purpose, Talabot melts all the elements that have constructed his distinctive sound until now and makes them emerge from a new perspective in which the construction of complex song structures, intricate rhythms and super-positions of ever-evolving melodies and atmospheres pick up the baton of the "a kick-drum and a sampler" philosophy of his initial productions. The result brings us 11 tracks dominated by dark ambiances, gaseous textures and bittersweet moods that, above all, reveal a kind of vivacity that's really hard to find in contemporary electronics. Fin is far from being a track collection. From the majestic opener "Depak Ine" to its solemn ending with "So Will Be Now," one of the two tracks that features Talabot's soul- and label- mate Pional, each song traces an overall dialogue with the rest, culminating in a highly emotional journey through Talabot's always compelling and unique musical vision. "Talabot has become an exemplar of a new breed of producers working at the intersection of deep house, disco, and indie pop, and he has carved out his own niche somewhere between the slow-motion theatrics of artists such as Mark E and Tensnake, the globe-trotting jewel tones of Four Tet and Caribou, and the psych-pop rush of Animal Collective and Delorean." --Pitchfork (8.5; "Best New Music")

TONGUES OF LIGHT Channelled Messages At The End Of History LP
Tongues of Light present Channelled Messages At The End Of History. Totally stunning record, drawing cosmic, primordial vectors between glossolalia, sound poetry and improvised music via the nebulæ of Youtube for Demdike Stare and Andy Votel's Pre-Cert Home Entertainment. Arguably the label's most striking, even transcendent release, Channelled Messages At The End Of History started life as a gift for a friend following long conversations about the nature of improvisation, spontaneity and musical mediumship and subsequently dawned as a remarkable document of occult praxis in the digital age. Tongues of Light acts as a sort of psycho-pomp or liminal interpreter for a wide range of belief systems, all rooted in the common conviction that they are channeling sounds from some "other" or "higher" entity or dimension, much in the same way that Sun Ra believed he was channeling celestial bodies thru his music or the Dogon people of Sub-Saharan Africa believed they received alien codes describing humanity's heritage. The record unfurls as a seamlessly sequenced compilation of samples - all framed by plasmid drones and synth pads which connect and highlight the links between seemingly disparate elements. By the record's end the effect is really quite uncanny; compounding disparate new age coordinates on a common plane, and thereby revealing their underlying, subconscious metaphysics. It's great to hear Pre-Cert Home Entertainment connecting the dots between generations of new age thought and practice. This slab will stand out as one of their defining releases for time to come. Features sleeve artwork designed by Andy Votel. Cut at Dubplates & Mastering. Edition of 500.

180-gram LP. Limited edition of 500. Originally released in 1975 on the BirdsNest label, the sole album by boogie stompers Agnes Strange is an obscure hard rock gem begging to be rediscovered. Formed in Southampton, UK, in the mid-'70s by Alan Green (bass), Dave Rodwell (drums), and John Westwood (guitar, vocals), Agnes Strange failed to reach any glory or fame, but their legacy of heavy rock riffs, raw leads, and tough attitude -- with a spacey Hawkwind-esque touch here and there -- helped them reach cult status among '70s rock fanatics.

KHUNNT Failures LP+CD
Since 2006, Khünnt have fervently explored the boundaries of esoteric music, from minimalist noise, cack-rock and ESP screams to live improvisation, fog-beat and psychedelic city mantra. Khünnt is: John-Michael Hedley - Bass Guitar; Matthew Baty - Drums; Adam Ian Sykes, Richard Dawson, Sam Grant - Guitar; Stephen Palmer - Vocals, Synth. Members of Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Blown Out & Richard Dawson. To celebrate their 10 year anniversary, Khünnt present new material on Riot Season titled Failures. Failures will be accompanied by a CD compilation of the band's entire blighted back catalogue titled Past, Present & Future. Failures is a one track, near 40-minute hypnotic passage split over two parts for a 12" vinyl release. For the most part the album is less aggravated and more smoked out than Khünnt's previous output but be warned, it is no less intense. The album masterfully exploits repetition and dynamic to the point of overload, before collapsing into raw, feral carnage. The performance of Failures was expertly captured, mixed and mastered by Sam Grant (Bong - Stoner Rock (RITE 024LP, RITE 025CD), Haikai No Ku - Ultra High Dimensionality (BOXREC 006LP)) at Blank Studios, Newcastle. Edition of 150. On 140 gram black vinyl. Housed in 350gsm thick card sleeve. Includes download code.

TOOP, DAVID Entities Inertias Faint Beings LP
"The music existed already, spores maybe or dormant clusters of digital files. Out of three periods of solitude the germination began. The first was in Queensland, on Tamborine Mountain (an aboriginal name), so silent at night that I listened to recorded music - Japanese Gagaku, Buddhist ritual from Bhutan, Korean Confucian music - as if drifting into cavernous black space. Stepping into sleep I saw a hypnagogic image - a transparent swimming pool suspended over the mouth of a volcano. I read Stephen Mansfield's book on Japanese stone gardens - 'Successful stone arrangements seem almost alive, the elements conversing among themselves with an occult vitality, the call and response that has been noted between well-placed rocks resembling the chanting of Buddhist sutras'; Daylight listening in chill air, hearing whip birds, butcher birds, noisy mynahs, kookaburra chatter, rainbow lorikeets; catapult elastic, I wrote, radio waves in a kettle, electric buzzers. On Queensland's Gold Coast I gazed at a distant humpback whale breaching out to sea, watched Yasujiro Ozu's 1934 silent version of A Story of Floating Weeds, listened to cicadas burst into life as a helicopter flew overhead. Back into society and driving with Lawrence English I asked him, why would anybody release music in the 21st century? He laid out his philosophy; I was convinced. Then in St Ives, Cornwall, solitary again, drawing, reading Timothy Morton's Hyperobjects and Clarice Lispector's Agua Viva, gazing at ocean flux, music trembling into life from secreted audio files, music becoming living entities. Phantoms rose up out of sea mist, images of black light and blistered skin from photographers (Takuma Nakahira and Tomatsu Shomei), the fermenting of sounds. From a distance I heard voices - the extraordinary painter Mariko Sugano reciting ancient Japanese garden texts on the taboos associated with stone setting; Emi Watanabe's flute as if a ghost from the Noh; the sounds of underwater creatures in my pond; Sylvia Hallett's sarangi crying; the fervent drumming of Rie Nakajima's small mechanical beings; John Butcher's reeds, music as a scientific exploration of the body, the instrument. In the Noh play Aoi no Ue, the spirit is compelled with drum and plucked string (the catalpa bow). In solitude I contemplated death, decay, the gush of life. Back in the car, Lawrence told me, 'when you die you'll leave many projects unfinished.' I laughed. Unspeakable truths, notes for a language to come, maybe not this world." - David Toop

TERADA PRESENTS, SOICHI Sounds from the Far East 2LP
Compiled by Hunee, Sounds from the Far East features highly sought after material by legendary Japanese house producer Soichi Terada and fellow producers Shinichiro Yokota and Manabu Nagayama. The adventurous, multi-talented Soichi Terada was born in the '60s, and as a child he loved to play on his father's electric organ. Terada majored in computer science and electric organ and after he graduated, he founded his label Far East Recording in 1989, because he couldn't find a label for his compositions at that time. The sound of Far East Recording is very much inspired by American deep house from the early '90s. Soichi Terada went out to parties in the late '80s, where he was equally influenced by house and hip-hop. A few years later, Terada took on producing music by using digital sampling. In the early '90s he occasionally DJed with a DAT player and some reel tapes, instead of using records and turntables. Sounds from the Far East shines light on Soichi Terada's label and consists of material that was originally released in the early '90s. Next to Terada's music, Hunee also selected a few tracks by fellow artist Shinichiro Yokota for this compilation, as well as "Sun Showered," a track based on the incredible Paradise Garage gem called "Sunshower," by Terada and Nami Shimada.

SECOND WOMAN Second Woman 2LP
Second Woman is a collaborative project featuring Turk Dietrich of Belong and Joshua Eustis of the renowned Telefon Tel Aviv. As one would imagine, Second Woman is a nonpareil debut of futuristic electronic music fusing the coveted genetics of the duos' respective previous endeavors into an alluring new enigma of ASMR-inducing kaleidoscopic dub. Second Woman is a fully realized entity, a well-crafted sound world, and a refreshing shared effort that is inspiring in its purity and painstaking in its design. The opening "100407jd7" wastes no time exhibiting mastery in both sound and structure, contorting the frequency spectrum into a psychoactive mirage with its mutating tectonics and vaporous tone clouds. Cuts like "200601je6" and "700358bc5" are bar-raising examples of veteran craftsmanship and vision, refining and reengineering the blueprints of their early works to create an original and dynamic album. The deliberation and control over every particle is obsessive, but the end results of each individual track unfold with an organic temperament unparalleled in a grid-locked world of DAW-shaped musics and rat's-nest modular aleatory. Words fail where essential sonics are concerned, and this vital new creation speaks for itself.

OUSMANE KOUYATE BAND, THE Domba CD
1990 release. If you've heard Salif Keita, Sékouba Bambino, Kandia Kouyaté or Les Ambassadeurs (either the original '70s band or the acclaimed recent reunion), you know what a marvelous guitarist Ousmane Kouyaté is, and you'll jump at the chance to hear him with his own band. He recorded Domba in 1990 after leading Salif's band on his breakthrough European and American tours. Jean-Philippe Rykiel, an arranger and producer who worked on Soro (1987), Salif's monumental solo debut album, brings his innovative wizardry to this project as well, but here, while the singers (including Ousmane himself) are top-flight, the focus is rightly on the masterly guitar.

DIABATE, ABDOULAYE Djiriyo CD
1995 release. Born a Maninka griot, young Abdoulaye Diabaté was taught the praise songs and epics that his forefathers had sung for centuries, but he grew up also listening to griots (including older cousins) performing with Mali's history-making modern bands (the Rail Band, Super Biton, Les Ambassadeurs and others). When he came of age he proved his mettle in Le Kené-Star De Sikasso, one of the most popular Malian bands of the 1980s. Equally at home in tradition and innovation, he flaunts a style that appeals to three generations, as his solo career has proved. This CD, Djiriyo, includes tracks from three cassettes arranged and produced in the early '90s by Boncana Maiga (Alpha Blondy, Africando).

And Cheick Tidiane Seck has played keyboards with artists as diverse as Fela Kuti and Damon Albarn, Youssou N'Dour and Dee Dee Bridgewater. ULYSSES Feelings EP 12"
Feelings EP, Ulysses's second release on The Bunker New York, is confident, coherent, and carefully arranged. "I've found that I only make good music if I'm experimenting," says Ulysses, explaining his compositional process. "How Does It Feel To Feel?" features low-slung basslines and synthesizer blasts that sound like jets flying overhead. "Object of Interest" runs at a similarly slow pace but feels slightly less demented, intensifying the atmosphere and priming it for peak-time. "The Mascara Snake" is the quintessential B-side sleeper: a moody, melodic synth-pop slow-jam that sounds like Duran Duran on some very high quality psychedelics.

MARCELUS Vibrations 3LP
Unshakable integrity, adamant dedication and multi-faceted creativity are all characteristics that define the personality of French electronic artist Marcelus. Following an already fluent relationship with music and a string of single releases on Tresor Records, Marcelus - given name Cedric Bros - thought it would be the opportune moment to dive into his most intimate inspirations and produce Vibrations, his debut album. This full length project naturally comes at a pivotal moment for Marcelus, his experiences and knowledge coming together to create a homogenous body of work reflective of his expertise as a musician so far. Vibrations is purposefully techno oriented. It is a personal journey through his proficiency in the genre, travelling from techno to house-inspired dub-techno to futuristic and experimental. To calculate the dark, nonetheless melancholic energy of the record, mathematical datum of Pi and Phi were deliberately measured into some parts of the composition of each track. The result is an ever-evolving web of rhythms that redefines pre-established structures. Through its rich sonic journey Vibrations proves, from sides A to F, that Marcelus is undoubtedly one of today's most interesting and dexterous producer in the genre.

VELVET UNDERGROUND, THE White Light/White Heat LP
2016 repress; 2008 release. While 1967's Velvet Underground & Nico was a part of Andy Warhol's global artistic vision, 1968's White Light/White Heat was free of all Warholian influence, so in a way it could be thought of as another debut album. Here the music was left to fester on its own, with no artistic visionary interfering or trying to create a soundtrack for his pop art, and the Velvets filled that void with an album that is an aural subway car full of drunkards, junkies and whores rumbling through the bowels of NYC with a one way ticket to oblivion. Includes 3 bonus tracks.

MADDERMODES Empirical Evidence 12"
Andy Harper and Nic Ford present Empirical Evidence as MadderModes. Empirical Evidence is a wholly cinematic piece of work, spread across four tracks that unravel slowly, unified by a theme of pumping syncopated rhythms under sprawling pad and string progressions. It's easy to get lost in the thick arrangements, and the inventive use of samples and melodic elements invite repeat listening. Equally suitable for early morning hours, ultra-deep techno sets, or quiet home listening sessions. Maddermodes have drawn support from top names like Move D and Nick Höppner.
