It was reported on his blog today that Robert Anton Wilson died early Thursday morning, less than one week before his 75th birthday. He was also a major influence on a number of classic Brainwashed acts including Coil, Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire and Greater Than One.

The author, philosopher, futurist, conceptualist, psychedelic stand-up comedian and conspiracy theorist was known for his numerous books, including the Illuminatus and Cosmic Trigger trilogies.  RAW was the American director of the Committee for Surrealist Investigation of Claims of the Normal, as well as a Discordian Pope.

Ironically he posted on his blog two days prior that his declining medical condition would give him between two days to two months to live.
