Test Dept "The Drifter" (5:28)Overall impression: excellent! This is the 3rd installment of the Drug Test serics of compilations from Invisible, and in my opinion, the best. One was a 2 disc live set, Two was a 2 disc remix set and Three just brings you up to speed on the very latest Invisible goodies. This one really abides by the Invisible logo: "Independence and Strength Through Diversification". There's a little bit of everything here: gaisha tinged rapidfire drum n' bass of "Bosh", female vocal fronted big bass guitar rock of "What I Want", minimal soundscape of "Nord Hasp", sporadic text and noise sample blast of "Sprechmaschine", dark and eerie soundscapes and a.t.g. thumpings of "Figure Q-75", furious electro rhythm of "Emprov Aceed Garbosh", cinematic drum 'n bass of "Circumference", big drum and low assault of "Burundi", sample manic funk of "Stick Insect", minimal drone techno of "Play With Sampler", slow funk drum 'n bass of "Beat 2 Mix", dubby drum 'n bass remix of "Life is Just a Game" and last but most certainly not least, slo-mo low bass and percussive drive of "The Drifter". Whoever's responsible for the track selection did a damn fine job ... they easily picked most of the best tracks from the artists' respective albums. There's also 4 tracks that are currently exclusive to this comp ("What I Want", "Emprov Aceed Garbosh", "Stick Insect" (Monitor Mix) and "The Drifter"). Killer soccer theme artwork for the packaging with tidbits of band info inside. Highly recommended, a great looking, sounding and cheap (usually less than $10) comp that should please just about everyone.
