CV reunion rumour mill
"A close friend of mine, Nick McEntee, works as a music journalist. Earlier today he was interviewing an Australian rock band called Jebediah (not sure if that's the correct spelling). After the interview he was talking with the bands manager about electronic music and the subject of Cabaret Voltaire came up.
"The manager then said that he was a friend of Stephen Mallinder's, and that the Cabs were reuniting. Unfortunately Nick didn't press him for any more info, but he said that it sounded like Mal was definitely going to be involved with the Cabs reunion."

"This came from These Records by post:

"'The Master Musicians of Joujouka plus 'special guests' on each night. 11 (with Richard H Kirk) 12, 13 October @ The Garage, Highbury, N5 Note: this is the Hamri led version of the group, not Bachir Attars "Joujouka".'

"These Records aren't selling the tickets so I guess it will be the same set up as before. Afraid it does not mention any free cds this time." - Andrew Garratt <amg5@york.ac.uk>

'Also available exclusively from the Mute Bank is the Richard H Kirk CD given away at last week's Irregular #4 event. This one track 32 minute CD (IRREG4CD), "Knowledge Through Science" costs 4.99 pounds plus postage and packing.' [Actually, it's 37:19 minutes --ed.]

Mute Cabs?
"The rumour mill continues to turn." - Ross <gescom@aol.com>

"According to a very reliable source, whom I can not name, Cabaret Voltaire is planning to release a new album on the Mute Records imprint late this year."

July
'Ere I ad this Paul Smith in the back of the cab the other day...
"Well, I was with Paul Smith (Blast First) in Sheffield a few weeks ago, when he was chatting with Richard Kirk about the possibility of the Cabs reforming. It seems that Kirk is now going to do a solo performance, so possibly Chris Watson wasn't interested & Mallinder is far away in Australia." - John Everall <john.sentrax@mail.ndirect.co.uk>

TRAFFICANTE
Richard has a new album out on Alphaphone (UK) under the pseudonym Trafficante called "Is this now?". Marketed as a "special edition" this no doubt explains the el-cheapo (or is that minimal, artistic) white cardboard sleeve sporting a sticker on both front and back.

More importantly: the music. There are 8 tracks of new material in a more raw format than some of the more recent highly-polished releases. But this is all for the better as the music on offer appeals in both an emotional and (a beat-driven) physical sense. If you love Richard H Kirk, but had thought he was starting to go off the boil - well you're in for a shock - the man is back!

LIVE APPEARANCE
Cabaret Voltaire still exists! Only now it's just Richard on his own. So for the first time in er, a long time, CV will be appearing live in London during Kraftwerk's Electronic music festival (on the South Bank). I think this in October.
Note: Kraftwerk cancelled, so never mind... --Ty 14.10.98
