BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE, THE Their Satanic Majesties Second Request 2LP
2016 repress. Gatefold 180 gram double vinyl version. Truth in advertising: the Brian Jonestown Massacre's sophomore album does, as promised, spring forth from the Rolling Stones' long-underrated 1967 masterpiece Their Satanic Majesties Request, copping not only Mick and Keith's leering bad-boy attitude but also their rock-and-roll-circus spirit. Opening with the brilliant "All Around You (Intro)," a tongue-in-cheek guide to the mind-altering journey ahead, the record is a kaleidoscopic, drug-fueled freakout -- like the Stones' namesake album, Second Request is painted by Eastern drones and psychedelic tangents, each track bubbling with dozens of sound effects including sitars, mellotrons, farfisas, didgeridoos, tablas, congas, and glockenspiels. Travelling through the past, darkly, the Massacre arrives on the other side unscathed; their music is too rich to be merely retro, and too knowing to be merely slavish -- the Stones themselves haven't made a record this strong or entertaining in years.

BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE, THE Third World Pyramid LP
LP version. Third World Pyramid is the 15th full length release from The Brian Jonestown Massacre recorded in early 2016. It is the first album that was fully recorded & produced at Anton Newcombe's new Cobra Studio in Berlin. Third World Pyramid encapsulates the old and new sounds of the band, with the nine tracks starting from the melancholic "Good Mourning" going through to "Assignment Song" - which is a cover of Nina Simone from her 1971 album Gifted & Black - and the latter tracks show the ever-changing dynamic of the band, acknowledging their past but also looking to their future. Featuring Ricky Maymi, Dan Allaire, Joel Gion, Collin Hegna and Ryan Van Kriedt. Also, Emil Nikolaisen from the Norwegian band Serena-Maneesh joins the band on this album, plus vocal performance Tess Parks and Katy Lane. Anton Newcombe has been a very busy man these past two years, kicking off with the critically acclaimed Brian Jonestown Massacre album Revelation in 2014 (AUK 030CD/LP). After a successful UK and European tour, the BJM followed this up with the +- EP (AUK 031EP, 2014). 2015 saw the release of Musique de film imaginé (AUK 032CD/LP); an imaginary film soundtrack album featuring the track "Bonbon" which has, ironically, been used in Dheepan, the Palme D'or winner at Cannes film festival 2015. In June, Anton and Tess Parks embarked on a well-received tour of the UK and Europe to support the release of I Declare Nothing (AUK 120CD/LP, 2015). Anton finished 2015 with a BJM mini-album release entitled Mini Album Thingy Wingy (AUK 033CD/LP).

ZIGAN ALDI Gelbensande EP 12"
The dusty twilight of day and night sets the atmospheric backdrop for the dreamlike groove visions of Berlin based producer Zigan Aldi. "Blue Hill", featuring Sandeck, combines a compelling bassline with the enigmatic sound of a string instrument that seems to originate straight from the parallel world of One Thousand and One Nights. "Rosa Martha" starts as a stripped-down rhythm tool with a rather dark vibe which then contrasts beautifully with a hint of warm house music bubbling up from the depths towards the middle of the track. Mollono.Bass and Pophop dedicate their remixes to the uplifting side of things.

NOTWIST, THE Superheroes, Ghostvillains + Stuff 2CD
The Notwist release their first ever official live recordings with Superheroes, Ghostvillains + Stuff. "Brothers Markus and Micha Acher have launched various musical vessels, bands and free-floating constellations over the past three decades - and yet: amid all these other speedboats and unlikely sonic barges, The Notwist has always remained the mother ship. This new album documents the latest live incarnation of this very band, which also features Andi Haberl, Max Punktezahl, Karl Ivar Refseth, and Cico Beck. Recorded on December 16, 2015 on the second of three consecutive, sold-out nights at UT Connewitz in Leipzig, Germany, Superheroes, Ghostvillains + Stuff indeed feels like a first-hand live experience. That's why it's the definitive album of The Notwist's career. Although there is one song that points to the early, 'louder years' of The Notwist, 'One Dark Love Poem' off the album Nook (1992), the rest of the night's set sees the band perform all the major hits off Neon Golden (2001), The Devil, You + Me (2008), and Close To The Glass (2014). However, these are different, organically enhanced versions, new interpretations and combinations that feel much more alive; thanks to Olaf Opal's incredible mix, they sometimes even outshine the original studio recordings. Listening to Superheroes, Ghostvillains + Stuff feels like watching these songs evolve and change, moving from one frame to the next, much like a baroque triptych. What starts out like 'wimmelbook' imagery, the music soon folds and unfolds like a Moebius strip: Sans bottom or top, sans inside or outside, the inside becomes the outside and vice versa. It's all about sonic interconnection, about music as entanglement, music as reconciliation. The rather majestic, cinematic (indie) pop and experimental, kraut-infused jazz, the spirit of the enlightenment and baroque playfulness, the traces of modernism and minimal music, dub leanings, hip-hop lessons, and even hints of house music: here is where they all come together, reconciled in a sound that's both melancholy and romantic. The crew's back at it, working the instruments, the rigging, with sails a-billow, launching the next voyage of discovery, assuming the east in the west and vice versa. And thus the adventure saga continues." -- Pico Be (Das Weiße Pferd). Comes as a double CD version, in a mini-gatefold, including printed inner sleeves.

"Pianist-composer Eri Yamamoto returns with a bountiful new collection of her singular all-original music, performed with her perennial trio partners of deep empathy, bassist David Ambrosio and drummer Ikuo Takeuchi. As the album title suggests, the material moves through a far range of emotional evocation, from ebullient to thoughtfully introspective, reflecting the absolute vibrancy of her long-time adopted home, New York City, and the importance of finding space within the perpetual motion of the city for moments of reflection and meditation."

WARE & MATTHEW SHIPP DUO, DAVID S. Live in Sant'Anna Arresi, 2004 CD
"Live in Sant'Anna Arresi, 2004 is the 2nd volume in AUM Fidelity's David S. Ware Archive Series, and the first release of the saxophone master in rare duo performance with fellow master of music, pianist Matthew Shipp. Though sharing 17 years together in the legendary David S. Ware Quartet (along with bassist William Parker and a series of drummers), Shipp recalls that he and Ware performed duo concerts perhaps six times at most in that period. Thankfully, on this latter-day occasion, their work together in this form was professionally recorded. This concert is one continuous long-form improvisation; it spans an incredibly wide range of approaches and dynamics. The ecstatic deep listening experience of free jazz performed at a highest level avails itself here in full. Their delightfully pithy 'trading fours' encore to the concert is also included. Obviously the very deep levels of communion which were developed within the context of Ware's Quartet inform this work. In equal evidence is each of them embracing the leaderless duo context, challenging and expanding their mutual language throughout."

HAWKES, MARQUIS Doornroosje 12"
Long term friend of Aus Music Marquis Hawkes presents Doornroosje. Hot on the heels of his recent LP Social Housing (HTH 058CD/LP, 2016) - the Berlin based artist lines up Doornroosje, a tight a two-tracker that remains consistent with his output on Aus: dancefloor-focused jams suffused with simplicity and soul. "Discopuss" kicks things off with a potent combination of samples and hardware as sassy funk samples are propelled by tough crunching drums. The title track follows up with piano stabs and busy, percolating synth lines driven at a pace-y rate to rapturous effect.

In 2014, orchestra conductor Florent Mazzoleni visited the band and decided to produce Madjafalao, recorded in the legendary African studio Satel. With its warm tone and mastery of rhythm variations, Madjafalao ("Watch Out") will instantly become a classic of Afro-beat and Poly-Rythmo will share their warm joie de vivre with thousands of people.

PAUL & THE TALL TREES Our Love In The Light CD
"Staten Island is both close enough to New York City and far enough away to make it easily the most exotic of the 5 boroughs. RZA from Wu-Tang Clan attributes the uniqueness of the Wu to its Hip Hop contemporaries at the time to just that dynamic. Growing up on an island that is neighbors with the capital of the world, but has no bridges to it, no trains or tunnels, only a ferry, turns out to be the perfect recipe to give a New York band a unique take on the energy of the city. Paul Schalda, the bandleader, singer and songwriter of Paul & The Tall Trees is from Staten Island. One part of a crazily talented musical family, Paul's music seems to embody the unexpected overlap of The Band's Americana, Ian MacKaye's unhinged emotion, Otis Redding's raw, warm soul, and the doo-wop melodies his father, Bill Schalda Sr. (a member of Brooklyn vocal group, The Montereys) raised him on. On Paul & The Tall Trees' debut album Our Love In The Light you hear the sum of his experiences. This singular sound is helped by the fact that his father, William Schalda, Sr., and brother, Will Schalda Jr., play on and inspire the record. The album was written entirely by Paul, and produced by another Staten Island native, Thomas Brenneck of Charles Bradley, Menahan Street Band, and Budos Band fame. The combination of the two gives the record an amazing sonic range, from the powerhouse rocker 'Crack Of Down' to the ethereal western vibes of 'She Comes Around'."

SHACKS, THE The Shacks CD
"When you listen to the Shacks's self-titled debut EP, you might imagine that Shannon Wise and Max Shrager are much older than their respective 18 and 20 years. But when Shannon's whisper-vocals breeze through the speakers, you hear the youthfulness of their sound which then in turn explains the fearlessness of their songwriting. Both vaguely familiar and completely fresh, The Shacks are one of the most interesting NYC bands to surface in a minute. Since the release of their first single, 'Strange Boy,' which they recorded with El Michels Affair, The Shacks have been compared to '90s indie icons like Mazzy Star, Jesus and Mary Chain, and Broadcast. As good as those bands are, you wouldn't find a single one of their records in Max and Shannon's music collection. All these bands are drinking from the same well, just 20 years apart."

ALLEN, TONY HomeCooking 2LP
Originally released in 2002, Comet presents the legendary album from Tony Allen, HomeCooking, reissued with a remastered version. Tony Allen talks about the album: "After Black Voices (KSTA 006LP) and Psyco On Da Bus albums, I came back with HomeCooking which was an album filled with guests. I brought in Ty, who had remixed some of my work previously, to rap on the record, and Damon Albarn, who had already sung about me on 'Music Is My Radar'. On the first day in the studio, Damon didn't record anything because we were enjoying ourselves too much. He came with two boxes of champagne and everyone got boozed and he decided he'd take the music back to his own studio and finish it there. That was the beginning of our friendship and since then we've done a lot of different things. Since the early days I've been trying to find things that everybody will want to listen to. I've always been pushing Afrobeat in different directions. Here's another one again, another style, almost clean but still rough, raggedy and radical.'' Also features: Mary & Norman and Eska.

NEW CREATION, THE Troubled LP
2016 repress. "We are thrilled to present the first vinyl reissue of Troubled. Originally pressed in 1970, this extraordinary garage demo barely made it outside of its hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia. We hope this vinyl edition will reach folks who were allergic to checking it out in CD form. For the LP, 500 exact repro copies were pressed at RTI with heavy, textured jackets produced by Stoughton. Just like the original these were printed by letterpress. 'The New Creation is amongst my favorites, the sincerity and verve in the performances remain fresh to the ear and heart thirty years later. Every track here is a magical doorway into a time when liberal thinking was ascendant, minds were expanding, music was filled with new ideas, and the kids were ready to fly as soon as they mastered a few guitar chords. The opening sound collage here may as well have been titled "Food for Thought," seems like every issue and idea except the kitchen sink is expressed. Each track on this LP is a potential personal fave, from the VU stylin' "Sodom & Gomorrah" to the achingly beautiful "Wind." Spiritual Revolution, "That irresistible Man from Galilee is quite upsetting the show!"..."Here in the 20th century, fantastic times with God!" Indeed. Circular melodies, terrific melodic garage band atmosphere -- this is a special experience, and one that gets better with every play. Long live the New Creation!' -- Paul Major, vinyl archaeologist, co-editor of Enjoy the Experience."

MEDICO DOKTOR VIBES Liter Thru Dorker Vibes LP
2016 repress. "The first licensed reissue of Médico Doktor Vibes' mysterious Liter Thru Dorker Vibes LP from 1979 is now available. We feel privileged to have the opportunity to offer this singular recording. Exact repro copies were pressed at RTI with crisp, heavy, old-style tip-in jackets produced by Stoughton. Turns out these seven songs are Guyanese-American artist Bill Russell's only recordings. Bill had 100 vinyl copies pressed up in 1979 on his own Bi-Russell Records label, promoted it modestly and locally, and it went nowhere. Thirty-some years later, in a kind of message in a bottle-type scenario, one of those copies ended up at the Oakland Coliseum Flea Market and found its way into our hands. Inspired by army pals who were recording and releasing music without any label backing, Russell bought a Fender Telecaster and a Korg Mini and recorded Liter Thru Dorker Vibes in a makeshift home studio in South Central L.A. in just a few short sessions. When asked about his influences he insta-mentioned Santana and then added Hendrix, Sly Stone, Jobim, along with some New Orleans jazz stuff as well. For fun we'll go ahead and recommend this to any fan of Suicide, Cymande, Steve Reich, Nadi Qamar, Otis G. Johnson, Lord Invader, Bruce Haack, TJ Hustler, T-Rex, Heitkotter, Edward Larry Gordon, Madrigal, or The Mind Expanders."

POWELL 11-14 2CD
2016 repress. Powell's club-breaking series of 12" singles is now available on CD as 11-14, this killer, comprehensive two-CD collection. It charts the uncompromising development of one of this decade's most ruthless new artists through 18 original tracks taken from five EPs for three different labels -- including his own, Diagonal -- and features a searing collaboration with national noise treasure Russell Haswell. Syncing the muscle memory of late '90s drum and bass with a kink for the toughest '80s industrial and bleeding-edge electronics, Powell's music has emerged as a virile antidote to the conservatism of current dance music. With his first pair of self-released singles, The Ongoing Significance of Steel & Flesh (2011) and the Body Music EP (2012), he established an ascetic, bare-bones approach that resonated with the original no wave mantra -- "rip it up and start again" -- in a barefaced challenge to what was then deemed acceptable on the dancefloor. Precedent set, the controversial four-track Untitled EP (RAVE 002EP, 2013) revealed a more optimized, muscular take on his rollicking torque and freeform, caustic electronics at the cusp of the analog/digital schism. Late 2013 saw the coiled hard-step of Fizz and his most explicit alloys of motorik jungle-techno, before the Club Music EP (DIAG 009EP, 2014) combined all of these influences and exploded with spectacular, unpredictable brilliance, dosing a whole rave's worth of overloaded sensation into three brutally edited constructions, including the notorious "Maniac," starring label-mate and hardwave peer Russell Haswell. Central to it all, from the swaggering stomp of "Body Music" and "Oh No New York" to the deadly jag of "No U Turn," is a tensile, insatiable sense of urgency and a healthy disregard for convention. Mastered by Matt Colton.

N.M.O. Nordic Mediterranean Organization / Numerous Miscommunications Occur 2LP
Exceptional debut album of military space music and/or fluxus techno rave drills from the inimitable, acronymic duo. N.M.O. execute their crazed debut album for Diagonal, distilling the playful calisthenics of their laptop and drum kit live show in a totally unique manner that somehow deconstructs and alliterates tracky acid techno with avant no-wave rock, computer music and the kind of snare-driven tattoos coming out of Portugal's Príncipe label. Nordic Mediterranean Organization / Numerous Miscommunications Occur finds the romantic Viking duo ratcheting the psychotomimetic intensity of their previous tape and trio of 12"s for Anòmia, The Death of Rave (RAVE 009EP, 2015) and Where To Now? According to their central mantra of "As Strict As Possible", resulting in five alarming, powerful dancefloor raids intersected by infuriating locked grooves, or "Neoliberal Madness Offering 1-4", plus a series of barking trained "Unit" drills. The razor sharp and raucous results don't sit comfortably in any pre-ordained category, preferring to scythe their own route through the time-flattened field of contemporary music by employing the fundamentals of physical pressure and precise psycho-acoustic frequencies in a disciplined pursuit of new, syncretic sensations that toy with rave convention and serve to demystify notions of aerobic mysticism. Nose to tail, they spell out their ideas with playfully pedantic attention to detail, whether physically making you get up to nudge the needle from its pervasive locked groove, putting you through your paces in their "German Trained Unit" challenges, or simply driving you to delirium in the album's full blown dance tracks. Cut almost a side-a-piece for optimal intensity, those five dance cuts veer from the clashing sharp and wet, tight-but-distended dichotomies of "RIYL Roma" to the ploughing pneu-beta bass drum and giddy top end tickle of "New Bulgaria", to take in the scuffling, compartmented swerve and teeth-chattering acid of "Armchair Evader" and the squashed, mil-tantric cadence of "Double Arm". In essence, N.M.O.'s first LP serves as both a puckish middle finger and a sore thumb in modern dance music's bloated face, stripping it all down to muscle, nerves and bones in a way that's somehow intuitive and counter-intuitive at the same time, hyper-fresh but primordial and properly ravenous on the floor. RIYL: Belgian techno, SuperCollider, Powell, Lorenzo Senni. Deluxe art by Guy Featherstone. Mastered by Matt Colton.

DJ DIAMOND Footwork Or Die 2LP
Double-LP version. With Footwork Or Die, Chicago's own DJ Diamond returns to the spotlight with a strongly infectious and deep masterpiece, a worthy successor to his debut album Flight Muzik (2011). 2013 saw the release of a reloaded extended version of Flight Muzik, titled First Class Flight Mix, and now in 2016, Duck N' Cover Records bring more of DJ Diamond's outstanding music to the ears of a wide audience. With his first album, DJ Diamond, aka Karlis Griffin, made clear that he is one of the footwork scene's most original producers, with a very distinctive style of his own that is not replicable. The epic quality and deepness of some of the brightest moments on Flight Muzik are back and, in some cases, even topped on Footwork Or Die. An important factor that made DJ Diamond a local legend, long before the debut album was available, is the apparent musicality of his productions. The style lends itself to outsiders, but doesn't compromise on the frenzy that is needed to bring the footworkers the necessary heat. A hybrid, only a genius mind can fabricate. Experience once again, a beautifully sequenced album featuring Duck N' Cover Records notoriously stylish artwork. A perfectly well-balanced compilation of deep and hard hitting material, bearing the mark of a classic album that will stand the test of time.

NOVO LINE Movements LP
Following a limited tape release for Ecstatic, Berlin's Nat Fowler renders his meticulous Novo Line alias for its second full-length release, a killer marriage of automated EBM and unexpected MIDI disruptions, continuing a life-long quest for esoteric knowledge and a love of archaic computer hardware. Modeled on re-appropriated software, run on two separate Atari ST's, Movements is the compelling result of obtuse production technique and painstaking trial and error; basically experimentation at the service of discovering a sound that really sounds unlike anything else out there. As he explains: "I like the idea of using restrictions in order to find and push boundaries, from limiting which octaves I use to how many notes at a time. I use the only PC capable of MIDI that had no multitasking, so communication is immediate, a direct mechanical communication from my fingers to the sounds is created. I feel lucky because technology has accelerated so fast since the first digital synthesizers and PCs that nothing since the early 1980s has been really pushed to its limits." In that sense, he can be placed in a small category of operators - including The Automatics Group, Dave Noyze, Lorenzo Senni and V/VM among them - who persistently gnaw at the boundary between dance-pop and avant-electronics, and with all of whom he shares a capacity for hearing the poetry of singular frequencies, unique pitch combinations and the strange electronic timbres just waiting to be born from overlooked, outmoded equipment. Whilst at times it may recall the saltiest digital tone and gait of early Chicago house and Belgian new-beat, there's a futuristic funk and idiosyncratic ambiguity to Movements that entirely belongs to Novo Line; whether bubbling up the mutant dembow lacquer of opener, "The Movement 1", radiating form the tightly-bound, curdled funk of "Hot Piece", or jabbing like a bag of cyborg slow house cats in "The Movement 2", it really does make for one of the year's finest and most addictive dancefloor mutations, bar none. 2016's most meticulous album of algorithmic body music. Inspired by F.M. Alexander, G.I. Gurdjieff and Pythagoras. Mastered and cut by Matt Colton at Alchemy.

JUNG AN TAGEN Das Fest Der Reichen LP
Jung An Tagen, aka Stefan Juster, presents Das Fest Der Reichen. Jung An Tagen is the primary music act operating inside the Virtual Institute Vienna. By using subtractive synthesis and sampling techniques, Jung An Tagen builds aleatoric arrays, repetitive figures and polyrhythmic moirés circulating around distinctive timbres and haptic fragments. This results in a vision of morphing movements between high energy and zero gravity states. Due to the synaesthesian nature of the VIV, Jung An Tagen is bound very closely to a specific visual grammar and is intertwined with video art, even though the performative settings are usually reduced to music only. Previously, Stefan Juster was mainly present with different bands and monikers on labels like Not Not Fun, Blackest Rainbow, 100% Silk or his own imprint SF Broadcasts. "Lässt Los, Jeder Immer" is the remix of the Jung An Tagen soundtrack for Embargo (2014), a video by Johann Lurf. Artwork and layout by Milica Balubdzic and J. Fröhnel. Mastering by Brian Pyle. Features: Raju Arara, Ensemble Economique, Superskin and Miaux.

CURRAN, BUCK Immortal Light LP
160-gram DMM LP version. Limited edition of 350. Includes download code. Immortal Light is the debut solo album by guitarist-singer-songwriter Buck Curran. Since 2005, Curran has recorded and performed as one half of the alt-folk duo Arborea. To date, Arborea has released five albums, including 2013's ESP-Disk' release Fortress of the Sun (ESPDISK 5002CD/LP). Curran's music has developed through a decade of playing with Arborea, and the experience of playing blues and folk throughout the 1990s. He also draws inspiration from the deep well of folk and rock of the 1960s (Robbie Basho, Tim Buckley, Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman), American blues and folk music of the 1930s, British folk and psychedelic folk rock of the '60s and early '70s (Peter Green, Sandy Denny, The Pentangle, Davey Graham, Nick Drake, Led Zeppelin, Martin Simpson), Indian classical music (Pandit Nikhil Banerjee), and jazz of the '50s and '60s (Ornette Coleman and John Coltrane). Bob Boilen, the host of NPR's All Songs Considered, listed Arborea among his favorite concerts and recommended live acts in 2012. Arborea's fourth album, Red Planet, was released in 2011 to critical acclaim, appearing in Rolling Stone's "The Best Under-the- Radar Albums of 2011" (selected by David Fricke) and Uncut's "Top 100 Albums of 2011" and taking the "Editors Top Pick" in the December 2011 issue of Guitar Player Magazine. Fortress of the Sun appeared in AllMusic's "Favorite Folk Albums of 2013" and "Favorite Singer/Songwriter Albums of 2013" lists, as well as Acoustic Guitar Magazine's "Best Acoustic Albums of 2013" and the "Best of Echoes 2013 Listener Poll" -- and in 2014 Paste included Arborea as one of "Nine Maine Bands You Should Listen to Now," part of the magazine's "50 States Project." Immortal Light features Buck Curran on vocals, guitars, harmonium, flute, and banjo; Shanti Deschaine contributes backup vocals on "New Moontide" and "Bad Moon Rising," and lead vocals and harmonium on "Immortal Light."

MAURICE, CHARLES French Disco Boogie Sounds Vol. 2, 1978-1985: Selected by Charles Maurice 2LP
Double LP version. Gatefold jacket. After an internationally acclaimed first edition (FVR 101CD/LP, 2015), Favorite Recordings and Charles Maurice follow-up their French Disco Boogie Sounds compilation with this second volume. Pursuing his fine work at digging rare music from around the world, DJ and collector Charles Maurice presents another brilliant selection of great music linked to France and French West-Indies: 12 hidden and forgotten titles, all produced between 1978 and 1985, in France, or by French artists abroad. Again, he perfectly browses and defines the great energy and quality of this specific disco/funk scene at that time, both in the underground market, or through bigger labels. On one hand, tracks by Crystal, Jackie Esam, Ideku Dynasty or Marc Ashy, were produced by small artists and labels from the French Caribbean and African community and are filled with a raw spirit and some tropical influences. On the other hand, tracks by Claude Morgan, Greg Smaha, Roots, or Black Bells Group, were released by major labels such as Phonogram, RCA, Derby, or Carrere, thanks to confirmed independent producers, acting not only in France, but also in Canada and the US. Favorite Recordings and Charles Maurice unearth these 12 gems, amongst them some very hard to find and almost unknown titles. Also features: Charms, Neilo Feel,Nel Oliver and Messan.

GENDRON, MYRIAM Not So Deep as a Well LP
2016 version on black vinyl. The debut LP by Montreal's Myriam Gendron is one of 2014's signature releases. Feeding Tube had previously been made aware of Myriam when she performed at the Michael Hurley cover tune showcase at the Casa del Popolo. That event, tied to l'Oie de Cravan's publication of The Words to the Songs of Michael Hurley, introduced Myriam as a wonderful if spectral guitarist and singer, whose signature sound was as light as it was intoxicating. Her next performance was an event including the American poet Charles Plymell, and she debuted a set of material based on the poems of Dorothy Parker. Everyone was blown away. Plymell and Gerard Malanga were effusive in their praise of her work, and when a tape fell into the hands of Richard Meltzer, he agreed that Myriam's approach to the material attained a singularity of loss that had not yet been approached. The set was a stun gun, set on its highest possible notch. It blew away anything similar, and achieved a wordy beauty that both buggered description and celebrated itself. Parker's poetry -- though little-known in comparison to her prose -- offers many possibilities of both beauty and humor. Myriam grabs every edge availed to her, and does so beautifully. This album glows with holism and is one of the most beautiful evocations of times past and present and future you will hear. Edition of 500.

FOUR THING Four Thing LP
"Zach Phillips was a fixture in the Brattleboro scene for a good many years. As a member of Blanche Blanch Blanche and Big French (among others), as well as the creator of many solo projects under various guises, runner of the OSR label, and all around Renaissance handyman, Phillips moved to Brooklyn a while back. Once ensconced there he began playing as half of CE Schneider Topical, and generally stirring up the same kinds of mytery-aktion which had marked his northern existence. Four Thing is the result of one his more oblique strategies. Ostensibly a surrealist parlor game involving four objects, four players, and four potential event sequences, Four Thing is one of Zach's concepts made flesh. Or vinyl. Four lyricists -- Jeremy Daly (Lou Breed), Quentin Moore (Big French, etc.), Hanna Novak (playwright & theater tech associated with Half Straddle) and Christina Schneider (of CE Schneider Topical and Jepeto Solutions), interpreted by four singers -- Becca Kauffman (Ava Luna, Jennifer Vanilla), Ben Russell (Brooklyn-based actor), Sami Stevens (Tredici Bacci), and Colin White (R. Hundro), with music and direction by Zach, and superb squint-em art by Sarah D. Smith (Blanche Blanche Blanche). Hard to figure exactly if there are four objects dealt with in each set of lyrics, but whether or not there are, the structures of the 16 pieces have an elegantly compelling weirdo-pop logic that will make any room feel like a parlor. The keyboard based miniatures make us think what the Weekend might have sounded like if they'd decided to enlist the Bonzos's Neil Innes as a member. There's an edge to the proceedings that zooms in and out like a crazy, animated telescope. Parts recall expanses of the classic Peter Blegvad/John Greaves LP, Kew Rhone, although there are also kinks that make one think of Art & Language-era Red Krayola. It's kind of like listening to a Rubik's cube. In the best way possible." --Byron Coley, 2016. "This is an opera, an opera based on a made-up game. Four weird librettists, four weird singers, some unholy chug of gem crashes in the popping by below." --Chris Weisman, 2016. Edition of 500.

CYPRESS HILL Cypress Hill (25th Anniversary Skull Reissue) CD BOX
"Cypress Hill teamed up with Get On Down to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1991 debut with an ultra deluxe '25th Anniversary Skull' reissue. The entire set is housed in a unique, hard resin black skull - a faithful, 3-D physical recreation of the group's 1991 logo. A CD with remastered audio and a 100-plus page hardcover book are also included. The book features extensive liner notes by journalist Chris Faraone with input from B-Real, Sen Dog and DJ Muggs, and also includes full album lyrics and rarely seen photos provided by the group, as well as press clippings from 1991. Cypress Hill's self-titled debut album was hard as nails, with very few pop concessions. There was humor, but it was laced by cackling, homicidal sneering. Not well known outside of the hardcore hip-hop scene at first, faces of the three group members weren't usually shown clearly in press photos; they preferred the shadows. As their first singles began hitting the airwaves and record racks, the press and music fans started to take notice. From the opening notes of the group's first single, 'The Phuncky Feel One,' to deeper album cuts like 'Stoned Is The Way Of The Walk' and 'Tres Equis,' it was clear that Cypress Hill was something different. And very, very dope."

NADJA The Stone Is Not Hit By The Sun, Nor Carved With A Knife LP
LP version. Nadja return with The Stone Is Not Hit By The Sun, Nor Carved With A Knife, their first release for Gizeh Records. The Canadian/Berlin-based ambient doom duo of Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff continue their ultra-prolific output with a monolithic record which explores the depths of heavy noisescape-related music. Encompassing distorted riffs and hypnotic rhythms the album sonically attempts to continue on from the more structured elements of the duo's recent Queller album (2014), coupling that approach with Nadja's more traditional sprawling, dense and challenging sounds. The relentless fuzzed-out textures repeat and build into a blissful and cathartic whole - a place to be completely immersed. In the deep, glacial and all-consuming world that Baker and Buckareff provide the listener with here, there is a will to dissolve, to let the record wash right over you or perhaps even through you. At times crushingly beautiful, The Stone Is Not Hit By The Sun, Nor Carved With A Knife is brought to life by its clever restraints with quieter interludes serving a perfect purpose against its more intense, heavier moments. The album's intriguing title comes from a runic inscription on an Icelandic burial stone but the phrase also appears on the Eggja Stone which provided some of the lyrical content on the record. Nadja have a habit of transcending genres and indeed throughout their career, they have been incredibly difficult to pin down. The Stone Is Not Hit By The Sun, Nor Carved With A Knife is a welcome addition to that hefty catalogue and stands up tall against their most impressive work. Aidan Baker - guitars, vocals, drum machine; Leah Buckareff - bass guitar Recorded in the autumn of 2015 at Broken Spine Studios, Berlin. Mastered by James Plotkin. Artwork by Aidan Baker and Richard Knox.

MONTGOMERY, ROY RMHQ: Headquarters 4CD
"It's been over a decade since Roy Montgomery's last album, and RMHQ is a hell of a return. This release contains four distinct records of new material. Listening to any of his work is a visceral experience -- repeating phrases swell and decay, immersing the listener in the cyclical narrative of his compositions. Montgomery was in his rock band period in the eighties, when the dark, minimalist post-punk of The Pin Group lead into the gloriously open-ended freedoms of Dadamah. After a quiet spell, he returned in the late nineties, producing towering spires of guitar lines that exposed fragility between the strums. With his solo releases and in collaboration with Flying Saucer Attack, Bardo Pond (Hash Jar Tempo), and Chris Heaphy (Dissolve), his focus shifted from the truth-mining of rock music to epic celestialism. His ambitious yet humble tracks outstrip their origins, and Montgomery toured the world sitting cross-legged on the floor, playing twenty-plus-minute compositions. A long period of silence followed, marked only with a split album with Grouper (who lists Montgomery as a primary influence), involvement in Torlesse Super Group, and a couple thematic variations serving as soundtracks for films. Instead, he focused on his personal and professional commitments. Unfortunately, two horrific events preceded his return: the Christchurch earthquakes of 2011 condemned Montgomery's entire neighborhood save for his home, stripping his street of a community; and, as a volunteer firefighter, he saw first-hand the destruction and loss of life in the city center. Additionally, since 2014, illness in the family has dominated his life. Self-expression once again demanded an outlet. RMHQ is four albums conceived and recorded over a very short period, each of them carrying a distinct focus and mood."

OLIVERI'S MONDO GENERATOR, NICK Best Of (Blue Vinyl) 2LP
Double LP version. Blue vinyl. Gatefold cover. 2017 marks two decades of existence for the instrument of sonic chaos known as Mondo Generator. The project, formed by then-soon-to-be-Queens of the Stone Age bassist/vocalist Nick Oliveri (Dwarves, Bl'ast, Kyuss), released their first album, Cocaine Rodeo, in 2000 via a nascent Southern Lord Recordings and never looked back through a whirlwind of intense punk, speed metal and heavy rock. Across four studio full-lengths and more tours than one could count, Mondo Generator has never been nothing less than completely in your face, so that even Oliveri's acoustic work arrives dripping with attitude. With Best Of, Mondo Generator compile tracks from their albums and numerous EPs. Topped with artwork by Branca Studio the collection spans the career of the band, with guest appearances throughout from Josh Homme, Dave Catching, Dave Grohl, Alain Johannes, John Garcia, Brant Bjork, Alfredo Hernandez, Mark Lanegan, Chris Goss and many more. As of the fall 2015, Mondo Generator have been working as the trio of Oliveri, guitarist Mike Pygmie and drummer Jeff Bowman. "I'm stoked that somebody wants to put out the Best Of record and the songs on the album are the best songs over the years, 1997 to the present," says Oliveri. "I feel that those records slipped through the cracks and now this is a chance for people to get a better presentation of the band. Only the best songs off the records!"

MONSTERNAUT Monsternaut (Yellow Vinyl) LP
LP version. Yellow vinyl. Monsternaut is a straight up stoner rock group from Kerava Finland. An unpretentious trio that delivers simple rock'n'roll in the spirit of Fu Manchu and alike. Formed in the winter of 2012 by Tuomas Heiskanen and Perttu Härkönen, they shuffled around a few drummers before making Jani Kuusela a permanent member in 2014. Boasted a sound born out of heavy Fu Manchu influence, with a tonal touch of Queens Of The Stone Age bounce and desert-bred groove. The trio of vocalist/guitarist Heiskanen, bassist Härkönen and drummer Kuusela thicken up nodding, momentum-rich riffs and offer a return to '90s stoner heavy purity without sounding retro or like they're 20 years behind the times - at least not any more than they want to be. The songs on their two offerings to date offer catchy, The Action Is Go-style stomp, where a slower lurch maximizes the groove at play. This release is a combination of two older recordings. The first session was back in 2012 and the second in 2014. "We're happy to have Heavy Psych Sounds release them as one bundle, but are also more or less ready to record more if the stars keep aligned."

MOSSE, KASSEM Disclosure CD
Disclosure is a subtly intense offering of lush drum-machine nocturnes, gnarly electronica and glorious dives deep into zoned-out dub-space from Kassem Mosse. Evolutionary music, continuously engaged with experimentation both in the studio and the club. Whether prepared solo, or jointly with his spar Mix Mup, a Kassem Mosse recording is less of a stand-alone creation than the next thrilling new fragment clipped from an ever-mutating, unstoppable groove. The result is a back catalog containing some of the most mystical and essential dancefloor-rooted music of the last decade, from dusty, dream state techno on Workshop and Mikrodisko Recordings, to the frazzled percussive beat downs on Trilogy Tapes and Nonplus. Techno and house still animate Disclosure, yet with something newly microscopic about them. Its mesmerizing play of pointillistic percussion, melting-wax chords and fleshy bump'n'grind suggests biological processes at work, as if Mosse has zoomed right into the cellular metabolism ticking away at the music's core. These textures are channeled into some of KM's richest and most emotionally complex music yet, constantly pricked with terse allusions to jazz and dub: the deep blue synthetic brass and dizzying rhythmic fracas of "Phoenicia Wireless"; the swooning moonlit techno of "Collapsing Dual Core" and "Molecular Memories"; the frantic drum-machine tarantella of "Galaxy Series 7"; the heady, heavy-lidded drama of the closer "Purple Graphene". Sometimes, as on the glowering, sub-loaded stomper "Drift Model", his beats sound ancient, caked in soot and dust - an intricate ballet for fossilized drum machines. Disclosure brilliantly offers all the self-contained coherence and artistic authority of an album proper - yet it's always shadowed by the open-ended and questing spirit so vital to Mosse's music, the sense that anything could happen at any moment.

HAASTRUP, JONI Wake Up Your Mind (Deluxe Gatefold) LP
Hot Casa reissues Joni Haastrup's Wake Up Your Mind, originally recorded in 1978. Growing up in a royal household in Nigeria, Joni Haastrup began his musical journey performing for his brother's band Sneakers and was quickly snapped up as a vocalist for Orlando Julius Ekemode and his Modern Aces's 1966 Super Afro Soul album (VAMPI 091CD), one of Afro-beat's formative albums. Soon after, Ginger Baker of Cream fame replaced Steve Winwood with Joni on keys for Air Force's UK concerts in '71 and the success of the collaboration led to further shows with Baker as part of the SALT project before he returned to Nigeria to set up MonoMono. Back in London in 1978, Joni recorded his solo gem Wake Up Your Mind for the Afrodesia imprint. Laced with funk basslines, swirling keyboards and screaming guitars, this is Joni's most "western" record but at the same time, unmistakably African in origin. From the slow-motion disco of "Greetings" to the stone-cold groove of "Watch Out" to the Reuben Wilson-style funk of "Free My People" Joni was soaking up the sounds of the times and blending them with the music of his roots. Limited repress of Hot Casa's 2011 reissue. Deluxe gatefold sleeve.

ORB, THE COW / Chill Out, World! LP
LP version. 180 gram vinyl. The Orb, Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann, have become known for their genre-bending curiosity and surprising sonic detours, exploring experimental soundscapes as well as club-friendly beats. COW / Chill Out, World! is a masterful ambient album that branches out in many directions, but unmistakably sounds like The Orb. In contrast to their much-acclaimed previous full-length Moonbuilding 2703 AD (KOMP 124CD/KOM 330LP, 2015), which took years to prepare and fine-tune, COW / Chill Out, World! was produced over the course of only five sessions in six months, directly following the like-minded Alpine EP (KOM 339EP, 2016). Paterson on recording the album: "It got so spontaneous that a track like '9 Elms Over River Eno (Channel 9)' consisted only of material collected at North Carolina's Moogfest in May - second-hand records from local stores, field recordings, live samples from gigs that we liked, and of course an excursion to the Eno River, which actually exists. This geographic intimacy and the spontaneity are among the top reasons why we love this album so much." Fehlmann sees the duo's relentless gigging schedule as a formative influence on the new album: "the countless performances we've played in the last years have brought us closer as a musical unit. The spice of our concerts is improvisation - a fertile process that we've brought to the studio, where we operate with very simple rules of engagement and go wherever the flow takes us." It's an approach that one might expect from traditional acoustic instrumentation, not necessarily an electronic set-up. Once more, The Orb's trademark playfulness is on full display on COW / Chill Out, World! and it doesn't limit itself to the multi-layered sampling and psychedelic sound composites. It's not so much an obscure trope coming full circle as a perfect example for The Orb's multi-timbre approach to sound and meaning - a compelling, immersive journey to diverse places and impressions. Each track title is a conceptual work in its own right, playing with multiple references, some of which remain highly personal and mysterious. But the greatest feat of The Orb's latest outing might just be how all this semantic doodling never gets in the way of the actual listening, at all times directly relating the artists's sonic vitality and cheerful nosiness.

YOUNGE PRESENTS, ADRIAN The Electronique Void: Black Noise Instrumental LP
"Adrian Younge calls The Electronique Void an academic album, by which he means it is both instructional and informational. The science of love, its formulas and if-then constraints, causal relationships and observable properties, is best taught experientially, but learning it hurts so, so bad. Music, especially electronic music, reliant as it is on abstraction and unrepentant as it is about hijacking your physiological responses to tempo and rhythm and dynamics, is a way to get there without going through it. Electronic music as practiced and developed by pioneers like Dick Hyman and Raymond Scott and Wendy Carlos is precise and intentional. In making his first electronic album, Younge took his cues from them, reminding a contemporary audience what a synthesizer, deep in its heart, really could be. This study of how music crafted with synthesizers can tap into raw human emotion is sure to excite long-time fans of Younge as well as devotees of electronic music. Adrian Younge now presents what is sure to be one of his most sought after instrumental releases, The Electronique Void: Black Noise Instrumentals."

HARRIS & THE HOT BAND, EMMYLOU Amazing Grace Coffee House Evanston, IL 15 May 1975 LP
1975 was a bold and exciting time for Emmylou Harris, whose career itself was burgeoning with the release of her second album, Pieces of the Sky, released five years after her 1970 debut, Gliding Bird, on Jubilee. A revised energy with Reprise would inspire a third album, Elite Hotel, recorded in June of 1975 and released in December of that year. Her appearance at The Amazing Grace Coffee House on May 15, 1975, consists of material drawn from her two 1975 albums. From the very beginning, Harris set high standards for herself, as well as the musicians she would work with. Her integrity and artistic ability led her to transcend the country-rock genre, becoming universally respected by fellow artists and music fans alike. Her Amazing Grace Coffee House appearance in May 1975 captures Harris at her peak. Many of the most enduring songs from both of her 1975 albums were featured in her sets from this time. Her interpretations of highly recognizable country standards, such as Buck Owens's "Together Again," Hank Williams's "Jambalaya," and Merle Haggard's "Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down" all compare favorably with the originals, proving that Harris was quite capable of taking a classic and making it her own. The complete WXRT-FM broadcast of Emmylou Harris's May 1975 performance at The Amazing Grace Coffee House, Evanston, IL is presented here. Digitally remastered sound with background liners and rare photos.

POP, IGGY Search And Destroy: Live In Chicago 1988 LP
Iggy Pop, live at Chicago's Caberet Metro on 12th July 1988. Iggy Pop was no stranger to Chicago's Cabaret Metro in the 1980s, a rock and roll fixture with decades of smoke and sweat to show for its décor. The adrenaline is laid on thick and fast when Iggy walks out to greet the Metro crowd as Hanoi Rocks's Andy McCoy rips into the slicing, dumb metal of the title-track from Iggy's latest return-to-form album Instinct (1988). Iggy's plugged in for another power surge and the pace is set as the acrobatics nearly bring the ceiling down. "We're gonna rock it to ya straight -- no bullshit... Music should never be too good, too tight. It should excite you. The Stooges's music is supposed to make me feel good. And I've always had faith that if I feel good, others will." This is the complete original WXRT-FM broadcast of Iggy Pop's explosive performance at Chicago's Cabaret Metro on July 12, 1988. Professionally remastered with background liners and rare archival photos.

The Byrds, 1978 Reunion Concert, live at The Boarding House, San Francisco, February 9th, 1978. By the mid-70s, fans had given up hope of ever seeing Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark and Chris Hillman sharing a stage again. But in 1977, they did just that, performing intermittently to rapturous crowds in both the US and Europe, both solo and in various combinations. The classic performance captured on this set features David Crosby on numerous tracks, much to the audience's delight. Originally recorded for broadcast on KSAN-FM, the entire broadcast is presented here together with background notes and images, and comes as close as anything ever did to a reunion of the original, immortal Byrds. MF DOOM Operation: Doomsday (Metal Face Cover) (Black Vinyl) 2LP
"Back again on vinyl where it belongs, MF DOOM's 1999 classic Operation: Doomsday is now presented on a premium grade LP, with audio re-mastered from the original Fondle'Em Records release, and a poster of the album cover art! Underneath his mysterious metal mask, MF DOOM hides the cachet underground legends are made of. After KMD (his first group)'s 1994 sophomore album Bl_ck B_st_rds was shelved by Elektra in 1994 and his blood brother Subroc (one half of the sibling rap duo) passed away, surviving front-man Zev Love X mutated into the MC Avenger known as MF DOOM and the rap world is better for it. This 19-cut deep album is ridiculously dope, in a bizarro Ol' Dirty Bastard kind of way. Doom sounds either high or drunk on most of the tracks, his self-produced beats are gritty, and his rhyme styles are almost indecipherable. On arguably the best track, 'Rhymes Like Dimes,' Doom weaves some pointed lyrics through his abstract wordplay, spitting 'only in America could you find a way to earn a healthy buck / And still keep your attitude on self-destruct.' 'Who You Think I Am?' features DOOM's crew M.onster I.sland C.zars, while on '?' he trades hot verses with former Columbia artist Kurious Jorge. Doom's avant-garde ghetto-rhyme philosophies take even more intentionally weird twists on 'Tick, Tick...' where he and guest MC MF Grimm's flows warble over a rhythm track whose tempo speeds up and slows down continually. The comic-book themed skits, will help take you deep into the mind of an MC who is as otherworldly as they come. And in today's bland commercial rap universe, Operation: Doomsday's left-of-center beats and rhymes are the perfect remedy."

DEUTER/BHAGWAN SHREE RAJNEESH, CHAITANYA HARI Kundalini Meditation LP
New age masterpiece from krautrock mystic Deuter, this album contains the music for the first two stages of an hour long kundalini meditation developed for westerners by Rajneesh (later known as Osho). The stages involve listening to the music and "Shaking" (stage one), "Dancing" (stage two), and "Witnessing" (stage three). These stages are not really meditations but a sort of preparation to facilitate meditation. Rajneesh had been trying to teach the practice of direct meditation for ten years before he realized his effort was futile: "I would say, 'Relax', to those I was teaching. They would appear to understand the meaning of the word, but they could not relax." He developed a technique that would activate the body with intense movement, creating tension in order to allow for the stillness of the meditation. Deuter and Rajneesh (along with a team of disciples that tested and consulted on these methods) collaborated to make music that would (in stage one and two) occupy the mind and compel the body. The music of stage three was designed to relax the body and compel the mind to awareness, acting as a transition to stage four, which is silent, with the person lying down, (actually) meditating. Speaking about music, Rajneesh wrote, "Between sounds of music there are gaps of silence. The authentic music consists not of sounds, but of the gaps. Music can make you aware of those gaps more beautifully than anything else." While living at the ashram as a disciple of Rajneesh, Deuter produced a series of compositions to be used in these "active" meditations. They were recorded using a multitrack tape machine and an assortment of acoustic and electronic instruments - guitar, tambura, bells, percussion, and synthesizers. The playing style is repetitious yet dynamic, incorporating loops, Indian classical motifs, musique concrète, and pastoral acoustic passages. Kundalini Meditation, never released on vinyl in the states, is presented here for the first time with the full length tracks. It was originally released in 1979.

MAKER Maker vs. Now-Again Vol. 3 CD
"Chicago-area beatsmith Maker's two entries into Now-Again's Music Library series showcase the verve with which this underground Chicago hip-hop producer undertook an exercise in boom-bap era aesthetics: he dug deep into the Now-Again catalog and found dusty drum breaks to underscore two bar loops. Maker vs. Now-Again made the case that hip hop didn't necessarily have to fly into a dub-step inflected future if it was still having fun in its funky past. Maker vs. Now-Again Vol. 2 expanded beyond the American funk, soul and jazz that Now-Again was founded upon and included worldly grooves from far-flung locales like Nigeria, Brazil and Zambia flipped up by this hip hop classicist. With his latest, Maker vs. Now-Again Vol. 3, we find that the producer grabbing from the best of both worlds, from the riches of the ever-expanding Now-Again catalog. OT TO NOT TO Goshen LP
Ot To Not To is an experimental R'n'B project by Virgina native Ian Mugerwa that combines low fidelity electronic recording techniques with unconventional song structures to produce music that serves as homage to dusty old blues recordings. At 19, Ian left his hometown of Fairfax for Richmond, where he slept on friends's floors for several months while recording Goshen. During the day he would "hunt dussy" and during the night he would haul borrowed equipment over to the Virginia Commonwealth University music facilities and record until the morning. He was moderately successful on both fronts. The resultant recordings form a coming of age album, a snapshot of Ian from the ages of 19 to 20. Ian's goal was to explore new aesthetics in black music through use of nontraditional methods, creating a less polished, less sterile R'n'B in the process. Such methods included layering 40+ cello tracks to create the illusion of an orchestra, or collaging four, separate, four-minute tracks of improvised percussion into one. Most drums were recorded last. Despite the focus on experimentation, it was important to Ian that he be crafting pop music. It is his belief that an impactful artist has, at least to some degree, a moral responsibility to deliver their art to the maximum amount of people (to efficiently help art as a whole progress). In other words, if restraint can be exercised, it ought to be. "Regretta I" features Noah Smith. RIYL: James Blake, Phil Elvrum, Mark Hollis, and D'Angelo.

BURROUGHS, WILLIAM S. Curse Go Back LP
Repressed. William Burroughs was in and out of London from the mid-50s to 1974 and for several years quite settled in a flat near Piccadilly. During this latter time he developed and refined the techniques he used for creating cut-ups on tape. Working closely with Ian Sommerville, who helped acquire, and no doubt maintain, the various tape recorders that Burroughs used and abused in these experimental works. The work here is in two sections, which in their original form lasted for over an hour and first appeared in 1998 under the name Electronic Revolution as a free CD with Issue One of the French magazine Crash. The CD was quickly withdrawn with maybe only 100 copies finding their way into circulation. This edition is edited down to 46 minutes and comprises the core of the original recording. It employs the now familiar techniques of random drop-ins and cut-ups of readings. The readings themselves are also cut-ups of words on the page. The first section of the tape uses further processing by means of a second tape recorder. Recorded in Duke Street in 1968, the tape was then passed on to Brion Gysin in Paris where it remained in his archive until 1998. This is the first readily available edition of an hypnotic and meditative recording that examines the hidden power of words. Closer to work of sound poetry than anything literary. The album includes a 12"x12" insert with an essay by Ben Harper and several previously unseen portrait photos of Burroughs, taken by Harriet Crowder in her Hammersmith flat during a drug experiment. The back cover uses another Crowder image - the very next frame after the famous shot that appeared on the cover of the English Bookshop/ESP Call Me Burroughs LP (1965). Pressed at Optimal on transparent vinyl. Edition of 500 (numbered).

YUKSEK Sweet Addiction EP 12"
12" vinyl version. Sweet Addiction is Yuksek's great studio comeback - these five elegant tracks signal his return as a main player. "Make It Easy" features the Greek singer Monika and the duo Her are featured on "Sweet Addiction". Yuksek's characteristic sound, midway between post-disco, house and pop, shines through on its various tracks. Even more than on his last album, Living On The Edge Of Time (2011), Yuksek shows his talent as a singer. His new melodies are sunnier than before; his beats and production more subtle. Airy, but still conveying a touch of hedonism in its most club-friendly sounds, this EP is a foretaste of a sparkling new opus. At the start of the 2000s, Yuksek released a series of EPs and then two albums: Away From The Sea (2009) and Living On The Edge Of Time. Those records laid the foundations of a sound that uncompromisingly combined pop, disco and electro. Then in 2013, he set up his own label Partyfine, working from his studio at the French National Drama Center in Reims. The label is now home to artists such as Clarens, Weekend Affair, Get A Room!, Jean Tonique, Tepr and Villa. Since 2013, he has collaborated with Chassol, Keren Ann, Yaya Herman Dune, JD Samson, Boston Bun, The Magician (Peter & The Magician) and Alex Metric (The Alexanders), and continued to make remixes (Lana Del Rey, Phoenix, M83, Gorillaz, Empire Of The Sun). Yuksek has also devoted a lot of time to writing for cinema, television and the stage. He composed the philharmonic orchestral music for the original sound track of the Valérie Donzelli movie Marguerite Et Julien (2015), which was in competition at the 2015 Cannes Festival, and music for an Ingmar Bergman play performed by Sophie Marceau on the Arte TV channel. He also wrote the instrumental arrangements for director Ludovic Lagarde's adaptation of L'Avare (The Miser) in 2014 and has composed music for documentaries.

HEXA Factory Photographs LP
In 2015, Brisbane's Gallery Of Modern Art presented David Lynch: Between Two Worlds, a major retrospective of Lynch's works across painting, sculpture, installation and photography. To celebrate the retrospective curator, José Da Silva, with David Lynch and his studio, developed a number of commissions in conjunction with the exhibition. One of these commissions was HEXA's sonic response to David Lynch's Factory Photographs. When asked recently about his decades long interest in photographing factories in various states of disuse, David Lynch remarked "I grew up in the north-west of America where there are no factories at all, just woods and farms. But my mother was from Brooklyn, so when I was little we used to go there and I got a taste for a certain kind of architecture and a feeling for machines and smoke and fear. To me, the ideal factory location has no real nature, except winter-dead black trees and oil-soaked earth. Time disappears when I'm shooting in a factory, it's really beautiful. " HEXA, aka Lawrence English and Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu), met in 2009. Initially connecting through their mutual admiration of affective sound, 20th century Japanese photography and birdwatching, it wasn't long before the pair found themselves discussing possible musical collaborations. After some months considering exactly what might drive this undertaking, they decided the work should chart out mutual sonic interests that occupy the space beyond of their individual practices. After developing a dynamic sonic methodology, their project began to take form through the trading of various materials and ideas. Meeting in various locations as their tour schedules haphazardly crossed paths, the two began to form a focused mode of operation that concerned itself primarily with physically affective sound, cycling rhythm and intense textural density. Deciding on the name HEXA, their work together became quickly focused on the David Lynch Factory Photographs project following the Gallery Of Modern Art's commission captured in this edition. HEXA will present Factory Photographs as an audio visual work in 2017. David Lynch has kindly allowed the original visual montage of his photographs to be presented as part of the piece as it was during the debut performance in Brisbane during 2015.

OSTARA Napoleonic Blues LP
"Napoleonic Blues is the seventh album by Ostara, and their second release for Soleilmoon, following Paradise Down South (2013). Inspired by the famous picture of the defeated emperor at Fontainebleu, Napoleonic Blues is a reflection on the persistence of the past in the chaos of the present, history's long shadow that refuses to dissolve. Echoing lines from the Roman poet Horace, the battle hymns of the Crusades, the rebirth of the Islamic Caliphate, the siege of Gaza, the collapse of Detroit and the meditations of St John of the Cross, this is a journey through the night and fog that lingers like the smoke of an eternal flame. Eleven songs, linked by a chain of time, the ancient stalking the modern, the lamp of the golden age lit on the pyre of the darkest days. Richard Leviathan, formerly of Strength Through Joy, has enjoyed a long creative affiliation with Douglas Pearce of Death In June, who released Strength Through Joy's single 'Dark Rose' and two albums in the mid 1990s. Leviathan and Pearce collaborated on Death in June's Kapo! and Scorpion Wind with Boyd Rice and John Murphy in 1996. Ostara has been Leviathan's solo project since 2002 with six previous releases that have firmly established him in the neo-folk genre. Evocative titles, intellectually stimulating poetry, strong melodies, a feel for language, smooth clear voices and a polished professional sound characterize the work of Ostara. LEGENDARY PINK DOTS, THE The Maria Sessions 2LP
"Summer of 1990 was glorious. The Dots entered the studio on a high as The Crushed Velvet Apocalypse seemed to be embraced by a broad audience. Our label Play It Again Sam had been generous with the budget for a new record, and there was a spirit of daring adventure firing up the band. For the first month we pretty much jammed... and Bob captured many of these sessions on a small tape recorder placed in the middle of the studio. Bob had dusted off his sitar, Niels unearthed his monstrous kettle drums, Phil surrounded himself with synths and samplers. If it hadn't been for the mosquitoes we might have played through the nights. Driving to the studio each day was a challenge in itself, as the last stretch was just dirt-track with huge potholes to navigate around. There were other obstacles too: sand drifts, Highland cattle that stubbornly blocked the path and Konik horses - partial to nibbling the plastic wing mirrors and rubber tires on Phil's car. But... most dangerous of all were the nature walkers - they would shake their fists and rant about it being a nature reserve, and that cars were not allowed (always choosing to ignore that one board which read 'except for residents'). The albums are presented in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with tip-on printing, with lyrics, track list and band photo printed on the inner sleeves."

NEON Rituals LP
Spittle Records present a reissue of Neon's first album Rituals, originally released in 1985. Neon is undoubtedly one of the most influential and enduring bands of the Italian new wave. From the beginning, the band's music was perfectly aligned with continental trends - integrating the attitude of early post-punk with certain types of electronic music that had timidly begun popping up on the club circuit, and an aesthetic that was a cross between late romanticism and decadentism. Inimitable bands like Neon breathed new life into even the most disagreeable and angular rock and roll, flirting with war-like dance music, and creating musical scenarios that were unheard of up until that point, placing them in harmony with some of the most talked-about British and German bands of the time. After a string of 12"s (five altogether) and a 7", the band finally released their first LP, Rituals (originally released for the KinderGarten label and distributed by the major label, Polygram). This crucial album, which unquestionably represented the band's creative peak, is being re-released by Spittle not merely for the sake of the album itself, but also as part of a wider campaign to document the Italian new wave scene. The eight tracks that make up this reissue represent one of the most original possible journeys into the Italian underground. Obsessively rhythmic, like a pagan ritual, with the vagueness and asperity of primordial rock and roll and an inkling of late seventies/early eighties electronica; a cultured dance, officiously contaminated by the sound of guitars that lead on their journey - if for no other reason than the act of faith performed for guru Jimi Hendrix in their cover of "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp". This "return to the scene of the crime" is essential in the rediscovery of one of the most sober and adventurous breeds of Italian rock.

ARRAU, CLAUDIO Ravel, Liszt, Chopin/Liszt LP
The Chilean pianist, Claudio Arrau, known for his interpretations of a vast repertoire spanning the baroque to 20th-century composers, in an exclusive 1963 recital that contains Maurice Ravel, Franz Liszt and Fryderyk Chopin. With Liszt, Arrau undoubtedly deserved to be mentioned among the big ones, those who make history, even if his following development would lead him to retrench and to control the magniloquence which he had temporarily embraced to get rid of "Canovism". For this very reason, this 1963 recital is unique and the evidence of a very special moment in the development of one of our greatest contemporary artists.

QUARTETTO ITALIANO Mozart - Dvorak LP
The Italian instrumental group that quickly gained international fame, Quartetto Italiano, were formed in a period of national isolation: the campaign to colonize Ethiopia, the alliance with Germany, and then the war, had limited the presence of international ensembles in Italy, and had at first made difficult, and then blocked, foreign travel by young musicians. Quartetto Italiano, the string quartet founded by Paolo Borciani in Reggio Emilia in 1945, are particularly noted for their activities and for their historic performances. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonín Dvo?ák are featured in this 1968 recital.

DISTANCE Dynamis 2LP
Double LP version. Electronic music producer and DJ Greg Sanders, AKA Distance, presents his third album Dynamis. Alongside recording Dynamis over the past four years, Distance has been writing and producing for other artists which veered him away from his 140bpm roots. The productions of A$AP Ferg, Drake, Schoolboy Q and earlier Arca and FKA Twigs were a big influence, alongside the soundtracks of Hans Zimmer and Cliff Martinez. "I get inspiration from everywhere and deliberately try to ignore what is happening in the scene I'm most involved in. Dynamis is influenced a lot by film scores. I have geeked out massively to create great dynamics in all of the tracks, sounds are heavily automated and processed to really give the music life." Even the structure of the tracks ditches the typical DJ friendly layouts and is programmed in an order that best helps to deliver the story. As producer, DJ and label owner of Chestplate Records, Distance has been instigating change in music since emerging in 2003. His first two albums My Demons (2007) and Repercussions (2008) were released through Planet Mu. "I feel very privileged to have released two albums on Planet Mu and they are still referenced by many as key albums in dubstep's history. Tectonic has been releasing my music for almost a decade, so it felt right for me to produce an album for the label. Pinch is a good friend and one of the few people whose opinion I trust." Dynamis is the first Distance album to feature vocalists; helping to portray emotions, tell a story and aid the overall narrative of the album. "When recording 'Badman' with Killa P I got him to stand as far away from the mic as possible and shout the lyric across the studio, as though he was shouting at someone across the street. We were cracking up at the time. I then used these recordings to create multiple layers and textures to his vocals. This gave the impression of there being a huge crowd of people chanting the chorus. Beezy was also a great artist to work with. We were done recording in about 20 minutes, he's so professional and knows exactly how to deliver the vocals the way I need them."

PHARCYDE, THE Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde 2LP
Repressed. "Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde is the debut album from The Pharcyde. Released in late 1992, the album was hailed by critics and rap fans alike. Produced entirely by J-Swift with easily some of the tightest and most inventive beats of the era, Bizarre Ride features only one guest appearance, provided by little known Los Angeles rapper Buckwheat (who would become known as 'Bucwheed' from The Wascals). Released during the dominant Gangsta Rap era of the West Coast, the music was described as 'refreshing' due to its playful, light-hearted humor and lush, jazzy production. Along with albums like To Whom it May Concern... by Freestyle Fellowship, and I Wish My Brother George Was Here by Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Bizarre Ride helped establish a new alternative scene on the West Coast followed by artists such as Hieroglyphics, The Coup and Jurassic 5. The album was certified gold in 1996, and its stature has only grown since with the release constantly appearing on Best Of lists such as the 100 Best Rap albums by The Source, Top 100 Favorite Records of The 90s by Pitchfork and Rolling Stone's Top 25 Hip Hop Albums as listed by Chris Rock."

DIXON, TERRENCE From The Far Future 2LP +7"
Essential repress of Terrence Dixon's debut album and first release on Tresor, originally released in 2000. Essentially variations on a concept, From the Far Future is delightfully warm with dreamlike excursions through techno and house-based structures. Dixon says, "From The Far Future is all about respecting those who came before me, respecting the art of pure techno, taking bits and pieces of what's old and making it new once again." Past, present and future are interwoven within eleven tracks, all compositionally unified but each able to stand alone when heard individually. The 50-minute journey takes is smooth and organic phrases; specifically designed to be flexible; understood in club settings and at home. Alternating rhythms throb to the forefront while floated in echoey synthesizer washes. Subtle traces of some of most ingenious profiles in the history of electronic music are hinted at, including Kraftwerk, Derrick May, and Juan Atkins, bathing the listener in sensual nostalgia. From The Far Future embodies a specific and vital time of Detroit's techno production, going hand in hand with Juan Atkins's work as Infiniti, Terrence Dixon signed this album with a masterful hand. This edition comes with a bonus 7" vinyl featuring two previously uncut tracks: "What Up" and "Shuffle All Circuits".

OVAL Popp LP
LP version. White vinyl. Includes large, fold-out poster (60 x 60 cm) and download code. Oval's album Popp started as a concept album. It was neither meant as a pop record nor as "the Markus Popp signature album". At first, Popp was all about playing around. And about changing the musical outlook from the earlier hyper-detailed, improvisational Oval style to straight-up sequencing, old-school glitch tricks and beat-making. Popp explains, "Working on these new 'club tracks' was like going from cucina povera (my 1990s student-budget glitch style) and hi-tech fusion cuisine (post-2010) to feeling like a vegan who just stumbled into a barbecue seminar." Popp is a relentless, euphoric love letter to a musical utopia: kaleidoscopic and soulful, optimistic and grandiose. No matter if you choose to trace the many exhilarating, meandering melodies ("RE", "ID"), or if you prefer to dance to the housy information overload of "AI" and "LO", Popp is simply a joy to listen to. The newly introduced, intricate "fantasy vocals" are another new through line in Oval's music: weaving a blissful, sensual, "post-R&B"-narrative beyond words ("KU", "LO", "VE"). Ghosts of vintage Oval glitch stylings ("FU", "MY", "MO") are met with swooning strings, dreamy bells, 1990s rave stabs, angular bass lines and polyrhythmic beats. The atmosphere can even border on the solemn ("SA"), cinematic ("CA") or even hymn-like ("VE") before dissolving into these unstoppable, multi-layered loop-scapes. Popp explains further, "However complex and insanely technical my tracks may ever be getting, I will always make sure they sound organic, as if they're running on nothing but sheer imagination." Popp is released on Uovooo, a new label run by Markus Popp. Markus Popp's early, now legendary album releases sent shockwaves through the "electronica" landscape in the late 1990's - introducing a unique, innovative digital sound and production aesthetic. With an undeniable instinct for the pleasantly irritating, the drastic and the dreamy, Popp pioneered "glitch" and "clicks & cuts", inspiring and provoking an entire generation of musicians to this day. After a long hiatus, Oval returned in 2010, changing the game all over again with a new, groundbreaking "hyperreal" style, blurring the lines between the electronic auteur and (virtual) "band music". The distinctive, organic appeal of Oval tracks, remixes and albums have brought along several watershed moments for the entire genre.

NON-OPERATIONAL PEOPLE Organic Transmission 12"
Vakant presents a very special release from an unknown group of creative entities. Three cuts of tribal space techno weaponry aimed at the dancefloor. Vakant have received a message from entities lost in between the stars, in the vacuum of interstellar space. The transmission was encrypted in an ancient code translated here into frequencies understandable to earthlings. A psychic telegram has been sent, activating the body and the mind, divided into aggregations of codes that form three tracks of straight, in-your-face, high-octane fueled, acidic tribal techno, riding on solid bass lines, trippy synths, shiny percussions and abstract ambiences.
