Mouse on Mars is Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner.

Overall impression: excellent. This album is wonderful. The sounds just trickle out of your speakers, everything sounds like it's underwater. Lots of analogue bleeps, sweeps and blurbs mixed with big bass, the occasional bizarre sample and really nice (live on some tracks?) drums. Very nicely textured stuff, orderly but with a wonderful sense of happy chaos. The melodies are constantly changing and evolving throughout the tracks, the programming is very interesting. The entire album has an improvisational feel to it. I wish I had someone or something to compare it to, but I don't own anything quite like this album. Perhaps a cross between Orb's "Oblivion" and some of Aphex Twin's playful material. I'd say it's one of the top "IDM" albums of '97.
