Heavy duty dub on heavy duty 180 gram vinyl mastered at the legendary Dubplates and Mastering in Berlin. It doesn't get much better than this! Ryan Moore, bass player and drummer for the Legendary Pink Dots and the Tear Garden, keeps himself very busy with his very own genuine analogue dub project. "Dub Plates Volume Two" is his 6th full length release in just 5 years and it is the vinyl only follow-up to 1998's "Dub Plate Selection". The record jacket describes the LP as "a collection of special dubplate mixes and exclusive Twilight Circus tracks previously only available to sound systems and d.j's." There's at least 2 new tracks ("Trinity" and "Iguana") while the rest are new versions of tracks from several past albums. With the previous album "Horsie" Ryan added guitars to the mix but this LP concentrates on raw, stripped down dub workouts. These tracks feature the usual array of colorful sounds, most of which are played live by Ryan: drums and percussion, organ hits/melodies and *deep* bass lines all immersed in a swirling sea of effects and atmospheres. This music sounds amazing on vinyl, especially nice thick quality vinyl such as this. There's a reason vinyl enthusiasts are so die hard and this is it. "Dub Plates Volume Two" is yet another superb collection of tracks and it sure is cool we've been given the chance to own them. Sound files are available at the TC page here. Look for the new Twilight Circus album "Dub Voyage" in mid April and the new Tear Garden album "Crystal Mass" later in the year as well as Ryan on tour with the Pink Dots in the States this May/June ...
