COH is Ivan Pavlov, a Russian artist and acoustic engineer working and living in Sweden.  This four track EP, available in cd and clear vinyl double 7", is the much delayed companion piece to the 1998 debut album "Enter Tinnitus".  Both discs feature the same sort of intriguing computer generated, manipulated and sequenced sounds.  "Chickenspin" and "their new polka (mit ionna)" would be right at home on the album, the latter being a re-working of the album track.  Both songs are playfully bizarre with layers of pulsating and swooping tones, pop and click rhythms, speaker rattling bass throbs and a bit of female talking and laughter, presumably by Ionna, on "their new..".  "Silence is golden" is a new version of "speaking tones" with contributions from Peter Christopherson and John Balance of Coil.  Christopherson speaks a moving love lyric by Balance over and in-between alternating sections of dancing tones and ominous drones ... 'my arms around you you'll never grow old'.  "Forty six things i did today" is the final installment of a trilogy begun by Annie Anxiety on the Sentrax "Interiors" compilation, followed by Ivan and his daughter Sasha on "Enter..", and here again by Annie.  The track uses the same music as the album piece with the addition of Annie's spoken list of 46 thoughts and tasks from one day.  As with the album, this cd comes packaged in an anti-static zip lock bag with post card inside, the vinyl version in a more conventional heavy duty clear pouch.  And the cd is of the same design as the raster-noton 20' to 2000 series with 3" of data and a clear outer ring.  Once again, Pavlov, friends and raster-noton have created a beautiful piece of visual and sonic art.  Don't get this because of the Coil appearance, get it because it's COH.  Due soon from raster-noton is the 'disco' LP recorded in 1998 prior to "Enter Tinnitus" entitled "Mask of Birth" ...
