The release date for Black Ships Ate the Sky, Current 93's long overdue follow-up to 2000's Sleep Has His House, has been pushed back again to January/February of 2006.
An early version of the album's seven-minute title track was released
earlier this year in the form of the mysterious "Coptic" CD for sale at
Current 93's Toronto shows, at which the Current 93 live ensemble also
performed a few tracks destined for the new album. It was already
announced months ago that the album was to include special guest
appearances by Antony, Marc Almond, Will Oldham AKA Bonnie "Prince"
Billy, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Ben Chasny, Simon Finn, Michael Cashmore,
Pantaleimon and Steven Stapleton, but Durtro.com has just announced
that the album will also feature vocal guest spots from Shirley Collins
and Mellow Candle's Clodagh Simonds. Is it possible that the new
Current 93 album will have even more guest stars than the new Kanye
West album? I'm sure Pharrell and Ludacris are available to spit
some apocalyptic shizzle on a track or two, should it become necessary.
