Phi-Phenomena was a festival created by Kyle Lapidus and Matt Moses in New York in
1996, to commemorate NYC appearances by WRONG as well as Cardiff’s Foe Toe.
The concept is to have 10 bands play in one hour, each giving 5 minute sets with
1 minute intermissions. Subsequent fests were held in Boston (1997), New York again (1998),
Minneapolis (1999), Los Angeles (2000) and Miami (2001). In late 2001, Rat Bastard
took the concept on the road, stuffing 10 noise acts into an RV and doing the Phi Tour.
This compilation CD was released to commemorate that endeavor, and features various acts
who have appeared at all six festivals as well as the tour.
