Overall impression: excellent. This is the first compilation from the Subconscious collective. This disc compiles unreleased tracks (except the first 2 tracks, previously released on a 12" single in 1993) involving cEvin Key / Dwayne R. Goettel and friends / collaborators. Several of the tracks range from the late 80's to the early 90's (Aduck, DT, SP), the rest show the future of the label (Download, Plateau, The Tear Garden, Kone). Excellent quality tracks, some even better than respective album tracks. Quite a range in sound too: from the chaos of "Melt" and "Zonk Lift" to the mellow techno of "Grasshopper" to the chaotic techno of "Power" (the Aduck tracks are many years before their time), "Touched" and "Beflepia" to the beatless sound washes of "Glae Bastards" to the psychedelic progressive rock-like sounds of "Georgie the Parasite" and "Message 3". An excellent introduction to the wonderful work of Key and friends.
