Honey Owens has been an important figure in the Portland experimental music scene for more than 10 years, collaborating with an array of both oscure and well-known music projects including World, Nudge, Dark Yoga and Jackie-O Motherfucker. Blood is Clean is the debut release under the name Valet and is due for release on kranky on April 16th.

Sleazy Runs Rampant

Peter Christopherson of Coil has announced some forthcoming items at ThresholdHouse.com, including Form Goes Rampant, a CD/DVD of The Threshold Houseboys Choir "under the direction of Peter Christopherson," featuring videos and music previously shown in St. Petersburg and the Brainwaves festival, as well as an LP edition of The Ape of Naples to be released by Important Records.

MBM & GTO Facelifts

Brainwashed's first two band pages, Meat Beat Manifesto and Greater Than One have undergone facelifts. The GTO page now has a page for YouTubed music videos as well as links to the shop at iTunes, where out of print recordings are being made again, while the MBM site has a link to their new official online shop.

VTB: new releases / new mail order

New releases from Volcano the Bear include Eggs and Two Books, a live recording from the VTB quartet recorded in Leicester as part of the Eggstock festival in May 2006; Birth of Streisand 7" from No-Fi; and Massive Furniture Invasion 8" lathe cut from alt.vinyl. European tour dates are being worked out for the autumn of 2007 and there's more releases due soon.

In case you haven't noticed, we've been building a little collection to the right hand side there of free MP3s. Although Brainwashed was the first music reviewing Web site to give sample MP3s with every review back in the late '90s, expect to see entire MP3 downloads here.

Podcast #93 Coming This Weekend!

It's hard to believe that the Brainwashed Podcast has been online for over two years now.  This coming weekend'd Podcast is #93 and David Tibet of Current 93 will host, trying to cram some of his fave songs as well as some new and upcoming Durtro releases as well as some C93 classics or rarities all in about an hour long program.

Happy 2007 to everybody. 2006 was a banner year for Brainwashed and we hope to continue the tradition of providing the small corner of independent music a place. Meat Beat Manifesto New Album for 2007

In a recent mailout, Meat Beat Manifesto has announced work on a new album with anticipated release in Summer of 2007.  Additionally, MBM won the award for best electronic act in the 17th Annual SF Weekly Music Awards. Windy & Carl make Akimatsuri available

There is a new Windy & Carl CD. Specially recorded and released for the Brainwaves festival, the new disc is a celebration of the autumn season. Akimatsuri is a 33 minute long journey in five parts, each named for the mood they convey. The disc is limited to 500 hand numbered copies, and comes in a specially designed and made sleeve.
