Praise the Lard! Jello Biafra (ex-Dead Kennedys) and team Ministry hook up yet again for more fun. This time around they drag us back, kicking and screaming, to the god awful days of classic rockers and ballads. The title track accurately and amusingly mocks the shite clogging radio air waves in the mid 70s. Jello makes fun of 70's rock listeners and bands, 70's nostalgia and the general sad state of music then and now. The band deftly work through all the clichés: the country rock riff, the big pumping bass line, the overblown solo, the cheesy ballad bridge, the 'ugh!' on the 1 beat and the end that refuses to end. The sing-a-long chorus of "well c'mawn well c'mawn 70's rock must die!" makes this an instant Lard classic! The next 2 songs are in the metal-punk vein, obviously leftovers/outtakes from "Pure Chewing Satisfaction". They're good but not as much fun as the title track. As usual per Lard product, the cd comes with a five panel double sided insert filled with bizarre and amusing newspaper excerpts and the song lyrics. Hours of fun! Don't forget to visit the Alternative Tentacles store for all your Lard accessory necessities, such as official "70's Rock Must Die" buttons, bumper stickers and posters! Sorry, the Lard Pinto has already been auctioned off ...
