17 previously unreleased live tracks by The Clash ... are you kidding me? Wow. This rocks. This is certain proof that The Clash were indeed one of the best live bands ever and actually lived up to the "only band that matters" claim. They were one of those bands that almost had too much talent for one band. Though this disc is made to sound as if it's all from 1 set it actually seamlessly meshes together songs culled from a number of shows spanning the golden 1978 - 1982 period. The sound is phenomenal courtesy of Bill Price's mixing and The Clash, well ... they're *The Clash*. They sound perfect. The track listing is packed with favorites all given an extra 'oomph' by the live performance and touch on a bit of everything The Clash were masters of: pop, rockabilly, punk, rock, ska, dub/reggae, etc. all with strong socio-political messages. Flawlessly solid from start to finish and a great way to remember them by. The 16 page insert includes band and memorabilia photos and reminiscing by the fans who were lucky enough to be there. "From Here to Eternity Live" is one of my favorite new releases of 1999 and has rapidly become one of my all time favorite live albums, period. There's nothing left for me to say. Buy this. Other recent Clash and related treats: Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros "Yalla Yalla" and "Rock Art and the X-Ray Style" and the new digitally re-mastered (also by Bill Price), original artwork restored re-releases of the bulk of The Clash back catalog. They all sound and look great too. It was a long wait for all this stuff, but man was it worth it ...
