CAPPADONNA Solar Eclipse LP
"Cappadonna, is an American rapper. He is a member of the hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan and is a member of the hip hop group Theodore Unit together with Ghostface Killah. Cappadonna's status as a Wu-Tang member or as a featured artist has varied throughout the years, while long referred to by both the group and fans as the 'Unofficial Tenth Member'. Cappadonna's first solo effort was 1998's The Pillage which debuted and peaked at number 3 on the charts and certified Gold. His follow-up -- 2001's The Yin and The Yang -- debuted at number 51 on the charts. Staying vigilant in his support of The Clan, he then featured on over 25 releases including classics from Raekwon, Method Man, and Ghostface."

TIPPETT, KEITH At The BBC 1969-70 LP
Keith Tippett was just twenty-one when his group recorded the first of these sets for BBC's Jazz Workshop on May 21st 1969, three months before the recording of his first album, You Are Here -- I Am There. Featured on side one is the three-part "Portishead Suite," which presents three stylistically different musical portraits of three generations of the Somerset town. The first is comparatively gentle and flowing but the second portrait is more insistent, its 5/4 tempo bringing to mind themes heard on early King Crimson albums. The third portrait has something of the Caribbean in its playful rhythms. "Hail Conquering Hero" can be heard on side two, and is described by Tippett as "a jazz study of war." None of these compositions have ever appeared officially in any form. Also included on side two are two tracks from Tippett's August 1970 session for BBC Top Gear that was advertised as by Keith Tippett & Heavy Friends.

SURMAN, JOHN At The BBC 1967-68 LP
These two very different sessions involving John Surman and Mike Osborne have much in common. They both share a wonderful sense of liberation, of the joy of making music together and of finding collectively new ways of making jazz happen. And even more importantly, they speak volumes about the eclecticism and openness of British jazz in those years of the mid- to late-sixties and about the creative ambitions of John Surman. In the current absence in the market of his first LP, this is an essential purchase for Surman fans. Notes by Duncan Heining with suggestions from John Surman. These sessions have never previously appeared officially in any form.

VA Soho Scene '63 Vol 2: Jazz Goes Mod LP
Compare the best of British jazz circa 1963 with American sounds from labels such as Prestige, Tangerine and World Pacific. This album captures the period when rhythm and blues is emerging as the dominant club sound, forcing Soho jazz clubs to change their music policy in order to survive. On the British side, you've got Ronnie Scott's arrangement of "Last Minute Bossa Nova"; "Bang!," taken from Dick Morrissey Quartet's first session for the BBC's World Service, recorded around the time of the release of their first album Have You Heard? The version here is take two. "Early In The Morning" is a Ginger Baker/Jack Bruce arrangement of the traditional work song realized as a repeated blues riff, and is the first ever recording that is recognizably British Blues. Graham Bond features on alto sax along with Bruce and Baker together as members of the Johnny Burch Octet heard playing live at a BBC staff party from March 1963. Side Two features Jazz Stateside, such as West Coast guitarist Johnny Hartsman, Gene Ammons veering into proto jazz-funk on "Jungle Soul," aka "Ca' Purange," plus a couple of top notch Hammond workouts from Terrell Prude and Charles Kynard.

WILLIAMSON II, SONNY BOY Do It If You Wanta: The Best Trumpet & Checker A-sides 1951-62 LP
"There are perhaps few characters in the history of popular music who were as mysterious, as they were brazen than Aleck Ford, AKA Sonny Boy Williamson II. The true story of Sonny Boy Williamson II remains shrouded in mystery and uncertainty, and it seems this was Ford's intention, but to what ends, nobody can say. One thing is certain though -- he was one of the all-time greats of the harmonica, a bone fide bluesman, talented and charismatic in equal measure. His influence cannot be overstated. The first incarnation of the band that would become the Rolling Stones was named after him: Little Boy Blue and the Blue Boys; B.B King described him as 'the King of the harmonica;' and maybe there would have been no Howlin' Wolf, or Elmore James without Williamson's mentorship and support. The British Blues explosion of the late 1960s certainly owed much to Williamson and his compatriots. This carefully curated collection of this colorful and charismatic performer's work showcases just why he was one of the true legends of blues music. Interestingly, he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1980, the same year as Sonny Boy Williamson I. It seems fitting that even in death and in honors they were inextricably linked. This collection hones in on his work that took the world by storm during his tenure with Trumpet and Checker in the 1950's and early '60s from his iconic 'Eyesight For The Blind' through to 'One Way Out.' It is a true celebration of one of the most mysterious characters in music."

DIDDLEY, BO Say Man! The Singles & More 1955-62 LP
"They called him the Originator for a very good reason. Bo Diddley was the foremost bridge between blues and rock 'n' roll, facilitated in no small part by his 'Bomp ba-bomp bomp, bomp bomp' sound, the famous 'Bo Diddley beat.' He was a master of invention too, inventing his name, his persona and style, and his own guitar. Put simply, he was one of those artists whose importance and influence as a pioneer of popular music far outweighed the commercial and chart success he enjoyed during his career. With just nine U.S. R&B and two Pop chart successes across a career spanning five decades, Diddley was not exactly a hit-making machine. But his legacy is such that echoes of his music pervade rock, pop and hip-hop to this day. This LP revels in Diddley's guitar genius and features 16 of his greatest and most iconic tracks including 'I'm A Man,' 'Diddley Daddy,' 'Pretty Thing,' 'Mona,' 'Say Man' and 'Road Runner.' Once he had scored his first No. 1 with 'Bo Diddley' the shape of popular music changed forever. His influence is clear to see, through some of the work of artists -- and Diddley devotees -- like Buddy Holly, the Rolling Stones, Johnny Otis, Cliff Richard, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, U2, and George Michael. Every time a song uses the 'Bomp ba-bomp bomp, bomp bomp' motif, Diddley's legacy lives on."

HOOKER, JOHN LEE Boogie Chillen': The Early Years 1948-62 LP
"John Lee Hooker, known as 'The King of the Boogie' and 'the Boogie Man,' was a true blues icon. Quality rather than quantity is the key to Hooker's singular success. He did not have a huge number of hits in the R&B chart, but those that did make a major impact would provide some of the key musical architecture for future blues and rock artists. When he came to prominence in the late '40s, he was playing blues in a way that was regarded as somewhat spare, his dark repetitive vocals supported only by his amplified guitar and his stamping foot. His was no overnight stardom. Having paid his dues over many years, once he started recording, he did so prolifically. This fine collection of his earlier songs demonstrates Hooker's blues virtuosity while at the same time establishing his work as a signpost to a deeper understanding of the British Blues explosion. It features a host of early hits including the iconic No. 1's 'Boogie Chillen'' and 'I'm In The Mood,' alongside 'Hoogie Boogie,' 'Hobo Blues,' 'Crawlin' King Snake,' 'Dimples,' 'No Shoes,' and, naturally, the timeless 'Boom Boom.'"

VA Oonops Drops Vol. 3 LP
Named after the Latin word for the humble house spider, Oonops started his career as a club DJ in the early 2000s and has been collecting and playing strictly vinyl ever since. In 2013, he started his own radio show Oonops Drops, a monthly mixtape-style show featuring a host of international top DJs, broadcast on Brooklyn Radio in New York City. This show inspired the first volume of this compilation, which was released in early 2018 on Agogo Records, alongside the album and 7-inch releases featuring artists from his radio network. Then, Oonops finally founded his own sustainable music label bearing the eponymous name. Now, just in time for the 200th episode of his Brooklyn Radio show, Oonops returns to Agogo Records with Vol. 3, which is packed with favorites and rare gems discovered through his extensive community of like-minded collaborators. OUTER WORLDS JAZZ ENSEMBLE The Karman Line CD
Fresh off the back of the successes of Work Money Death, The Flying Hats, and The Library Archives: Volume 4, ATA Records presents The Karman Line by Outer Worlds Jazz Ensemble. When musicians are on tour conversations naturally turn to music. Whilst exploring the jazz kissas and record stores of Tokyo, woodwind maestro Chip Whickham and ATA mastermind and bassist Neil Innes discussed their shared influences of Yusef Lateef, David Axelrod, and Alice Coltrane. The seeds for a new project were sown and soon seven tracks of deep, spiritual, groove driven jazz were laid down and on tape. The moods of the album are varied yet share a sense of reverence and exploration. On "Karmen Cantala" and "All Is," Chip's flute floats and soars, propelled by dreamlike harp and waves of impressionistic piano. "Low Orbit" takes things in a funkier direction, with Steve Parry's horn arrangements (including the unusual instrumentation of bassoon, French horn and tuba) channeling 1970s Quincy Jones and the loping swagger of Archie Shepp's "Mama Too Tight." "The Celestial Matari" and "Molecules" recall the flowing, cosmic sounds of Joe Henderson and Alice Coltrane's masterpiece The Elements, and "Earthly Elements" gets earthy indeed. Driven by a heavy, dance-floor bass line and an array of percussion, Chips flute gets huskier, dirtier and more insistent, drawing deep from Yusef Lateef's Psychicemotus and Roland Kirk's Blacknuss.

RUSSELL, ARTHUR Love Is Overtaking Me (Redux) 2LP
"On what would have been Arthur Russell's 75th birthday, Audika Records presents a remastered/redux double vinyl rerelease of the much-beloved compilation Love Is Overtaking Me of Arthur's folk, pop, and country songs including 'Planted a Thought,' 'Close My Eyes' and 'I Couldn't Say It To Your Face.' Originally released in 2007 the redux edition includes new masters from a recently found pristine tape reel and was remastered by Timothy Stollenwerk at Stereophonic Mastering in Portland, OR. Revised artwork by Molly Smith with extensive liner notes from Arthur's partner Tom Lee. Over twenty years ago, Audika Records began compiling and releasing the exceptionally varied, long sought-after music of Arthur Russell, and in the process has succeeded at helping the beloved, late artist find the broader audience he always believed he would reach. A new generation of listeners and critics has come to appreciate Russell as a visionary and an influence upon a broad range of today's most compelling musical artists. While much critical and popular affection for Russell's music has come about well after his untimely death from AIDS in 1992, many fellow artists believed in his genius and were drawn to collaborate with him during his lifetime. The legendary producer John Hammond (Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen) recorded Russell on several occasions; a number of these recordings now heard on Love Is Overtaking Me, along with songs recorded with various incarnations of The Flying Hearts, a group formed by Russell and Ernie Brooks whose shifting lineup included, by turns, Jerry Harrison, Rhys Chatham, Jon Gibson, Peter Gordon, and Peter Zummo as well as Larry Saltzman and David Van Tieghem. Several other Russell projects are represented on Love Is Overtaking Me, including The Sailboats, Turbo Sporty, and Bright & Early. Compiled from over eight hours of material, Love Is Overtaking Me reaches back further to Russell's earliest compositions beginning in 1973 and spans forward to his very last recordings, made at home in 1991. Several of the songs featured prominently in Matt Wolf's now herald 2008 film Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell."

GHEDI, JIM Wasteland (Red Vinyl) LP
Red color vinyl. Third album from Sheffield folk artist blending traditional songs and original compositions to remarkable effect. 180gram heavyweight black vinyl with download code and gatefold sleeve. On his new album Wasteland, Jim Ghedi has created something huge. Intense, brooding, bold, at times apocalyptic, and remarkably vast. A profoundly bold sonic statement that is some of the most rich, far-reaching and ambitious work that Ghedi has created to date -- pushing the boundaries of what folk music can be. Recorded over two years at Tesla Studios in Sheffield, with David Glover engineering and producing, it also features a wide cast of musicians such as David Grubb (fiddle), Daniel Bridgwood-Hill (fiddle), Neal Heppleston (bass), Joe Danks (drums), Dean Honer from I Monster (synths), Cormac MacDiarmada from Lankum (vocals), Ruth Clinton from Landless (vocals), and Amelia Baker from Cinder Well (vocals). Wasteland is a record that is unafraid to plunge into the darkness of the modern world and embrace the weirder, edgier and more unnerving moments that come from doing so. It is an album that captures all the enormity of life from the micro to the macro, zooming in on the personal as well reflecting on broader societal issues. As with previous albums, such as 2018's A Hymn for Ancient Land and 2021's In the Furrows of Common Place, Ghedi uses traditional folk songs as a means to explore contemporary issues via modern and experimentally-leaning music. Lead single "Wasteland" is a stunning piece of work that while rooted in an environment being corrupted and broken. The decision to incorporate more fuller sounds, such as electric guitar and huge drums, results in a notable shift and evolution in tone for Ghedi. What Ghedi has done in creating his masterpiece is construct a remarkable space where deeply intimate and personal feelings coexist with reflections on environment, place and society, while also interweaving historical context via traditional songs. Wasteland is as much of a world to explore and exist in as much as it is an album, with Ghedi carving out his distinctly unique sonic language and voice to explore that singular environment.

HABEL, JUNI Evergreen In Your Mind CD
Evergreen In Your Mind, the new and third album from Norwegian singer-songwriter Juni Habel, exists in two worlds at the same time. Songs were recorded in quiet corners of her home, on the piano in the school where she works, and it uses the physical world around her to provide percussion. It also takes place, as she herself attests, within a dream; an imagined place in which her desire for oneness with each other and the world is finally realized. Evergreen In Your Mind was recorded with co-producer Stian Skaaden. It is Habel's first album in three-years, following the breakthrough success of 2023's Carvings LP. Formed of eleven new recordings, the songs here remain delicate, with Habel's voice playing an elegant lead role. Small shifts in Habel's sound result in a notable stride forward. More focus went into the groove of these songs. Playfulness was embraced and, perhaps most importantly, patience played a fundamental role in shaping the album with time and care given to every element of these songs. The extra time that was given to the project gave Juni the space to nurture her creativity. She would read and listen to music, hike into the hills, place herself within nature and seek out stillness. Not as a deviation from her work but as a fundamental part of the process. It's a search for connection, and it's a recurring theme across Evergreen In Your Mind. The album's title-track and fist single feels indicative of this narrative. A gorgeous, delicate folk song, it finds Habel out in the woods, hiding from real life, caught in the space between the natural world and the pull of modernity. The album cover also adds shimmer: a striking photograph of Juni among the mountains, it was taken on a day trip to Rondane, a five-hour drive each way from her home.

BOLBEC Foutu Felin LP
The Bolbec duo return with their sophomore album Foutu Félin, a richly cinematic collection of instrumental music that unfolds like an imaginary soundtrack, melodic, tactile and transportive. The record is inspired as much by the cut-and-paste production techniques of Portishead and the Beastie Boys as by the legendary composers of le cinéma français and il cinema italiano. Following directly from their debut Victime De L'aube, Foutu Félin feels like a continuation rather than a departure, a second reel instead of a reset. Axel Concato and Barth Corbelet each wrote five pieces independently, deliberately exploring as instinctively and introspectively as possible before reshaping their embryonic ideas together into bigger, brighter compositions, uncovering hidden humor along the way. Cinema remains Bolbec's primary language. Barth points to Alberto Iglesias as a key influence, while Axel draws inspiration from the melodic logic of film scores from the '60s to the '80s, where characters carried themes and melody mattered as much as atmosphere. In contrast to contemporary soundtrack trends that prioritize texture over tune, Bolbec consciously foreground melody, harmony and rhythm in search of a personal musical signature. Much of Foutu Félin was sketched at home before being taken to Fish Factory Studio in the UK, where musicians were encouraged to interpret and improvise freely. Performances were then carefully edited and reshaped, closer in spirit to cut-and-paste production than traditional jazz recording. Feel consistently took priority over technical perfection. Returning players Tim Giles, Riaan Vosloo, Ross Stanley, and Gareth Lockrane are joined by saxophonist James Allsop, whose contribution became a defining surprise, notably on "Ponto Final." Additional recordings were completed in Rouen, with final mixes by Axel mastered by Sean Joseph in Bristol, whose sense of warmth and acoustic space helped shape the album's sound. Ultimately, Foutu Félin confirms Bolbec's identity. Music that feels like the beginning of a story. Less theatre, more cinema. Close your eyes, the film is already rolling.

SOCIETE ETRANGE Heat CD
With Heat, Société Étrange extends its work around repetition, groove and cyclic structures, shaping an instrumental music that is both hypnotic and enveloping. Without any radical shift, the Lyon-based trio subtly moves towards more melodic and more cinematic forms, revealing warmer, more textured and sometimes more luminous atmospheres. Formed by Antoine Bellini (electronics), Romain Hervault (bass) and Jonathan Grandcollot (drums), Société Étrange builds here a more diffuse trance, driven by generally slower tempos than on Chance (BJR 075CD, 2022). Organic drums interact with drum machines and layers of synthesizers, while the bass carries both pulse and melodic lines. The music breathes more, leaving space for silences and micro-variations, and unfolds as an immersive listening experience. With Heat, the band explores a strange form of instrumental pop, without formats or choruses, nourished by an imaginary close to soundtracks and narrative electronic music. A warm and hypnotic album, where repetition becomes texture, tension turns into atmosphere, and each track draws its own sonic landscape.

COCANHA Flame Folclore LP
LP version. With Flame Folclòre, Cocanha continues reclaiming Occitan folklore as a living, political and embodied space. For Lila Fraysse and Caroline Dufau, folklore is neither decoration nor nostalgia. It is a site of struggle, where narratives, identities and imaginaries are constantly renegotiated. Drawing from fragments of traditional Occitan music, the duo composes, reshapes and rewrites. Ancient melodies intertwine with original texts in a contemporary language that echoes both subversive Occitan memories and present-day struggles. The voice becomes a chronicle of now, a way of inhabiting the present. Driven by hypnotic polyphony and the deep pulse of stringed tambourines, the album embraces a minimal, physical and grounded aesthetic. Repetition acts as propulsion, dance as function. Cocanha's practice is collective by nature: to gather, to move, to fuel a joyful struggle around reclaiming the commons. Produced by Raül Refree, Flame Folclòre intensifies the dialogue between memory and transformation. Voices strike, revolve and respond, opening a circular space where folklore is no longer frozen but alive and burning in the present.

NANA, YASSINE Modern Pop from Mauritania (1984-1989) CD
This compilation brings together eight tracks by Yassine Nana and his group, recorded between 1984 and 1989, during a key moment in Mauritania's musical history. A central figure of one of the country's most respected musical families, Yassine stands at the crossroads of a long-standing tradition and a period of deep transformation in form, sound and production. Recorded in Mauritania as well as during stays in Paris and Rabat, these songs integrate drum machines, synthesizers and electric guitars into Saharan musical structures. Influenced by reggae, soul and new wave, the group develops a sound that reflects the circulation of music and technology in the 1980s, while remaining firmly rooted in Mauritanian languages, themes and melodic systems. Love, travel, exile and music itself run through lyrics sung in Hassaniya and classical Arabic. Originally released on cassette and long confined to local circulation, these recordings offer a rare perspective on African popular music of the period, seen from Nouakchott. A body of work that documents a Mauritanian modernity, both popular and exploratory, now brought back into circulation by Les Disques Bongo Joe and Sofa Records.

FARQUHAR, JW The Formal Female LP
2026 restock. 180 gram exact repro reissue of this absolutely insular, deranged private press masterpiece. Previously reissued by Shadoks (with full color artwork, as intended). JW Farquhar recorded this on 4-track alone in his apartment in 1972 after ending a 10-year marriage. The songs are part of a "rock opera" and are "written as an outcry against the materialistic nature of the woman." "...it's a fascinating slice of ambitious, primitively lo-fi private press psych with an extreme lonesome/marginalized edge and some great fuzz and F/X. There are points where he gets into a whole schizophrenic exchange between two characters, one of whom talks in a weird fucked-up cartoon monster style, that almost makes you think of James Ferraro's 'Lamborghini Crystal' broadcasts but the rest of the album is just great basement/loner jams with a huge fucking chip on their shoulder, just the way we like 'em." --Kicktokill

DEAD FINKS New Plastik Abyss LP
New Zealand born Dead Finks are on their way back with a fourth record, one that maintains their trademark blend of hysterical cynicism and strident earnestness. Their propulsive, often abrasive sound of their previous records has now been tempered somewhat by shimmering guitars, hyper-melodic vocal lines and an increased emphasis on clarity and dynamics that absorbs classic pop songwriting, shoegazy textures and avantgarde art-music into their canon. The band started gaining traction in 2021 when the video for their single "(My Human) Extinction" premiered on the taste-making Harakiri Diät channel, becoming a modest hit in underground punk circles. They gained further attention after being hand-picked by Detroit post-punk stalwarts Protomartyr to support several dates of their 2022 EU tour, and went on to support Dry Cleaning on the entire European leg of their 2023 world tour.

FAUST The Faust Tapes LP
2026 restock; LP version. Reissue, originally released in 1973. There's something perversely fabulous about the thought of this warped masterwork wandering into 60,000 unsuspecting British homes in 1973. Faust's second-and-a-half album hit the shops to celebrate their signing to the nascent Virgin Records, who were looking to take advantage of the zeitgeist for German music at that time. Undeterred by the fact the band's unwillingness to engage with the commercial landscape had seen them dropped from Polydor, Branson and co. cooked up a suitably spectacular marketing strategy, selling the LP for 49p, the bargain price of a single. What was lurking within the grooves was a condensed collage of outtakes, oddities, sketches and samples previously known to the band's nearest and dearest as The Faust Party Tapes -- and how you wish you'd been to those parties. Cacophonous keys and roaring drones splinter into a deranged hybrid of tumbling toms and yelping vocals; committed experimentalism which in no way prepares you for the beautiful ballad which follows. Armed with acoustic guitar, playful piano and panning vocals, Faust fashion a pastoral idyll imbued with the most profound yearning. "Flashback Caruso" brims with Byrds-ian jangle and Syd's psychedelia, its non-sensical English lending the piece a Confucian lyricism perfect for expanded minds. Sliced and spliced between TV snippets, dissonant trumpet and the sound of someone pissing, the utterly freaky fuzz-rock of "J'ai Mal Aux Dents" sounds positively radio-friendly, far less far out than if it were encountered alone. Compared to the non-musical madness beside it, this thrash-jazz trance dance makes perfect sense, as does the corrosive breakbeat of "Two Drums, Bass, Organ", a mutant funk workout which rivals Can in an all-German dance off. The progressive and symphonic "Dr. Schwitters", dissected by fragments of dissonant process music, haunted vocal takes and the proto-industrial grind of "Elerimomuvid", charts a course for the dark side of the moon more suited to the serious cosmonauts of the world. Then the record freefalls into disorienting drum workouts, mixing desk experiments and a wicked premonition of no-wave jazz ("Hermann's Lament") before taking slight respite in the beauty of "Rudolf Der Pianist" and "I've Heard That One Before". The particles of prepared piano, power tools and tape echo continue to cascade through the soundspace, gradually building into the final trilogy of "Stretch Out Time", "Der Baum" and "Chère Chambre", which return to conventional song structure, albeit in the group's typically twisted style. Once again though, in comparison to the wonderfully weird pieces which precede them, these three tracks are entirely accessible, and in this lies the brilliance of the album.

G-MAN Moonbase Alpha 2LP
Double LP is presented on 140gm black vinyl in a transparent gloss foil sleeve, artwork and design by Ian Anderson for Designers Republic. Circuitry Electronic launches with a release that stands as a statement of intent -- an artist with few true peers within English electronic music, with an album that jumps out of the speakers and slaps you around the chops. G-Man is Gez Varley -- one half of Sheffield pioneers LFO, and thirty years into his solo career, with his first vinyl album release since Avanti on Force Inc way back in 2002. Their eponymous track "LFO" -- a classic of the bleep and bass techno movement -- was one of the first releases on the Warp label, gate- crashing the UK's Top 20. Having worked with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Karl Bartos, Laurent Garnier, Art of Noise, Radiohead, YMO, and Alan Wilder, in addition to the LFO output, you'd expect Gez to know his way around a techno dancefloor rhythm and drum pattern, and this is an inventive funk-filled journey that never veers too far into experimental territory yet avoids the cliches and generic tropes that too often lose the listener when techno manifests in album form. As the inaugural release on the Circuitry Electronic label this album plugs all the right sockets; stay close for further electronic expansions on the theme on the label in the coming months.

COIL Backwards (White Vinyl) 2LP
2026 restock, last copies. White vinyl version. Cold Spring marks a decade since the label first released Coil's landmark album Backwards, with a special 10-year anniversary vinyl reissue. After the ground-breaking release of 1990's Love's Secret Domain album, Coil were not dormant; the main project was Backwards, which was started in 1992, updated considerably between 1993 and 1995, and transferred in 1996 to New Orleans, where it was finished in the magic of the Nothing studios of Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails). The album saw the fruition of Jhonn Balance's recent vocal coaching, producing haunting, passionate vocals, while reaching new heights. 23 years after its initiation, these tracks have been beautifully preserved by Danny Hyde and are finally available in highest quality audio. Differing substantially from the later, remixed incarnation, "The New Backwards" (2008), Backwards contains the original versions of Coil's much-loved tracks; "A Cold Cell" and "Fire Of The Mind," which have appeared on various compilations over the years, and are now presented as originally intended. This album is the essential bridge between LSD and the later "Musick To Play In The Dark" series. It is an essential conduit, to understand the journey that was taken. 180g heavyweight vinyl in a gatefold matt-laminate sleeve with silver detail.

REAM, KIT All That I Am LP
Weirdos, or so they said. A long-term psychological state. Music -- not merely in the underground -- has suffered from the disease, perhaps giving birth to illustrious actors, from Syd Barrett to Daniel Johnston, all the way thru Wild Man Fischer (produced by Frank Zappa!). Kit Ream was more than an outsider, he just released one single album in 1978, a private press which gathered enthusiastic comments from the psych folk aficionados. Hopefully labeled as a compelling mix of soft jazz and new-age hippy philosophy, this ultra-rare opus is finally back in print for the all outpatients out there!

GINGER WIZARD The Curious Flora and Fauna of the Ancient World LP
Crypt of the Wizard presents Ginger Wizard's The Curious Flora and Fauna of the Ancient World. In the 2010s, in a record store in Prague, the Ginger Wizard discovered a copy of Bo Hansson's Lord of the Rings LP. Although initially unfamiliar with the record, the reference to Tolkien's masterwork and the incredible cover art drew him in and, rather fittingly, sent him off on a journey of discovery that would reshape his creative trajectory. Years later while working in cassette tape manufacturing, Ginger Wizard noticed that most fantasy-inspired music fell into two camps: metal and dungeon synth. With little interest in the former, but intrigued by the latter, he began writing a few songs imagining a beautifully packaged and tactile cassette tape. So began the Ginger Wizard's own mythological discography. Drawing inspiration from Popol Vuh and the inclusion of vocals lent by Protomartyr's Joe Casey and Jakob Battick, a new more cinematic sound began to emerge. Now comes The Curious Flora and Fauna of the Ancient World marking a step into something stranger while still channeling the spirit of Bo Hansson. These songs bloom, creep, and shimmer like forgotten plants under distant suns while rooted in something real and organic. Inspired by the myths of nature rather than heroic quests, it's an album that feels alive, equal parts archaeological dig and psychedelic garden.

BERGSONIST Depths LP
"Bergsonist emerges on Dark Entries with Depths, a genre-bending 12-track LP of atmospheric and rhythmic excursions. For more than a decade, Moroccan-born Selwa Abd has been using the Bergsonist moniker to examine postcolonial identity and speculative temporalities across disparate media, including sound, image, video, and installation. She is also a key figure in New York underground music, fostering mutual aid and community support through her platforms Pick up the Flow (PUTF) and BizaarBazaar. On album ASL أصل ⴰⵙⵍ, Bergsonist explored her Amazigh heritage using field recordings captured in Morocco. With Depths, her sixth LP, she continues the project of ancestral reconnection through sound. Abd notes: 'I really use making music as therapy, not as a precious act, more as an energy release that makes me feel alive.' Depths overflows with this excess of vitality. Tracks like 'Trust the Current,' 'Depths,' and 'Underwater World Pursuit' showcase her singular take on diasporic techno-futurism, where James Stinson-esque atmospherics meet Moroccan rhythms. Elsewhere, 'Again' and 'Higher' push into coldwave territory, with icy arpeggios and electroid beats dancing beneath Abd's ethereal vocals. But the dancefloor is not to be neglected: 'Breakthrough' and 'Ode to Life' spring forth with the kind of skewed peak-hour energy that only Bergsonist can bring. Artwork for Depths was designed by Eloise Leigh, and incorporates photographs by Abd and Greg Zifcak taken in Morocco. Also included is a protection poster that features an Amazigh symbol used for warding off the evil eye. Depths is an album that achieves a rare balance of elegance and DIY ethics -- it is truly an ode to life."

KINK GONG The Lisu LP
One of the longest standing figures amidst the Discrepant wolfpack, the unstoppable alias of sound collector Laurent Jeanneau returns to the fold after Tanzania II (CREP 098LP) with this 2.0 update of the celebrated The Lisu sort-of-mixtape released way back in 2014. Based on recordings of music from the Lisu communities in China and Thailand captured on site, this mix shows Gong more like a selector or DJ, restricting electronic processing to a bare minimum in order to convey different histories, places and timeframes within the same mesmerizing continuum. A respectful and deeply vivid evocation of all the richness and diversity found among the different strands of lisu music, from ceremonial vocal incantations through a chibeu string instrument "processed" in loco through saturated street speakers to moments of pure poetic radiance, The Lisu flows gracefully with the keen sense of wonder and knowledge of one of this century's most thoughtful and insightful sonic travelers.

From the psychedelic shack in Northumberland, Simon Price (kandodo) has spent two years coaxing these sounds into being, eighty minutes, four sides, each a branch reaching out from the same shimmering sonic tree. A slow unfurling of heady drift and cosmic fuzz, the sound bending like light across the equinox, refracted through delays, flanges and fuzz until it folds in on itself. Hugo Morgan (The Heads) joins on low-end duties, sending tremors through the deep ether where the basslines anchor the drift, turning the horizon to liquid and the floor to vibration Four longform trips, each a 20-minute drift through the same solar pulse seen from different angles, all refracted through a sike sonic toolbox. A headphone treat at 20,000 feet or cranked loud on the stereo. They're glimmering portals, longform meditations, head-expanding drift zones to lose yourself in, built for the hour when everything dissolves, preferably at 2AM, lights low, synapses wide open, the turntable spinning like a slow planet. Each side a transmission that captures the same essence but from a different vantage point. "Solstice" brings the march of fuzz, tremeloes pulling you under. The dub burns with the bright hum of eternal noons and shards of phased harmonics. Dubbed, delayed, distorted, this is kandodo in full expansion mode, an anural equinox, a sonic solstice, a total double dissolver. One pulse, four horizons, infinite zones. Drop the needle, watch time blur and dive deep. See you on the other side.

TAMIKREST Assikel LP
LP version. The iconic Saharan rock band's sixth album, Assikel, is by turns intimate, raw and deeply atmospheric. Recorded on analogue tape, with the band playing live and direct, the album fully captures their instinctive interplay and hypnotic presence. Songs of resistance, community and longing. Music for this moment. For two decades, Tamikrest's music has illuminated the sound, culture and conscience of the Kel Tamasheq (Touareg) people of the Sahara. Tamikrest means "connection" or "union" in Tamasheq, and the band have become one of the Kel Tamasheq's most vital voices, raising awareness of their plight while channeling experiences of exile, loss and resistance. Their sixth studio album, Assikel, which means "voyage" or "journey," shows just how far the band have come. Formed in 2006 by Ousmane Ag Mossa and Cheikh Ag Tiglia, both originally from Tinzawaten near the Mali-Algerian border, Tamikrest emerged under the influence of Tinariwen, those legendary pioneers of Ishumar guitar music. A serendipitous encounter with Glitterbeat's co-founder Chris Eckman and his group Dirtmusic at the 2008 Festival in the Desert in Mali marked the beginning of a long-standing partnership with the label -- one that has since helped bring the band to international attention. They are now an established four-piece with guitarist Paul Salvagnac, who joined in 2012, and percussionist Cédric 'Momo' Maurel, who joined a year later. Assikel marks a deliberate tonal shift. Drawing on years of touring and improvisation, the band chose to record live to analogue tape. The idea was inspired, in part, by their love of the sound created by Altın Gün's engineer/mixer Jasper Geluk. Recording took place over ten days in October 2025 at Jasper's Tone Boutique studio in Haarlem (NL), using a late-1960s 16-track tape machine. The result captures the rawness and spontaneity of the recording process, with this desire to go back to basics also extending to the album cover visuals, which were shot on film to give the artwork a grainy, timeless aesthetic. Thematically, Assikel continues Tamikrest's exploration of exile, displacement and assouf -- that untranslatable Tamasheq word encompassing nostalgia, longing and homesickness. This is, in short, music that only Tamikrest can make. Featuring Ibrahim Ag Alhabib.

LP version. SoftSun was formed in 2023 by guitarist Gary Arce (Yawning Man) and bassist/vocalist Pia Isaksen (PIA ISA). On their second album they are joined by Robert Garson on drums. The band is experimenting with sounds and are difficult to place in a specific genre. They have a style of their own with contrasts of softness and distortion, beauty and noise and emotional peaks and valleys. The music is patient, heavy and dreamy, with haunting vocals and beautiful guitars drenched in distortion and reverb over patient and thought-out drums. The songs are flowing slowly and take inspiration from both the Californian desert landscapes to the Norwegian oceans where the two founding members come from. On this second record SoftSun has developed their sound further and sound both moody, experimental, beautiful, and raw.

MONSTERNAUT Approaching Doom LP
LP version. Approaching Doom is the third album by Monsternaut, a darker and heavier representation of the band's established devotion to groovy riffs and to the point compositions. The songs took shape over several years, during which the arrival of a new drummer opened the door to more adventurous rhythms and riff ideas, pushing the band into new territory while staying true to their roots. Sonically, the album leans toward the grit and weight of early '90s metal rather than polished modern production, giving it a raw and immediate edge. Its lyrics and atmosphere follow a naturally darker direction as well, adding an extra layer of tension beneath the grooves. Recorded entirely the old-fashioned way, straight to analog tape with no digital editing, it captures the band playing as they are, relying on performance, chemistry, and feel rather than correction.

16 Forgeries Vol 1, 1972-1984 CD
There comes a point in every band's life when originality stops being a virtue and honesty takes the wheel. On their 11th long-playing record, Forgeries (72-84), 16 return to the impulse that first dragged them into loud rooms and bad ideas: the urge to steal what you love and make it semi-unrecognizable through devotion. The band have partnered with Heavy Psych Sounds Records to release a collection of covers that function less as homage and more as a possession to be given away. The artwork, rendered by the ever-amazing Marald, completes the ritual, iconic, unsettling, and unafraid. From the early '90s onward, 16 have treated covers as translations rather than as replicas, acts of tribute and emulation, filtered through distortion, fatigue, and lived experience. In the band's collective head, this album exists because these songs demanded it. In the end, Forgeries (72-84) stands as both a thank you note and a theft, a reminder that all music worth a damn is borrowed, broken, and passed on between friends. The selections on Forgeries (72-84) span eras and attitudes, unified not by genre but by necessity. Each track is a document of obsession, of influence absorbed and re-expressed without permission. Also available on black vinyl (HPS 386LP), green vinyl (HPS 386LTD-LP), and splatter color vinyl (HPS 386ULTRA-LP).

Your favorite weed sludgers are ready to come back with their fourth studio album, the aptly titled Stoned Villains, out on your beloved Heavy Psych Sounds Records. Heavy and cutting guitars, a seismic rhythm section, and Gingerzilla's voice barking out ungraceful tales of weed abuse and uncontrolled eating. The song titles perfectly describe Tons: a band that doesn't take itself too seriously and uses irony as its strong point. ELOY, JEAN-CLAUDE Gaia-Songs 2CD
Gaia-Songs (1992, revision 2015). For a soprano (or mezzo-soprano) solo and an actress voice (Sprechgesang technique) with electro-acoustic (fixed sounds). Anne-Lisa Nathan, mezzo-soprano. Helena Rüegg, actress voice. "First there's this relation between sung voices and spoken voices with regard to the electro-acoustic parts. The sung voice is quite often separated from the electro-acoustical parts accompanying it. They may sometimes overlap each other but rather briefly. Those parts often highlight octave ratios, fifth ratios, third-ratios, etc. Hence more harmonious and consonant acoustic ratios. By contrast the spoken voice fully covers the electro-acoustic parts dedicated to it and made out of more complex material. Hence more dissonant acoustic ratios turned towards noises spectrums." ELOY, JEAN-CLAUDE Faisceaux-Diffractions - Macles - Boucle et Sequence CD
A series of instrumental pieces documenting the years before the switch to the long electroacoustic compositions more characteristic of the composer. Faisceaux-Diffractions (1970) for 28 instrumentalists including a Hammond organ, and two electric guitars. Recording of the world premiere, on October 30, 1970, in Washington D.C. (USA) by the New York Contemporary Chamber Ensemble. "The instrumental ensemble is subdivided into three strongly isomorphic orchestras, allowing the treatment in the space of similar musical structures. This tone-color isomorphism allows sometimes to leave 'floating' the synchronization between the three orchestras, the conductor being able to combine the 'tiling' of the orchestras, following a large number of possibilities, but within strictly defined temporal proportions.". Macles (1966) extracts of the music of the film La Religieuse (The Nun) by Jacques Rivette. For various groups of instruments including a solo Zarb and a Cymbalum. Ensemble Musique Vivante under the conducting of Boris de Vinogradov. Zarb solo played by Jean-Pierre Drouet. "At the time of the realization of this work, in 1966, I was a teacher at the University of Berkeley, and I was trying to find a theory to unify the modal music (repetitive, with uses of fixed harmonic fields and use of notes poles, etc.) to atonal chromatic music, serial or not (variational, fluctuating, ornamented, etc.): this by directly organizing the structural blocks, and not by deducing them from a serie." Boucle et Sequence (1968) for 19 instrumentalists. Very short musical sequences for the film l'Amour fou (Mad love) by Jacques Rivette. "These two very short musics were written in 1968 at the request of Jacques Rivette for his film l'Amour Fou (Mad love), which he was shooting (Sequence is the music of the very last scene of the film -- in its original version -- when Jean-Pierre Kalfon leaves walking alone in the streets of Paris). In hindsight, they constitute a sort of 'premonition' of the writing and aesthetics, which will then be affirmed, in 1970 and 1971, with Faisceaux-Diffractions and Kâmakalâ (use of repetitive loops; mass heterophony; intervals filled in active aggregates; etc.)"

DAL FORNO, CARLA Confession CD
Confession is an album of quiet upheaval. An album about closeness that arrives late and unexpectedly. About stability rubbing up against desire. About the way friendship can suddenly tilt into something charged -- and how that charge unsettles everything around it. Where earlier work often observed from a distance, Confession turns inward. The voice is closer, warmer, less shielded. This is Carla dal Forno's fourth LP, written and recorded over several years in a small country town, in a studio housed inside a partially abandoned hospital. Long corridors, humming lights, emptied rooms -- a place built for care and waiting, now quiet enough for thoughts to echo. That stillness shapes the record: intimate, watchful, unadorned. Dal Forno sings plainly and conversationally, with an emotional precision that sharpens the everyday into something quietly unsettling. The album moves through paired states: going out and staying in, wanting and withholding, devotion and distraction. Domestic calm set against private unrest. A long-held relationship offers safety and routine, while a newer connection opens emotional fault lines -- longing, jealousy, fantasy, self-exposure. The drama here is internal, incremental, lived. Musically, Confession feels lighter on its feet than its subject matter suggests. Melodic basslines anchor the songs while guitars, harmonies, and gently off-kilter rhythms move around them. There's a looseness, even a playfulness. The album traces a subtle arc: attraction blooming where it shouldn't; obsession quietly taking hold; fantasy overtaking reality; clarity arriving slowly, sometimes painfully. Visually and emotionally, Confession returns to modest spaces: backyards, beds, night streets, overgrown paths. Like all of dal Forno's work, Confession resists clean conclusions. It doesn't moralize desire or romanticize restraint. Instead, it lingers in the in-between -- where love is stable but not total, where yearning teaches as much as it hurts, where solitude becomes a form of care. Plain-spoken but emotionally complex. Rooted and restless. Held together by bass, breath, routine, weather. An album about admitting what you feel -- and living with what that admission changes.

DAL FORNO, CARLA Confession LP
LP version. MORTAZAVI, MOHAMMAD REZA Nexus LP
Latency presents Nexus, the new solo album by virtuoso Iranian percussionist Mohammad Reza Mortazavi. Covert art by Jordan Belson. Mohammad Reza Mortazavi (b. 1979, Iran) is known for his groundbreaking work with the tombak and daf, traditional Persian drums that he has radically redefined through new playing techniques and extended vocabulary. Mortazavi began playing the tombak at the age of six. By nine, he had already outpaced his teacher and won Iran's national tombak competition -- a distinction he would earn six more times. By his early twenties, he was widely regarded as one of the foremost players of the instrument. Since then, his music has continued to evolve, embracing new forms and vocabularies beyond tradition. Following his acclaimed 2019 release Ritme Jaavdanegi, Nexus marks Mortazavi's return to Latency with a full-length album recorded entirely in Berlin. The record introduces new elements into his sound: voice, effects, and treatments never before used in his discography. These experiments serve not as departures but as further extensions of his ongoing exploration of rhythm, resonance, and transformation. Nexus refers to a point of connection or intersection, a meeting place where different energies, times, and spaces converge and transform. The cover artwork features an image by American visual artist and filmmaker Jordan Belson (1926 -- 2011). Belson's work, often referred to as "cosmic cinema" or "visual music", explores themes of consciousness, transcendence, and the infinite nature of the universe. The pairing with Mortazavi's percussive, trance-induced musical language feels immediate: two approaches to rhythm and energy, balance and harmony, coming together at a single point. Mortazavi's hypnotic live performances have been featured at renowned venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, Paris Pantheon and the Sydney Opera House. In recent years, Mortazavi's rhythmic explorations have resonated deeply with the experimental electronic music scene, leading to collaborations with artists such as Burnt Friedman and Mark Fell.

DASKAL OD 12"
Daskal debuts on DJ Tennis's Life and Death label with OD. The release marks a defining moment for the producer and composer, whose work moves fluidly between contemporary dance, film, and electronic music, and represents his first full-length statement reconnecting his compositional practice with the dancefloor. A classically trained composer with deep ties to the world of choreography, Daskal has spent recent years creating original scores for institutions including Los Angeles Dance Project and the Royal Danish Ballet, while simultaneously developing a parallel body of work across ambient and experimental electronic music. Recorded and mixed primarily using vintage hardware -- including a rare 1980s German mixer in a high-end Tel Aviv jazz studio -- OD reflects a deliberate shift away from purely atmospheric writing toward rhythm, repetition, and physicality, while retaining the precision and restraint of his compositional background.

BARBIERI & BENDIK GISKE, CATERINA At Source LP
LP version. Caterina Barbieri and Bendik Giske's At Source resounds music as wellspring, that which is essential and unknowable, and yet utterly primary. It finds two acclaimed composer-musicians building a world together in self-contained collaboration between analogue synthesis and an extended approach to the saxophone that conjures its own universe of sound. It is at once intimate and cosmic, drawing on the challenges and possibilities of their artistic exchange, tearing down technique to access all the expansive possibilities of their sonic meeting point. At Source is a document of the world of sound to be conjured when two artists strive for something together, discovering the expansions and limitations of performance by bodies and machines. It is not an exercise in assimilation, but in productive exchange and creative confrontation. It does not draw on outside energies or influences, but grapples with what there is to find in their respective playing. Barbieri and Giske first met and were enthralled by one another's performances at Kunsthaus Glarus in 2019, a meeting that spurred conversations on the power of transitions as a compositional force. Giske later contributed a rework of Fantas for Fantas Variations (Editions Mego, 2021), an ambitious undertaking to rescore Barbieri's work for his saxophone and voice, a challenge Giske had started undertaking two years prior as an ongoing practice of transcription. Giske, who was on the brink of releasing his sophomore album, Cracks, then joined Barbieri's light-years tour, which functioned as an inaugural incarnation of her newborn label and platform. Through the tour, they continued to develop material live, and this release, laid down in the studio, is true to that ever-evolving process of creation, where live feedback stays essential to the vitality of this collaborative effort. The tracks are each named with two evocative words that contain the two poles of their sound. Theirs is both abstract and cosmic, in the synth as machine undermined by Barbieri's naturalistic playing, and in Giske's continuous exploration of the symbiosis between his instrument, voice, and body. These binaries, of body and machine, posed various challenges, notably in how the stepped patterns Barbieri uses were near-impossible to translate for Giske's body to perform, and other times where mathematical resolutions were needed to sync their playing.

BEHRMAN, DAVID On The Other Ocean CD
2026 restock of the original CD version; recently awarded: 9.0 Best New Reissue on Pitchfork, Originally released on Lovely Music in 1978. David Behrman's On The Other Ocean is an improvisation by Maggi Payne and Arthur Stidfole centered around six pitches which, when they are played, activate electronic pitch-sensing circuits connected to the "interrupt" line and input ports of a microcomputer, Kim-1. The microcomputer can sense the order and timing in which the six pitches are played and can react by sending harmony-changing messages to two handmade music synthesizers. The relationship between the two musicians and the computer is an interactive one, with the computer changing the electronically-produced harmonies in response to what the musicians play, and the musicians influenced in their improvising by what the computer does. Figure In A Clearing, made a few months before On The Other Ocean, was the first piece of Behrman's to use a computer for music. For Figure, the Kim-1 ran a program which varied the time intervals between chord changes. The time intervals were modelled on the motion of a satellite in falling elliptical orbit about a planet. David Gibson's only "score" was a list of six pitches to be used in performance, and a request that he not speed up when the computer-controlled rhythm did. The timbral richness and concentrated eloquence of his playing sprang from his own sources. Personnel: David Behrman - electronics, Kim-1 microcomputer; Maggi Payne - flute; Arthur Stidfole - bassoon; David Gibson - cello. Recording engineers: "Blue" Gene Tyranny and Richard Lainhart. Charming booklet notes by David Behrman.

TUDOR, DAVID Three Works For Live Electronics CD
2026 restock. 1996 release. Originally released on Lovely Music as Pulsers / Untitled in 1984. This re-release includes an additional piece from David Tudor, Phonemes. Pulsers explores the world of rhythms created electronically by analog, rather than digital, circuitry. With analog circuitry, the time-base common to the rhythms can be varied in many different ways by a performer, and can eventually become unstable. Untitled is a part of a series of works composed in the 1970s that were developed through experiments in generating electronic sound without the use of oscillators, tone generators, or recorded natural sound materials. Composed in 1972, it was designed for simultaneous performance with John Cage's vocalization of his Mesostics Re Merce Cunningham. The work was revived in 1982, and performed with improvised vocals by Takehisa Kosugi. Phonemes was commissioned by the Merce Cunningham Dance Company for Cunningham's dance Channels/Inserts (1981), a work made both as a "filmdance" and for the stage. Phonemes employs two discrete processes which provide input source material for an array of sound modifying electronics, thus creating a multitude of outputs. David Tudor, electronics, with Takehisa Kosugi, electronic violin and vocals; produced and recorded by David Tudor, Nicolas Collins, and John D.S. Adams.

TORAL, RAFAEL Spectral Evolution LP
2026 repress; LP version. "After a two-decade interlude, Jim O'Rourke's Moikai returns with Spectral Evolution, a major new work by Rafael Toral. Making his name in the mid-1990s with influential guitar drone platters like Sound Mind Sound Body and Wave Field, Toral has never been one to rest on his laurels repeating his past glories. Since 2017, Toral's work has been entering a new phase, often still centered around the arsenal of self-built instruments developed in the Space Program, but with a renewed interest in the long tones and almost static textures of his earlier work; he has also, after more than a decade, returned to the electric guitar. Spectral Evolution is undoubtedly Toral's most sophisticated work to date, bringing together seemingly incompatible threads from his entire career into a powerful new synthesis, both wildly experimental and emotionally affecting. Toral manages the almost miraculous feat of having his self-built electronic instruments (which in the past he had seen as 'inadequate to play any music based on the Western system') play in tune. In an unexpected sidestep away from any of his previous work, the chord changes that underpin many of the episodes on Spectral Evolution are derived from classic jazz harmony, including takes on the archetypal Gershwin 'Rhythm changes' and Ellington-Strayhorn's 'Take the ʻA' Train,' albeit slowed to such an extent that each chord becomes a kind of environment in its own right. Threading together twelve distinct episodes into a flowing whole, Spectral Evolution alternates moments of airy instrumental interplay with dense sonic mass, breaking up the pieces based on chord changes with ambient 'Spaces.' At points reduced to almost a whisper, at other moments Toral's electronics wail, squelch, and squeak like David Tudor's live-electronic rainforest. Similarly, his use of the guitar encompasses an enormous dynamic and textural range, from chiming chords to expansive drones, from crystal clarity to fuzzy grit: on the beautiful 'Your Goodbye,' his filtered, distorted soloing recalls Loren Connors in its emotive depth and wandering melodic sensibility. The product of three years of experimentation and recording, and synthesizing the insights of more than thirty years of musical research, Spectral Evolution is the quintessential album of guitar music from Rafael Toral."

WITHERS, BILL Still Bill (Green Vinyl) LP
"Bill Withers was a modest, gentle, and yet towering musical figure responsible for some of the most important, universally known soul hits ever written. It's no wonder that 'Just the Two of Us' and 'Ain't No Sunshine' won him two Grammy awards and undoubtedly played a huge role in getting him inducted into both the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Still Bill is Withers' third studio album and continues to showcase his remarkable versatility, touching upon smooth Philly soul, funk, blues and '70s folk slash singer/songwriter. Upon release the record was both a commercial and critical success and is considered a landmark 1970s R&B record. It features the hit singles 'Lean on Me' and 'Use Me,' as well as 'Who Is He (And What Is He to You)?' appearing on the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown. Unsurprisingly, next to Just As I Am, this record also made it into Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, coming in at #333. This edition includes booklet featuring a reflective essay on Bill Withers written by Grammy-nominated poet, journalist and humanitarian Kevin Powell. MESFIN, JORGA The Kindest One LP
At first listening, Jorga Mesfin's The Kindest One leaves the audience uncertain of time. This is a long foray into Ethio-jazz that draws bits of inspiration from all kinds of situations in Ethiopian music, jazz music, and specifically Ethiopian jazz music that precedes it. Jazz is at once avant-garde and rooted in tradition. Of this the very concept of "jazz standard" bears witness. But invariably, change occurs. In two ways, the most obvious is that new, radical, or almost iconoclastic renditions of traditional songs add to the treasure of jazz. Or new songs are added to the canon. Mulatu Astatke wedded Ethiopia to jazz as far back as the 1960s, a synthesis that provoked attention, awe, and admiration in its time, but also a fair share of skepticism because of how the ingenious mixture of traditional Ethiopian scales, songs, and melodies were so modernized in the idiom of Latin jazz. Unsurprisingly, Ethio-jazz ushered in a new canon of standards. If Astatke's Ethio Jazz fused vibes, piano, and percussion heard in the Afro-Cuban vein Charlie Parker and Dizzie Gillespie had fleshed out with millennia-old Ethiopian themes and pentatonic scale, Jorga Mesfin's 2008 album The Kind Ones: Degagochu and now The Kindest One takes this courageous syncretism further. An unnoticed album when it was released, it revels in the sort of modality brought to the fore by John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, and Bill Evans. Just as Astatke, the acknowledged godfather of Ethio Jazz ushered in a new idiom of music through mastery of a wide range of instruments, Mesfin mildly attacks the listener with a minimal array of sounds used to the most dramatic effect imaginable, simply by masterfully building tension and releasing it sparingly. In his rendition of Tizita -- arguably one of the most recurringly played themes in Ethiopian music, and by now inscribed in the canon of standards -- it is as if he reaches the mythological world painted by Miles Davis on Concierto de Aranguez from a secret East African path previously unknown. The Kindest One is so captivating that its tones, fluidly moving from tranquility to held-back frenzy with increasing intensity, will give you inner visions.

THA GOD FAHIM Tha Dark Shogunn Saga V.1 - 3 2CD
"Tha God Fahim's timeless creative instincts have been evident from the moment his art began to circulate, as the Atlanta emcee quickly distinguished himself with sharp wordplay and atmospheric production. With just a few projects to his name, Tha God Fahim was still a hungry young talent on the rise when he unleashed Tha Dark Shogunn Saga in late 2016. Among his most memorable early releases, the album kicked off an unprecedented creative explosion, as Fahim cemented his status with more than 50 projects released over the next two years. Evoking shadowy street corners and smoke-filled hallways, Tha Dark Shogunn Saga showcases the power of a true rhyme assassin, with commanding lyricism melding into ethereal instrumentation. Followed by an equally compelling sequel released just a few months later, the overall saga became an important moment in Tha God Fahim's rise, containing some of his earliest collaborations with Mach-Hommy along with beats from Nicholas Craven, Camouflage Monk, Denmark Vessey, and more. Nearly a decade later, Fahim is expanding this series into a full trilogy with Tha Dark Shogunn Saga, Vol. 3. Reviving the unmistakable vibe of the original projects, the new collection finds our hero back in warrior mode, sharpening his lyrical blade over rich production from Cookin Soul, Nicholas Craven, Fortes, and Fahim himself. All three chapters in Tha Dark Shogunn Saga are now available in this double disc CD collection."

NEUROSIS An Undying Love For A Burning World 2LP
Double LP version. Color vinyl. "Evolution can be ugly and beautiful, painful and euphoric. An Undying Love For A Burning World is the first new release from Neurosis in a decade, and a potent statement of intent and rebirth -- one that marks the first new steps of resolve and resilience. An Undying Love For A Burning World is an epic album of colossal hypnotism -- beautiful, fearsome and utterly compelling in a way that only Neurosis can be. Aaron Turner (Sumac, Isis) joins the band on vocals and guitar, a name whose legacy is intertwined with the band's own and a true kindred spirit. Neurosis have never been afraid of change, and here they embrace endless regeneration, surrendering to the emotional exorcism through heaviness and distortion that their music incites. Just as the universe tends towards balance, Neurosis' cacophony of noise, rhythm and dissonance always resolves towards moments of beauty. The addition of Turner's powerful vocals and wildly creative and unhinged approach to guitar proves to be a vital force as Neurosis find themselves again at the mercy of evolution and expression. The album was recorded by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City, Sumac, and Great Falls) at Studio Litho in Seattle during three weekends, and mixed in three days just six weeks before release at Evan's Antisleep Audio in Oakland."

MEETING BY CHANCE Time Deception CD
Meeting By Chance is a project by Marcin Cichy, one of the founders of the legendary duo Skalpel. Beyond his work with his home formation, Marcin also gained international recognition through his collaboration with the late Lil Peep on their joint EP Changes. His new album as Meeting By Chance reveals another side of Cichy's musical imagination. While Skalpel became known for transforming jazz samples into cinematic downtempo soundscapes, this project moves closer to ambient, IDM and classical electronic music. The title hints at its central theme: the way time bends, stretches and slips away from perception. Musical sequences loop like fragments of memory; rhythms appear and dissolve; melodies emerge from misty layers of synthesizers. At times the music evokes the cinematic worlds of Vangelis or Brian Eno, while elsewhere one can hear echoes of the subtle minimalism of Susumu Yokota and Ryuichi Sakamoto, alongside contemporary cinematic electronics in the spirit of Oneohtrix Point Never. "Too Far" captures the character of the album particularly well. A looping piano motif intertwines with vocal samples, ambient textures, a deep bass pulse and almost jazz-like drums. The result is spacious and luminous -- electronic music that, despite its digital tools, sounds strikingly organic and intimate. This sense of "breathing" music is one of the most distinctive elements of the record. The drums feel lively and tactile, never mechanical. Cichy's music unfolds like a sequence of images -- like photographs placed side by side, where meaning emerges in the space between frames. It is no coincidence that the project's name comes from the famous 1970 photographic series by Duane Michals, in which two men pass each other in a narrow street, only to turn around moments later, as if they had recognized one another too late. Time Deception ultimately becomes more than a collection of tracks -- it is a meditation on memory, technology and the strange elasticity of time, where machines seem to breathe with an almost human rhythm.

ANADOL & MARIE KLOCK Manivelles LP
Following their 2024 debut La grande accumulation (PING 086LP), Anadol (Gözen Atila) and Marie Klock return with Manivelles. Hailed by The Quietus as a duo that pushes each other to "greater heights of oddness," the pair produces an undefinable mix of folk, kraut, and pop nested inside expansive organ-based arrangements. The album's nine tracks emerged from intensive improvisations in Paris and Istanbul, brought to life with an odd mix of tools: from Prophet-5 and Jupiter-6 synths to mechanical Pianet clatter and even a salad spinner repurposed as a drone. Klock's French lyrics navigate the miniature and the cosmic, exploring the small tragedies of everyday life -- botched holiday gatherings, lingering heartbreak or the absence of a loved one. Born from a moment of catharsis during an Istanbul earthquake that ended a period of writer's block, the record draws its material from lived experience and a lasting friendship. Its title, Manivelles -- meaning "cranks" -- hints at the musical partners' creative penchant for generating songs through friction and playful contradictions. From the shouted pastiche of "Symposium" to the sparse synth pulses of "Une grande tragédie polonaise," it's an album with a wonderfully wonky heart that sounds like faint signals from a beautifully failing transmitter. For Fans of: Bruce Haack, Leonora Carrington, Véronique Vincent & Aksak Maboul, Dominique Guiot, Aline Kominsky-Crumb, Albert Marcoeur Quentin Smirhes, Deux Filles, Woo, Le Zerep, Philippe Katerine, Dominique André.

ART ENSEMBLE OF CHICAGO Les Stances a Sophie LP
2026 restock. On May 28, 1969, four American musicians -- reed/wind players Roscoe Mitchell and Joseph Jarman, bassist Malachi Favors, and (accompanied by his wife, singer Fontella Bass) trumpeter Lester Bowie -- boarded the ocean liner S.S. United States, bound for Le Havre, France. After landing five days later, they moved on to Paris, where they got to work. On August 22, 1970, in the waning days of their stay overseas, the group, with Bass on vocals, would record their second release for EMI's Pathé Marconi: the movie soundtrack Les Stances à Sophie. The record, an exciting, eminently listenable combination of soul, classical, and jazz strains that survives as the Art Ensemble of Chicago's most stylistically diverse album, has long been admired by a devoted cult. Its durability is largely due to the popularity of its "hit": Over the years, "Theme de Yoyo" has been covered repeatedly, essayed by acts as varied as German funk band the Boogoos (and the offshoot Deep Jazz, both featuring singer Julia Fehenbeger), British nu-jazz combo the Cinematic Orchestra, Polish jazz man Wojtek Mazolewski, Norwegian rockers Motorpsycho, French dance music artist Étienne Jaumet, and London-based remixer, Shall I Bruk It. More than half a century later, "Theme de Yoyo" and Les Stances à Sophie still bring it. Limited-edition LP reissue from play loud! Productions, supplemented with new notes by U.S. music journalist Chris Morris.

ERICKSON, ROKY All That May Do My Rhyme (White Vinyl) LP
2026 restock; white vinyl. Play Loud! Productions present the first reissue of Roky Erickson's All That May Do My Rhyme, originally released in 1994. Roky Erickson is a legend. Former member of the 13th Floor Elevators, he was considered the white James Brown. Drug problems and diagnosed schizophrenia made him an outsider. By the '90s, he was struggling to survive on a $200 monthly social security check. In 1990, artists like R.E.M., ZZ Top, and the Jesus and Mary Chain recorded his songs for a tribute album. Erickson performed publicly for the first time in many years at the Austin Music Awards. In 1994, he returned to the studio with guitarists Charlie Sexton and the Butthole Surfers' Paul Leary to record All That May Do My Rhyme. This record was released on CD, cassette, and vinyl in 1994 on Paul Leary's Trance Syndicate Records. Notes from the original press release: "Trance Syndicate is pleased to present the first studio recording in almost a decade by one of the most gifted, most influential, most inspired singer/songwriters from the Republic of Texas since Buddy Holly. Roky Erickson is back! performing new songs and a few classics in one of the best studios in Texas, backed by some of Texas' finest musicians." This is no cheap live tape, crummy reissue, nor a slimy bootleg. This is the real thing.

MARTIN, KEVIN RICHARD Sub Zero 2LP
Just when you thought Kevin Richard Martin's music couldn't go any slower, lower or deeper, Sub Zero emerges. A slow-motion excavation of drug-tech, dub, dreamy noise and frozen ambience, the album gradually mutates into hypnotic pulsations and melodic melancholia. It is arguably Martin's most striking release to date under his given name. Originally released digitally on Bandcamp only in the depths of winter 2022, amid the final year of the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia's initial invasion of Ukraine, this desolate epic went on to become KRM's best-selling digital album on the platform. With persistent demand for a vinyl pressing and a full DSP release from fans, Martin thought the time was right for Sub Zero to finally surface in its full glory: remastered and paired with fresh new artwork. Unnervingly, the album is as beautiful as it is solemn, as glacial as it is relentless, and as subtle as it is terrifying. A trip into a sonic abyss, with a tour of a philosophical void, it's to my ears, KRM's most seductive work yet, and also his most emotionally resonant. Martin expertly balances tear-jerking motifs with heavier than hell rhythmic weight. With its melodic fog, eternal drones and eerie atmospherics, the peripheral throb of distant kick drums, the heartbeat punctuation of cavernous subs and the snowstorm blizzard of fuzz absolutely envelopes the mind, whilst crushing the soul. In terms of lineage, Sub Zero might recall a more paranoid Porter Ricks, a dystopian GAS, or a brutally dubbed-out Pan Sonic. Most fitting, however, is its kinship with the deepest dub terrain Martin previously explored on In Blue, The Bug's acclaimed 2020 collaboration with Dis Fig for Hyperdub, where he obsessively probed subaqueous pulses and low-end modulations. Sub Zero is possibly the most minimal, desolate, and deviant dub record yet released on Martin's PRESSURE label. It marks the point at which dub disappears into its own effects trails. Dub music capturing frozen moments in time. Dub as an addictive painkiller, that sounds both sacred and ocean deep.

BAKER, CHET Shine 2LP
"Chet Baker showed with his music that little bit of dark substance that exists in the human being -- the shadow side -- just as very few other jazz musicians have been able to do. However, such a reading that looks for traces of anguish and self-destruction in every note -- and which has also been translated into a couple of films -- has ended up overshadowing something very important: namely, that Chet Baker was a top-notch jazz musician, the creator of a unique and personal poetics, an interpreter who did not wallow in his own torments but who also knew how to take less introspective paths, including a superfine and very lively swing. Chet Baker's music had characteristics of its own. Of a bebop nature in the fast pieces, he had in solos that complex and pulsating way that characterized this style. He differed from it in the soft timbre of the trumpet, which rarely indulged in the 'flare-ups' typical of the boppers, and above all for the insistent use of pauses. These were precisely one of the cornerstones of his musical language. In the ballads the trumpeter-singer expanded them to the point of absurdity (and so did with the notes), making them spaces charged of meaning, as can be seen in the somber 'I'm a Fool to Want You,' made famous by Billie Holiday, and also in the serene 'In a Sentimental Mood.' In this final phase of his career, Baker often liked to have groups without drums with him because, in addition to allowing him to maintain a muffled volume in his singing and trumpet playing, the drumless situation guaranteed him greater freedom. Only the double bass player was left to keep time, a role here entrusted to a solid Knauer. In 'Ferrara,' a sensitive French pianist, Michel Graillier, took the stage; in those years he was looking for a synthesis between the energy of McCoy Tyner and the harmonic language of Bill Evans. Finally, the presence of a piano allowed Stilo to limit the use of the other harmonic instrument, the guitar, in favor of the flute."

COX & ANSBOY, STEVIE Twice Like Rice 12"
Stevie Cox and Ansboy: two powerhouses of the Glaswegian club scene join forces for their collaborative debut EP on Rhythm Section INTL, Twice Like Rice. It's a weighty four-track EP designed for the dancefloor, taking in myriad influences from dub techno, breaks, trance and good old fashioned house music. Ansboy is a fresh alias for the Grammy-nominated producer and mixdown engineer, Robert Etherson, a staple in the Scottish scene with an international touring repertoire. "GC" is a peak-time breaks-infused trancey-heater -- a master class in building dancefloor tension. Things spin towards a darker percussive focus on the more intense "Twice Like Rice". On the B-side, things return to blissful euphoria with "Virgil" -- a warm up dub-techno ballad, before the emotional release of "Subculture Closure"-inspired "Carter 21".

LAKIS, LAUREN Deadlights CD
"Lauren Lakis makes songs that are steeped in darkness, but inside of them is a sense of hope. They are propelled by the possibility of emerging on the other side feeling less alone and fully transformed. On her debut album Deadlights, she conjures a shifting reality -- one defined by both distortion and clarity. Indebted to shoe gaze and '90s alt rock, its 10 tracks are filled with ethereal vocals, melodic guitars, and a heavy low end. It's inspired by groups like Deftones and Hole, powerful bands that explore the emotional bottom but are able to rise from the depths. Lakis was born in Baltimore, where she was raised by her single mother. As she grew up, she lost multiple family members and friends to addiction. She became an actor and a photographer, trying to capture the human experience with each endeavor. Her travels led to stints living in Prague and Tokyo, before she moved to Los Angeles. In 2016 she endured a horrible breakup, and then her mother was in a car accident that left her paralyzed. Though Lakis was already singing in a band at the time, these life-altering events motivated her to focus on writing and recording her own music. 'When you're in a place of total surrender, you are able to get out of your own way and finally do the thing you want to do,' she says. After the car accident, Lakis's mother's health deteriorated, and Deadlights was recorded over the last year of life, with Lakis frequently travelling back to Baltimore to care for her. Despite these circumstances and the recurring theme of loss in its songs, Lakis doesn't consider Deadlights a grief album. Instead it captures what's possible when you survive the worst reality you can imagine. 'That loss, the experience of going through the absolute worst thing, there's a freedom in that,' she says. 'There's a liberation in that where I almost feel invincible.'"

MERZBOW TripleAkuma CD
A note from Lawrence English: "TripleAkuma is the third in a series of essential live documents from Merzbow. The stage and the studio are not the same place, and Merzbow has an acute understanding of this juxtaposition. Whilst the sheer density of the music might be maintained across both spheres, the live experience of Merzbow is truly something that exists as profoundly physical and moreover, overtly performative. Merzbow's live methodologies draw not just from a saturation of frequency at all levels, but a recognition of how frequency can be used to affect the body. Working at the extremes of both low and high sonic energies, he creates a situation within which the fullness of the body can be tested; the aural body, that of our ears (and importantly our mind's ear), and the physical one (after all, the body itself is an ear). TripleAkuma, recorded in his hometown of Tokyo, captures a particularly fierce and free performance. There's a morphic and lava-like quality to the sounds he creates here and the very room itself bares into the recording, adding a certain excessive intensity to the way the sounds carry in space, and time. There is no one exposure that could capture the true force and presence of Merzbow live, but each capture, like this one, deepens our understanding of his truly unique and provocative sonic universe."

SUZUKI, AKIO Soundsphere CD
A note from Lawrence English: "Akio Suzuki has always been an artist in search of unexpected sound, and curiosity has been his guiding principle. Whether that be curiosity for objects, spaces or places, his work has been guided by a porousness and pliability which has allowed him to explore an enormous sonic terrain. This freedom has also allowed him to develop a language in sound that remains utterly his own. Nowhere is this more evident than in his approach to instrument creation. During the 1970s Akio Suzuki devised a series of instruments that would become his sonic signatures. The Analapos and De Koolmees are perhaps his most readily identifiable instruments and it is these two that make up the core of material from which Soundsphere is created. Soundsphere, recorded in 1990 at Hut Apollphuis in Eindhoven, captures Suzuki at the height of his powers. It is a document of his music shaped by patience and dynamism, in equal measure. Few other recordings capture both the tenderness and the presence of Suzuki's ways of discovering sound in his instruments. On pieces such as 'Analapos A: Voice,' he creates a wavering oceanic vocal drone that echoes up and down, tracing the coils of the Analapos' springs. The results are simultaneously minimal and expansive, reminding us that sound exists in the vertical and well as horizontal planes. Similarly his performance on 'De Koolmees: Suzuki Type -- Glass Harmonica' shares this intensity of focus. Suzuki's strikes and strokes on the glass tubes, creating an endlessly evolving array of tonal inflections and pulses. Soundsphere, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary, is an essential capture of the ways in sound Akio Suzuki has developed over his now six decades of practice."

QANAT Aigua Ballant LP
Aigua Ballant ("Dancing Waters") is a musical fusion where the Mediterranean soul meets the deep-rooted mysticism of Central Asia. Inspired by the surprising resonance between the work melodies of Balearic Islands and Pitises Islands and the haunting beauty of Persian and Byzantine melodies, Qanat weaves together the rich traditions of the Mediterranean, Mesopotamia, and Persia. The project blends old Balearic work songs with the modal textures of Middle Eastern and Central Asian music -- including influences from Iran, Turkey, Tajikistan, and the ancient region of Khorasan. At the heart of the project is the remarkable melodic kinship between Balearic field songs -- once sung during rural labor -- and the ancient echoes of Byzantine chant. Qanat bridges these traditions, crafting new musical landscapes through original compositions, instrumental dialogues, and vocal ornamentations that celebrate the shared soul of these distant-yet-connected cultures.

SALAMIRECORDER Inside The Cage LP
With his latest album, Inside The Cage, Vienna-based Salamirecorder once again presents stylish '60s garage sound. Following his last LP on Bachelor Records, which he recorded with his band The Hi-Fi Phonos, he recorded ten songs for Inside The Cage entirely on his own using a four-track tape recorder. Of course, 23-year-old Salamirecorder is far too young to have experienced the world-changing era of rock `n' roll himself. But his persona embodies its historically rebellious spirit. His style was shaped by his early passion for 2010s genre greats such as Ty Segall and Bass Drum of Death, which he developed while skateboarding. These days, Salamirecorder is well connected, but less through social media than in real life. He is respected by both beat-loving young kids and gray-haired scene veterans such as Wild Evil & The Trashbones and The Jaybirds, plays acclaimed gigs with his perfectly rehearsed backing combo The Hi-Fi Phonos, and is a drummer, guitarist, and singer in bands such as Laundromat Chicks, Sux Sux Sux, and Telebrains. As a producer, he recently recorded Vic Velvet's solo debut on tape. For him, analog is not just a purist principle of faith, but an artistic and political decision. In a world of endless digital possibilities, the salami recorder finds a paradoxical freedom by "limiting itself a little bit."

RODEN/IN BE TWEEN NOISE, STEVE Every Color Moving (1988-2003) 6CD BOX
2026 repress. Every Color Moving consists of six discs, covering seven hours of the first fifteen years of Steve Roden's musical activities. The first four discs contain unreleased works and impossible to find small editions. The last two discs offer a selection of tracks made for compilations during the same period. From the surprising early experiments to the development of his often imitated but never equalled "lowercase" aesthetic, these are some of Roden's earliest works, documenting numerous rare and unreleased recordings. The discs are accompanied with a 32 page booklet with an essay and extended track notes, written by the artist. Steve Roden (1964) is a visual and sound artist born in Los Angeles. Roden's work includes painting, drawing, sculpture, film/video, sound installation, and performance. Roden's earliest musical experience was as the singer of the Los Angeles punk band Seditionaries from 1978 to 1982, performing locally with some famous bands from this scene. Roden's early works moved from loud to quiet in the midst of an emotional crisis at age 18, fueling a shift in his work, with the discovery of Eno's Obscure label. In the early -1990s Roden discovered the Broken Music catalog (an encyclopedic survey of records related to visual artists), offering a context for an artistic practice rooted in both visual and sound art. In 1990, Roden released his first recording on a self-released cassette titled the secret of happiness under the artist name In Be Tween Noise. Since then, Roden has released 45 solo recordings on various labels, alongside numerous collaborations and compilations. By the late 1990s, Roden began to use his own name as the artist of his solo recordings. Most of Roden's sound works tend towards using a singular source - such as objects, architectural spaces, field recordings, or texts. These things become abstracted through humble electronic processes to create new audio spaces, or "possible landscapes". In 2000, he used the term "lowercase" to describe a music that "bears a certain sense of quiet and humility". Over the years, he has created a rich and diverse body of work that is uniquely his own, mixing conceptual rigor, experimentation and musicality.

RODEN, STEVE A Thousand Breathing Forms 6CD
2026 repress. A Thousand Breathing Forms, the second boxset of Steve Roden archive works released by Sonoris, is a selection of unreleased or hard-to-locate works from 2003 to 2008, a very prolific and creative period for the Californian artist. The boxset is centered on his hard-to-describe loop based sound works that are uniquely his own, such as Stars Of Ice (2008), A Christmas Play For Joseph Cornell (2007), but also includes the conceptual "One Hour As The Bumps Of Surfaces" and some more musical or instrumental works. So Delicate And Strangely Made, the title of one of his very first records (2003), could still be the right description of his sound work, rooted in visual arts and architecture, mixing conceptual rigor, and experimentation, without neglecting musicality. Most of Roden's sound works tend towards using a singular source -- such as objects, architectural spaces, field recordings, or texts. Mastered by Giuseppe Ielasi.
Steve Roden on the collection: "Stars Of Ice was inspired by a Chinese 7" record salvaged from a thrift store. 'Stills For Guru Dutt' came out of my love of discovering my favorite Bollywood director, and the En/Of (2004) record used the sound of the great Indian playback singer Mohammed Rafi. '22 Letters And The Resonance Of A Three Pointed Star' was inspired by an early 1960's building for the Olivetti design firm in Ivrea Italy, where the original installation was placed within the lobby where it was 'modulated' by the space. A Christmas Play For Joseph Cornell was of course, inspired by the work of Joseph Cornell, but also George Brecht's water yam scores. The banjo used in 'Banjoharmonium' was found at the flea market (my home from home), and the harmonium was a gift from my friend Damon. . . . 'To These 4 Horizons' was, again with collaborating with architecture, making recordings in the rain on the site of Le Corbusier's Ronchamp after getting lost for hours while trying to find our way through torrential rains (that you can hear on one of these tracks). 'Sleep/Walk/Drive' was a collaboration, also something important to keep one honest. The last track, so tiny, was a cover version of the oldest recorded sound we know, and the story of that not only generated this track, but a sound and video installation." No longer comes with bonus 3" CD. |

JAMAL, KHAN Gives The Vibes Some LP
2026 restock; LP version. On "Cold Sweat," James Brown famously called to "give the drummer some." In 1974, Philadelphia vibraphonist Khan Jamal called to Give the Vibes Some, with superb results. Pianist and composer Jef Gilson's PALM label gave Jamal the platform he needed to deliver a thorough exploration of contemporary vibraphone. After launching PALM in 1973, Gilson quickly demonstrated that he would only produce records not found anywhere else. Give the Vibes Some, PALM number 10, was another confirmation of this guiding principle. Raised and based in Philadelphia, Khan Jamal took up the vibes in 1968, after two years in the army during which he was stationed in France and Germany. Decisively drawn to the instrument by the work of the Modern Jazz Quartet's Milt Jackson, Jamal studied under Philadelphia vibraphone legend Bill Lewis and soon made his debuts in the local underground. Early in 1972, Jamal made his first recording, with the Sounds of Liberation. The band attempted an original fusion of conga-heavy grooves with avant-garde jazz soloing. Saxophonist Byard Lancaster, an important figure in Jamal's development, contributed much of the solo work. Later in 1972, Jamal made his leader debut with Drum Dance to the Motherland, a reverb-drenched, never-to-be-replicated experiment with live sound processing. Both albums appeared on the tiny musician-run Dogtown label. "We couldn't get no play from nowhere. No gigs or recording sessions or anything. So I took off for Paris," Jamal recalled in a Cadence interview with Ken Weiss. "Within a few weeks, I had a few articles and I did a record date. It didn't make me feel good about America." That was in 1974, while Byard Lancaster was recording the music gathered on Souffle Continu's The Complete PALM Recordings, 1973-1974. Jamal's record date delivered Give the Vibes Some. At its core, it was an exploratory solo vibraphone album, even if two tracks added (through technological resourcefulness?) a très célèbre French drummer very much into Elvin Jones appearing under pseudonym for contractual reasons. Another track, for which Jamal switched to the vibes's wooden ancestor, the marimba, added young Texan trumpeter Clint Jackson III. The most notable article published on Jamal during this stay in France was a Jazz Magazine interview. Jamal's last word there were "The Creator has a master plan/drum dance to the motherland." "Give the vibes some" could be added to this programmatic statement.

HAMPER TRIO, GUY 5 Miles To Jerome LP
"The Guy Hamper Trio was formed by Billy Childish, after a chat with his friend James Taylor. Billy and James had played respectively in The Milkshakes and The Prisoners, often sharing the same bill in the early '80s, leading to Billy's blues ensemble The Natural Born Lovers being the support act for the early shows of The James Taylor Quartet. The Guy Hamper Trio is: Billy Childish on guitar, his wife Julie on bass and Wolf on drums -- who as it happens was the drummer in the original incarnation of JTQ -- and of course features James Taylor on Hammond organ. The Guy Hamper Trio provide a bottom end, blues-influenced instrumental mayhem for those unafraid of dirt, germs and true grime. With no particular wish other than to be recognized as the best at playing badly, they refuse to obey the usual rules of combat and music. Their first 45 ('Polygraph Test/Sally Sensation') was released in 2009, followed by a full-length studio album, 'All The Poisons In The Mud,' appearing, as if by magic, in 2022, followed by six 7" singles (via Damaged Goods and Spinout Nuggets), and also four further full-length albums. Here are twelve fine songs of bottom end, blues-influenced instrumental mayhem, with something bold, something new, something borrowed, something blues! Limited to 500 copies on vinyl."

KORAY, ERKIN Mechul: Singles & Rarities LP
2026 restock. Erkin Koray and Sublime Frequencies are pleased to present this collection of rare tracks and lesser-heard singles. All tracks were recorded and released in Turkey between 1970-1977 and culled from Koray's personal vinyl collection. Includes exclusive photos and remastered audio. What more is there to say about Erkin Koray? An iconic guitar and songwriting genius. A voice of gold. Having founded the country's first-ever rock and roll group in 1957, he is regarded worldwide as the father of Turkish rock. Forging Western sounds with his own inimitable musical mastery, he self-produced singles and LPs throughout the 1960s and 1970s that shook and altered Turkish society. Erkin didn't stop at rock and roll. Over time, he began to find inspiration in folk sounds from Turkey's Anatolian interior, and radio broadcasts received from Egypt and Lebanon. He looked to the East from his West-leaning Istanbul perch, and began incorporating these sounds into his own work. This amalgamation was as unprecedented and unorthodox in Istanbul at the time as rock and roll itself had been in the 1950s. The resulting hybrid sound ignited what became known as the Arabesque music movement in Turkey -- which continues to this day. While Erkin has recorded and performed tirelessly throughout the years (both as a solo artist, and with the powerful groups he formed), his extensive back catalog only began to be explored by the international community in the 1990s. He is now recognized as one of the foremost global leaders of psychedelic, folk rock, pop and balladry. His music has stood the test of time more than many of his Western contemporaries and influences have managed to, and his prolific work ethic has not ceased. He continues to live and breathe music, performing epic concerts, and continuously plotting new recordings and strategies. His vision and integrity, coupled with his pronounced world views and inherent musical greatness, have made him the unique and magnificent living legend he is today. This collection features tracks not found on the many unauthorized Erkin compilations and LP reissues that have emerged in the West over the years. Ranging from the sublime to the surreal, these tracks offer an essential glimpse into the extensive repertoire of the great Erkin Koray. --Mark Gergis, July, 2011

L'IRA DEL BACCANO Praise of Folly CD
Doomedelic instrumental space prog rockers L'ira Del Baccano are back with their official fifth full length album on Subsound Records The Praise of Folly. Guitarist Alessandro Santori says about the album: "We are very excited to finally release these three songs that we have worked hard to arrange on over the past two years. Once again we invite the listener to join us on a journey beyond the constraints of song form and genre, and to dive into The Praise of Folly like reading a book where you never know what will happen when you turn the page. From the production point of view we pushed even more on the live aspect and sounds of the single performance. We decided to not edit different takes of each song but to choose which one to use on the base of general feeling and then add some post arrangements to emphasize specific passages." Also available on black vinyl (SSR 166LP) and grey/cherry transparent vinyl (SSR 166LTD).

MRS. MAGICIAN Spiritual Hangover LP
"San Diego's Mrs. Magician has always bent surf music and punk into something delightfully off-kilter -- sun-soaked, hook-heavy power pop with a lyrical fixation on life's darker undercurrents. Their 2012 debut, Strange Heaven, was a nihilistic pop statement that grew into a cult classic. The 2016 follow-up, Bermuda, sharpened the edges with punchy, nervy songwriting. Both records were produced by John Reis (Rocket From The Crypt, Hot Snakes, Drive Like Jehu), cementing the band's place in Southern California's underground lineage. Now, Mrs. Magician reemerges with their long-awaited third LP, Spiritual Hangover. Recorded at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 and Singing Serpent Studios with producer Christian Cummings, Spiritual Hangover finds songwriter Jacob Turnbloom trading youthful nihilism for something more reflective. Where earlier records wrestled with existential dread through anthemic defiance, this new collection embraces uncertainty -- an admission of ignorance in the face of the human condition, paired with a genuine longing for connection and understanding. The humor remains. The hooks are sharper than ever. But the perspective has shifted. These songs feel less like a declaration of dominance and more like a celebration of fragility -- an acknowledgment that life is fleeting, confusing, and still worth enjoying. The album features Andrew Montoya (drums) and Mark Rivera (bass) of The Sess, Ian Fowles (guitar) of The Aquabats, and John Reis (guitar). Spiritual Hangover channels the bright urgency of late-'70s power pop through a distinctly Californian lens -- warm, melodic, and irresistibly alive."

LOTUS EATERS Wurmwulv 2LP
Warehouse find, last copies of this 2011 release. Lotus Eaters is Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O))), KTL, etc.), James Plotkin (Khanate, Phantomsmasher, etc.) and Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom, etc.). Previously issued on CD, Plotkin has remixed, remastered and rearranged Wurmwulv for this vinyl edition using alternate takes from the original recording sessions. The 2LP also includes reworked material from Lotus Eaters' self-titled 7" released by Drone Records. 52 minutes and 29 seconds on 3 sides of direct metal mastered 200 gram virgin vinyl, the 2LP has a drawing by Turner etched on side D. Housed in a Stoughton tip-on gatefold jacket designed by O'Malley, Wurmwulv features Stephen Kasner paintings printed on linen-textured woven paper, a spot varnished interior and flooded pockets. The Kasner paintings and Turner drawings included were created specifically for this vinyl edition of 1,000. Reconfigured for vinyl, Wurmwulv is a solvent-soaked carpet ride into loose soil. Worms writhe over cilia as moist roots lick and graze skin. The dampened howls of wolves reverberate through water freezing into creaking crystals. When oxygen levels reach a critical low, a cacophony of clanging metal provides an inhalation of humid air.

ANDERSON, MARISA The Anthology of UnAmerican Folk Music CD
CD comes with a 12-page color booklet with detailed track information, and extensive liner notes from Anderson. "Marisa Anderson's music transcends borders. The topography of her work interrogates the intersections of artistry and expression with form and tradition. A singular guitarist and voracious musical collaborator, Anderson crafts pieces bursting with equal parts reverence and curiosity, contouring familiar shapes into work that is wholly her own. Anderson has spent decades mining the veins of the complicated, interconnected American folk traditions she was steeped in from a young age, stretching beyond those traditions and incorporating the vocabulary and techniques of vernacular folk music from around the world into her work. Eschewing replication or revival, Anderson's music lives in conversation with tradition. The Anthology of UnAmerican Folk Music is drawn from nearly one thousand songs culled from the private record collection of the late Harry Smith. For this record, Anderson works on music from places that the United States has been in conflict with since 1970: Southeast Asia, the USSR and the Arabic and Islamic regions of the world. In Volume 1 Anderson presents her own deeply personal iterations of nine songs from the Anthology. Composed, transcribed and arranged through a process of trial and error, deep listening and research, Anderson charts a musical course from Afghanistan to Vietnam via Yemen, Cambodia and Turkmenistan. Interpretations of compositions from Pakistani qawwali and Syrian taqsim are played with Anderson's deft and practiced hands. Each piece on the album stands as a dialogue between Anderson and the original source recordings, refracted through the prism of her unique musical lens. Anderson's contribution to this dialogue ultimately invites the listener to join her in asking: 'Who are the people we've been told in our lifetimes are 'unamerican?'' What have we lost or been denied access to in the fallout from that label?"

MAGIC TUBER STRINGBAND Heavy Water CD
"Magic Tuber Stringband act in communion with the natural world around them. Highly skilled players and writers, the trio are leaders within the burgeoning avant-folk world. Growing up in Appalachia studying the folk traditions of the region in tandem scientific and observational work in nature, their music appears to weave in and out of the fabric of the landscape. The ensemble continues to stretch the parameters of acoustic instrumental expression with masterful flourishes of dense, textural arrangements, subtle minimalist gestures and deft improvisation. Heavy Water addresses the impact of nuclear production on the environment and the communities within, a musical evocation of destruction and resilience, an embrace of dissonance and tension within moments of transcendence. The inspiration for Heavy Water is rooted in fiddler Courtney Werner's work as an ecologist in rural South Carolina. Werner explains: 'The town of Ellenton, South Carolina was the largest of the towns displaced in 1952 by the U.S. federal government to build the Savannah River Plant, which produced radioactive materials for U.S. nuclear weapons during the Cold War. The former site of Ellenton was dedicated to the extraction of 'heavy water,' whereas other areas of the plant focused on manufacturing weapons-grade plutonium and tritium within nuclear reactors. Heavy water is chemically altered to be denser than normal water and is incredibly expensive and time-consuming to synthesize, requiring 52 gallons of river water to produce one fluid ounce. Its denser properties made it valuable for use within the nuclear reactors on the site.' The pieces of Heavy Water address the loss of community and untold ecological fallout of invasive, irreversible actions. A verdant countryside often mythologized in American vernacular as a respite or refuge in reality is forever tainted, a dynamic whose emotional impact is captured in the compositions."
"While it's easy to peg their influences, the band's lively performances and ear for rich sonorities affirm that Weird America is in good hands." - The Wire "North Carolina's Magic Tuber Stringband have emerged as a force in the realm of traditional Appalachian folk music. Fiddler Courtney Werner and 12-string guitarist Evan Morgan create music that drones back through the centuries but feels current and alive." - Stereogum |

GUN OUTFIT Process and Reality CD
For two decades, Gun Outfit has been a band defined less by genre than by continuity, patience, and a commitment to making music that reflects their lived experience. Formed in Olympia, Washington in 2006 but long since rooted in Los Angeles, the group has evolved from a raw duo into a quietly formidable five-piece, their sound growing from scrappy post-punk beginnings into something spacious yet intimate, and always underpinned by an experimental edge. On Process & Reality, Gun Outfit return with their most ambitious and immersive work to-date, a sprawling 80-minute double album shaped by time, environment, and philosophy. Recorded over the course of a single month in the late summer of 2020, on an 80-acre ranch in Pine Flat, California, while a massive forest fire burned less than ten miles away, the seeds of these songs were stark and strange. Its title, Process & Reality, draws from the central work of philosopher Alfred North Whitehead, whose philosophy places intuition, experience, creativity, and relationality at the center of existence. The band's current lineup reflects both longevity and openness. Sharp and Keith remain the band's primary architects, joined by longtime drummer Daniel Swire, multi-instrumentalist Henry Barnes, and bassist Kayla Cohen. Additional collaborators include Chris Cohen, Warren Lee, and Danny Sasaki all of whom add further depth, leaving subtle fingerprints across the album. Musically, the album expands the band's palette without abandoning its core sensibility. Dulcimer, autoharp, sitar, melodica, keyboards, homemade electronics, and a wide range of acoustic and electric textures appear throughout. The sound is mellow yet expansive, songs move between fragility and hefty atmospheric passages. Influences surface obliquely rather than overtly. Elements of reggae and dub inform the production's spatial sensibility. Echoes of long-form European jam bands coexist with sharp post-punk. British folk traditions, American country, and classic West Coast songwriting drift in and out of focus; the band is never afraid to lead or follow.

SHAW, MARLENA The Spice Of Life LP
2026 repress. The Spice of Life, released in November 1969, stands as Marlena Shaw's second -- and final -- studio album for Cadet Records, produced and arranged by the renowned Richard Evans and Charles Stepney. From the opening, Shaw's voice -- both playful and powerful -- cuts through the lush yet tight-knit arrangements, weaving together a vibrant tapestry of soul, proto-funk, jazz, gospel, and blues. The album features two defining classics: her deeply resonant original of "Woman of the Ghetto" and a signature take on Ashford & Simpson's "California Soul," both staples in sampling culture (you'll probably find that you're more familiar with Shaw's material than you thought.) Evans and Stepney's arrangements are far from mere support -- they're panoramic and inventive. You'll hear kalimba flourishes, psych-tinged guitar accents, and bongo-fueled organ textures that elevate each track, keeping the atmosphere rich but never overwhelming. Moments like the Bacharach-styled "Looking Through the Eyes of Love" or the dramatic flair of "Stormy Monday" showcase their widescreen sensibility and Shaw's versatility. Beneath its musical elegance, The Spice of Life carries a weighty current of social commentary. Tracks such as "Woman of the Ghetto" and the succinct, fierce "Liberation Conversation" bring political and feminist themes into a soulful, expressive framework -- adding unexpected depth to the sophisticated sonic palette. This album offers an immersive journey through soul-jazz mastery, one that rewarded listeners with sampling gold for decades to come. Reissue on 180g vinyl.

SZABO, GABOR Jazz Raga LP
2026 repress; released in 1967, Jazz Raga is more than just an album -- it's a fearless leap into uncharted musical territory. Gábor Szabó, the Hungarian jazz guitarist known for his boundary-pushing style, delivers one of the most captivating records of his career with this genre - masterpiece. Blending jazz, rock, psychedelic folk, and Eastern influences -- with sitar-laced melodies and Latin-infused rhythms courtesy of legendary funky drummer Bernard Purdie -- Jazz Raga defies categorization. It's a hypnotic fusion where European tradition meets the counterculture spirit of the '60s, all woven together by Szabó's unmistakable guitar tone. From the dreamy groove of "Walking On Nails" to the swirling mysticism of "Mizrab," and his hauntingly original take on the Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black," Szabó creates a sonic landscape that is both daring and deeply soulful. His playing here is electric -- full of offbeat chords, flowing improvisations, and a voice all his own. Decades later, Jazz Raga still stands as a landmark of creative freedom and global influence -- a must-hear for anyone seeking music that transcends borders and expectations. If you haven't experienced this cult classic yet, now's the time to let Gábor Szabó expand your musical horizons. Reissue on 180g vinyl.

KIRI RA! nen CD
Lau Nau (Laura Naukkarinen), Linda Fredriksson, and Matti Bye enter the We Jazz Records realm as Kiri Ra!, a trio that creates their sound slowly, in a process of improvisation and discovery. Filtered through the musicians' long-standing friendship and collaboration, Kiri Ra!'s music is a testament to the joy of creation and invention. Their sound together draws from each of the artists' work before, while creating new world of sound. Their music is about letting go and being free to take in the even softest whisper and the most minute sonic particle to complete a mosaic filled with beauty. Kiri Ra! follow their own path with courage, showing how letting go can create new worlds. From Kiri Ra!: "This music does not try to be anything. No pre-determined references, we get into our recording sessions without any verbal communication. It's more like a state of mind where we are not trying anything, we just see what happens. We create a moment that is unexpected and doesn't have any locked direction. We are not trying to be anything, We are existing together. This music was made with a lot of time. We drank coffee and tea. Played. Enjoyed pulla and cookies. Played a bit more. We talked. We were slow. It took 10 years to combine the right pieces for the album. We were not in a hurry. Keywords: air, space, love, time, rest, electronic, synthetic, organic, warmth, wood." RIYL: Linda Fredriksson "Juniper", Lau Nau, Matti Bye, Laraaji, Laurie Spiegel, Joanna Brouk, Nala Sinephro, ambient, abstract electronic music.

DELAY QUINTET, VLADISLAV vd5 LP
Vladislav Delay, primarily known as a highly regarded electronic music innovator, steps ahead with his acoustic jazz quintet, releasing vd5 on We Jazz Records. Echoing the forward-looking vd musical vision always ahead of the curve, the new album does not fit into any specific category, forging a path of its own across the 10 tracks. Recorded at Candybomber Studio in Berlin, the album brings vd together with Maria Bertel, Lucio Capece, Derek Shirley, and Max Loderbauer. This is shape-shifting, elastic music that exists left of any given timeline. Based in Hailuoto in Northern Finland, Vladislav Delay has never fit into any preset mold as an artist. His prolific, at times mythical output has elevated him to a veritable legend status in all music cycles appreciating a unique artistic voice. Be it his forward-reaching recent releases as Vladislav Delay on his own Rajaton imprint, his Ripatti alias, or playing metallic percussion with the Moritz Von Oswald Trio, Vladislav Delay always has "a sound". And that sound is ever-evolving, as his new jazz album shows. What "jazz" is this? There are certainly liquid elements there in the mix, not unlike the ones heard on previous vd productions. Then again, this is acoustic quintet music by and large, but not any specific kind we have ever heard before. Isn't that the whole point of "jazz"? Whatever came before is a springboard, not a limitation.

GOLD/DUSTIN LAURENZI, MATT Devotional Fade LP
Matt Gold and Dustin Laurenzi present Devotional Fade, a collaborative record of electroacoustic rhythmic improvisations -- equal parts meditation and dance. Laurenzi and Gold, key collaborators in the Chicago creative scene and with genre spanning artists such as Bill Callahan and Makaya McCraven, step forward here with a major artistic statement, a product of extended improv sessions capturing the duo's hypnotic interplay. This is the sound of two of Chicago's most vibrant instrumental voices listening deeply, communing in sound. Recorded in Laurenzi's attic studio, Devotional Fade emerged from a series of weekly sessions over the course of a single month. The duo kept the tape rolling continuously each day and selected a number of immersive sonic worlds to present, oscillating between patient, sacred minimalism and wild, dancefloor-worthy combustion. The pair set two parameters to heighten the sessions' stakes: editing would be kept to a minimum, and a rule of "no pitched overdubs" was put in place -- ensuring that all melodic and harmonic gestures would have to be committed in real time. Laurenzi and Gold held true, only sparingly adding a stray shaker or brush to these already largely complete improvisations. Devotional Fade is imbued with quiet propulsion and ecstatic repetition. Matt Gold is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer based in Chicago, IL. His work pulls from diverse traditions of electric and acoustic music. Matt has performed across six continents and contributed to over fifty recordings as a collaborator and instrumentalist, garnering critical praise from Pitchfork for playing "one of the most exhilarating guitar solos of recent memory, in any genre." Gold has several long-running collaborative bands spanning jazz, folk, experimental, and chamber music including Sun Speak, Storm Jameson, and Tin. Gold co-curates the record label and concert series Flood Music. Chicago saxophonist/multi-

KIKUCHI, MOMOKO Ocean Side (Transparent Vinyl) LP
2026 repress. WRWTFWW Records presents the first release from its new City Pop Series with Japanese singer, actress, entertainer, scholar and all-around legend Momoko Kikuchi's sun-drenched classic Ocean Side album, available as a limited-edition transparent vinyl LP in a heavyweight sleeve with obi. A cult classic among Japanese music collectors, Ocean Side was originally released in 1984 by mythical label VAP and features lush compositions and arrangements by J-Pop icon Tetsuji Hayashi (Mariya Takeuchi, Miki Matsubara, Omega Tribe, Junichi Inagaki). Momoko Kikuchi's city pop gem is a flawless mix of heartwarming beachside funk, breezy grooves, and silky-smooth vocals -- the feel-good music we all need in our life right now. The nine-track summer-is-forever adventure notably includes the ultra-funky megahit "Blind Curve," the fan-favorite title song, and the insanely romantic ballad "Futari No Night Drive." A vibrant reflection of summer in 1980s Japan, Ocean Side masterfully balances nostalgia and elegance, and provides part of the origin story for revered modern music genres such as chillwave, and future funk, and vaporwave. The official reissue licensed from VAP, Inc. is sourced from the original masters with an audiophile-cut by Sidney Meyer at Emil Berliner Studios.
