L'udito (2:18)Dead Voices on Air is Mark Spybey with Zev Asher (track 5) and cEvin Key (track 9).
Overall impression: excellent. This album is comprised of recordings in Vancouver between March of '93 and August of '94. This is DVOA's first release on the eclectic Invisible label, and may possibly be one of the best. The music is the product of the usual Spybey sound experimentations: horns, loops, voices, some percussion, etc sent through a wall of delay and reverb. This album only has 2 or 3 songs with vocals though. As usual, to my ears at least, the sound never becomes too dense or cacophonous ... it maintains a certain level of sublte change and listenability throughout. The Key and Zev contributions aren't particularly noticeable, so don't buy it just for that ... buy it because it sounds great. The artwork is probably my least favorite of his releases, but still interesting. Yet another great disc from Spybey ...
