Lard is Al Jourgensen, Paul Barker and Jello Biafra and William Rieflin with Jeff Ward, Rey Washam and Mike Scaccia.

Overall impression: good. Everyone's favorite punk/industrial pranksters are back! "Pure Chewing.." is the first new release from Lard (the Ministry camp augmented by ex-Dead Kennedy head Biafra) since 1990's "The Last Temptation of Reid". This time around, the sound is more metal guitar riff oriented (the album was originally recorded around the time of Ministry's "Psalm 69"), but still retains the wonderfully wry sense of humour of Jello's clever lyrical rants. Unfortunately though, several of the songs are tedious ("Generation..", "Mangoat", "Sidewinder") and Jello seems to be running out of interesting things to rant about. The album is short ... but that's actually a blessing in disguise. Still a fun listen, but I prefer "The Last Temptation of Reid" and "The Power of Lard" ep. The packaging is a big plus:  the 30 page insert is a collage of ridiculous newspaper and tabloid articles and headlines (just like the one that came with Dead Kennedy's "Plastic Surgery Disasters" LP), and the back cover pic of a star spangled bedroom is an all time classic!
