Forty-something-year-old ex-Misfit guitarist Bobby Steele has been churning out punk rock since 1981 via his band The Undead.  "Til Death!" is the very latest in Steele's "Never Say Die" campaign, the first full length studio album in 8 years.  The Undead are one of those bands that I end up getting all the discs just for the half dozen or so cool tracks that each seems to offer.  This album is pretty much the same.  Steele churns out fairly simplistic (musically and lyrically), catchy, lo-fi punk rock tunes.  The best songs are the upbeat anthems like "The Future Kid", "There's a Riot..", "Shadows", "Slave to Fashion" and "I'd Rather Do..".  There's four bland, bitter and whiny love songs that make me cringe:  "Til Death", "I Don't Wanna..", "I'm So Happy" and "Thorn in Your Side".  Please Bobby ... no more love songs!  Stick to what you do best, the upbeat numbers.  "Strange Creatures" begins with a faux orchestration that's just plain bad, but once the guitar kicks in it's a decent tune.  And the cover of the Beatles' "All You Need is Love" is an entertaining punk take on the classic (though it's not nearly as cool as the Foetus cover on their 1996 live album "Boil").  So, I got what I expected:  a handful of cool, old school punk rock songs.  I'll look into the next one whenever it comes out ...
