Brainwashed Archives

Brainwashed.com opened its doors in April of 1996 to host Web sites for groups Meat Beat Manifesto, Greater Than One, and within a year was building and hosting the most comprehensive public resources for groups like Nurse With Wound, Current 93, Cabaret Voltaire, Coil, Throbbing Gristle, Death In June, Diamanda Galas, HNAS, and The Legendary Pink Dots. Since then, official sites and/or archives have been created for Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Fridge, Jessica Bailiff, Windy & Carl, Volcano the Bear, Aranos, V/Vm, Bowery Electric, Stars of the Lid, Matmos, Gordon Mumma, Bedhead & The New Year, Luke Vibert, Bomb the Bass, Charles Atlas, Sybarite, Labradford, Organum, Thighpaulsandra, Little Annie Anxiety, Andrew Chalk, Christoph Heemann, Andreas Martin, and more.

Brainwashed Archives is a campaign to issue music from some of these acts from the vaults, either reissuing rare and out-of-print material or making music available on CD for the first time, restoring artwork, and meticulously remastering, when needed.

We launch in 2008 with three releases from Greater Than One: All The Masters Licked Me (1987, Side Effects Records); London (1987-1988, WaxTrax!); and G-Force (1989-1991, WaxTrax!). Each disc is a multiple set with material never issued before on CD. All The Masters Licked Me contains the entire album of Trust, recorded as a "first attempt" at All The Masters... but issued on LP (We Never Sleep, US) and CS (Roir) a number of years later. London contains the entire Dance of the Cowards release as well as all the material from the Roir cassette Duty + Trust, two compilation tracks, and a bonus DVD of projections and music videos. G-Force completes the set and the Greater Than One recordings with the inclusion of the singles "I Don't Need God," "Utopia," and "Index." The expanded Index CD has the entire music from Video Drug 1, a rare video compilation released only in Japan in 1991 as well as tracks from obscure compilations and one previously unreleased cut, "Storm the Dancefloor."

Future projects are in the works for a number of the aforemetioned groups but announcements will only be made as they're official. To not miss an announcement, sign up for the brainwashed announcement list at hollyfeld.org/mailman/listinfo/brainwashed.
