V/VM - less of what you want, more of what you need

When V/Vm Test closed its doors on New Years Eve two thousand and eight a few tears were shed and many glasses were raised.

Over the time of its existence many things were achieved, chances were blown, mistakes were made and suprises occurred. The bad and the good times treated the same way. Stoically battling on time and time again to face another day.

Each new release was always a victory for attitude, sometimes at the expense of style, content and substance.

Perennially an outsider, not part of the nice little established cliques, exisiting by its own rules whilst breaking everyone elses. Awkward, irregular.

The best way, the only way it knew. Burning bridges as it went along.

In sickness and in health the vow was made.
It must go on, it has to go on, it cannot stop.

Occasionally something resonated and the press followed adding it's own hype to the tripe.

Don't forget too that V/Vm played around the World bringing its own brand of chaos to the stages across the continents.

Laws were constantly broken in terms of production and manufacture. Spearheading scenes, showing the way for little credit as others followed that lead and basked in their glory and money.

Now it's two thousand and nine and history always favours the winners.

Here soon for your pleasure/displeasure is a collection of everything that was and will be again.

Luxuriously pressed and spread across a limited edition seven compact-disc box-set retrospective
of the work of V/Vm. Spanning inclusively the
years of its activity from 1996-2008.

Featuring the best of the worst of the worst of the best that V/Vm had to offer over the years. Including audio from Chart Runners, the Fat Cat 12", Up-Link-Data Transmissions, 0161, Sick Love, Stigma, The 365 project, the infamous Pig 7" and many more exclusive and out of print 7" and 12" singles and remixes which have been difficult to find.

Accompanying this release will be an extensive book/booklet with lots of press, quotes and tales from these years and regarding all of this activity.

This release will be available towards the end of 2009, so you can celebrate once more the absurdty of a label surviving so long with no budget, having never advertised and also a pioneer in terms of free online distribution of audio. V/Vm was giving away MP3s back in 1997 to support its second release.

The audio moves from electronic to noise, from bootleg to ambient, from dysfucntional to melodic.

It was of course always about the attitude, solely the attitude.

Remember V/Vm is only sleeping, be sure to keep an eye on that particular region of sky for activity.
