Beyond website move and Sandoz site
"the site has now taken up a more permanent residence at http://www.obsolete.com/beyond/ but there is also a site for sandoz there: http://www.obsolete.com/sandoz/ . it's not really much of a site, but it does have some samples of the tracks on there....nothing major to link to yet but i hope to expand that and the electronic eye pages too with kirk's input." Chris McGrail (chris@obsolete.com)

Sandoz
Jeff (jfg@aber.ac.uk) initially informed me of this release. "Every man got dreaming" came out in November (1995) and is a pretty damn essential slab of ambient dub. Album of the year. 7 tracks, and it might even be Richard singing on "Glass Factory". The album gets better as it goes on, and the last two tracks are perfect. Buy or die.

Chris Watson again
I've added a new Chris Watson page, because he's almost released something! His new album, "Stepping into the Dark" has been put back until spring 1996. In the mean time, one of the tracks is available on the Touch Sampler (see below).

Sandoz' "Dark Continent" on CD
Dark Continent has now been deleted on vinyl, but good news! It should be coming out on CD in sping 1996. In the mean time, you can get one of the tracks (Orgasmatron) on a mail-order only CD (Touch Sampler - T_Zero_1) from Touch. (Address on back of Touch CDs.)

The Electronic Eye's "The Idea Oof Justice"
Yep, it's out at last. It's rather good, being less ambient and more ambient dub than the last album.

State of the group (11th October)
"Mal and Richard are still the best of friends :) and haven't really made a permanent split, so if cosmic forces bring them together in the studio again, We will once again be able to experience Cabaret Voltaire."
Travis Calley

Six Mile High remixes by Mal
"Six Mile High will be releasing a new single called "Homebaker" [3rd Nov 1995] with two remixes by Mal, The Loco mix which is a tranced out spacey mix, and the Molecule au gogo mix which is in a more 'radio friendly' techno-pop style."
Travis Calley (Six Mile High's keyboard player)

El Loco
Mal has formed a new band with Travis Calley (Six Mile High's keyboard player). Check this page out for latest info.

Chris Watson!
"Martin Rev of techno muso faves Suicide makes his first two ever European solo appearances this weekend, at Manchester Hacienda (September 13) and Disobey, upstairs at London Highbury Grange (14); he's joined by former Cabaret Voltaire and Hafler Trio man Chris Watson on both dates..."
NME (Vibes: flyers section) 13th September 1995

Nort
I have received this message< (11th September 1995) about a new CD called "Timelapsed". It contains at one track by Nort (under the name HED II) who appeared on 2x45. It's on a new label from Sheffield, so it can't be that bad.

The Number of Magic
Richard H. Kirk's new album "The Number of Magic" came out on the 3rd July 1995 in the UK, (but a week earlier in the US). Click here for a crap review, by yours truly.
Thanks to Rex (mgullick@facstaff.wisc.edu) for the US information.

Ambient Dub Volume 4: Jellyfish
This CD was released by Beyond (UK) on the 26th June 1995. Track eight on this CD is by Sandoz. It is White Darkness (Electronic Eye Remix). This remix (by RHK of RHK !) is exclusive to this release.

Grey Area re-releases
OK, Richard H. Kirk's "Ugly Spirit" and "Black Jesus Voice" were (re-)released by Mute's Grey Area on 13th February 1995. I believe that this is the first time these have been available on CD.

Date: Mon, 27 Feb 1995 22:01:01 -0500 The last news I heard about them was in an article in an alternative music magazine over here, I believe it was B-Side Magazine, in which Richard Kirk stated that Mallinder has gone to Australia to work on his studies (????) and that Kirk would be concentrating on his solo stuff, such as the Electronic Eye, Sandoz, etc.etc... but that MAYBE he would join up with Mal in Australia. If that happens, I think we can be sure that something interesting will come from their Australian collaboration. Kirk also stated that now that they are done with their ambient trilogy, fans can expect something different next time around. He was unsure whether Mallinder would begin to sing again, however.
