FORTHCOMING RELEASES:

  • The Legendary Pink Dots
    "EL KALEIDOSCOPO TERMINAL"
  • Edward Kaspel
    "O'ER A SHALABST'R TYDE STROLT AY" LP & CD
  • Tear Garden
"EYE SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE" CD

"El Kaleidoscopo Terminal" is the title of a new "best of" CD, soon to be released on Mexican label Noise Kontrol Discs. Caciocavallo will do a vinyl edition and distribute the CD version in the US.

The double CD version of "Textures of Illumina" was released in March.

"Synesthesia" is the title of a CD of previously unreleased LPD recordings which was released in March on Italian label SPKR. It's described by Edward Ka-Spel as a "companion to the CP box".

And as if this wasn't enough, another Edward Kaspel LP/CD will be relased by Beta Lactam Ring Recordings in late April/October (respectively). The title is "O'er A Ahalabast'r Tyde Strolt Ay". Tracks include "An Ill Wind", "O'Riley's Comet" and "Safer Than The Open". Listen to soundclips at the BLLR site. The CD version, set for an October release, will include remixed versions of the LP tracklist as well as bonus material.

Subsconscious are planning to release a series of "outtake" CDs with many of their artists under the title "FRom tHE vAult". This includes a Teargarden outtake CD entitled "Eye Spy With My Little Eye ". It will be released sometime next year, and will be limited edition of 1000. To be sure to get a copy, one might "subscribe" and get all "FRom tHE vAult" CDs at a special price. Read more about it here.

"BRAIN IN THE WIRE":

The compilation CD "Brain in the Wire" includes the exclusive LPD track "Old Sparky". It was originally given away to subscribers of The Wire. Now it's released "officially" by Brainwashed Recordings, this time with a second disc of (non-LPD) material from various artists who reside on Brainwashed. A 'secret' third disc will contain a few surprises. Read more here.

OFFICIAL LIVE ARCHIVE UPDATE:

Five whole new LPD concerts are now available from theLPD Official Live Archive. The shows in question are Amsterdam 1986-01-07, London 1990-05-12, Wuppertal 1991-06-12, Chicago 1993-05-15 and Copenhagen 1995-09-18. It's fun, it's free and it's MP3!

"CASTE O' GRAYE SKREEENS"

Brand new Edward Ka-spel solo album album entitled "Caste o' Graye Skreeens" has now been released by TEKA / World Serpent. The album consists of two tracks; "Our Captain's Eye" and "Lights Out". The CD is a digipak, "My first" says a proud Edward. Jon Whitney has reviewed the album in The Brain. Go there to read the review and listen to soundclips.

SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:

Beta Lactam Ring Recordings have released "A Perfect Mystery" on vinyl (with an extra side of unreleased material), and the Russian Teargarden compilation "For Those Who Walk With the Gods" has seen the light of day. Soleilmoon has also re-released the classic Legendary Pink Dots album "Island of Jewels" from 1986 and "The Lovers" from 1985. The latter has fully restored artwork, featuring "all five faces".

THE DOTS AND THE CURRENT SITUATION:

"To put it mildly, it has been a traumatic year so far. Unexpected and unwelcomed changes in the Dots' line-up could not have occurred at a more awkward time, and it meant a hectic, nervous preparation for the European tour. Having said that, the later shows felt particularly joyful and now the debate concerns whether the band actually needs to expand ...or not.

Recordings for the next LPD album begin in the Autumn, and there are tentative plans to work with a drummer, a cello player and even a brass band. Whatever happens, the Dots plan a return to USA and Canada next Summer.

Slowly the band is recovering from what seemed to be quite a crisis at the beginning of the year. The disappearance of so much of our back catalogue for 2-3 years indeed put us in trouble (as you are aware, there are many mouths to feed at Chez Dots), but a big thank you to Soleilmoon, SPV Poland and Beta Lactam Ring Records for putting things back together.

Sing while you may"

(Extracts from a recent LPD newsletter)

LPDs CONTRIBUTE TO NEW CEVIN KEY SOLO LP:

Cevin Key's new album is called "The Ghost of Each Room". Edward Ka-Spel sings on one track, and other Dots can be heard performing as well. Visit Metropolis Records for more info.

MORE RE-ISSUES:

"The Maria Dimension", "Shadow Weaver", "The Golden Age" and "Any Day Now" have now been re-released by SPV Poland, and more LPD re-issues are to come. All CDs have new artwork, which bears no resemblence to the original covers. Curious? More info here.

EXCLUSIVE LPD TRACK ON BENEFIT CD:

A new compilation CD from moving on music features an exclusive Pink Dots track entitled "Out There Pt 2", which is a companion track to the first track on the forthcoming Chemical Playschool boxset. It's available now from TEKA mailorder (38 Dutch guilders/20 US $). For more info visit Moving On Music's website.

LOVE AND LOUD COLOURS - UPDATE:

Production is still underway for an illustrated book of lyrics by Edward Ka-Spel, which will also include a CD-single featuring an exclusive four-part EK creation. The collection will be available mostly through mail order, but, if supplies last, copies will be available at select Legendary Pink Dot appearances following publication.

Production update: the music and corrected lyrics arrived from Holland in the spring of 2001. As such, we'd like to set a new (and hopefully final) publication date of 23 January 2002 (with heartfelt apologies to the anticipant and ever-patient). Advance reservations (without payment yet) are being accepted now for the first 834 copies, which will be numbered and beribboned. For more information, go to the website at its new address: www.loveandloudcolours.com.

FIRST SOLEILMOON RE-RELEASES ARE NOW AVAILABLE:

"The Crushed Velvet Apocalypse" (1990) and "The Golden Age" (1989) have now been re-released on CD. Visit www.soleilmoon.com for more info.

EXIT FRANK VERSCHUUREN - ENTER RAYMOND STEEG:

After six years with the Legendary Pink Dots Frank Verschuuren (aka Frankie Pett) has decided to move on to other things. New soundman is Raymond Steeg, who worked with the Dots in the early nineties. Raymond will do the sound on the current european tour.

EXIT RYAN MOORE:

Ryan Moore has left the Legendary Pink Dots. A message from Ryan can be found here.

CRYSTAL MESS:
The brand new Tear Garden CD, "Crystal Mass" has been released by Nettwerk in North America. The track listing, however is rather mismatched to the track numbers on the CD. While we here at brainwashed are still awaiting confirmation on the music, we can say with 100% certainty that track one is "Lament" while two different songs share track four. Those songs which share track four and the rest of the CD have been debated upon.

FAQs:
A new section has been added to the website, a Frequently Asked Questions place where the band themselves have answered some of the questions that have been asked a lot as of late. This has no overlap from the FAQ from the Cloud-Zero mailing list, so please take a look as there are newsworthy items in there.
