Overall impression: shite. Why did I buy this? What was I thinking? What the hell is wrong with me? It seems that Love and Rockets (or Bauhaus, or whatever name they're under this week) have decided to become a "cutting edge electronica" band, again. "Resurrection Hex" is Crystal Method with Daniel Ash saying "resurrection" and "deeper down" every now and then. The last minute or so of the song sounds like it might become a promising track ... but then it's over. I swear I hear a sample of the guitar from Bauhaus "Stigmata Martyr" in there somewhere, which I find unnecessary and insulting. The rest of the remixes are boring, generic, run of the mill MTV techno dance floor fodder. The KMFDM mix is the best, but even they can't salvage this song ("you can't polish a turd"). "Lift" is about the same, another boring dance track. Judging from this single, the new Love and Rockets album, "Lift" (due out in fall) will probably be electronic based. If you want to do electronica, fine. Just do something interesting ...
