Lab Report is Matthew Schultz.

Overall impression: good. This is the latest disc from Lab Report, the first since 1997's "Excision". "All Your .." is sound support for a gallery opening that featured Schultz's scupture and shared the same title. Also, unlike previous Lab Report albums, this one is *not* centered around live performanec. According to part of the liner notes:  "this album was created using samples taken entirely from sound cube. those sounds were manipulated in pro-tools. the entire album was sculpted or pieced together as opposed to being played live." That being said, this disc still maintains the minimalistic, eeire Lab Report charm. The songs here are fairly consistent from start to finish. I'm not sure of the sound sources (which is a good thing), but there are bell like tones, high pitched squeels, various distorted and non-distorted drones, metallic clangs and thumpings, mechanical motor sounds, watery sounds, a wind instrument of some kind (on song 6), voices, and long sections of slowed down speech from Jeffery Dahmer's defense attorney on several of the tracks. Nice, mostly dark ambient stuff (except song 5 which has a plucked string type rhythm), it reminds me of many of Coil's computer effected pieces. Overall, a nice slab of sound to scare the neighbors and pets. You won't find this one in your local shop, Schultz is doing it his way. Visit his website below to order the cd, and to view his wonderful artwork (which is unfortunately lacking from the cd insert) ...
