Julien Demoulin, "Everything Forgotten, Everything Remembered"

Sound In Silence is happy to announce the return of Julien Demoulin, presenting his new album Everything Forgotten, Everything Remembered.

This is his third release on the label after the two already sold out albums, Floods by Silencio in 2013, and his debut full-length, under his own name, Loose Ends in 2015.

Julien Demoulin, born in France and currently based in Brussels, Belgium, has done many releases since 2004, initially with his Silencio project and later under his own name and his other project Pandorama. With Silencio he has released six albums, one remix album, two EPs and two singles, under his Pandorama project he has released one album, while under his own name he has released two albums, six EPs and collaboration albums with artists such as Christophe Bailleau, IA and Ross Copeland. His music has been released on many labels, including Audio Gourmet, Resting Bell, Basses Frequences, Time Released Sound, Three:Four Records, Duotone Records, Healing Sound Propagandist and his own Eglantine Records.

Everything Forgotten, Everything Remembered consists of seven compositions of warm ambient, with a total duration of about 43 minutes. Compared to his previous, more upbeat and rhythmic, albums his new one has a more focused compositional approach. Blending dense, breathing electronic sounds, layers of serene drifting synths and delicate loops of hypnotic melodies, with field recordings provided by Frédéric Dufourd (one half of the lo-fi duo Donna), vocal drones provided by Alex Copeland (aka IA) and ethereal vocals by Maryam Sirvan (one half of the electronic duo NUM), Demoulin creates one of his best albums to date.
Everything Forgotten, Everything Remembered is a sublime album of mesmerizing textures and evocative soundscapes, exquisitely mastered by George Mastrokostas (aka Absent Without Leave), which appeals to all fans of artists such as Harold Budd, Stars Of The Lid and A Winged Victory For The Sullen.

Panoptique Electrical, "Decades (2001-2021)"

Sound In Silence is proud to welcome back Panoptique Electrical, presenting his new album Decades (2001-2021), an era-spanning compilation of ambient works, experimental scores and soundtracks.

This is his fourth album on the label after the highly acclaimed Disappearing Music For Face in 2016, Quiet Ecology in 2017 and Five Pianos in 2020.

For over twenty years Jason Sweeney, based on Kaurna Country in South Australia, has been composing and recording either solo, in various electronic bands (Other People’s Children, Pretty Boy Crossover) and under the composer alias of Panoptique Electrical. He has also been directing and creating interactive works for the internet, making experimental films, curating projects for galleries and theatre spaces and has collaborated with and composed for some of Australia’s leading performing arts companies, artists and organisations.

Decades (2001-2021), Panoptique Electrical’s eighth full-length album, spans 20 years of compositions over 70 minutes and 31 tracks. Starting in 2001, with pieces made from lo-fi synth drones, sampled loops and broken pianos, taking us through to more recent works featuring layered atmospheric strings, processed piano, field recordings, cinematic cello performed by frequent collaborator Zoë Barry and cut-up vocal pieces performed by Caroline Daish, Decades (2001-2021) perfectly blends melancholic ambient music, modern classical composition, experimental electronics and evocative soundscapes.
Exquisitely mastered by Room40’s Lawrence English, Decades (2001-2021) is an epic, but personal, record that takes us into the emotional landscape of Sweeney’s compositional world.

Western Edges, "Dependency"

Sound In Silence is proud to welcome back Western Edges, presenting his new album Dependency.

Western Edges is the ambient/electronic solo project of Richard Adams, founder member, alongside his brother Chris, of the legendary Leeds band Hood. Since Hood went on hiatus in 2005, Richard Adams has recorded his music under the moniker of The Declining Winter, either solo or with help of friends such as Martin Cummings (Northerner), Paul Elam (Fieldhead), Mick Harrison (Prolapse, National Screen Service), James Yates (Seamajestea), Barrie Cummings, Joanne Ellis and many others, having released several sublime albums, EPs and singles on labels such as Home Assembly Music, Rusted Rail, Monopsone, Mobeer and Rural Colours, amongst others. He is also member of several other projects such as Memory Drawings, Great Panoptique Winter and Northern Exchange, along with friends such as Joel Hanson (Judgement Of Paris), Sarah Kemp (Brave Timbers, Last Harbour), Gareth S Brown (Hood), Chris Cole (Manyfingers, Movietone), Jason Sweeney (Panoptique Electrical) and others.

Dependency, Western Edges’ second full-length album, consists of nine new tracks, ranging from soothing ambient to dreamy lo-fi electronica and minimal techno. Adams continues exploring the world of ambient and electronic music, blending ethereal pad washes, eerie synth melodies, shimmering electronics, slow moving drones, dubby bass lines and crunchy rhythm patterns, nicely into a fluid mix creating another wonderful album.
Dependency is a re-imagining of the sound of ‘90s garage, techno and ambient music coming out a car radio on an eclectic pirate radio station mixing in with the buffeting air around the hills and valleys of Yorkshire and Lancashire, UK... a journey through remote moorland after a ‘90s rave.
Expertly mastered by George Mastrokostas (aka Absent Without Leave), Dependency is an impressive album, full of blissful soundscapes, gently repetitive motifs, delicate textures, rhythmic electronic impulses, hazy nostalgia and deep heartfelt emotions, which appeals to all fans of DeepChord, Aphex Twin, bvdub, Space Afrika, Boards Of Canada and late-period Hood.

Yellow6, "The Cloud Factory"

Sound In Silence is happy to welcome back Yellow6, presenting his new album The Cloud Factory.

Yellow6 is the solo project of Jon Attwood, based in Leicestershire, UK. During the last two decades he has established himself as one of the foremost purveyors in the ambient/post-rock scene, having released his music on labels such as Enraptured, Make Mine Music, Resonant, Cathedral Transmissions, and his own Editions6, amongst many others. Since 1998 he has played many shows in Europe and North America, and has collaborated with many other artists such as Portal, Thisquietarmy, Absent Without Leave, Caught In The Wake Forever, David Newlyn, Charles Atlas, Stafrænn Hákon and many others too.

The Cloud Factory is made up of ten new tracks with a total duration of about 67 minutes. All tracks were recorded at home between March and May 2021, and were expertly mastered by George Mastrokostas (aka Absent Without Leave).
The past year has been a busy one for Yellow6, with a number of album releases, exploring variations in composition and instrumentation, along with two collaborative projects. After completing For The First And Last, and material for a forthcoming album for Enraptured, both being more focused on beats and distorted guitars, Attwood decided to shift the focus, in part inspired by recent work by Warren Ellis and Nick Cave’s soundtrack work, and the varied minimalist approach of Philip Glass and Burial among others. Rather than the previously used approach of anchoring each tune on arpeggiated and delayed guitars to set the tone, these tracks have a greater focus on more abstract and heavily effected loops, topped with repeating intertwining clear and clean guitars, which was helped by a change to a more minimal effects board.

Hotel Neon, "Moments"

Hotel Neon is an ambient trio, geographically spread between Philadelphia, Baltimore and Virginia Beach, USA. Formed in 2013 as a duo by twin brothers Andrew and Michael Tasselmyer, Hotel Neon expanded into a trio when Steven Kemner joined them in 2015. To date they have released five albums on labels such as Home Normal, Fluid Audio and Archives, a 10” vinyl split with Endless Melancholy on Thesis, and a single on Past Inside The Present. They have also self-released a remix album, two tour cassettes and four singles, two of which collaborating with Slow Meadow and one with Blurstem. Hotel Neon have toured with the likes of Benoît Pioulard, Lowercase Noises, Slow Meadow, Loscil, The Sight Below, Marcus Fischer and Christopher Tignor, filling a variety of performance spaces from galleries to cathedrals with their densely layered walls of sound, while all three members have also been active either as solo artists or in groups and projects such as The Sound Of Rescue, Gray Acres, Solidarity Hymn, Mordançage and Transient Sounds.

Moments, Hotel Neon’s sixth full-length album and first for Sound In Silence, consists of seven evocative tracks with a total duration of something more than 36 minutes. Recorded in the span of just eight weeks and done remotely, Moments is definitely one of the more minimal and textural albums Hotel Neon have ever made. Proving that they avoid repeating themselves with every album, on Moments there is certainly a stronger presence of more orchestral sounds than on their previous albums. Widening their sound palette with more swelling strings, moving orchestral elements, and subtle piano melodies, along with their usual textured layers of hazy guitars, glassy drones, soothing pads and field recordings, Hotel Neon offer one of their best albums to date.
Mastered by Taylor Deupree, Moments is a truly touching masterpiece which appeals to all fans of artists such as Stars Of The Lid, Hammock and A Winged Victory For The Sullen.

Yellow6, "Silent Streets And Empty Skies"

Cover of Yellow6 - Silent Streets And Empty SkiesYellow6, the solo project of British guitarist Jon Attwood, first came to my attention through his collaboration with Thisquietarmy for the 2011 album "Death Valley," but Attwood himself has been active in since 2000. Recorded between April and June of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, the title of his latest is an indicator of the eerie lack of traffic, people in the streets, and vapor trails from air traffic from a neighboring airport. The fresh time to reflect and social distance—along with the purchase a new guitar—inspired Attwood to create nine pieces of beautifully layered electric guitar and effects that instill calm, to be enjoyed as ambient background music or appreciated for the guitar craft. The sparse, delicate sounds parlay a stillness of these strange times; a stillness that can be both disturbing and enriching, and wrapped in contemplation.

Panoptique Electrical, "Five Pianos"

Sound In Silence is happy to announce the return of Panoptique Electrical, presenting his new album Five Pianos.

This is his third album on the label after the highly acclaimed Disappearing Music For Face in 2016 and Quiet Ecology in 2017.

Five Pianos is comprised of five long-form meditative compositions, written for recent theatre and installation works, with a total duration of about 40 minutes. The brief with many of these compositions was to create space and quietness but also to thread together a prepared piano sound evocative of weather shifts, radio frequencies, pulsation of electromagnetic vibrations and a resignation to human sadness.
Carefully mastered by George Mastrokostas (aka Absent Without Leave), Five Pianos is a wonderful album of ambient piano for immersions, highly recommended for fans of Harold Budd, Sylvain Chauveau, Antonymes, Library Tapes and Akira Kosemura.

Yellow6, "Silent Streets And Empty Skies"

Sound In Silence is proud to welcome back Yellow6, presenting his new album Silent Streets And Empty Skies.

Silent Streets And Empty Skies is made up of nine calming tracks with a total duration of about 77 minutes. All tracks, recorded at home between April and June 2020 during the lockdown due to coronavirus, were inspired by the lack of traffic and people in the streets, and, being near an airport, the unusual lack of vapour trails in the sky. Living in a large village on the edge of a city, Attwood had a lot of freedom to walk, visit local parks and cycle maintaining plenty of distance from others and appreciating how quiet the streets and empty the skies were at that time. His reaction to lockdown from a creative perspective was some degree of compulsion to make music. Buying a new guitar proved inspiring and sparked a wave of new material, which makes up this album. Yellow6 offers one of his finest works to date, utilizing layers of haunting guitar melodies, loops of ambient textures, minimal beats and droning feedback.
Expertly mastered by George Mastrokostas (aka Absent Without Leave), Silent Streets And Empty Skies is a wonderful album of cinematic soundscapes, highly recommended for devotees of artists such as Labradford, Low, Brian McBride and Windy & Carl.
