Aphex Twin "Windowlicker" Sire Records 35005-3 1999 (10:32)

Windowlicker (9:27)

Windowlicker directed by Chris Cunningham, Produced by Cindy Burmay. Music by Richard D. James.

Overall impression: good. Once again, Richard D. James teams up with acclaimed director Chris Cunningham with humorous results (see also Aphex Twin "Come to Viddy"). Windowlicker starts with 2 filthy-mouthed homies cruisin' for chicks in a slick black convertible. They roll up on 2 chicks and attempt to negotiate the women into the car but fail miserably. At about the four minute mark a very, very long stretch limo knocks the homies car out of the way. RDJ is inside, steps out and kicks into a complicated Michael Jackson style dance routine (this is also the point the song starts). Next is scenes of RDJ in the limo with the chicks, who now all have RDJ's face, as usual per Aphex Twin videos. The homies pursue the limo through the streets to the beach, where RDJ and the girls are doing a synchronized dance routine with Aphex logo umbrellas. There is one particularly ugly RDJ-faced girl that the homies are checking out from behind 'til she turns around and horrifies them. RDJ pops the cork on a bottle of champagne (which signals a more distorted section of the song) and the rest of the video is slo-mo shots of the wet girls dancing. Funny stuff thanks to the collective senses of humour of RDJ and Chris Cunningham and a groovy new song from James. Not as cool as the "Come to Daddy" vid, but still worth the $4. Check for the 3 track cd single on 3/23 which is also supposed to have the video ...
