ROLLINS BAND Life Time LP
2025 restock; This pressing is on Metallic Gold vinyl. "Originally released in 1987, Life Time is the full-length debut by Rollins Band. This reissue -- released on Rollins' 2.13.61 label -- has been remastered for vinyl by TJ Lipple and includes updated artwork by Jason Farrell. The record contains a complimentary digital download coupon for the nine original album songs plus five tracks recorded live in Kortrijk, Belgium on October 16, 1987. Henry Rollins on Life Time: 'Life Time is the first studio record by the Rollins Band. We did our first practice on 04-07-87 and went out on a long tour of America and Europe. On the road we wrote songs and put them into the set. By late October we finished the shows in London, UK. We went up to Leeds where Chris had a place to live and booked studio time at the same place that he and I did the Hot Animal Machine recordings a year before. I had no producer for this record and feared that since everyone in the band had strong opinions on how it all should be done that if we tried to do it ourselves we would do more harm than good. I called Ian MacKaye and asked for help. He got on a plane and came right out. That's Ian. We got straight to work as we had little time or money. All twelve songs were cut and mixed in a few days. We would do a take and Ian would tell us that it was good and we were moving on. When someone would say that they wanted to do it over again, he listened patiently and then asked again which song we wanted to do next. We got it all done and dragged it back to America for about 3,200 dollars. My, how things have changed. The album cover was drawn on the back of a diner place mat by Stephen Myers as a gift for my then roommate, Laura. Only the offset reproduction of the piece remains as the original went with her when she gave up her room. She shot herself a few years ago. Special thanks to Ian for coming to the rescue on such short notice. Thanks to you for checking this out." -- Henry

TURNER, SIMON FISHER Under The Arches LP
Where to begin with a figure like Simon Fisher Turner? From teenage stage and screen star to illustrious recording artist for Creation and Mute and score composer of Caravaggio, Blue, and The Epic of Everest -- via a stint with The The and collaborations with Derek Jarman, David Lynch, and Tilda Swinton -- Turner embodies a distinctly British sensibility and boundless curiosity for sound. For A Colourful Storm, discovering Deux Filles, his mysterious project with Colin Lloyd-Tucker that has since been reissued by Dark Entries, was a significant moment in shaping their identity. In August 2023, A Colourful Storm presented Simon Fisher Turner and Time is Away at Spanners, London. Performed at the tail end of Blue Now, a series of events celebrating Derek Jarman's last feature film, Blue, the recording reveals a lifetime of significant events and influences. Terre Thaemlitz's remix of Turner's Shishapangma is reworked and appears on vinyl only. Jarman is privately recorded reading "White Lies," Bertrand Russell is sampled, and Turner records his brother practicing the Great Rissington organ for their father's funeral.

INTERSYSTEMS Free Psychedelic Poster Inside LP
2025 warehouse find, last copies. Alga Marghen presents a reissue of Intersystems' Free Psychedelic Poster Inside (1968). Intersystems occupied a difficult-to-reach critical nook between the many tropes that had established to frame the various artistic trends of 1960s. Announcing itself with a quivering beam of fluorescent sound, the beginning of Intersystems' Free Psychedelic Poster Inside feels as though it's slowly piercing right through your frontal lobe. Blake Parker's poetry is a dark glimpse into mundane domesticity and the suburbs. One can't help but sense that they're being brainwashed: the slow metamorphosis of sound is juxtaposed against Parker's even-tempered yet electronically-tampered-with speech. There are occasional hints at the twitchy energy of Peachy (NMN 093-2LP), but everything is braced by a spine of lean, cool tones, making Free Psychedelic Poster Inside a far more stark outing than either of its predecessors. Yet the sense of impending danger and general volatility found in the rest of the catalogue is still present - if not amplified. In contrast to Peachy, the shapes the music cuts are smooth rather than jagged, but one is never sure just when Parker's strangely uninflected voice will emerge from the blinding aggregates of pure color. While these clusters of glowing sustain assert an aggressive mesmerism, they serve as a primer for the ears, ominously readying them for virtually anything to happen. When something does, there's often a sense mild alarm on the listener's part even when said change comes in the form of a reprieve from the relentless swarms of high frequency - cascades of synthetic giggles, sliding slow elastic melodies, vigorous strobing modulations and bubbling passages of electronic fizz. Musician and insatiable collector Julian Cope, on his exhaustive online chronicle of all things rare and psychedelic, "Head Heritage" calls Intersystems third LP "one of the densest, most oblique collections of sound ever". Re-mastered by John Mills-Cockell. Mastered for cutting by Giuseppe Ielasi. Comes with original LP graphics as well as a new insert. Edition of 300.

PRIMITIVE ART GROUP Primitive Art Group 1981-1986 2LP
Restocked. "Primitive Art Group 1981-1986 is presented on gatefold 2LP, and is a combination of the group's only two albums, consisting of one LP of Five Tread cuts plus 'Cecil Likes to Dance' a never-before-released live recording from Thistle Hall (1984) and the full 1985 LP Future Jaw-Clap. This material that has been unavailable since mid-1980s. It is well documented that in the early '80s, New Zealand was awash with adventurous new music. Though sharing the kind of happy isolation and the DIY ethic with contemporaneous outfits like Flying Nun, South Indies, and Xpressway, one band cut a decidedly different path. The Primitive Art Group, formed in Wellington, devoted itself to collective improvisation coming out of a jazz tradition. With the line-up of Anthony Donaldson (drums), David Donaldson (bass), Neil Duncan (saxes), Stuart Porter (saxes), David Watson (guitar), and originally with Pam Grey (on cello), the group's relatively brief existence left a lasting impression on the New Zealand's free music scene. Musically, there was no precedent in New Zealand for their combination of noise, collective playing and compositional freedom. The band's five-year lifespan was non-stop activity: rehearsing, touring, the creation of Braille Records (their own record label which released ten LPs), dance and theater work, appearances at music festivals, and hosting two hugely influential national festivals of improvisation at Thistle Hall, Wellington. In 1984, Primitive Art Group spent a week making their first recording, an ambitious double LP, Five Tread, which had only a single pressing and sold-out locally. One year later they were back in the studio making their second album, Future Jaw-Clap. This outing contained tighter pieces, as the band widened its repertoire with nods to broader influences and antecedents. In 1986, The Primitive Art Group gave their last concert at the Wellington Town Hall, just a half mile from Rawa House and the legendary Thistle Hall where their first shows had taken place. The band's Braille Records' recordings have never been released outside of New Zealand, nor have ever been available digitally. The group's brief tenure has continued to inspire new generations of improvisers, but nothing has ever quite matched the visceral blast of the Primitive Art Group's arrival on the scene. Every member of the group has carried on doing creative work at the highest levels: scoring films, making art, mentoring, organizing, touring and always playing."

DAM SWINDLE Come Back 12"
2025 repress. Dutch duo Dam Swindle appear on Aus Music's 200 series and two new house originals come with remixes from K-Lone and Chloe Robinson & DJ ADHD. Dam Swindle have been helping to define the underground house sound for a decade, not least with their Heist label. The pair deal in timeless, fad-free sounds that are rich with dance floor dynamics and hint at a love of everything from disco to tech and plenty in between. They are notorious crate diggers who have played the world's most cultured clubs, their recent track "Allright (Just A Tribute)" on Phonica's 20-year celebration has received widespread love by DJ's this summer on the festival circuit and now they offer up two more of their studio gems for their third full release on Aus. This EP is the second in a series of four releases from different artists to mark the 200th outing of Will Saul's influential Aus Music. It is an era-defining label that has platformed some of the scene's brightest stars way before they broke out. Since launching in 2006, the label has remained dedicated to releasing club-ready music with a cultured edge from deep and melodic house to the earliest bass- driven post-dubstep fusions. This EP kicks off with "The Last Time", a blissed-out deep house sound with impassioned vocal cries tugging at the heartstrings. Mellifluous synth daubs percolate through the mix to a captivating, feel- good effect. Next is "Come Back", an infectious house bubbler with gloopy synths and something of a garage shuffle in the kicks. It's fresh and packed with neon color that brims with soul. New school house and garage tastemaker and core Aus Music family member K-Lone steps up with a remix hot on the heels of his two-part EP series on the label. His version of "The Last Time" is typically deft as soft-focus chords swirl around prickly garage house beats. The distant vocal, the cavernous bass and the wistful feel all make it another classic. Last but not least, Chloe? Robinson & DJ ADHD are frequent collaborators on labels like Fabric Originals as well as Chloe?'s Pretty Weird imprint where they serve up potent, bass-heavy sounds. Their version of "Come Back" is expertly stripped back. It teases and pleases with a blend of filthy low-end oscillations, slinky drums and tooting chord hooks that are effortlessly fun and effective.

TUMBLACK Tumblack LP
A massive speaker-smashing release, decades overdue. It's been bootlegged but finally Be With presents the first ever officially licensed reissue of this truly special Afro-disco-not-disco LP from 1979. A favorite of Harvey, Antal, Young Marco and every great DJ to ever play deep records ever, basically. Gem after gem of relentless, irresistibly funky gold, it's an incredibly revelatory album with endlessly complex drum patterns and basslines to dive into, throughout. Truly, this is uniquely FIRE music, unlike anything else you've ever heard, based on Gwo ka music from the gorgeous islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. A thrilling synthesis of primal, hypnotic drums -- the most tribal of percussive elements high in the mix throughout - with the loping synth pyrotechnics of, amongst a whole host of other greats, Wally Badarou and bass power of disco funk don Sauveur Mallia (Arpadys, Spatial & Co.). Originally released on the seminal French label Barclay, you'd be hard pressed to even find an original copy in nice condition anywhere, let alone for a reasonable price, so it's high time an officially licensed, remastered reissue came around. It's just the latest in a long line of Be With reissues where the music sounds like the drop-dead dazzling cover. This here is a true drum attack. Tumblack was a short-lived project, produced and arranged by electronic wizard Yves Hayat and it can certainly be regarded as one of the first examples of Zouk, mixing powerful disco-funk arrangements with Gwo ka, traditional music from Guadeloupe. Whilst the first side is credited to the exceptional Tumblack band, the flip is given over to Tumblack & Friends. They were the absolute cream of the French scene such as Sauveur Mallia, Wally Badarou, Marc Chantereau on percussion, Slim Pezin on guitar and Jean-Paul Batailley and Pierre Alain-Dahan handling drum duties. Tumblack really is a gorgeous late-'70s disco-not-disco essential. The audio for Tumblack has been carefully remastered by Be With regular Simon Francis, ensuring it sounds better than ever. Cicely Balston's expert skills have made sure nothing is lost in the cut whilst the records have been pressed to the highest possible standard at Record Industry in Holland. The cover of Tumblack is so iconic and Be With sought special permission from original artist H?l?ne Majera to recreate this at Be With HQ. It absolutely zings off the print and serves as the perfect finishing touch to this long overdue re-issue.

MAITRA, KAMALESH Raag Kirwani on Tabla Tarang LP
Restocked. Carrying on a string of stunning archival releases from major figures of Indian classical tradition (including releases from members of the Dagar family and Amelia Cuni), Black Truffle presents an unheard recording from tabla master Kamalesh Maitra (1924-2005). For over fifty years, Maitra devoted himself to the rare tabla tarang, a set of between ten and sixteen hand drums tuned to the notes of the raga to be performed. While the tabla tarang has its origins in the late 19th century, Maitra was the first to recognize its potential as a solo concert instrument, using the set of tuned drums to perform full-length raags. Seated behind a semi-circular array of drums, Maitra produced stunning waves of melodic improvisation enlivened with the rhythmic invention of a master percussionist. Across his career, Maitra performed in ensembles led by Ravi Shankar, collaborated with George Harrison, and led his own East-West fusion group, the Ragatala Ensemble. However, it is in the solo setting that his remarkable artistry and the otherworldly timbral qualities of the tabla tarang are most strikingly on display. Recorded during the same 1985 Berlin sessions that produced Maitra's self-released solo LP Tabla Tarang: Ragas on Drums, on Raag Kirwani on Tabla Tarang listeners are treated to Maitra stretching out for over forty minutes on the late-night Raag Kirwani, accompanied by Laura Patchen on tabla and Mila Morgenstern and Marina Kitsos on tanpura. The performance begins with the traditional free-floating exposition section, where Maitra's spacious melodic improvisation at times almost resembles a plucked string instrument (like the sarod, which Maitra also played). For the listener unaccustomed to the tabla tarang, the sound of these microtonally inflected melodic patterns played on drums has a magic quality. As Maitra begins to imply the rhythmic cycles more strongly, Patchen joins on tabla, beginning half an hour of rhythmic-melodic exploration, where virtuosity sits side by side with delicacy and meditative attention. Accompanied by beautiful archival images and extensive liner notes from Laura Patchen, for many listeners Raag Kirwani on Tabla Tarang will be the perfect introduction to the magical world of Kamalesh Maitra, released to coincide with the hundredth anniversary of the master musician's birth.

ROEDELIUS Selbstportrait LP
2025 restock. LP version on 180 gram vinyl. This is the third solo album by German keyboardist Hans-Joachim Roedelius, originally released in 1979 on Sky Records. Alongside his ongoing work with Cluster and Harmonia, Roedelius amassed an almost incalculable number of musical notations during his time in the idyllic Weser Uplands. Fleeting sketches, spontaneous improvisations, implied miniatures, rough compositions -- Roedelius recorded virtually every idea he came up with outside the studio sessions on his Revox A77 reel to reel; with the basic intention of capturing his moments of inspiration, he simply let the tape run as he played around on the Farfisa organ. Sound quality was not his prime concern, as he was not as yet entertaining any notion of releasing the results. As Roedelius recalls, costly tape spools were at a premium, so he recorded over older tapes in mono, at a less than ideal speed. Substandard, technically speaking (or listening), but as a self portrait, nothing short of a masterpiece. It would be inappropriate to measure this album by the hi-fidelity yardstick; see it as something closer to an intimate confession, an unguarded communiqu? from one person to another. Bordering on naivety and free of conceit, Roedelius introduces us to his world through these chiffonesque ?tudes. There may be little variation in the Farfisa sound, but this is soon forgotten when Roedelius invites us to listen, to enter the experience. No expensive technology, no producer, no collaborators. This is unfiltered personality, the real Roedelius. Musically, Selbstportrait is characterized by a combination of l?ndler, minimalism and harmonic simplicity. The Weser Uplands, where Roedelius recorded his music, are certainly no Arcadia and the village of Forst is anything but Atlantis, but perhaps it could become the Graceland of German electronic music. Printed innersleeve with original liner notes and new notes by Asmus Tietchens.

ROEDELIUS Selbstportrait - Vol. II LP
2025 restock. 180 gram LP version. This is the fourth solo album by German keyboardist Hans-Joachim Roedelius, originally released in 1980 on Sky Records. With Selbstportrait, Roedelius gave unequivocal confirmation that he no longer was treading the hitherto common paths of electronic music. Selbstportrait - Vol. II corroborated the findings: for Roedelius, electronics would no longer be a means of creating abstract, noise-like music in the future, nor of generating utopian, mechanical rhythmic structures. His own utopia was quite a different place, more in keeping with his own personality and view of the world. Hence both self-portraits, in particular Selbstportrait - Vol. II, are programmatic. Uniquely among musicians of the German electronic scene at the time, Roedelius succeeded in blending European and extra-European musical styles quite intuitively, developing his own language of music, neither epigonic nor weighed down by stereotype, as often occurred in the emerging world music genre of the period. There is a fascinating simplicity to the music of Roedelius: his vision does not reside in cloud-cuckoo-land. His utopia is founded in reason, his vision sustained by a simple base: not only did he ignore musical traditions, he also sought to create something new out of them. He succeeded where many of his contemporaries failed, going to ground as they attempted to bridge the postmodern gap. Not Roedelius. Roedelius' music is littered with stumbling blocks. The listener may not necessarily lose his footing, but will not exactly find himself sitting comfortably as he listens. With this album, Roedelius has drawn a clearly delineated picture of himself. Few musicians can say the same, few even harbor such aspirations. Transcending styles, hypes and modernisms, Selbstportrait - Vol. II is electronically-sourced music, yet sounds anything but technical, dismantling the misconception that electronic music has to sound cold and distant. Selbstportrait - Vol. II has never been released completely before. Printed innersleeve with original liner notes and new notes by Asmus Tietchens.

VA Krautrock Eruption: An Introduction To German Electronic Music 1970-1980 CD
Agree to disagree: A selected Krautrock discography. Krautrock, what is it anyway? A genre, a derogative term, a song by Faust, or: a welcome (and recurring) opportunity to talk about all of this. The music associated with the term in question has eagerly been canonized. From the enthusiastic and idiosyncratic ramblings of Julian Cope's "Krautrocksampler" to encyclopedic approaches like Alan and Stephen Freeman's "Crack in the Cosmic Egg", there are plenty of books to read and lists to discuss: Who's in, who isn't? The quarrels and disputes surrounding the terms "Krautrock" and "Kosmische Musik" are a testament to their enduring relevance and fascination. The book Krautrock Eruption by Wolfgang Seidel addresses some of those questions. In this book, you will find an annotated discography of fifty albums. Out of these fifty, Bureau B are presenting an even narrower selection of tracks from twelve albums on this compilation. Lists and compilation track listings inevitably see tracks missing and being left out. The list is meant to inspire repeated or further listening, to spark discussions and -- potentially -- to provoke new lists, perhaps your own! It's all part of the fun. Music is made for enjoyment in the first and for friendly debate in the second place, after all. Featuring Conrad Schnitzler, Eno Moebius Roedelius, Harald Grosskopf, Cluster, Moebius & Plank, Roedelius, Pyrolator, Riechmann, Kluster, G?nter Schickert, and Asmus Tietchens.

KERALA DUST Light, West LP
Kerala Dust presents album Light, West, out on Denature Records. After six releases and three years of extensive touring around Europe and the Americas, the Berlin-based live trio around producer and songwriter Edmund Kenny finds itself taking an ambitious, sprawling turn with Light, West. A groove-laden soundtrack for a movie never made, this record feels like the most comprehensive review of Kerala Dust's varying influences and inspirations, merged into something wholly unique. Starting with guitar-driven blues-house on "Night, Bell (Arizona)" and moving firmly into the club on "Evening Redness," the record then rides through a heady collage of bolero ("Amsterdam"), techno ("Reflected") and '60s funk-balladry ("Phoebe"). The result of a year and a half's work, the record's most surprising aspect could well be that these varying musical tones all manage to feel part of a large, inter-connected musical narrative.

NATURAL INFORMATION SOCIETY & BITCHIN BAJAS Autoimaginary LP
2025 repress. "Natural Information Society, like their partners in time Bitchin Bajas, live their days in flow motion. Rhythms come and go, instruments sound as a means to a greater end. Music is the way of their life. Their debut convergence, Automaginary, feels as natural as it does inevitable. Both groups were first heard in 2010, both emerging from solo endeavors that accessed a vastness, more room than a single player might ultimately fill -- a place then for fellow travelers! Joshua Abrams, a questing bassist and improviser by trade, with an extensive discography of solo recordings and collaborations with a wide variety of artists, formed Natural Information Society as a conduit for the live presentation of his guimbri music. Abrams had delved into the sound of the threestringed Gnawan lute on his own, intrigued by the instrument's ability to provide melodic and rhythmic direction with a minimal, hypnotic palette. Known for the drone also are Bitchin Bajas. Cooper Crain of CAVE started the Bajas to explore his fascination with vintage electronics and recording techniques. With Dan Quinlivan on keyboards as well, Bitchin Bajas' discography has explored a range of dynamic approaches, producing various proportions of atmosphere and soundtrack that move from becalmed stasis to synthetic beat-building with a prescient liquidity. Both Natural Information Society and Bitchin Bajas are in pursuit of the unconscious in their musical expression, and through their independent methods, both have ridden the wind to unseen places, using the playing as the carpet that will take them there. A multitude of influences swarm amoebically in their sounds, from the mud of ancient Afro-groove to 20th-century classical austerity, from the clatter of freedom jazz to the 4/4 of kraut and disco and fusion beyond -- and then beyond the music and into the air. Wrapped up in a screen-printed jacket from visual artist Lisa Alvarado, whose aesthetic sense is a touchstone for the vision of Natural Information Society, Automaginary is psychedelic and ambient and jazz -- yet none of it either, the whole being more than the sum of former parts. This is music of unique variance, a remarkably perfect congregation of the two tribes that are Natural Information Society & Bitchin Bajas."

"Imagine a nocturnal rendezvous between the lyrical playfulness of Serge Gainsbourg and the infectious yet smooth danceability of Daft Punk. 'Tormento' is a sexy soft disco odyssey that weaves a contemporary fantasy where dilemmas and desires -- torments of the heart and flesh -- are bathed in the sultry glow of classic erotic cinema. Recorded in Los Angeles and Paris, the song is a collaborative effort between composer and multi-instrumentalist Louis Fontaine, DJ and music supervisor Alix Brown, and lyricist and writer Margo Fortuny. This sonic tale of longing and uncertainty, ignited by the trio's shared love for 1970s sounds, cinema, and style, draws inspiration from the cinematic soundscapes of Fran?ois de Roubaix and from French and Italian chanson. 'Tormento' pairs a haunting, nostalgic melody with a late-'70s disco arrangement featuring a mix of vintage synthesizers, driving basslines, and rhythmic percussion. Alix Brown's ethereal vocals convey the electrifying thrill of an immediate, magnetic attraction. There's seduction, mystery, the poetry of a moment, the allure of transgression, indecision, and all the things that happen late at night. When faced with temptation, what do you do? Perhaps, you surrender to the sweet, intoxicating rhythm of the forbidden."

ZAVALLONE, PAOLO Paloma Supersound LP
"Four Flies sheds light on the catalogue of the enigmatic Paloma Records, a DIY record label founded in 1983 by Bolognese composer, arranger, conductor, and singer Paolo Zavallone, who, after a long career in pop music and at RAI television, decided to venture into the world of library music publishing. The 12 tracks on this compilation were composed by Zavallone, who co-produced and co-arranged them with his friend Mauro Malavasi. The Paloma Records catalogue comprises just five LPs, all released -- solely for circulation among industry professionals and not for commercial distribution -- within a two-year period. Like typical library music albums, these LPs had very simple, plain artwork that hid their creators behind a game of smoke and mirrors -- fanciful pseudonyms, names of non-existent studio bands, and even figureheads. But despite its enigmatic nature, today the label's small catalogue reveals its extraordinary potential: it's utterly iconic in the way it captures the sound of Italian music in the early '80s, and not only in the library genre. Zavallone's library music can also be regarded as a tribute to a certain Bolognese music scene, characterized by small provincial studios and, most importantly, by young, talented session musicians like Rudy Trevisi on sax and percussion, Davide Romani on bass, Lele Melotti on drums, and Paolo Gianolio on guitar (together with Malavasi, who played synths, they were basically the rhythm section of Vasco Rossi's records in 1983-1984). Like in the case of fellow Bolognese composer Enzo Minuti, this music scene offered a unique alternative to the dominance of Rome and Milan in the library music industry."

HARDSPACE H005 12"
Len Faki continues to expand the Hardspace series with a new release of personal edits crafted for use in his own DJ sets. This latest addition shows Faki's meticulous approach to reworking tracks that have shaped his sets, blending classic vibes with his signature style. On the A-side, Faki revisits Dubspeeka's "Mod 3" and "Mod 4," released in 2017. The Hardspace reworks pick up on the brooding atmosphere of the original productions and build upon the dark, cinematic vibes. Faki also considerably tweaks the energy level on both tracks, ramping up not only in speed but also adding his trademark percussive pummeling to tailor these tools for peak-time play. Flipping to the B-side, he turns his attention to Fanon Flowers' "Chicago-Detroit Part 1" and "Part 3." These cuts first appeared on Studio Sound in 2010, as part of a series that paid homage to the pioneering sounds of Chicago house and Detroit techno. Both cuts exhibit extremely raw machinist grooves with a sparse analogue jam charm. Embedding the originals' gritty textures and melodic nuances into his edits, Faki highlights their jacking qualities and infuses both tracks with a renewed sense of urgency, creating tension and release as you would expect from one of his sets.

WILLIAMS, TESFA Beyond Today EP 12"
Tesfa Williams celebrates his personal ancestry and the diversity of black electronic music with a name change on his Heist Recordings debut. First things first. T. Williams is now Tesfa Williams. And although the dot is gone after the T, by taking that away, the artist opened up a whole world of meaning, personal storytelling and recognition of his roots. Tesfa Williams is an artist with a long history in UK club music. Long before his critically acclaimed debut album in 2024 Raves of future past, he was knee-deep in the UK grime scene and throughout the years, he has built a strong reputation in UK funky, soulful house and Garage with remixes of "Latch for Disclosure" and "Sam Smith," bumping originals on Strictly Rhythm, Local Action with Julio Bashmore, and much more. On his debut for Heist, the artist digs deep into his black roots and deliver an EP that celebrates his eclectic sound with four originals full of high notes. The EP closes with "Futures," a bottom-heavy late-night burner much in the style of Dam Swindle's 2023 Heist outing "Soul's lament" or the percussive goodness of Alma Negra tracks such as "Conversation." There's a nice blend of trippy electronics and driving Rhodes hits, which makes this a track perfect for those moments you simply want to go deep, heads-down, and feel the music. With Beyond Today, Tesfa Williams has written a piece of music that pays homage to so many of the genres that have influenced him as well as to his black roots.

FRANCOIS & THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS Age Fleuve CD
Fragility, modesty, delicacy -- Fr?n?ois' voice evokes illustrious contemporaries, from Devendra Banhart to Vincent Gallo, whose vocal inflections sometimes echo behind the uniquely French timbre. Artists like Malik Djoudi with his captivating pop, in-demand jazzman Thomas de Pourquery, and British folk artist Rozi Plain all lend their talents to ?ge Fleuve. These three delightful collaborations blend seamlessly into the album's ten tracks. But the album's fluidity is also felt in the flavor of certain compositions, like the upbeat "O? m?ne la nuit," a kind of mystical inquiry into the whirlwinds of youth. Then there's "A?eul inconnu," whose apparent melancholy pairs perfectly with its elegant groove. "Adorer," the duet with Thomas de Pourquery, is an uplifting track that jumps wholeheartedly into the joy of living in the "present moment." ?ge Fleuve -- or rather, a "liquid inspiration" -- is built on a heritage of memory. And when one delves into the mystery of this heritage, the answer becomes clear: "We're here, under this part of the river, further downstream. Everything communicates, everything is in motion." In other words, an album flowing through the river of the sensory, intimate, and universal heritage.

ED/MCL, IBISAZI DESIGNERS NYABYO Mosh 12"
ED/MCL (pronounced Ed Michael) and IDN (Ibisazi Designers Nyabyo) have collaborated to create Mosh -- both the title of the EP and its proposed genre. Mosh is music to mosh to, like dance is music to dance to. Jungle breaks are slowed down to the tempo of a metalcore breakdown. Super low 808s rumble below the beat. Sampled and recorded sounds are textured to evoke heavy metal guitars. And there are rhythmic shouted phrases, for shared chanting. This EP is being released on Interference Pattern because Tyler Pope saw ED/MCL playing on the street in Williamsburg. IDN (Ibisazi Designers Nyabyo) is an artist collective based in Rwanda. Their vocals are shouted in a language of their own invention, yet they have crafted catchy vocal hooks designed for call and response. The vocals heard on Mosh were recorded with ED/MCL while they were visiting them in Kigali. The final track is a ten-minute long performance by IDN, from which ED/MCL remixed the preceding five mosh songs.

CHARLIE CHARLIE/HYPERNATURAL Remixes 12"
IFEEL088 is a split remix 12" that stitches together two albums, two projects, and a collection of kindred spirits who understand the delicate art of sonic transformation. Charlie Charlie (the Swedish duo of Chords and Bella Boo) have been long-time admirers of Mondag, ever since their ears first met the melancholic splendor of Sad Soup. When it came time to create "Save Us," they had one request: a sax solo from Kristian (of Mondag fame). A beautiful idea, but as the fates (and studio schedules) would have it, the horns never made it onto the album. Fast forward, and what began as a missed opportunity has now come full circle. Mondag, still taken with "Save Us," took matters into their own hands and offered up a remix -- a shimmering, unexpected rework of a track that already carried so much weight. Charlie Charlie obliged. And, because there's no such thing as too much of a good thing, Bella Boo herself offers a tight and nimble edit, while Gerd Janson drapes the track in an ambient mist for those more horizontally inclined. Hypernatural exists in some liminal space between waking life and dreamstate, it makes sense that its remixes should play with perspective. The trio -- Dan Whitford (Cut Copy), Mirko Vogel, and Mike Gamwell (a.k.a. Knightlife) -- crafted their album between the Swedish coast and the Scottish highlands, capturing the sublime and the surreal in equal measure. Now, it's time to hand things over to new guides. Mike Gamwell himself steps up, delivering a fresh take that bends and stretches time, while Gerd Janson follows, offering another piece for the puzzle -- one that slots seamlessly into the hazy, transportive nature of the Hypernatural sound. One record, two projects, three perspectives, and infinite interpretations.

ONO/THE GREAT LEARNING ORCHESTRA, YOKO Selected Recordings From Grapefruit 2CD
For the first time a full album with recordings based on Yoko Ono's 1964 collection of texts, event scores and drawings Grapefruit, a foundational cornerstone of what became known as conceptual art, and enveloping the orbits of Fluxus and experimental music. Performed by The Great Learning Orchestra which has during the 25 years of its existence worked with Gavin Bryars, Terry Riley, Pauline Oliveros, J.G. Thirlwell, Arnold Dreyblatt, and more. Originally self-published in 1964 in a limited edition of 500 copies under Yoko Ono's own imprint, Wunternaum Press, and later reprinted in expanded editions, the collection of over 230 texts, event scores and drawings that comprise Grapefruit has long been considered a foundational text in what became known as Conceptual Art, and envelops the orbit of Fluxus and experimental music. Though comparisons to John Cage may seem obvious, Ono's first attempts at textual composition actually pre-date her first encounter with the American composer by around a decade and have evolved free from Cage's influence. Another factor that sets these scores apart from associated forms of verbal notation from the same period is Ono's ambivalence towards the necessity, or even possibility, of their physical realization -- instead the idea being that the realization should take place in the mind of the reader. Hardly any performances have been recorded and released on disc -- so, 60 years after Grapefruit first appeared, Selected Recordings From Grapefruit is the very first full album of pieces selected from the many sections of the book. The sonic realizations presented here are of a number of different kinds, encompassing studio-based ensemble performances, but also location, environmental and field recordings (and at times combinations of these), as the scores themselves dictate, and for the most part recorded live and acoustically, such that the performances, actions, situations and environments that you hear are real. The accompanying 20-page booklet with rare performance photos and some original typewritten scores from Ono's personal archive also includes the text instructions for each piece - thus allowing the listener to make a connection between the imaginative engagement and creative activity executed by the performing members of The Great Learning Orchestra and the resulting recording. With 20 tracks and approximately 85 minutes duration, Selected Recordings From Grapefruit finally brings to ear some of the most important and influential 20th century avantgarde art.

GUSGUS Arabian Horse 2LP
2025 repress; gatefold 2LP version. Includes download code. Iceland's GusGus graces Kompakt with a second album, after their enigmatic debut for the label 24/7, which earned the trio much acclaim thanks to its conceptual rigidity and pure glamour. Conceived solely with the help of two precious Doepfer modular systems and Daniel August's all-pervasive vocals, it could easily have been characterized as GusGus' unofficial live album. For Arabian Horse, their seventh studio album, President Bongo, Biggi Veira and Daniel August set up a makeshift studio in a summer cottage in the depths of the lava field. Secluded in silence and beauty, they produced something that really showcases GusGus' versatility and stunning songwriting ability. A vast array of illustrious guest musicians and singers abound on these powerful new songs. Most prominently, this album features the long-awaited return of former band member and gifted vocalist Ur?ur "Earth" H?konard?ttir, who appears on three songs. H?gni Elisson of the band Hjaltalin lends his voice to some of the album's most memorable and deepest moments. Sam?el J?n Sam?elsson contributes the elevating, goosebump-inducing string arrangements and David Thor Jonsson contributes accordion and the banjo. Even an un-named gypsy combo leaves their mark here. Compared to GusGus' stripped-down predecessor for Kompakt, this album is much more in-your-face -- the songs brim with big gestures, enthralling hooks, pop and soul. Take the powerful schaffel anthem "Deep Inside," which makes use of big room chords, a ferocious bass line and a vocal duel, or "Within You," where strings converge with breathtaking vocals and an addictive techno bass kick. GusGus retrace their original influences, creating an album that recalls a forgotten period of early '90s dance pop (think The Beloved), classic house music and urban soul ? la Massive Attack. But make no mistake, Arabian Horse does not sound like pure retro in any way. It's deeply rooted in the sound of today, backed by one of the most state-of-the-art quality productions Kompakt has released to date. Still need a tag? Why not: Icelandic hi-tech soul.

KOLSCH 1983 2LP+CD
2025 repress. Gatefold double LP version. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl. Revered Danish producer and live performer K?lsch follows his 2013 hit album 1977 (KOMP 107CD/KOM 276LP) with 1983, again chaining up heroic techno tracks for a grandiose sonic journey to the vibrant heart of today's dancefloor. Coupling contemporary production pizazz with nostalgia-tinged soundscapes and sweeping melodies, this opus acts as both a skillfully composed portfolio of personal memories and a sublime collection of crowd-charming cuts -- a modern classic in the making from a master of his craft. Hot on the heels of Speicher 84 (KOM EX084EP, 2015), featuring club crackers "Derdiedas" and "Two Birds," 1983 is very much a travel album: "When I was a kid in 1983, we used to drive through Europe every summer on the way to the south of France", K?lsch explains. "A lot of my early music memories stem from these long travels, as we would listen to all my father's favorite records on the cassette deck. After getting a walkman, I would make up my own soundtrack for travelling, with early electro and hip-hop creeping into my life. My father of course did not like it, and it never graced the official cassette deck of the car, obviously." Informed by the symbolic quality of these slightly gauzy childhood memories, K?lsch's unique m?lange of emotional and functional elements works exceptionally well for the full-length format -- a seamless transition of musing introspection and explosive expression, where catharsis never seems far away in dance-ready techno vignettes like "Moonface," "Unterwegs," or "Pacer." From beatless opener "1983" to the filigreed piano banger "Die Anderen" or the bleep-infused synth-fest "E45," each cut operates as its own little time capsule, storing bits and pieces of recollection and then magically transforming them into epic, beat-driven soundscapes. Confronted with other producers' input (and other memories), these traits find themselves extended in the most interesting ways; "Talbot," "The Road," and "Cassiopeia" (the latter also featured on Speicher 79 (KOM EX079EP, 2014)) make excellent use of Gregor Schwellenbach's emotive orchestral flourishes, while the lyrics of "Bloodline" come to life thanks to the distinct timbre of Tomas H?ffding of WhoMadeWho fame. A powerful take on an earlier collaboration, "Papageno 30 Years Later" not only features the return of WAA Industry on vocals, but also ends the album on a wonderfully elegiac, yet hopeful note, basically turning water into wine, as we've come to expect from K?lsch.

Australian producer Luke Alessi is back on DJ Tennis' iconic Life and Death label with his latest record, the After Five EP. Picture a roaring 1920s debauched, excessive and riotous cocktail party with screaming brass moments meets 1970s funk and disco grooves that loop and tumble you into a hypnotic state while Barry White's voice guides you through the whole experience. After Five was designed to make you feel sexy, groovy and a little bit wild. A sonic journey through moody elegance and late-night allure, the release is complemented by remixes from boundary-pushing producers Pablo Bozzi and Aldonna. The title track, "After Five," released to an avalanche of praise, proving Luke Alessi's knack for crafting sophisticated beats that resonate across dancefloors. Named as Pete Tong's "Essential New Tune" on his coveted BBC Radio 1 show as well as over ten placements on Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists, and heavyweight DJ support from tastemakers like DJ Tennis, Dixon, La Fleur, Laurent Garnier, Jimi Jules, and Demi Riqu?simo, it's clear his track has struck a universal chord. Pablo Bozzi's remix follows this, putting his signature Italo flex on the title track turning it into a hedonistic and raucous party anthem. Known for her idiosyncratic sound that mirrors her deep sonic interest for the nineties and early noughties, Aldonna finds her sweet spot between house, progressive and trance with her remix of "Day Dreams of Beaches" reflecting exactly this. Already part of the Life and Death family since "Bey Beh" and "Dale Dale," Luke Alessi's music sits in its own lane, refusing to be pigeonholed into any conventional genre.

MCLAUGHLIN, JOHN Marbles 12"
"Marbles" is the legendary 1970 proto punk/dance classic from John McLaughlin's US debut album De?otion, recorded at the time in which he played on Miles Davis' Bitches Brew and taped the Record Plant session with Jimi Hendrix. "Marbles" didn't just deliver jazz rock's most danceable 4/4 beat, played by Band of Gypsies/Electric Flag drummer Buddy Miles. It is also centered with a once-in-a-generation bass line performed by Billy Rich. Larry Young's otherworldly Hammond textures predate a lot of what synthesizers were about to do much later, and the blowtorch energy emanating from John McLaughlin's cranked amp went beyond what most would had dared during the defining era of heavy rock guitar. An apex achievement at the intersection of jazz rock, guitar rock and dance music without parallel, before or since. John McLaughlin arrived in New York in 1969 to join Tony Williams' new group Lifetime which also featured Larry Young and eventually Jack Bruce (of Cream). On the second day in town, he found himself in the studio with Miles Davis, recording "In a Silent Way." His playing would also take center stage in Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson, On The Corner and several other Davis key works of his much beloved first electric era. In between a busy schedule with Lifetime and Davis, McLaughlin also recorded two solo albums in 1970, De?otion with an all-electric group and "My Goal's B?y?nd" as its acoustic counterpart. By the time he formed his group Mahavishnu Orchestra in 1972, John McLaughlin was firmly established as the most important practitioner of his instrument of his generation within and well beyond the emerging jazz rock/fusion genre, and he has continued to evolve and surprise until today. Here, a thorough remaster is supplemented by a new and throbbing techno version by Stefan Goldmann.

ASH RA TEMPEL Starring Rosi (Pearl Color Vinyl) LP
Pearl color vinyl version. Highly-anticipated 50th Anniversary Edition re-issue of Ash Ra Tempel's legendary fifth studio album Starring Rosi. Originally released in 1973, this seminal work remains a cornerstone of the Krautrock and "Kosmische" movement, blending psychedelic rock, ambient soundscapes, and early electronics into a transcendent auditory experience. The album has been recorded by Manuel G?ttsching in its entirety, with additional help from producer Dieter Diercks, Harald Grosskopf, and of course Rosemarie "Rosi" M?ller. Starring Rosi is an essential piece of their continuation of blending cosmic psychedelia, ambient textures, and avant-garde electronic experimentation. Starring Rosi stands out in Ash Ra Tempel's discography for its lighter, more accessible sound, balancing the band's signature cosmic explorations with melodic structures and poetic lyrics. The album is a sonic journey that takes listeners through seven distinct tracks, each showcasing Manuel G?ttschings pioneering approach to music. This reissue of Starring Rosi has been introduced and overseen by Manuel G?ttsching, and finalized by his family exactly to his standards, in which the meticulous approach to his work lives on. An updated 2024 recut carefully commissioned by Schnittselle in Berlin ensures the warm depth sound while bringing out the rich textures and nuances, all of the original recordings. Comes with a replica of the original vinyl artwork including its original backside. Also includes a poster of the alternate backside, used later on the CD editions showing Rosi and Manuel improvising during studio sessions. Also included are prints of previously unreleased original "The Fairy Dance" and "Schizo" composition sheets, handwritten by Manuel.

DEVIANTS, THE Disposable LP
"The Deviants were an influential underground rock band from the UK, active primarily in the late 1960s. Known for their raw, anarchic style, they combined garage rock, proto-punk, and psychedelic influences. Originally formed as The Social Deviants in 1967, the band was fronted by the poet, writer, and provocateur Mick Farren. The Deviants' sound was characterized by its experimental approach, blending bluesy riffs, rebellious lyrics, and chaotic energy. They were a significant precursor to punk and were part of the UK countercultural movement. Disposable was originally released in 1968. A mix of satire, politics, and raw rock music. Although The Deviants didn't achieve mainstream success, they became a cult band with a lasting influence on punk and alternative rock. Mick Farren went on to have a solo music career and became a respected writer and journalist. The Deviants were known as much for their countercultural ethos as their music, making them a key part of the late '60s underground scene."

BACHELET, PIERRE Gwendoline LP
"Gwendoline (1984) is an American adventure-fantasy thriller directed by Just Jaeckin. The story follows a beautiful young woman (played by Tawny Kitaen) who travels to an exotic and dangerous land in search of her missing father. Accompanied by her loyal friend Beth and a mercenary named Willard (Brent Huff), Gwendoline's journey takes her into the mysterious and perilous Land of the Yik-Yak. Along the journey, they encounter cannibals, a tribe of Amazonian warriors, and other classic perils of the unexplored jungle. A decade after Emmanuelle, one of the most iconic French films, Just Jaeckin teamed up again with composer Pierre Bachelet (Emmanuelle, Histoire D'O, Les Bronzes font du ski, Coup de tete) for their final film collaboration on Gwendoline. Inspired by John Willie's notorious S&M comic strip, the movie blends action, fantasy, and eroticism, with a visual style reminiscent of pulp comics and old-fashioned adventure serials. Its campy tone, exotic settings, and daring costumes made it a cult classic. The soundtrack, highlighted by 'Willard's Theme,' is a dreamy fusion of synthesizers, baroque influences, and '80s flair, blending traditional orchestral elements with contemporary electronic sounds. To honor Pierre Bachelet's legacy 20 years after his passing, this special edition presents the original LP program, previously released by RCA, remastered from Sony Music's pristine stereo master tapes. Limited to 500 individually numbered copies, the album is pressed on silver-and-black marbled vinyl."

INVADERS, THE Spacing Out LP
"Spacing Out is an instrumental masterpiece only ever issued in Bermuda at the turn of 1970. A mix of the band's out-there original compositions and extravagant covers of The Meters, The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, and The Isley Brothers, it established this band as one of the greatest instrumental bands of any genre, and helped kickstart the retro-soul/funk scenes that birthed the likes of Daptone and Big Crown Records. It's certainly a lodestar for Now-Again Records. This reissue was done with the license and participation of the entire Invaders band, with their story told in great detail in an oversized booklet penned by Jefferson 'Chairman' Mao, complete with rare photos of this rarely seen ensemble. From the proverbial stank face-inducing opening bars of reverb-drenched drums and congas that announce Spacing Out, you're thrust into something visceral and fleeting: a pocket universe in which technical excess, chemistry between players, and the uninhibited energy of youth align in a kind of glorious imperfection. Spacing Out is one of the greatest instrumental albums of its or any period in that unmistakably raw -- as in honest -- way only a crew of largely self-taught young-uns could catch a groove."

WITCH Introduction (Red Vinyl) LP
2025 repress. Opaque red vinyl version. "Our comprehensive overview of Zambia's premier garage-, psych-, prog-, funk-,Afro-rock ensemble Witch, We Intend To Cause Havoc!, is now sold out in its 6LP box set form. So we are making the first four Witch albums available in archival reissue form. As with our box set, the audio is nigh-perfect -- restored and remastered from the original master tapes. The entirety of Witch's first album, restored and remastered from master tapes, and presented as an archival reissue. Witch's musical arc is contained to a five year span and, in retrospect, is a logical one. The band's first two, self-produced albums - released in unison with the birth of the commercial Zambian recording industry -- are exuberant experiments in garage rock, and are as influenced by the Rolling Stones as they are James Brown. Thus Introduction, their first, is the perfect starting point for anyone interested in delving into the Witch band, or Zamrock in general."

ENXIN/ONYX In Rupture LP
Enxin/Onyx, the duo of Nicky Mao/Hiro Kone and Tot Onyx (formerly Group A), joins Other People with their debut album In Rupture, capturing the same mesmerizing energy for which their live sets have become known. In Rupture is not painless but in rupture lies possibility. The elasticity of this time pitching listeners across unknown terrain, revealing new potentialities, eclipsing static being. Whether in breach, collision, shimmer or severance, Enxin/Onyx explores these as occasions for transformation. Peeling back the layers through discord and harmony, exciting the inversion of expectation, towing the listener to depths and back up again to illuminate the senses. At times metallic and feral, at others murky and sharp, each song serves as an offering for all that is in rupture; body, spirit, land, ecosystem. The opening track "A Void" calls to mind some mutation in its mechanical ecstasy, but for what purpose remains unknown. Even in the near moments of stillness, "Needle Pierces the Threshold" breathes a forceful disquietude. Tommi's vocals pulling the listener down into some subterranean madness, to unravel upwards from all sides, flooding the once parched landscape. In "Embers Kiss the Eye," all of time emerges in one moment, compelling the subject's gaze towards a new horizon. The album follows its subjects through exile, exhumation and discovery. Through this process plates shift, fissures are revealed and what once appeared to be indomitable absolutes crack, pointing towards their inevitable collapse. To be in rupture is regeneration, to be in rupture is to return.

EXPOSE ETC LP
In a continued disruption to the airwaves following releases from Bondo and Monde UFO, Quindi returns to the Californian noise rock scene-not-scene to dig on the gnarled riffs of Expose. On their new release, the LA outfit double-down on a unique blend of bloated guitar fuzz and grimy analogue synths, and come out with a curiously cosmic kind of kick-ass. If there was a dreamy, sun-bleached quality to Bondo and Monde UFO, their label mates Expose sound more wrought from sweat-drenched jam sessions under halogen strip lights in grease-stained garages. But the guttural quality of their blown-out guitar tone is matched for vibrancy by the dexterity of their playing, bringing angular free jazz to post hardcore and sludge rock, capped off with the unearthly sonic possibilities of flamboyant synthesis. This dual-layered wall of sound lends extra weight to the likes of shit-kicking "Speed Dial," which thunders like a kosmische juggernaut with amped up leads and a dead-eyed vocal condensed into a visceral minute, all with enough time for a dramatic breakdown, synth eruption and a final thrust. Similarly scooped out of the trash compactor, "Description" rides for longer with one foot pressed firmly on the fuzz pedal, letting the electronics squeal around the punked-up rush of the guitars. But Expose are not a one-dimensional band constantly thrashing it out. By contrast, "The Constant" hits a crushing emotional note in its more structured push and pull between delicacy and heaviness, hitting bittersweet notes along the way throughout the peaks and troughs of the arrangement. "Self Terror" washes languid, discordant guitar strum into swirling FX accompanied by sax from Monde UFO's Ray Monde. Smart as a whip, sharp as a tack and boiling over with an untameable urgency, Expose make their presence felt in brilliant, bruising form on this particularly fierce addition to the Quindi catalogue.

DEAD BANDIT Dead Bandit LP
Capturing phantom drones behind dusty beats and haunted twangs, Ellis Swan and James Schimpl return for their third album as Dead Bandit. Locked into a musical language unique to their collaboration, the duo once again put listeners out to pasture across broad sonic plains, drums flapping like loose fence panels in the prairie breeze and bass rumbling like distant thunder. True to their previous two records, Swan and Schimpl keep the strung-out guitars at the front of what they do, whether playing a naked, desolate strum or running six strings through disruptive effects processing until they're barely recognizable. But while there are details of disturbance when listening to Dead Bandit's self-titled record up close, the wider impression is a smoother, more direct affair that toys with post-rock complexity and matches it with the emotional weight of melodic simplicity, gentle grooves and conscious arrangements. "Weeds" offsets its languid fuzz guitar with shimmering sustained notes before settling into a patient, heavy-hearted composition charged with heartbreak leads pealing out in the middle distance. By comparison, "Glass" has a smoky, half-hidden backroom quality. Its brushed whisper of a beat, lingering guitar drones and subtle sub bass come on like a dub wise flip of a sad-eyed country ballad. The mood maintains on "Half Smoked Cigarette," which captures the grey sky sullenness of post-punk and reframes it in the seductive isolation of rural America. While there's a thickness to the sound on these most direct of tracks on the album, there's also fragility inherent to the sound world Dead Bandit have been shaping out over these past few years. There's an even clearer direction mapped out in the vintage drum machine pulse of "Koyo," all the better to carry swirling effects treatments and moody melodic figures. Even in these ominous climes there's space for plaintive, endearing hooks which land as the most direct phrases in Dead Bandit's musical lexicon to date. The fundamental sound across this album holds true, but Dead Bandit are never bound to a singular practice. "Lucien's Bitters" strikes up a pronounced drum machine beat which comes on like '90s downtempo, and it feels like a natural vessel for the heavy, shoegaze tinted lament of the guitars. At every turn, Swan and Schimpl prove their affinity for all kinds of approaches, and yet the end product is a deeply cohesive, immediate listen that shows just how clear their creative vision really is.

CARPACCIO, CARA Im Weltraum (576000003579 Jahre) 12"
Some records come from the head, others from the heart. Weltraum EP by Cara Carpaccio is a bit of both -- an interstellar blend of cosmic vibes, disco roots, and a touch of robot melancholy. Born out of a time when the world felt both distant and strange, the EP channels those moments of isolation, longing, and unexpected creativity into something playful and deeply human. What started as an open-ended studio session turned into a journey guided by synthesizers listeners could only dream of owning, Marvin the robot's dry wit from The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, and Cara's love for cosmic sounds and disco grooves. The tracks came together in single evenings, capturing emotions as they unfolded. Cara brought her energy, composing, performing, and singing her way into the stars, with Luis (aka Planet Zwo) riffing on guitar to ground it all. Marabou (Fabian) tied it together, wiring up gear, recording, and even finding a remix idea in the middle of mixing. The result? A collection of tracks that balances nostalgia and futurism, melancholy and euphoria. Adding even more fuel to the ship are remixes from the likes of Intergalactic FM's I-F + Gerd Janson, and Dan Tyler of the Idjut Boy.

VOLK, JOHANNES Lightweave 12"
The second outing of Johannes Volk for Running Back picks up, where Extra Dimensions left listeners: traditional techno components, an inclination for melodies, '80s electro(nic) pop and aesthesia for ecstasy. Something for everyone's taste and nothing tacky. Lightweave is like the conversation that Giorgio Moroder and Wolfgang Voigt never had. With a power plant of a bass line that's pretty much all you need. The direct connection to the EPs artwork is "Cubistic Pathway." Painted with acryl on canvas as a birthday present, it's like the title tracks little and playful brother and a homage to 16bit platform games like Turrican or Contra. "Fragments of Moments" is the sort of piano-not-piano-house stomper that classic techno DJs love, while "Sense of Wonder" is one of those songs without vocals that appeals to '80s-kids and their offspring. Last but not least, "Emotional Message" and its hypodermic breakbeat dates back to 2011, wears the heart on the sleeve, and screams tearjerker, bear hug or elevation. If you can't get enough of that, there are three digital bonus tracks, that mix, re-mix and fixate the topics you just read about. Volk's populi!

SPACE DIMENSION CONTROLLER Acid Sampler 1.5 12"
The follow-up to the first Acid Sampler is now in the hands of a single artist. Space Dimension Controller does Running Back the honor to leave his fingerprints on the (usually) silver box -- and it's a match made in heaven. The Irish man's music is mostly a nod to the subtle and more delicate ramifications of electronic music. His Acid Sampler is no exception. Most of the EP presents itself as an ode to the brain dance vibe of acid house rooted music. While leaving out the harder and faster styles of the genre, SDC manages to pour his heart and soul as a producer into these four charming tracks. "Kosmische Conga" works as the leader of the pack and pirouettes with memorable hooks, synthesizer swells and descant acid lines. "Echopet" introverts the whole concept, while "Minehead" peaks with it. Named after the seaside town that harbored the Bloc Weekend festival, it's a warp-free romantic reflex of the brain dance vibe -- or a heartfelt love song for circuits. "Carinacid" completes the quartet with a chugging and hugging mid-tempo beat that could have gone on forever. Acid test passed! Artwork by Gasius.

Lost tracks don't stay lost forever. Running Back presents the reissue of Aric's I Love Your Love -- a long-forgotten gem from the good-time party days of the early dance era. Originally created in the spirit of celebration and groove, these tracks disappeared into obscurity until a few dedicated DJs and dancers across the globe began bringing them back to life. When Elado stumbled upon the songs and saw the magic they still held for modern dancefloors, he tracked down Aric -- now better known as Dr. Aric, a paediatric public health professional -- to bring the music back to the world. What followed was a journey through memory, music, and rediscovery. The result is here: the original cuts, plus fresh remixes from Elado, Pete Blaker, and Gerd Janson. BIG MESS Heroic Captains of Industry LP
"There's an insurmountable weight to Big Mess' music, and at times, an insurmountable wait too. The Lowell, MA based trio have earned themselves a cult like status among those in the know. To come across the heavy thud and dissonant groove of their instrumental wreckage is to fall in love with the band, but it's been seven long years since their last release (a split with New Hampshire's Black Norse) and nearly a decade since their last full length. You'd be excused if you'd thought they'd hung it up, but thankfully, you'd be dead wrong. Big Mess comes roaring back to life on Heroic Captains of Industry. The album is colossally heavy with nuanced writing that see-saws and tugs in opposing directions at will. There's a wealth of atmosphere in Big Mess' songs as chord structures push and pull, rattling in the still air, the band using repetition and space to create their void. Once you've been pulled in, there's nothing left to do but marvel in its wake. 'Caoutchouteuse,' the record's first single is a shimmering example of their spatial focus, a song that moves at a slow-pulled pace, opting for seasick progressions and the juxtaposition of sludge and open-air freedom. As the dust begins to settle, the avalanche comes toppling over. Rather than a post-rock informed crescendo though, Big Mess pull back and peel at the seams, the course a spiral rather than a straight path. It's one brilliantly unpredictable moment on an album full of them (wait til you hear its companion in 'Misery Blues'). Big Mess is back." --Dan Goldin (Post-Trash)RIYL: Earth, Exploding In Sound, Harvey Milk, Sunn O))), Son House.

AGORIA Unshadow 2LP
"Electronic music has never been solely about the music itself or its fame. It has been a fight, a totem. Every week it becomes a universal communion, a celebration, a reconciliation with both ourselves and others. No frontiers, no territories, no certainties other than being as authentic as possible. As a musician and producer, after five albums, I clearly know that my proposition will always be about diversity more than a single crafted sound. This is how I am: multifaceted, nourished by social human exchanges and my encounters in science, art, and technology. I have one life and different bodies. I can be physical and digital, technological and organic, house, techno, and soul. This album is about shedding light in a vertical period where the fight for truth and visibility becomes crucial, where Blockchain might become our right to vote. It's about making complex things sound simpler, joining the dots. A proposition more than a promise: Unshadow. The metamorphosis is happening; embracing all generations on the same song with Nile Rodgers and Madison McFerrin! Embracing the diversity of backgrounds, styles, and geography, from Sacha Rudy to Dominique Fils-Aim? (Canada), through Natalie Sade (Australia). As a citizen of the world, having traveled endlessly for 30 years now, I know how lucky I have been to experience and experiment with various situations. If this album can simply share some of the joy I have received and spread some goodwill and white magic to the listener, I will be the happiest seeing the light that chases away the shadow." --Agoria

The music on Nozomi unfolds gently, with Lindermayr's airy tone and lyrical playing being wrapped in Ohta's chordal backing that moves from tender to tense and back over the course of the album. While most tunes were written by Lindermayr, the only exception being an interpretation of Ryuichi Sakamoto's "Hibari," the arrangements are largely improvised, letting the duo's intuition guide the course and build the form. Created by Gainsbourg with arranger and longstanding collaborator Alain Gourager, the music is fittingly the cool jazz of dingy nightclubs and seedy bordellos, with Gainsbourg on piano, and there's the sultry title track, delivered breathlessly by Juliette Greco. Another lost gem for all serious Gainsbourg fans.

TOURE, ALI FARKA Ali Toure Farka LP
One of the best-known African musicians of all time, the renowned Malian singer and guitarist Ali Farka Toure was one of the pioneers of African desert blues. Born to a noble caste, he was forbidden to play music but wound up representing Mali in the early 1960s on an international contest held in Bulgaria, where he bought his first guitar and was exposed to the music of John Lee Hooker, which became a big influence. This self-titled classic was recorded for Radio Mali in 1977 and captures Toure at his magnificent best, with just his guitar for accompaniment, and an unusual violin on both "Yer Mali Wolo" and "Remobe."

COMPLEMENTARY MINDS Complementary Minds Vol. 2 LP
Complementary Minds present their new album, the second one, Complementary Minds Vol 2. It picks up right where the first one left off and just like that one, it's out on their label, Terapia Records. Complementary Minds Vol.2 is, as the duo has been treating us to lately, a subtle yet striking evolution from the first chapter of what will be a trilogy. The tracks are a mix of influences from all sorts of genres like hip-hop, breakbeat, electro, house, acid jazz and much more. But the compositional style here is more mature, even more aware and refined, less raw than the first album, which showcased their creative talent in an instinctive way. This is a big step in the musical maturity of Luca and Michele. As usual, they flaunt their passion for movies by stuffing the tracks with film references in the form of samples: you'll find samples from The Goonies in "Goonietown," Natural Born Killers in "Born Dead," and even Fantozzi Contro Tutti, a wild obsession of Luca, in the track "Rmx & Chips!" Continuing from the first album, the tracks on what should be the first side are named starting with C, so the second side is the D side, kicking off with "Goonietown" and its absolutely smashing four-on-the-floor groove. The breathless sprint of Complementary Minds sees the finish line approaching, but not before tackling the sonic leaps of a world crafted by their vintage touch and the late '80s rhythmic evolutions of the ruggedly classy "Explorer '85". "Ambient Kontakt" anticipates the 9th inning of this record with a touch of healthy weirdness, a must by the pair, and sets the stage for the fleeting and dreamy outro of the spacey "?" Omega for the Greek scholars, symbolizing the end, the final letter of the alphabet. The tune is inspired to Jerry Goldsmith's majestic soundtracks; he composed, amongst others, the music for Alien and Rambo. As always, they send their regards from Milan and invite you to keep your eyes peeled and your ears open for the final chapter of the trilogy!

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & HIS MAGIC BAND Trout Mask Replica 2LP
2025 repress! "Trout Mask Replica is a touchstone in the history of recorded music. The mix of dada absurdist blues and previously unexplored experimental avenues has long been praised as one of the greatest albums of all time. As so eloquently put by John Peel, 'If there has been anything in the history of popular music which could be described as a work of art in a way that people who are involved in other areas of art would understand, then Trout Mask Replica is probably that work.' In full partnership with the Zappa Family Trust and to celebrate the relaunch of the seminal Bizarre label imprint, Third Man Records is proud to announce Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band's Trout Mask Replica. Out of print on vinyl for nearly ten years, this remaster was helmed by industry legend Bob Ludwig and cut by the estimable Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Utilizing crystalline-quality safety masters kept in the Zappa family vault for decades by the trustworthy Joe Travers, the audio here is positively glorious. Every last skronk breathes full life into the room. Every twisted guitar figure uncurls onto paths previously unpaved. Every last bark and howl shines resolute through the vast emptiness of your mind. Previous countless Trout Mask Replica repressings used scans of scans of scans of the cover image, but the original Cal Schenkel cover photo has been tracked down and reproduced here at its clearest -- its resolution from the original release in 1969. If you've only ever seen a jpg online or fuzzy, smeared-looking CD issues from the 90's, be prepared to be wowed by the fully engaging spectrum this iconic image casts. This 2xLP is pressed on heavyweight 180-gram black vinyl for that full-on frenetic feeling. 180g vinyl, gatefold Stoughton tip-on jacket, booklet insert."

FRIEBE, RICO People In White Cars CD
"Dear music lovers, this album represents the truest and purest essence of myself in a 'now state' at the end of my thirties. I really don't care about aging, but I care about these ten songs. They make me happy, sad, aware, they make me laugh, cry and confident -- hopefully, they make you feel the same or make you feel at all, too. For me, they shatter the rising coldness in this world. This wholesome musical powerhouse is about 'people in white cars' -- it's a weird metaphor. Learn all about it on this album." --Rico

TIGA & HUDSON MOHAWKE LMZ:RMX 12"
Within Tiga's stripped-down electronic funk and Hudson Mohawke's grandiose beats exists a common thread; an idea Tiga expresses as "hardcore romance." Recorded in Los Angeles, these commonalities ebbed and flowed through various recordings, culminating in their debut album -- L'Ecstasy. Turbo revisits the album with a set of club-driven remixes, bringing together Keinemusik's Reznik, Montreal masters Priori & Patrick Holland as Jump Source, and Berghain stalwart Quelza. Pressed loud on a stunning 12" picture disc, featuring imagery from none-other-than Wolfgang Tillmans.

ARCHITECTURAL Good Night, Whatever That Is 12"
Years of simmering mutual admiration between Turbo and Architectural finally erupt with Good Night, Whatever That Is, the Asturian producer's first release on the label. Nothing gets Turbo hot and bothered like the prospect of featuring a true artist on the label. The Good Night, Whatever That Is EP imbues the timeless platonic forms of techno with an energy, craft and depth that will feel instantly familiar to anyone who has built a cathedral with their bare hands. And yet the unadulterated power of lead single "Steampunk" and the even-less-adulterated power of "Tubular Funk" confirm that this release also has one foot squarely planted on the secular dance floor, coursing with the searing bio-fluids that drive and torment all sexual beings. Meanwhile, your deep human need for contrast will be sated by the IDM-ambient euphorics of "Eternity Land" and the highbrow breaks of "Rousing Rhythms."

FLUXION Haze 2LP
Double LP version. Since his early days at Chain Reaction, K. Soublis (Fluxion) has carved his own unique style, combining elements of dub, ambient, techno, score, textural, and even jazz elements, all glued together with his distinct production aesthetic. Haze is a broad selection of pieces that was recorded between 2023 and 2024. The music moves from more slow cyclic compositional pieces on "Life Motif," "Nexus," and "Desiderium," to ambient dub pieces, on "Magenta" and "Touch," on to more euphoric and uplifting ones on "Footsteps," "Berlin," and "What Tommorow Brings," reflecting on the artist's need to tell stories. As a whole Haze showcases the artist's versatility on moving and combining different genres with his own distinct crafted sound, bringing a bold, fresh, unique view, making the album an indulging and intriguing listening experience. Fluxion has managed to constantly add to his sound through the years always evolving and Haze is a testament of his restless nature and his need to move towards more uncharted territories without alienating the listener.

JAM, THE This Is the Modern World (Clear Vinyl) LP
2025 repress. Vinyl Lovers present clear vinyl reissue of The Jam's second album This Is The Modern World, originally released in 1977 just after their debut record. Despite generally bad reviews from critics at the time, the album does have its shining moments ("Life From A Window" and "The Modern World", for example). But it is also interesting as a piece of history for its lyrical content, which, as the album's title promised, is a snapshot of a day in the life of the declining British Empire during the late 1970s. Includes eight bonus tracks from the BBC sessions.

CABANISTS, THE The Cabanists LP
Bursting forth from the darkness of this pre-apocalyptic winter comes The Cabanists, the first release of an improvisational project of the same name, comprising three members of the UK's seminal avant-rock band, N?ught. Garnering a cult following since their initial self-titled debut, N?ught became known in the London experimental underground for their tightly orchestrated yet highly complex compositions, ranging from heavy atonal riffage to mesmerizing and hypnotic meditations. The Cabanists builds on N?ught's musical language and are a boundary-pushing trio fusing intricate guitar riffs, dynamic keyboard textures and explosive percussion into a sound that defies convention. Featuring James Sedwards on guitar (most recently known for his involvement with the Thurston Moore Group and This Is Not This Heat), Luke Barlow on keyboards (who co-runs Copepod Records with musician Alex Ward) and Bo Mapper on drums, the band recorded their groundbreaking material during an extended session at London's Lonely Man Studio, marking a defining moment in their musical journey. With influences spanning progressive rock, experimental jazz and post-punk energy, The Cabanists weave a sonic tapestry that is as cerebral as it is visceral. They challenge standard rock and jazz norms while crafting deeply resonant soundscapes, inviting listeners into a thrilling journey of sound and intense emotion. Prepare to lose yourself in the intricate chaos and undeniable groove of The Cabanists -- where every note is a revelation.
