Mute best-of and Nag Nag Nag
Cabaret Voltaire - Best Of '78/'82 CD (Mute) [MUTE9190CD:f] $15.25 10/15/02.
Cabaret Voltaire - Nag Nag Nag [NOMU103CD:f] Novamute $7.25 "Originally
out in 1979 on Rough Trade, Cabaret Voltaire's electro punk classic
'Nag Nag Nag' will now be available on novamute on CD and 2 x 12" and
features the timeless original version together with brand new. Tiga
and Zyntherius have contributed to the package with a re-vocalled
rework which bears all the hall-marks of an intense 'labour of love'
approach to the project. Tiga's vocal punks-up the original whilst
Zyntherius's (Jori Hulkonnen) backing track propels the track firmly
into the 21st Century. Techno whizz, man of the moment, Montreal's
Akufen pushes the track into the stratosphere combining 2-step, techno,
house, electro and bossa-nova. Even by Akufen current high standards
this remix is,as they say 'next level' shit. The Cabs' own Richard Kirk
in turn has completed an intensely spot-on remix which retains all the
excitement and atmosphere of the original." (Source: Danny Thierens)

Chant to Jah remixes
Soul Jazz have announced that they are to release a 12" of remixes from Chant To Jah. (The pressing quality of the previous
'King Dread'/'Higher than that' 12" was excellent). Hats off to Soul Jazz for supporting RHK in a way he deserves. (source: Jean-Marc Lawton)

More Chris and Mal
Chris Watson has about 8 minutes of new material on Ash 6.6 - a various artists compilation which may be
called 'X' and celebrates "the tenth anniversary of the moment when, at 12 noon on 27th of May 1992, the
State of Elgaland~Vargaland was proclaimed by Leif Elggren, founder of Elgaland, and CM von Hausswolff,
founder of Vargaland". Typical Ash artiness then. Double CD in the same packaging as Mesmer, A
Fault in the Nothing and Antiphony. (source: nic)
Meanwhile, "Mal's Ku-Ling Brothers have a remix CD out featuring Offworld artists remixed by themselves! It's
entitled "Eat The Rich" and I think you can order it from "Substrata" in Australia." (source: Tim Lawless).

New CV Book
"Industrial Evolution - through the eighties with Cabaret Voltaire" by Mick Fish contains all the text from "The Art of the
Sixth Sense (2nd Ed.)" and 200 pages of new material. See SAF Publishing.
NOTE: Richard H Kirk does NOT like this book, and finds it inaccurate and misleading. Reader discretion is advised. (source: nic)

Disc X
For those who didn't get it (and shame on you ;-) Brainwashed's "Brain (not) in the wire (Disc X)" contains "The Apollo Creed"
by Ku-Ling Bros - a solid stab of fun-filled humourous funk. (source: nic, pat)

More news
Brainwashed's own box set (Brain in the Wire) very limited, super-secret extra disc "Disc X" is very strongly rumoured to contain something of
interest to CV fans. Jon Whitney said, "yes, something arrived in the mail for me from overseas for disc x this past week that i think cv fans
might want to have."
Soul Jazz Records are re-releasing Sandoz (in dub)'s "Chant to Jah". Moreover, there's a 12" of "King Dread/Higher than that" out too.
(sources: Danny Thierens, Clive Harris).
Die Stadt will be putting out a non-limited version of "Here and Elsehwere" (source: Jean-Marc Lawton)

Catch-up
Apologies cab-fans for the lateness in this info. Some of this shuld have been posted last month. - nic
'Conform to Deform' - various unreleased/rare/12"/video only/live tracks from the Virgin/EMI period is out in a great 3xCD box set. (Good VFM too).
'The Original Sound of Sheffield' - the 12"s from the Virgin/EMI period (excluding GL&N!) is out on a mid-price CD. (I wish I hadn't had my record
player fixed now).
Chris Watson has some recordings on the Touch CD "Ringtones". (Warning: all the recordings on this release are only a few seconds long).
Mal has been busy DJing and had his skills featured on one CD in a double CD set called "Mix-Up Vol.1". He was also interviewed in '3D World'. -
Chris Tourgelis and Walter Ruiz
Sandoz: 'Afrocentris' should be out very soon.
Will the RHK remixes of Just Fascination get a release? Does any of CV feature on the very limited "Disc X" of the "
Brain in the Wire" compliation (available to pre-order). Does the Jenny Divers
live CD exist? Will the new Chris Watson CD be released this year? ... Watch this space ...
