RIAA REACTS POSITIVELY TO NEGATIVELAND In case you've been living underneath a rock for the last year or so, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) has set new guidelines on samples, laying down new laws that can hold pressing plants liable now for manufacturing music without cleared samples. The RIAA is the organization that also delves out Grammys to the crappiest, easiest-digestible, money-making tripe, so pulling another stunt to suppress creative, independent music is no shocker. Negativland has been fighting these battles with the RIAA and other big powers for years dating back to the U2 problems. For more info on the battle, check out www.negativland.com/riaa/positiv.html for the developments over the last week.

MOVIES REVIEWED |
WINGS OF THE DOVE Not a bad movie. I usually like period pieces if for nothing more than the costumes. What puts this movie miles ahead of the competition is NAKED HELENA BONHAM-CARTER. I kept rewinding the same 4-second scene over and over (my girlfriend had to finally relieve me of the remote). I'd give this movie a 3 rating out of 4 points. But as a naked Helen Bonhom_carter movies go, this one gets an unprecedented 5 stars. - Thomas Guttadauro

HAPPY DAY-OFF TO ALL THE LAZY AMERICANS As you may know, the first Monday in September is called "Labor Day", where we celebrate 'working' by taking a day off. In most countries around the world, employees are given 3-6 weeks vacation time per year, in the USA, we're lucky if we get paid for 2 weeks. In many other countries, the work day ends around 4pm, in the USA, work hours are becoming greyer and greyer. We're working longer and getting less time off, more people are getting laid off and 'independent contracting' is on the rise - you get what you work for and don't get a break for anything. All for what? So we can have days like "Labor Day" where we pack up the car and spend hours in traffic to get to a beach or some other touristy trap, spend the day fighting with our families and fighting with strangers, giving heavy thought as to how much working in this day and age really sucks. That's only if you're luck enough to get the day off.
