Music by Tricky, Martina Topley-bird, Scott Ian, Polly Jean Harvey and many others.

Overall impression: excellent. Tricky continues what he started on his previous album, "Pre-Millenium Tension", by kicking out a new batch of scxy-mantra-voodoo-jazz-hip-hop-noise-funk-blues songs. This time around though, the songs are short and sweet and more consistent. There's no "standout" tracks, like say a "Tricky Kid" or "Christiansands", rather all of the songs combine to form one coherent whole. Once again Tricky is augmented vocally by the angelic voice of the mother of his child, Martina (on 6 songs) as well as a Martina-esque Polly Jean Harvey on "Broken Homes". Scott Ian of Anthrax fame also contributes guitar to most of the tracks, but it's not what you might think ... the guitar is just another sound effect to blend in with the mostly live drums, samples and sound loops, keyboards, bass, the occasional wind instrument and even a choir (on "Broken Homes"). Most songs set a midtempo mantra-like rant 'n groove and stick with it, but unlike the live shows of the past couple years where Tricky and band build the groove for 12+ minutes into a frenzy of sound and energy, the songs on this album are kept fairly abrupt and self-contained. I like it either way. This is the first Tricky album that I can listen to start to finish without skipping any tracks. Two great singles have also been released so far: "Broken Homes" and "Money Greedy / Broken Homes".
