Notes
Jennifer's style was as unique and unconventional as she was. Her spelling was her own, as was her punctuation. We have faithfully reproduced in this printed edition exactly how Jennifer wrote her book - June-Alison, Jennifer and we, didn't wish to edit Jennifer's work into a conventional version of her text which didn't represent her.
We have silently corrected only those obvious misspellings which have resulted from Jennifer accidentally hitting the adjacent typewriter key to the one intended. In those few cases where we wondered whether a spelling accuratley reflected Jennifer's idiosyncratic vision of that word, we have checked the typescript to see how she wrote it elsewhere. Sometimes Jennifer spells the same word in alternative ways throughout the noveland indeed in her many other writings; again we have striven to remain true to Jennifer's original text.
We discussed our editorial thoughts extensively, at the very start of this project, with June-Alison Gibbons, who also asked Jennifer - with whom June-Alison is in constant contact - for her opinions. Both Jennifer and June-Alison confirmed their absolute agreement with this, and our, approach.
Jennifer's typescript featured two possible endings, both of which are included in the present text. Each ending runs from the final line of the main text, "When truly I knew that none but one managed to survive."

Acknowledgements
Ania and David, Jamie, and Mark would like to thank Jennifer and June-Alison for their kind permission to publish Discomania. The typescript and holograph pages of Discomania, and the photographs of Jennifer Gibbons, are in the PolkAnok Collection of Ania Goszczyńska and David Tibet courtesy of the generosity of June-Alison and Jennifer Gibbons.
Ania, David, Jennifer and June-Alison would like to thank Bea Turner for her beautiful work in transcribing Jennifer's complex and exquisitely unpredictable typescript - a very remarkable feat!
Ania, David, Jamie, Mark, Jennifer, and June-Alison also thank greatly Richard Bancroft for his proofing and Hiba Shahtoot for applying them.
Our thanks to Fraser Carr Miles of Bracken Books for scanning the holographs and typescript, and to Ossian Brown and Julian Kalinowski for their great help on this project.
Ania and David would like to thanks Jamie, Mark, and Strange Attractor deeply for their support and friendship - it's a delight to work with you. This book is a collaboration between Strange Attractor and Cashen's Gap.
