- In Memoriam
Yemenite pop singer Ofra Haza died this past Wednesday of organ failure at a hospital in Tel Aviv. Her introduction to the Western pop world came from vocal samples
used in "Pump Up the Volume" by M|A|R|R|S and the Coldcut remix of "Paid in Full"
by Eric B and Rakim. These got the attention of Sire Records and her
first albums were released in the USA and Europe. Her most heard vocal
performance, however was that of Moses' mother in "The Prince of
Egypt." She will be missed.
