Richard H. Kirk unveils yet another new moniker for his post Cabaret Voltaire solo output with a debut for Germany's Die Stadt label.  The 62 minute album, limited to 1000, comes impressively packaged in a three panel foldup pack with the disc in a pouch in the center and each of the flaps containing three art cards that correspond to 6 of the 8 tracks.  The minimal digitized artwork by Naked Art and The Designers Republic is indicative of the music.  For this project Kirk simply sticks to the essentials for the sound:  synth melodies and sample loops (there's not even a single radio or tv transmission).  But it still shares the same composition technique of most of his other projects:  slowly evolving, elongated climaxes through repetition and time.  It's not really orchestral per se, but it's certainly about as far removed as possible from the other release of 2001, Sandoz's "Afrocentris".  Incidental beats crop up in a few tracks but most of the 'rhythm' is supplied solely by the restrained analog synth patterns.  Not only is the end result quiet and calming, it somewhat surprisingly sounds full and complete.  The final track "Uniform Spaces" changes gears some by looping short, digitally hacked up pieces.  This apparently serves as a segue into the deconstruction of Digital Terrestrial "Aural Illusions", an officially anonymous 12" released the same day by Die Stadt.  I'll let you do the math on that one.  It's good to hear Kirk going in different directions all at once ...
