FUCKWOLF Boone LP
"If Goodbye, Asshole was the wild night -- tequila-sharp riffs, sticky floors, and last-call chaos howled into the void of a disappearing city -- then Boone is the merciless morning after. The sun cracks the blinds. The brain throbs. Every bad decision gleams in the hard light, raw and undeniable. Fuckwolf's second album pares their scuzz-wave blitz down to exposed nerves: Eric Park's basslines stalk like a hangover pulse, Simon Phillips' drums land like a palm slapping the alarm into silence, and Tomo Yasuda's guitar wirings spit like diner coffee left to burn on the hotplate. The fog has lifted; the damage is inventoried. These ten tracks are crime scene polaroids, tales of longing and woe, fresh mystery bruises and eulogies. There's no wallowing here, just the tight, terrible beauty of a band that's stared down the void and come back swinging. The party's dead. Long live the reckoning."

SAVOEUN, SO The Golden Voice of Phnom Penh, 1962-1974 LP
Deluxe laminated sleeve and high-quality vinyl made in France. Includes: A3 poster, 2x 12'' inserts, 1x 4-panels flyer. Limited edition of 700. Akuphone and The Cambodian Vintage Music Archive present the first-ever retrospective dedicated to So Savoeun -- one of the radiant voices that defined Phnom Penh's golden age of sound in the 1960s and 1970s. In those vibrant years, the city pulsed with music: rock bands, crooners, and traditional ensembles blended East and West, shaping a uniquely Cambodian pop that shimmered with hope and modernity. Amid this flourishing scene, So Savoeun's voice stood out -- silken yet powerful, intimate yet expansive, carrying with it the promise of a new era. This collection brings together rare and long-unheard recordings, including luminous duets with legendary contemporaries Meas Saman, Lek Savath, and Sinn Sisamouth. Each track is more than just a song -- it is a fragment of memory, a preserved echo of nights when Phnom Penh's dance halls and radios overflowed with rhythm and possibility. In her own words, hearing these songs resurface is like opening a long-buried chest of jewels, hidden beneath the dust of history and now gleaming again after half a century. Her voice, once thought lost to time, reemerges like the cicada whose chant reverberates endlessly through the forest -- an eternal call that bridges silence and remembrance. Her music is more than nostalgia; it is testament and rebirth. It continues to resonate, not only with those who lived through that golden era, but with new generations discovering its beauty for the first time. Through this release, the past breathes again -- tender, luminous, and unforgettably alive.

LARD Pure Chewing Satisfaction CD
"Lard's Pure Chewing Satisfaction is the second landmark album of the industrial-hardcore collision between vocals of Jello Biafra with the patented wall of noise assault and studio wizardry of Ministry founders Paul Barker and Al Jourgensen! Originally released in 1997, Pure Chewing Satisfaction is a dark, frightening look at everything wrong in America, and it rings as true now as it ever has. Lyrically its pessimistic and apocalyptic, tackling topics like looking for work, the legacy of the Me Generation and their failures, to environmental disasters. Sonically, the album is an avalanche of both real and electronic drums, menacing effects galore, and layers of machine gun guitars. Not quite punk rock, nor completely industrial -- this is Lardcore for the people! A must have for fans of Jello Biafra's work and of Ministry, the result remains another classic release from this legendary collaboration."

KYLE SOWASHES, THE Start Making Sense LP
LP version. "Kyle Sowash has had it. I mean, he's not alone. Things are getting tough out there. People are on these streets selling their Built to Spill records just to make rent. It's not okay. Start Making Sense is an appeal to sanity for all dads and phantom dads. A celebration of the tired and a strong cry for another beer. In case of emergency, raise glass. We've come so far from simply filing things under 'what's important' and 'what's not;' on this record, Sowash deals with fragile men, Cleveland football and justice for classic rock drummers. That coffee-colored telecaster still gets beat to hell, just for the healing. Look at the guitar up close if you can. Or just listen closer. The band is locked in. La Russo bumps. You could marinate meat in Hemminger's tone. Bandman has arms like a government clock. There's a universal yuck on us. You wake up to a world advancing and aging and cracking apart. Put this record on, man. Start Making Sense is a modern life survival kit, replete with horn arrangements and hot dog hooks. You're gonna be okay. Or you're gonna get the dishes done, at the very least. Turn it around, my guy. Start making sense." --Lee Keeler

KASAI WITH HERBIE HANCOCK, KIMIKO Butterfly LP
2025 restock. Be With Records present the first ever official reissue of Kimiko Kasai with Herbie Hancock's Butterfly, originally released in 1979. The positively sublime and very rare Butterfly LP, recorded in Tokyo in 1979 by Japanese songstress Kimiko Kasai and jazz legend Herbie Hancock. Due to its super-rare status as a Japan-only release, this exquisite collection of covers never got the recognition it deserved at the time, despite incredibly inspired performances from Kimiko, Herbie, and the supremely talented musicians assembled for the project. From heavenly drummer Alphonse Mouzon and renowned organist Webster Lewis to bassist Paul Jackson, reedman Bennie Maupin, and the master percussionist Bill Summers, the legendary performers crafted amazingly good vocal versions of Herbie/Headhunters jazz-funk. Unsurprisingly, it has been heavily in demand for many years. The LP opens with Kimiko's highly desirable version of "I Thought It Was You", an elegant take on Herbie's own anthem. Other superb re-workings include the delicately soulful "Butterfly", jazzy groover "Sunlight", the smooth and sexy "Tell Me A Bedtime Story", and the beautiful ballads "Maiden Voyage" and "Harvest Time". A wonderful example of perfectly understated and masterful jazz-funk soul fusion that shouldn't be missed, the set closes with a jaw-dropping version of Stevie Wonder's "As". This lovingly curated reissue enables a long overdue reappraisal of this hitherto unavailable masterpiece. The stunning artwork which adorned the original jacket -- complete with obi strip and sumptuous four-page folded insert -- has been faithfully restored. Mastered by Simon Francis, and pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

BRAIN PILLS Goatshead Part 1 LP
Limited clear yellow vinyl. "It has been a long time since Creepy Crawl released any music -- the return to the fray was not something the label had had thought about -- times have changed, the world of underground music is almost unrecognizable -- however things came back into focus when the underground legend that is Mike Vest came calling. Mike Vest is a one man musical tour de force known for his extensive work with such bands as Bong, Drunk in Hell, 11 Paranoias, Blown Out, and Mienakunaru to name a few, releasing records on many underground labels such as Riot Season, Ritual Productions and Cardinal Fuzz etc. For Brain Pills, Vest has teamed up with Adam Stone from the excellent Poundland on vocals and Nick Raybould from Thought Bubble on drums and art. The result is very impressive indeed -- primitive but deadly drums, pulverizingly heavy riffs, lots of fuzz and distortion going on, coupled with Adam Stones demented and haunting vocal style all topped off by the excellent and disturbing artwork courtesy of Nick Raybould. The LP Goatshead is homage to Vest's hometown of Gateshead -- Goatshead being the ancient pagan name. The record has been mastered for this vinyl release by crust punk legend Bri Doom, known for his work with Sore Throat, Doom, Lazarus Blackstar, and most recently with the excellent Disciple BC. The sound is massive, just what you would expect. Released on clear yellow vinyl with OBI strip and limited to just 300 copies."

LOOSE LIPS Last Laugh LP
"Melbourne, Australia's Loose Lips present their debut album Last Laugh, proudly released by Dig! Records, and self-released by the band from their home base in Melbourne, Australia. The world may be ending, and you're not getting any younger, but rock'n'roll rings eternal, so they're letting it all hang out across ten unadulterated tracks of spirited revelry, plenty: young, loud and snotty. But also skilled, melodic and heartfelt. If you haven't yet heard the word, Loose Lips are Josh Hardy (guitar/ vocals; the Chats and the Unknowns), Ethan Stahl (bass/ vocals; Chubby and the Gang, The Prize, Street Sweeper) and Nadine Muller (drums/ vocals; the Prize). The sum of their top-shelf pedigree, Last Laugh, is a certified heater sure to rattle your jelly brain and jumpstart all your other fun parts. Forged from rock'n'roll incarnate, Josh and Nadine met on tour with their other bands, and bonded handedly over their love of '60s groups like the Ronettes, The Dave Clark 5 and the Shangri-Las, alongside their later counterparts: the New York Dolls, Eddie and the Hot Rods and Blondie. Last Laugh is a DIY love letter sealed with a kiss; made by friends, for friends -- new, old and waiting in the wings."

MANDOLIN SISTERS Odysseys in Electric Carnatic LP
Discostan presents the first vinyl release by young legends Sireesha and Sreeusha -- better known to both classical Indian fans and to musical fans of improvisation around the world as the Mandolin Sisters. On their first album released to a global audience, the Sisters showcase an upstart energy, revitalizing centuries-old songs with a fast and furious playing on electrified mandolin. Mandolin Sisters: Odysseys in Electric Carnatic is a deep immersion into the Sisters' virtuosic playing style, weaving intricate lines and sophisticated harmonies that will appeal to fans of genre-expanding experimental guitar sounds and improvised music. But the pair is also deeply steeped in historical tradition and spent years dedicated to study and practice of these sonorities. Even before the two sisters could read, the duo were singularly devoted to the expression of Carnatic music through an instrument that is still relatively new to South Indian classical music. Over their career, they have played more than 3,500 shows. The mandolin is only a recent addition to the world of Carnatic music. However, there is no disputing the role that Uppalapu Srinivas (more widely known as simply U. Srinivas) played in bringing the instrument to wider acclaim and as a respected part of South Indian classical music. Today, the Mandolin Sisters are carrying on the legacy of Srinivas. Across the seven songs in this album, the Mandolin Sisters imbue their signature sound onto raga compositions drawn from the deep well of the Carnatic tradition. Because of the amount of improvisation in Carnatic music, no song is ever played the same twice. Each person adjusts the song every time to create an all-new version, even playing them for years. While they are inspired by deep tradition and the mastery of Srinivas and others, their search for new paths is unrelenting. In the words of Sireesha: "In Carnatic music there's no end to learning, it keeps going. It's like a sea. No matter how deep you go, there is always more depth." Discostan is a relatively young record label dedicated to documenting innovative sounds from South and West Asia and North Africa from the past, present and future. The long-running party, radio show and label has previously released reissues of Urdu-language synth pop and Palestine's first English-language folk songs. This album is a unique entry point into contemporary Carnatic music as well as a gift (or revelation) for fans of adventurous music from new voices.

VA Midnite Spares LP
2025 repress. The Efficient Space label follows its acclaimed 2016 Sky Girl compilation (EFFICIENT 002CD/LP) with Midnite Spares. Here, Australian music devotees Andr?s Fox and Instant Peterson hold a candle to overlooked avant-pop and electronic works by antipodean artists and outsiders working through the '80s and '90s. Through co-presenting their weekly radio show "Strange Holiday", the duo slowly upturned their locale for inspiration - archives, country bookstores, private collections and convenience stores - searching for a place to anchor their own identities in the oceans of the island continent. The ten tracks here acknowledge a minor history, passed on via a network of friends, friends of friends, the libraries of radio station 3RRR and more often than not, the artists themselves. Renowned mixed media artist Maria Kozic enters with the mysterious downbeat of "Trust Me", her partner Philip Brophy responsible for digital and analog sonic construction (as the MK Sound). A recurring character in Andr?s and Instant Peterson's investigations, Brophy reappears with a score piece from his divisive feature film Salt, Saliva, Sperm and Sweat (1988), recorded as ? ? ? (pronounced "Tch Tch Tch"). Other links are thread under the surface. Melbourne inner north experimentalist David Chesworth explores his Australiana song-craft leading Whadya Want? on "Open Spaces". The short lived project also featured Philip Jackson, whose duo The Couch is restored from Fast Forward's dance issue - a pioneering cassette fanzine published by early-80s 3RRR personality Bruce Milne. The collection binds a certain musicianship that's indifferent to fame or chart success, although some artists unwittingly experienced this before and after. Poets Of The Machine's Grace Jones techno-wave was a modest moment for Coral Island and Red Stripe, an English migrant who once celebrated a #1 UK Christmas single with an acapella cover of "Yazoo", while the morbid coming of age electronics of Foot And Mouth is a lesser known prologue to Sean Greenway and Matty Whittle's rise as legendary teen punks heroes God. Quickly becoming a modern dancefloor hit, Mumbo Jumbo's sole release "Wind It Up" is only now basking in its brilliance. The remaining figures shape the diversity further. There's Sydney dub addicts The Igniters, Mix's groovy synth song about masturbation and the Cameron Allen and Graham Bidstrup soundtrack for petrol headed "ozploitation" film, Midnite Spares (1983) -- the compilation's namesake.

POIRIER, ROMEO Off The Record LP
Off The Record, the new album by French collagist Rom?o Poirier, is an amusing romp through the discarded history of recording studios. It contains fourteen miniatures based on accidental recordings of studio talk, revealing things that were never meant for the public: listeners hear instructions from studio staff, scraps of talk between musicians, or just microphones being adjusted, as well as false notes, false starts: everyone stops. Start again: 1, 2, 3, 4! Poirier's approach recalls "Accumulation," an artform practiced by Arman, Jean Tinguely and Daniel Spoerri that involved piling up everyday items into assemblages. The objects themselves often remained unaltered, the artistic gesture consisting in the careful curating of a distinctive selection. Poirier's audio collages explore similar terrain. The fourteen pieces on Off the Record combine more than a thousand found sounds from studio archives into complex miniatures. The audio content of these outtakes is twisted, stretched, cut, reassembled, slowed down and accelerated. Voices cut into a microgroove, from a very old recording, intertwine with digital voices gleaned from YouTube. All of them in dialogue, engaging the listener with the impression of being part of a new music group. Poirier uses the mundane routine of setting up before the actual recording gets underway to tell a universal story about working in a recording studio. And he manages something few achieve, transforming specialist knowledge into a narrative whose beauty goes far beyond its immediate subject. It speaks to everyone, because the story is told in a musical language that is open and accessible, evoking magical images reminiscent of Oz -- a world consisting less of events than of camp hallucinations, captured in grainy black-and-white photographs. En passant, Poirier shows listeners how the notion of material accumulation can produce great art. Written and produced by Rom?o Poirier, mastered by Stephan Mathieu, photos by Rom?o Poirier, graphic design by Tim Tetzner.

ROBERTSON, JOANNE Black Moon Days LP
2025 restock; repress on clear vinyl. "Black Moon Days is the second amazing solo LP by British polymath Joanne Robertson. It comes six years after her 2008 debut, The Lighter (Textile), which was one of that year's signal releases. In the meantime, she has continued painting (the activity for which she is best known), curating shows, writing, recording odd bits in trio with Tom Greenwood and David Cunningham, touring and recording with Dean Blunt, and doing whatever the hell else it is she does. The songs on Black Moon largely proceed from the avant-volk tradition Joanne first explored on The Lighter. One can hear shards of Sibylle Baier's deepest darkness in these acoustic moments. But there's also electric material that is rougher, and more indicative of the wandering approach Joanne takes to rockist songwriting -- open form, open chord squalls of quiet brutality leavened by sweet vocals and lulling cadences. Her poetry, painting and music all have the same binary quality -- they pour sugar directly onto raw wounds in a way that is healing and transformative. Alchemical, I guess. Not easy to shorthand, Joanne Roberston's Black Moon Days is one of the great albums of the new year. Give yourself a treat and check it out." --Byron Coley, 2015. Includes download code.

AGRICULTURE The Spiritual Sound LP
LP version. "There's a kind of quiet violence in how music is consumed today -- flattened into background noise, sonic perfume fed into algorithms, sold as lifestyle. It's entertainment as anesthesia. Sound without the weight. The Spiritual Sound, the new full-length from Los Angeles?based band Agriculture, stands as a pointed refusal of this condition. This is not a playlist. This is not a vibe. It is a demand. Across its runtime, The Spiritual Sound traces a narrative arc through extremes: searing, sky-cracking catharsis on side A; a slow-burning, devotional undercurrent on side B. The album is largely a fusing of the visions of its two principal songwriters, Dan Meyer and Leah Levinson: distinct voices, deeply complementary. Meyer writes like someone clawing toward the divine through noise, channeling Zen Buddhism, historical collapse, ecstatic grief. Levinson's songs move differently: grounded in queer history and AIDS-era literature, amid the suffocating fog of the present, they carry the weight of survival as daily ritual. Her writing asks how to honor queer community and collective struggle without turning it into identity branding or personal mythmaking: how to stay honest, how to stay present. Though distinct, their voices converge in a singular spiritual grammar -- one that defines the totality of The Spiritual Sound, not as separate parts, but as one unified expression. Agriculture's formation mirrors this duality. What began as a loose collaboration between Kern Haug and Dan Meyer in the Los Angeles noise scene evolved into a shared pursuit of the sublime through heavy music. With the additions of Richard Chowenhill and Leah Levinson, the project solidified into the band's current form. The ecstatic black metal foundation was laid on 2022's The Circle Chant, expanded into something more precise and far-reaching on their 2023 self-titled full-length, and deepened further with 2024's Living Is Easy: a record that embraced devotional intensity and radiant heaviness in equal measure. Agriculture doesn't offer salvation. The Spiritual Sound isn't a map out of the fire. What it offers instead is presence: a confrontation with the moment, however unbearable, however divine. It insists that meaning is still possible, even in a world hell-bent on reducing everything to content, and where suffering itself can be conducive to recovery. As the Buddhist saying goes 'the only way out is in.'"

HEKURA Two Lonely Space Cowboys LP
Hekura are a Barcelona-based duo that create expansive soundscapes anchored in ritual minimalism. With influences ranging from the ethereal mysticism of Alice Coltrane to the hypnotic pulse of Steve Reich, their music explores the boundary between introspection and bold sonic exploration. Inspired by ethnographic traditions and the raw energy of Julius Eastman, their compositions fuse scattered percussion, shimmering textures, and hypnotic saxophone rhythms for moments of solitude and profound reflection. Hekura's work invites listeners to immerse themselves into a spectral world where tradition meets the avant-garde, offering a unique and evocative listening experience. Ernest and Edu met during their jazz studies at Taller de Musics in Barcelona. Their first conversation was about Charlie Haden Liberation Orchestra's "free jazz" version of the South African anthem, "Nkosi Sikelele." That bond quickly translated into a shared world of listening, respect, experimentation, and sound that crystallized in Hekura. Edu Pons is a saxophonist and a music teacher at Taller de M?sics in Barcelona. His music ranges from jazz to folk or from classical to free improvisation yet with his own distinctive voice. Ernest Pip? is a guitarist and composer from a small town in La Garrotxa. Currently based in Barcelona, he primarily focuses on music production and soundtrack composition. His influences range from jazz, electronica, noise, pop, and, although he dares to admit it, also ambient. For fans of: John Tchicai (with strings), Steve Reich, Arv & Milj?.

LINIKER CAJU 2LP
Restocked; double LP version. Gatefold with 4-page booklet. Includes obi and printed inner sleeves. Second album by Brazil's upcoming star, Liniker. A seamless blend of pop, samba, jazz, R&B, and house. Featuring Lulu Santos, Pabllo Vittar, Tropkillaz, Melly, Priscila Senna, Baianasystem, Amaro Freitas, and Anavit?ria. Born in Araraquara/S?o Paulo, Liniker is a multitalented artist -- singer, songwriter, music producer, and actress -- whose passion for the arts began in childhood. Influenced by her mother and uncles, who were active in samba rock circles, Liniker's early musical experiences planted the seeds for her future career. Today she is one of the most exciting Brazilian artists. In 2022, she won the Best Brazilian Album category at the Latin Grammy Awards with Indigo Borboleta Anil. In 2023, Liniker became immortalized by the Brazilian Academy of Culture, taking the seat once held by Elza Soares, the eternal Brazilian singer. Liniker's sophomore album CAJU has quickly become a classic in Brazilian popular music. The album's 14 tracks -- some extending beyond seven minutes -- demonstrate Liniker's commitment to artistic expression over commercial constraints. Liniker showcases versatility and artistic growth through a seamless blend of pop, samba, jazz, R&B, and house. Songs like "Veludo Marrom," "Tudo," and "Ao Teu Lado" shine for their musical complexity and emotional depth. Its success led to multiple wins at 2024 Multishow Brazilian Music Awards, including Artist and Album of the Year.

OTTONELLO/HERNAN JACINTO, MATEO Mateo Ottonello, Hernan Jacinto LP
Argentine pianist Hern?n Jacinto and Uruguayan drummer Mateo Ottonello come together in this boundary-pushing duo album recorded in New York. Blending acoustic and electronic textures, tradition and innovation, this project reimagines South American jazz through a contemporary lens -- offering a powerful journey into the evolving sound of the Rio de la Plata. The two shores of the R?o de la Plata -- Buenos Aires and Montevideo -- share a deep and vibrant jazz tradition, one that merges global influences with the region's rich musical heritage. For over half a century, rhythms like tango, candombe, and milonga have intertwined with jazz and other instrumental forms, continually exploring new directions and pushing creative boundaries. Argentine pianist and composer Hern?n Jacinto and Uruguayan drummer and percussionist Mateo Ottonello embody this spirit of exploration. Though from different generations, both are among the most innovative voices in the R?o de la Plata music scene -- artists unafraid to blend past and present in pursuit of something new.

LAMPEL, IAN The Parque Rodo Tapes LP
Embark on a sonic journey through the rich tapestry of Ian Lampel's multicultural heritage with his debut solo album, The Parque Rod? Tapes. From the echoes of his grandparents' wartime exodus from Europe's tumultuous past to the rhythms of daily life in Parque Rod?, Lampel's artistic vision was shaped by a kaleidoscope of influences: Science fiction and fantasy books, graphic design annuals, comics, films, early computers and videogames as well as music; the haunting melodies of Russian and Polish classical composers hummed by his grandmother while cooking, the choir and Hammond music of the synagogue, his early explorations in club music and dub or the syncopated drumming of candombe and carnaval echoing in the streets of Montevideo. The composer, producer and bass player, wrote, sequenced and recorded practically everything that is heard throughout the album. With meticulous attention to detail, he has crafted a sonic landscape that seamlessly blends elements of jazz and Uruguayan music with the innovative spirit of dub, hip-hop and electronica; from the infectious rhythms of candombe and the raw energy of murga, to breakbeats, moog's and samples. Drawing from a treasure trove of samples collected over two decades, The Parque Rod? Tapes weaves together a tapestry of sound that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking, from the haunting voice of Marosa Di Giorgio and the vibrant cacophony of a carnival field recording by Lauro Ayestaran, to the guest contributions from notable musicians including Lampel's wife, singer/songwriter Eco Lopez, multi-instrumentalist Luciana Giovinazzo on flute, and Ferna Nunez on repique drum. Each track is a testament to Lampel's eclectic vision. A debut album with a certain degree of melancholy that works as a soundtrack to the world in which the artist grew up, a world now gone, without cellphones or social networks, in which everything had to be proactively pursued "in the streets."

GOLDMANN/ENSEMBLE 180, STEFAN Input (The Sofia Versions) CD
Stefan Goldmann's Input translates electronic music into performance formats for human players of acoustic instruments. The standard remix process is thus inverted, by providing the electronics first. Then composers backwards-engineer what they hear into scores for ensemble. The original, synthesized version isn't available for the audience: Its hidden shape can only be guessed at through its acoustic translations. By collaborating with multiple composers, the process of direct auditory comparison allows for multidimensional insights. It reveals common traits in unlikely places and highlights differences between individual approaches. Ambiguities of sound/score relations, emergent parallelisms and unexpected congruencies become part of the sensory and cognitive experience. The three versions in this release -- by Daniel Chernov, Adrian Pavlov, and Lukas Tobiassen -- were recorded at Sofia's 180 Degrees Festival and performed by the stellar group of musicians from Bulgaria, France and Switzerland which came together in Ensemble 180?. The live recordings were further processed by Stefan Goldmann and now represent a stunning sonic hall of mirrors, with multiple vectors of transformation embedded in this dialogue.

ASH RA TEMPEL Join Inn CD
2025 reprint. Join Inn is the fourth album by Ash Ra Tempel. It was recorded at Studio Dierks and originally released on LP by Ohr Musik-Produktion. Each side of the LP comprises one long track. In 1972, Ash Ra Tempel teamed up again with Klaus Schulze during the recording of Walter Wegm?ller's Tarot album, and after one of the recording sessions, Ash Ra Tempel members Enke, G?ttsching and Rosi, together with Klaus decided to "play it again" in a late-night session. This recording led to the birth of Join Inn, as well as two legendary last concerts in February 1973 in Paris and Cologne. Manuel G?ttsching recalls Hartmut Enke on bass and Klaus Schulze on drums being a dream-team rhythm section for him to play his guitar, especially here to hear on "Freak'n' Roll", that was ingenious and not to replace ever since. It was the last recording ever where Klaus Schulze played the drums. Join Inn marks the end of the collaboration with Klaus Schulze. However, together with Ash Ra Tempel, their eponymous first album, it is considered a highlight of the Krautrock movement.

GRUPO AMIGOS Paloma Mensajera LP
Paloma Mensajera (featuring members of New Juggler Sound/Laghonia) shows the shift that was taking place within Peruvian rock away from psych and hard rock which had predominated during the early '70s. The style adopted by Grupo Amigos (and other bands and artists during this period) highlights the influence of soft rock, UK, US and Latin American folk rock and, above all, the desire to keep the melodic greatness of The Beatles alive. The positive reception albums by artists such as We All Together, Telegraph Avenue, and Zulu garnered between 1972 and 1975, marked a change of paradigm and in preferences within the Peruvian rock scene. Eclecticism gained new ground, to the detriment of the sectarian and orthodox, while melody grew more present and visible, moving away from the progressive experimentation that typified underground Peruvian rock up to the beginning of the '70s. For their first single on MAG, included on this reissue, the band adopted a formula in which Beatles harmonies converged symmetrically with folk motifs. "Dirty Girl" was a hit on the radio. A full album followed but only a fairly small number of copies of the album were pressed, which seems to have been the main reason for omitting it from the historical accounts of Peruvian rock music from the late '90s onwards. In Paloma Mensajera all compositions were penned by the group, after several years during which cover versions were a staple. Some of the musical resources that the band had at their disposal in terms of composition and arrangements are striking and even surprising, considering that they were a debut band, whose members were under the age of 20. The arrangements included the clever use of a Moog synthesizer which had just arrived at the MAG studio. The success achieved by the Beatles tribute performances played by the members of Grupo Amigos for decades have eclipsed the songs that Edmundo, Andr?s Da Ros, and Sim?n Ames composed with youthful enthusiasm and energy between 1972 and 1973 to the point where they have almost been forgotten. This re-release of Paloma Mensajera should help rectify this major injustice. It includes bonus tracks and extensive liner notes.

ESKORBUTO Anti Todo LP
1985 was a landmark year for punk rock in the Basque country, and possibly for the whole of Spain. Punk merged with the Basque Radical Rock (Rock Radikal Vasco or RRV) movement, although this was not necessarily always the case. For instance, Eskorbuto invariably kept their distance from the movement and everything related to it. Hardship was part and parcel of Eskorbuto's life and musical career. All their albums were recorded in the shortest time imaginable, partly due to tight budgets (studios were expensive, labels were close-fisted), and partly because Josu and Jualma needed to spend the money on other things. When it came to recording Anti Todo, Eskorbuto stuck to what they did best: hitting the studio with as much raw energy, provocation, inspiration, and natural talent as possible. It was their best record and the question is: what would Eskorbuto have been capable of if they had more time, a bigger budget, and tighter control? The song "Tamara" was practically composed on the spot in the studio in less than two recording days, as was much of "Ha llegado el momento." The experienced sound technician did an outstanding job, but a new remastering for this rerelease has given the album the richer, more vibrant sound it always deserved. Listeners can once again enjoy the urgency, simplicity, and rage of this refreshed Anti Todo, a true classic in musical history, originally released in 1985 at Eskorbuto's peak of their creativity and energy. This edition of the album includes a large poster and insert with notes.

MONKS, THE Black Monk Time LP
Released exclusively in Germany in March 1966, Black Monk Time by The Monks has become a cult classic -- praised as a groundbreaking forerunner to punk and krautrock. From the explosive opener "Monk Time" to the fierce "Complication," Black Monk Time rejected flower power for something more urgent -- anger, humor, and innovation developing a confrontational, rhythm heavy sound. Though the album was overlooked at the time, its bold sound and sharp lyrics have earned it lasting influence and critical acclaim. The Monks were five American G.I.s stationed near Heidelberg, West Germany. Originally performing as a typical beat group under the name the 5 Torquays, they evolved into something far more radical. After discovering guitar feedback by accident and embracing a raw, percussive approach, they caught the attention of two German ad men -- Walther Niemann and Karl Remy -- who became their managers and helped reinvent their identity. Dressed in monks' robes with tonsured hair and noose neckties, the band developed a confrontational, rhythm heavy sound. Their sole studio album, produced by Jimmy Bowien and recorded in Cologne in late 1965, defied musical norms. At the time, Polydor Records deemed the music too radical for American audiences, delaying its U.S. release. Despite its initial commercial failure, the album is now seen as a pivotal moment in rock history -- loud, strange, and unapologetically ahead of its time. The Monks' story is as unlikely as their sound: five ex-soldiers and two ad executives creating one of the most daring records of the '60s. The band never sparked the revolution they hinted at, but decades later, Black Monk Time still resonates. This is your chance to experience the album that dared to be different -- don't miss it. Remastered sound from the tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl.

VA Joropop: Psych Pop & Folk in Venezuela, 1968-1976 LP
Welcome to a kaleidoscopic picnic where you can feast on a music scene that was rich, sparkling, multi-colored, ground-breaking and it'll blow your mind. A prodigious soundscape that blends the Caribbean and the Amazon sophistication and flavors; raw yet delicate textures. Joropop: Psych Pop & Folk in Venezuela, 1968-1976 features infectious Latin rock rhythms and timeless folk melodies across 15 ultra-rare tracks -- most of which have never been reissued until now. The golden age of Caracas pop started in 1965. It replaced the wave of cloyingly romantic song writing as fresh talents leant into richer and more complex styles: folk-rock, psychedelia, soul, hard blues, symphonic pop, Latin rock etc. Singer-songwriters, experimental electric guitars and jam sessions all appeared on the scene, creating music that became increasingly refined and free. The industry took a while to catch on to this new trend and leave behind the teen idols and dream lifestyles. By the late '60s, there was a long list of new bands in the capital city. Young people finally found their voice. Featuring El Zigui Y Una Luz, Grupo Espiga, Grupo Syma, La Fe Perdida, Ladies W.C., Los Fabricantes De Mu?ecas, Los Memphis, La Cuarta Calle, Grupo C.I.M., Grupo Pan, Los Rangers, Los Chicos Malos, Ciruela, The Four Blues, and La Cuarta Calle.

AL KARPENTER Greatest Heads LP
"Greatest Heads is the fourth album by the radical Basque-Berlinesque group Al Karpenter. A deconstruction of structured 'rock' music, here Al Karpenter re-imagine 'the band' to explore the intersection between free music, Afro-beat, the avant garde and gonzo rock. ?lvaro Matilla, Marta Sainz, Enrique Zaccagnini, and Mattin's response to the planet's slipping into a vortex of hate is to create a music ecstatic, a music of protest bursting with multiple musical languages and glossaries, full of overlapping histories and thrilling tensions. Greatest Heads posits a plurality of musics both in opposition and intertwined: Al Karpenter play rock instruments pulled apart in the studio in post-production. Distorted rhythm chunks bit-crushed and dissipated, segments of freedom oppressed by waves of sound invading from every direction. The interplay between the chief instrumentalists and renowned, storied sound artist Mattin creates something akin to ESP freedom-seekers Cro Magnon playing in Miles Davis' early '70s groups, The Los Angeles Free Music Society tightening up into a clenched fist of plunderphonics and runaway percussion. The modulating synth sound soon sucks the band into its wake to create a spine-chilling climax of distorted sound, made fully orgasmic with mastering engineer Rashad Becker's attention to detail. The band's cascading layers of references and polyglottal musics attempt to create the perfect lover, alive with rage and disorientating ecstasy: Al Karpenter."

ORCHESTRA GOLD Dakan LP
"With their boldest release to date, Orchestra Gold unveils Dakan -- a transcendent new album exploring the intertwined forces of destiny and passion. Guided by the visionary vocals of Malian singer Mariam Diakit?, Dakan is a sonic and spiritual journey: rooted in tradition, driven by intuition, and lit ablaze with psychedelic energy. Mariam's lyrics draw deeply from her devotion to the baye fall tradition -- a mystical branch of West African Sufism that favors direct experience of the divine over doctrine. Her voice doesn't just sing -- it 'channels.' Psychedelic rock collides with Malian soul in a sonic ritual where fate dances with free will."

TALABOT, JOHN Fin LP
2025 repress; LP version. While staying true to his sound, John Talabot has nevertheless shown a constant evolution as a producer since his first release. He has traced a solid musical path that has turned him into one of the big references of European house and has made him also a highly in-demand remixer. This progression now crystallizes in Fin, his first full-length album for Permanent Vacation -- a record in which the Barcelona mastermind sets aside danceable immediacy to expand his stylistic palette more than ever. For that purpose, Talabot melts all the elements that have constructed his distinctive sound until now and makes them emerge from a new perspective in which the construction of complex song structures, intricate rhythms and super-positions of ever-evolving melodies and atmospheres pick up the baton of the "a kick-drum and a sampler" philosophy of his initial productions. The result brings us 11 tracks dominated by dark ambiances, gaseous textures and bittersweet moods that, above all, reveal a kind of vivacity that's really hard to find in contemporary electronics. Fin is far from being a track collection. From the majestic opener "Depak Ine" to its solemn ending with "So Will Be Now," one of the two tracks that features Talabot's soul- and label- mate Pional, each song traces an overall dialogue with the rest, culminating in a highly emotional journey through Talabot's always compelling and unique musical vision. "Talabot has become an exemplar of a new breed of producers working at the intersection of deep house, disco, and indie pop, and he has carved out his own niche somewhere between the slow-motion theatrics of artists such as Mark E and Tensnake, the globe-trotting jewel tones of Four Tet and Caribou, and the psych-pop rush of Animal Collective and Delorean." --Pitchfork (8.5; "Best New Music")

AGENT ORANGE Living In Darkness LP
2025 repress. Adventurous southern California punk trio Agent Orange was the first band to mix surf rock with punk. The group was formed in1979 in Placentia, a small town close to Fullerton and Anaheim, by front man Mike Palm on guitar and lead vocals, Steve Soto on bass, and Scott Miller on drums. That early line-up recorded the classic version of "Bloodstains" in 1979 as a demo produced by Daniel R. van Patten (of the group Berlin). A year later it was included on the seminal Rodney On The Roq compilation album released by Posh Boy Records. Meanwhile, James Levesque had replaced Steve Soto (Adolescents) and the new line-up released their own self-produced and self-released 7" EP in 1980. A year later, the group signed with Robbie Fields' Posh Boy Records for their debut LP, Living In Darkness, co-produced by Fields and former Simpletones guitarist, Jay Lansford. The album was recorded at Brian Elliot's store front studio in North Hollywood (a few years before Elliot struck gold writing Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach"). A milestone in California punk rock history. Includes five bonus tracks. Black vinyl.

HOG Blackhole CD
"Hailing from the Central Valley of California, H?G's founding member Daniel moved to Portland in 2018 and formed the group, releasing an EP with the initial lineup in 2022. In early 2024 it was announced that Portland locals and friends Adam and Bobcat would join ranks, and they went to work playing shows and developing their upcoming debut album, Blackhole. While H?G aligns with the familiar tones and rhythm of heavy rock n roll of the 1970s, this group is by no means derivative. Their collective influences and backgrounds of punk and metal that encourage steady experimentation, along with what Daniel identified as 'the dirty bleakness that Portland embodies most of the year' allows the sound of Blackhole to stand on its own. It is dark and grimy, and best played loud. Daniel's writing occurred over two timelines, and while the lyrical content has shifted from 'optimistically defiant and lighthearted' in the early work to more serious subject matter influenced by 'the state of the world, depression, and sex' in newer songs, the execution in both live performance and studio sound does not feel disjointed. This stands as a testament to the band's membership and unity. Adam's swift cadence on the kit with Bobcat's bassline moving in waves, the low end allows Daniel to wail through every fret on his guitar while performing his lyrics in an equally wide vocal range. Recorded in the summer of 2024 in the back of Trevor Labovitz amp repair store named Arcane Amps in Portland Oregon, entirely on 2" reel tape and spanned about two months recording after hours when the shop was closed."

FULLMAN & THE LIVING EARTH SHOW, ELLEN Elemental View CD
Elemental View is a work in six movements by pioneering composer Ellen Fullman for her "Long String Instrument" and The Living Earth Show. The expansive installation inhabits an industrial sized space with 136 strings, precisely tuned and configured for this multi-movement piece. Listening to the music of Fullman's singular creation is akin to standing inside a giant musical instrument. The result is a music at once ancient and utterly new, environmental, and folk-like yet orchestral; immersing the listener in a transportive glistening atmosphere. Elemental View invites the listener to discover, as if with a magnifying glass, the details of the physics of string vibration itself. Fullman bows the instrument lengthwise with her fingertips while walking, playing multiple strings at once. As she walks, upper partial tones unfold at different rates, in proportion to differences in string length, imparting an undulating wave of continually shifting overtones. The notation for the "Long String Instrument" contains both temporal indications and spatial choreography, as specific harmonies emerge at distinct locations along the string length. Invention and discovery are at the core of Fullman's work. To produce percussive sounds on the otherwise drone-based instrument, Fullman designed and fabricated the box bow, shovelette, and shoveler, which play three, six, or nine strings at once. Varying techniques with these tools produce either open ringing tones or closed dampened ones. With their laser focused precision and virtuosic ensemble playing, The Living Earth Show brilliantly executes the rhythmic and harmonic complexity of Fullman's composition. In the movements "Environmental Memory" and "Concentrated Merry-Go-Round," Fullman incorporates Travis Andrew's primary instrument, the guitar. Andy Meyerson and Fullman accompany the guitar in duo playing box bow and shoveler. For "Surface Narrative in Four Parts," Meyerson also applies his percussion mastery to the santur, a Persian hammered dulcimer. The santur's unique tuning is derived from the extended microtonal partials of the sequence played by Fullman on The Long String Instrument.

CARAGNANO & DONATO DOZZY, ANNA Sintetizzatrice LP
2025 restock; LP version. Sintetizzatrice is the first recorded document of the collaboration between veteran DJ and producer Donato Dozzy and female vocalist Anna Caragnano. Through his solo work, and in his collaboration with Giuseppe Tilleci (Neel) as Voices from the Lake, Dozzy has achieved some of the most remarkable vistas contemporary electronic music has seen since the turn of this century. By removing himself from his areas of mastery to shift his focus on the voice, he has achieved a new peak with Sintetizzatrice. Over nine tracks, Dozzy works exclusively with the voice of Rome-based vocalist Anna Caragnano, with no other instruments. Heavy layering and effects processes are used to display an astoundingly versatile voice-centric vocabulary. Rarely can a record morph from R&B to kosmische, through traditional Italian folk music, to Fluxus styles and traditional chamber choir with no additional instrumentation. Just a singular, beautiful voice. The results are simply phenomenal. With the opening, "Introduzione," an immeasurable cosmic weight arrives and remains through the duration of the album. "Star Cloud" ascends with melancholy extended drones that evaporate concepts like time and being, rendering basic human perceptions void all the way through "Parallelo." "Parola" dances around the stereo field with dazing rhythms and melodies, while "Festa (A Mottola)" is an homage to the traditional music found in the rural region where, coincidentally, both Dozzy's mother and Caragnano were born and raised. The album's closing pieces "Love Without Sound" and "Conclusione" hit hard in a way to which no words can do justice. By fearlessly entering uncharted territories, Dozzy and Caragnano have made a collaboration which is truly experimental. Sintetizzatrice is a grand debut for Anna Caragnano and a fantastic twist for Donato Dozzy. Produced and mixed by Dozzy at Alaska Studio, Rome, in 2014. Mastered by Giuseppe Tilleci at EnissLab Studio, Rome. Transferred to tape by Pietro Micioni, Angelo Compagnoni, and Massimo Zuccaroli at Village Studio, Rome. Cut by Christoph Grote-Beverborg at Dubplates & Mastering, Berlin. Front cover painting by Angela Scaramuzzi. Cover design by Koto Hirai.

SPACEMEN 3 Dreamweapon 2LP
2025 repress. "August 1988, Spacemen 3 embark on one of the strangest events in the band's already strange history. Billed as 'An Evening Of Contemporary Sitar Music' (although consciously omitting the sitar), the group would play in the foyer of Watermans Arts Centre in Brentford, Middlesex to a largely unsuspecting and unsympathetic audience waiting to take their seats for Wim Wenders' film Wings Of Desire. Spacemen 3's proceeding set, forty-five minutes of repetitive drone-like guitar riffs, could be seen as the 'Sweet Sister Ray' of '80s Britain. Their signature sound is at once recognizable and disorienting -- pointing as much to the hypnotic minimalism of La Monte Young as to a future shoegaze constituency. On this double LP reissue, Dreamweapon is augmented by studio sessions and rehearsal tapes from 1987 that would lead up to the recording of Spacemen 3's classic Playing With Fire album. 'Spacemen Jam,' featuring Sonic Boom and Jason Pierce on dual guitar, is a side-long mediation on delicate textures and psychedelic effects. SPACEMEN 3 Taking Drugs To Make Music To Take Drugs To 2LP
2025 repress. Housed in a gatefold sleeve with download code; includes the "legendary Northampton demos from 1986". "Amidst the swirl that is Spacemen 3's discography, Taking Drugs To Make Music To Take Drugs To occupies a pivotal position -- one right at the nexus between their garage beginnings and their expansionist future. While much of this material is expanded upon via Sound Of Confusion and The Perfect Prescription, many devotees consider these urgent, minimally treated recordings as the prime document of Spacemen 3 at this stage. Taking Drugs To Make Music To Take Drugs To casts Spacemen 3 alongside the mid-80s cadre of UK front-line rockers, contributing a distinct variation of high pop shining through layered noisy guitars. Ultimately, this collection serves to exalt the strength of Spacemen 3's songwriting over the atmospherics and production assemblage that would permeate their later efforts. Be it the rave-up rendering of 'The Sound Of Confusion' or the churning take on 'Losing Touch With My Mind', these full band recordings capture the excited and inspirational spark of psychedelia rather than deep-dive ruminations on sonics and space."

BLUE LAKE The Animal LP
"Blue Lake reveals his most ambitious album yet, which finds its visionary creator Jason Dungan harnessing the collective alchemy of his band, with ten spirited tracks that resonate with a powerful directness, evoking an ecological connection to the wider world. On The Animal, Dungan introduces the use of voice as an instrument, as a way of unlocking song-like characteristics. On the gracious album opener 'Circles,' which sees the group embrace in choral unison, like in birdsong, voices echo as a part of the surrounding sonic environment. The band are fore grounded and formidable in their delivery, forming a rich, acoustic accompaniment to Dungan's zither strokes, earthy guitars and percussive patterns. The soundworld is noticeably bolder and livelier, as evidenced on 'Cut Paper,' with now regular mixing collaborator Jeff Zeigler capturing the fullness of the new band sound. Dungan also enlisted the help of Danish producer Aske Zidore who encouraged him toward new working strategies, a liberating intervention which allowed the element of surprise and discovery. The center ground is never fully consumed by Dungan as we find him consciously orchestrating from a respectful distance, giving generous space for the musician's spontaneous performance and improvisation, allowing their musical intuition to give rise to beguiling, holistic synchronicity. 'The Animal' is a form of musical metamorphosis, still acoustic, yet more amplified, elevating it to new dimensions. The Blue Lake project takes on a new lease of life to encompass collaboration with Jason Dungan bound in a universal connectivity, resulting in his most ambitious album to date. A harmonious rejoicing that cements his reputation as a transformative presence in contemporary music."

LOS ZHEROS Psychedelic Cumbia Party LP
This compilation brings together for the first time the best songs by Los Zheros, one of the most renowned cumbia bands to emerge in the early 1970s in Iquitos -- alongside groups like Los Rogers and Los Wemblers -- in the heart of Peru's Amazon capital. The unique Amazonian sound blended fast, percussive cumbia rhythms with electric guitars in a surf style -- a distinctive fusion that came to define Peruvian-recorded cumbia, markedly different from the traditional cumbia styles that developed in other cumbia-producing countries like Colombia. The album includes their psychedelic rock hit "Cuarto Oscuro," a highly sought-after track not only by cumbia collectors but also by garage and psychedelic DJs. This song also marked the beginning of their recording career in 1973. This compilation is a joint release with the Peruvian label Rey Record and comes with an insert featuring never- before-seen photos of the band, as well as liner notes by genre expert V?ctor Zela (the mind behind the prestigious project La Cumbia de mis Viejos).

RANIL Y SU CONJUNTO TROPICAL Sonido Amazonico LP
Ranil is undoubtedly the most unconventional figure among the greats of Amazonian cumbia, earning a well-deserved place alongside all the better-known iconic bands. He worked as a teacher, criollo guitarist, radio host, TV entrepreneur, and politician, but gained lasting fame as the founder of Ranil y Su Conjunto Tropical in the 1970s. By 1968, around the same time Los Destellos were making waves in Lima, groups like Los Wembler's de Iquitos and Juaneco y su Combo began electrifying cumbia in Iquitos. This new genre, dubbed Amazonian cumbia, exploded nationwide in 1973, thanks to hits by Juaneco y su Combo, Los Mirlos, and Los Wembler's. The success these bands achieved spawned dozens of other groups from the Amazon. Ranil, always a visionary, recognized the movement's potential and joined forces through his first single recorded on the Dinsa label in 1974. Unhappy with the contractual terms, he went on to found Producciones Llerena, the label on which he would release the rest of his discography. Over the years, Ranil y su Conjunto Tropical featured guitarists like L?mber Zumba and Luis Nigro, while Ranil remained the lead vocalist and bassist for group. Zumba and Nigro had already played with other regional bands and written songs for groups like Los Destellos and Los Mirlos. This compilation offers a glimpse into the vast musical output Ranil created in the late 1970s and early 1980s, bringing together 14 tracks from the band's ten LPs. These records have always been hard to come by as, despite being recorded in Lima, they were distributed by Ranil from Iquitos. Psychedelia, rock fusion, cumbia, salsa, mambo, Amazonian folk -- you'll find all these flavors blended into the vibrant, jungle-rich sound Ranil crafted.

SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE MariaKapel LP
Originally released on Ben Chasny's own Pavilion imprint in 2011. "I was invited by the Incubate Festival and the city of Tilburg to participate in an artist residency where I would explore the region's unique chapels built for the Virgin Mary. After writing the music for about six months by drawing on memories of the encounters with the chapels and using techniques inspired by Gaston Bachelard's Poetics Of Reverie, I flew back to Tilburg to perform the music at the Incubate Festival. We recorded the evening and I released the result on my Pavilion label. Each cover was hand painted white on white in the old Pavilion style. I created a stencil and used graphite powder to make the design that is inspired by the sun imagery in Athanasius Kircher diagrams. In 2010 I was approached by the organization of the Incubate Festival in the North Brabant town of Tilburg. Their request was for me to lead the American composer and guitarist Ben Chasny around a number of chapels in the province devoted to Mary. He had been invited to North Brabant to write some new compositions. Ben Chasny then chose to be inspired by these chapels and that's how we met. I was especially curious how an American would react to something as specific and small as a roadside chapel in North Brabant, since we tend to think here of (people in) America in terms of 'big-bigger-biggest'. Would an inhabitant of this enormous country with this prevailing culture be able to grasp and respect the identity of some 2.5 million people in North Brabant with their chapels? The answer to this question lies hidden in the compositions he made and that can be listened to on this album. Yes, Ben Chasny has been able to convert the phenomenon of a simple chapel devoted to Mary into music. The physical and the spiritual have found each other. What a beautiful world -- just listen!" --Paul Spapens

VA Tokyo Glow 2LP
2025 restock; double LP version. Following the recent success of the Tokyo Dreaming (WWSCD 040CD/WWSLP 040LP), Wewantsounds comes with another compelling set, this time compiled by city pop expert DJ Notoya who has dug the rich Nippon Columbia catalog to bring a breezy selection of funky gems. Nippon has amassed an incredible back catalog over the decades. Particularly strong in the '70s and '80s, the label was one of the main purveyors of great music at a time when Japan was entering its greatest economic boom and labels had budgets at hand to create the highest quality music. As Notoya explains in the liner notes "Back in the day, the record companies had big budgets and could afford to have many great musicians playing on one record, plus strings and horn sections, top drummers and keyboardists. It all made for a very rich sound, which is generally very different to today's music." Keen to emulate the music created in the US by their American counterparts, Japanese musicians came with their own blend of funk, boogie and soul that has come to be known as city pop. The selection on Tokyo Glow is full of such gems and starts with "Kimugare" a relaxed, mid-tempo track by Kumi Nakamura, famous actress who only recorded one album in 1980 for Columbia. The set continues and flows effortlessly with the sunshine grooves of Miyuki Maki, Hatsumi Shibata and cult keyboard player Hiroshi Sato before the pace starts going faster and funkier with New Generation Company, Kengo Kurozumi -- with his superb boogie, "Juggler" -- and one of the queens of the genre, Hitomi "Penny" Tohyama with "Tuxedo Connection". Tokyo-based DJ Notoya is from a new breed of Japanese DJs there focusing on nippon music and is an expert on funk, modern soul, and boogie from the Island. With Tokyo Glow, Notoya says he "focused more on the slightly more underground tracks from the era, rather than the bigger, well-known releases. For me that was a more fun and satisfying approach." Another fine example on the set is the mid-tempo groove of "I Wander All Alone Part III" by New Generation Company, an aggregate group of some of the best Japanese session musicians led by arranger Katz Hoshi and including Hiroyuki Namba, Kazuo Shiina, and Yutaka Uehara. Tokyo Glow showcases the diversity and specificity of Japanese city pop during the late '70s and '80s. Also features Haruyoshi Yamashina, Sumiko Yamagata, Makoto Iwabuchi, Arakawa Band, Kiyohiko Ozaki, Ken Nishizaki, Jadoes, Midori Hara, Mizuki Koyama, Haruo Chikada & Vibra-Tones, and Mitsuko Horie.

FONTAINE, BRIGITTE Brigitte Fontaine Est Folle 2LP
Double LP version. Wewantsounds reissues French pop icon Brigitte Fontaine's landmark 1968 album Brigitte Fontaine Est Folle, originally released on the cult label Saravah and arranged by Jean-Claude Vannier. This special, approved by the artist, features the original album, newly remastered from the original tapes, along with demos, instrumentals, and a live rendition of "Il Pleut" recorded for France Inter/ORTF. The release also includes a 20-page bilingual booklet with introductions by journalist Jeremy Allen and Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier, essays by Brigitte Fontaine's biographer Beno?t Mouchart and Benjamin Barouh, plus full lyrics and rare archival photos. Brigitte Fontaine needs no introduction. An inspiring figure in French music since the 1960s, she has long been revered by a wide array of musicians -- from Stereolab to Sonic Youth, Beck, and Jarvis Cocker. Originally released in 1968 on Pierre Barouh's cult Saravah label, Brigitte Fontaine Est Folle shattered conventions. Fusing Fontaine's lyrical brilliance -- tackling themes like death, social revolt, and female desire -- with Vannier's lush, funky arrangements, the pair created a work that was ahead of its time. The release offers a selection of rare and previously unreleased recordings, including demos -- recently unearthed by the album's composer, Olivier Bloch-Lain? -- instrumentals showcasing Vannier's skills, and a groundbreaking 1969 live rendition of "Il Pleut" recorded for France Inter/ORTF. This version features Malachi Favors on bass, forming a direct link to her next LP, Comme ? la Radio, recorded with the Art Ensemble of Chicago. Rebellious, witty and timeless, Brigitte Fontaine Est Folle is a landmark work by an artist who not only redefined French pop but also expanded its boundaries on the international scene. This deluxe edition stands as a vital document of her enduring legacy and one of the most original voices in modern music.

KAWAI, KENJI Ghost In The Shell (Original Soundtrack) LP
2025 repress. We Release Whatever The Fuck We Want Records present the ?rst ever official vinyl pressing of the soundtrack for Mamoru Oshii's critically acclaimed and all around legendary science ?ction anime ?lm Ghost In The Shell (1995), adapted from Masamune Shirow's groundbreaking manga series of the same name. The haunting score is composed by Kenji Kawai, one of Japan's most celebrated soundtrack composers alongside Joe Hisaishi and Ryuichi Sakamoto, whose work includes Hideo Nakata's Ring (1998) and Ring 2 (1999), Death Note (2006), Hong Kong ?lms Seven Swords by Tsui Hark (2005) and Ip Man by Wilson Yip (2008), and countless others. Kawai's compositions see ancient harmonies and percussions uncannily mesh with synthesized sounds of the modern world to convey a sumptuous balance between folklore tradition and futuristic outlook. For its iconic main theme "Making Of Cyborg", Kawai had a choir chant a wedding song in ancient Japanese following Bulgarian folk harmonies, setting the standard for a timeless and unparalleled soundtrack that admirably echoes the ?lm's musings on the nature of humanity in a technologically advanced world. Ghost In The Shell is widely considered one of the best anime ?lms of all time and its in?uence has been felt in the work of numerous movie directors, including James Cameron's Avatar (2009), the Wachowskis's The Matrix (1999), and Steven Spielberg's AI: Arti?cial Intelligence (2001). For fans of anime, manga, movie soundtracks, science ?ction, ambient, folklore, Japan, Akira (1988), arti?cial intelligence, Midori Takada. Cut from the original master reels at Emil Berliner Studios (formerly the in-house recording department of renowned classical record label Deutsche Grammophon).
