RECOGNITION For his production contributions to contemporary music, Jack Dangers is so noted with an in-depth major entry in the prestigious new publication, The Encyclopedia of Record Producers, just released September by Billboard Books. The encyclopedia features essays on 500 of the most influential record producers, slected by its writers Eric Olsen, Paul Verna and Carlo Wolff, further supplimented with detailed production discographies.

SPIN-CYCLE Mr. Dangers' deejay dream series of wild breaks n' bits is Tino's Breaks, a side project/collaboration between Chicago-based DHS/H-Gun mastermind, Ben Stokes along with former MBM member Mike Powell. The team have just released Tino's Breaks Volume 3 - Christmas Breaks and Mambo - Tino's Breaks Volume 4 on Tino Corp Records. ANON The exclusive MBM track, "Anon" will appear on the benefit compilation, Earthdance, releasing this fall on Virgin Records worldwide in association with Higher Octave Records in the USA. It will first be released via the internet to coincide with events and parties scheduled in 100 cities, followed by a full retail release to raise funds for World Artists for Tibet. This 14-track album also includes music by Orbital, Underworld, Uberzone, Fatboy Slim, Gus Gus, Omni Trio, Q Burns Abstract Message, and Banco de Gaya.

BETTER LIVING THROUGH CIRCUITRY Jack Dangers gets the celluloid spotlight as one of the interviewed artists in Jon Weiss's feature length film, Better Living Through Circuitry, currently on tour in major cities across the USA with the Resfest Digital Film Festival. BLTC is a documentary exploration of the digital world of dance music/electronic music and its culture with performances and tracks by: BT, Jason Bentley, Frankie Bones, Carl Cox, Michael Doug, Moby, Psychic TV, Ronnie Size, Scanner and Uberzone. The film premiered at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival and has played the Chicago Underground Film Festival, The Seattle International Film Festival and at CMJ in NYC.

IN A BLAIR WITCH MOMENT The producers who assembled the film of the found footage of the Blair Witch Project contacted MBM central to inform us they found a mix tape in Josh's car which contained the track, "She's Unreal". They requested permission to include the song on a compilation to accompany the film project alongside Lydia Lunch, Afghan Whigs, PiL, and Bauhaus. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of the kids.

OFF TO THE LAND OF THE RISING SUN Japanese fans are in for a tasty treat as MBM will be performing in the following places:

MBM SFC MBM will be performing at the Maritime Hall in San Francisco on Friday, June 11th. Also on the bill will be DJ Hive. A support act is as of yet to be announced but we'll have information about that soon.

LA SHOW ANNOUNCED MBM will be playing a special show on Saturday, May 15th at the Santa Monica Civic Center in Los Angeles. Also on the bill are EBN, DJ Hive, and Jason Bentley.

MBM IN THE MATRIX... MBM album track (from Actual Sounds + Voices) "Prime Audio Soup" appears in the upcoming film, Matrix, a sci-fi fantasy starring Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne . "Prime Audio Soup" is likewise included on the soundtrack album which releases March 30th on Maverick Records. Titled, The Matrix, Music from the Motion Picture, the soundtrack also features tracks by Marilyn Manson, Propellerheads, Ministry, Rob D., Lunatic Calm, Prodigy, Rob Zombie, Deftones, Hive, Monster Magnet, Rammstein and Rage Against the Machine.

THE SOURCE OF UNCERTAINTY The previously unreleased MBM track, "Source of Uncertainty" is featured on the new OM Records compilation, Convergence. Convergence: is a collection of the foremost underground dance producers fusing live elements (from live musicians to DJ turntablists) with electronic-sourced music. Other tracks by Jonah Sharp, DJ Vadim, Ming & FS, Fila Brazilia, etc.

BABYLON AND ON AND ON Meat Beat Manifesto's groundbreaking dance floor classic, "Radio Babylon" gets the cut and paste on the massive mix album, Prodigy present The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One. Elsewise mixed-up talent includes: Herbie Hancock, Chemical Bros., Beastie Boys, Barry White, T La Rock, Propellerheads, LL Cool J, Cold Cut, Public Enemy, D.S.T, Renegade Soundwave, etc.

PLUCKING STACCATO The upcoming compilation, Electro Lounge stirring-up the Lounge revival with today's dance scene features the Meat Beat Manifesto remix of "Staccato" originally recorded by Elmer Bernstein. Other artists 'lounging around': Uberzone, Utah Saints, Wagonchrist, Gus Gus, Q- Burns Abstract Message, Eat-Static, Mu-zig, Gearwhore, Tranquillity Bass, Omni Trio, Front BC - releasing June 8th by The Right Stuff/EMI.

SPINNING WILDLY Jack Dangers will be teaming with Future Primitives turntablist, DJ Disc for a performance at the Justice League on Friday, April 16th in San Francisco. Also on the bill, experimental hip hop act, Live Human, DJ Hive, DJ Craze,Jungleist, Tic Tac with spoken word artists to be announced leading off the evening.

MBM WINS AT THE CALIFORNIA MUSIC AWARDS! MBM have received the first ever California Music Award for 'Outstanding Electronic Album' for their release, Actual Sounds + Voices. Other nominees in this category were UNKLE, Cirrus, Gearwhore and God Lives Underwater. Held at the Bill Graham Civic Center Auditorium in San Francisco on March 13th, the 22nd Annual Bammies award ceremony was broadcast by the WB television network, in addition to two local radio stations. Each artist nominated must be a resident of California and is selected for outstanding creativity by a panel of 125 music critics. The winners were selected by statewide public ballot through BAM Magazine, a highly respected California-based music magazine..

MBM would like to thank all of the California resident supporters for voting for them.

EURO ZOMBIES IN FOR A TREAT! Jack Dangers will play three dates later this month alongside Ben Stokes of DHS & H-Gun Fame: The first two dates are with Nicole Blackman, poet, friend, family. You might remember her from recent Golden Palominos and Bill Laswell projects.

MARCH MANIFESTATIONS Meat Beat Manifesto has contributed, "Source of Uncertainty," a previosly unreleased MBM track to the upcoming Om Records compilation, Convergence, highlighting artists and tracks that hybridize electronic and live instrumentation. The album, which also includes tracks by Jonah Sharp, DJ Vadim and Carl Craig among others and releases on March 9th.

This compilation has a publication companion piece in the next issue of XLR8R, who has made this 'convergence' and its featured artists on the cover story which premieres and have special distribution at the Winter Music Convention in Miami. MBM's "Source of Uncertainty" features Herbie Hancick alumni musicians, Pat Gleeson on Arp 2600 and Bennie Maupin on saxophones.

REVOLVING BACKWARDS ...on into the tail end of '98 releases, MBM's track, "Transmission (Stately Dub Mix)" appears on the Pop Mafia compilation, Loop: The Cut and Paste Groove Collection which previously appeared only on the PIAS released UK/European version of that Subliminal Sandwich single. Other artists in the Loop includes: Coldcut, Grassy Knoll, Bugs, Pistel, and Bentley Rhythm Ace.
